On Location with Harmonix and the Rock Band Network

Harmonix and EA certainly hit a pop-culture nerve with Rock Band, and the latest bit of proof has been the incredible response the Rock Band Network has seen since its launch last month. X-Play’s Abbie Heppe sat down with Harmonix’s John Drake to find out more about how Rock Band Network is fairing post-launch. “We’re nearing 200 songs right now in just under a month, which is pretty crazy. We catching up quickly to the Rock Band regular DLC releases in terms of the amount of content. And you know, we are really proud of how well things are selling, how passionate the community is, and how different arists – both big and small – are all in the same store kicking around.” For more on Rock Band Network, and what Jimi Hendrix fans can expect in the downloadable content department, check out the following video: Watch Larger Version | Watch HD Version Rock Band Network – Rock Band – Harmonix Music Systems – Jimi Hendrix – Harmonix

UFC Undisputed 2010 NYC Debut Party Interview

THQ definitely has their work cut out for them with UFC Undisputed 2010 . Following up a critical and commercial hit like UFC 2009 Undisputed is certainly nothing to take lightly, and as producer Neven Dravinski told X-Play during the game’s recent debut party in New York City, this year is about taking what worked from the last game, building on that, and then, hopefully, “killing it.” “Across the board, you know. We looked at everything that was a complaint, everything that was an issue that we felt, and looked at ways to address it…We did a lot of things we didn’t necessarily have to do; we did things that we wanted to. Even though it is a ‘sequel title,’ we certainly don’t feel it carries the stigma of a sequel title. We really wanted to make the most compelling experience, and give it to our fans.”” Watch Larger Version | Watch HD Version

X-Play: Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands Preview

Ubisoft is taking its acclaimed Prince of Persia series back to its Sands of Time roots with Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands , while introducing some major gameplay changes along the way. X-Play spoke with producer Michael McIntyre who explained that one of the biggest new additions fans can expect is the revamped combat system. “I think what will mostly be new is things like the combat’s going to be up to 40 or 50 enemies at one time. The combat is going to feel very different, I think, from previous Prince of Persia’s. Like, you’ve got this many enemies, so the prince had to have abilities in order to suit fighting overwhelming odds. So it’s a combat system that has a lot of action and flow to it.” For more on what else is up the prince’s sandy sleeve, check out the video sitting neatly below this sentence: Watch Larger Version | Watch HD Version And for more insight into the game, be sure to check out our Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands hands-on preview . Tech Review: Casio EXG1 Digital Camera

Watch Larger Version of this Video Casio proves that digital cameras can be both stylish and rugged, which is why Chris Hardwick and Alison Haislip review the EXG1, which is only 0.8″ thick, waterproof, freeze proof and shock proof. Throw in 12.1 megapixels, and this camera should be perfect for $240. Find out! Find the full review from Gadget Pron on Attack of the Show after the cut. What You Need to Know Even though this camera is rugged, it’s the thinnest camera in our week of point and shoots. It’s only a little thicker than an iPhone. It feels solid. The camera is nice and small, so it’s easy to take anywhere. The buttons seem super small, too. The power and best shot buttons on the top are in-set too much and hard to press. While using the directional pad, you might accidentally hit the center button. On the plus side, there are shortcuts like the playback button turning on the camera and a one-touch movie record button. Its water-proof and drop-proof, but it’s also got dynamic photo mode that lets you put your subject in front of any background. In our extensive testing, it withstood anything we could throw at it. We took it snowboarding (and fell on it), took it to the beach (and lost it in the ocean), and generally beat the hell out of it. Dynamic photo allows you to take a picture of a subject, then cut it out and place it on any background, all on the camera; it doesn’t always work perfectly, but it’s fun. The pictures look surprisingly good. Normal light photos have vibrant colors and look exactly like you want them to, but as you get closer to them, they might be a little pixelated. Low light pictures are only okay; it gets the job done, but it’s more pixelated. Overall, you’ll be taking more pictures outside than inside. X-Play Previews Crackdown 2’s Team Deathmatch and Rocket Tag

The term “rocket tag” should immediately bring a big goofy grin to your face. If it doesn’t, the joy within you is dead. Anyway, rocket tag is one of the many, many reasons to be excited about Ruffian Games’ explosive sequel Crackdown 2 . X-Play’s Morgan Webb caught up with the game’s creative director Billy Thomson during PAX East 2010 to find out more about Crackdown 2 ’s delicious rocket-fueled mode. “There’s a yellow orb that’s created within the game world. One person can pick it up at a time. The longer you control the yellow orb, the more points you get…If anybody can hit you with a rocket, you’ll drop the orb, somebody else picks it up, and it just rotates like that…It’s just constant explosions. It’s really good fun.” Rocket tag mayhem and even more multiplayer goodness await just below:
