The iPad is here, haven’t you heard? It’s one thing to hear or read what it’s like to play with an iPad and the games that have launched alongside Apple’s new device, it’s quite another to watch them in action. I’ve been furiously downloading some of the major new game releases and figured the best way to help you understand what makes them tick was to show you by shoving my hands in front of a camera. To do that, here’s the first of several videos of me walking you through the biggest iPad games. First up? Words With Friends HD, Scrabble, Fieldrunners and the simple but beautiful

Journalists Vs. Developers — The PAX East Panel

I had the honor to help kick off PAX East in Boston as part of a panel Wired games editor Chris Kohler put together entitled Journalists Vs. Developers: The Ultimate Grudge Match. Irrational Games director of product development Tim Gerritsen and Harmonix publicist John Drake took the opposing side, with EA.com editor-in-chief and former writer Jeff Green moderating and providing plenty of laughs. Gaming’s journalists and developers actually tend to mostly got along, but if you’re looking for insight into the complicated relationship between these two industry players, it’s well worth watching. Hydrophobia First Look Preview

Water, water, everywhere, nor any drop to drink. Of course, if you stop to take a sip during the action of Hydrophobia , you probably are missing the point. In this Xbox Live Arcade game, water becomes your ally as you use it to extinguish fires, spread oil to light enemies on fire, and eventually as a weapon itself. While there’s plenty of underwater combat with the terrorists onboard the sinking ship, you’ll also have to survive the disaster which consists of three acts each containing three chapters.

Sessler’s Soapbox: Will Nintendo Do 3-D the Right Way?

By now, anyone who regularly visits this website knows that Adam Sessler does not like 3-D. However, Nintendo announced they will soon be revealing their next portable, the Nintendo 3-DS, that will have 3-D technology that doesn’t require glasses. Combine that with the fact that Nintendo rarely promotes a technology they haven’t thoroughly tested and are proud of (VirtuaBoy not included), and Adam’s interested. Check out this week’s Sessler’s Soapbox to find out just what The Sess thinks might be over the horizon for Nintendo and 3-D gaming.
