We know that traveling can be stressful with all of the pre-planning that’s necessary. Don’t let that empty duffel bag in the corner give you more anxiety. We have put together a packing guide to help you pack light and jump the gun on your summer trip planning! One important thing to keep in mind when you’re packing is that you will probably have to carry your bag for most of your trip: so, pack light! You want to try to fit as much of your stuff in a small amount of space, so be smart with your folding. I have found that the best way to pack clothing is by rolling it , kind of like a wrap. The clothes get much smaller and you can layer them! Now we get to the specific essentials. First and foremost, toiletries : Bag 1: Liquids Shampoo/Conditioner/Body Wash Toothpaste Hand Sanitizer Sunscreen/Bug Spray (depending on where you’re venturing off to) Bag 2: Non-Liquids Hair Brush Toothbrush Razor Q-tips Antiperspirant Make-up bag Band-aids (you never know) It’s always a good idea to divide your toiletries into two bags to avoid the typical “shampoo exploding and ruining everything” disaster. Keep in mind that these should all be travel-sized. You do not want to be carrying around giant bottles of shampoo just to have them taken away at the airport. Next, the rest of what you need should be relative to where you’re going . Here are some ideas to keep in mind: Camera Raincoat Extra Flip-Flops Map of the area _ Lastly, there are always “just in case” items that can impede your packing. So avoid packing these items and make your travel experience more comfortable: Expensive Jewelery Too many extra layers Lighters Do you have tips for packing? Fill us in! Aw look at lil Bruno “Yayo Face” Mars gettin’ his shine on! The caught-carrying-coca crooner covers the latest issue of Billboard Magazine and inside explains his rise to fame, his battle to overcome the damage done by his cocaine possession arrest and even working with Kanye West and Jay-Z on Watch the Throne . In case you didn’t already know Bruno also isn’t his real name… He was born Peter Gene Hernandez in Honolulu to a Filipino singer and a Puerto Rican-born percussionist raised in Brooklyn. Young Peter moved to Los Angeles in his late teens. He regularly played shows at dive bars on Ventura Boulevard. “To about six people,” he says. “All related, of course.” Bruno eventually landed an artist deal with Universal Motown, only to be dropped a year later. “I wasn’t ready for it,” he says. “I did nothing. And the lesson was — why are you waiting for someone to come and write a song with you? You know how to play the freakin’ guitar. Do it on your own.” Keep reading for more…
Working on Watch the Throne with Kanye got the creative juices flowing for Blueprint 3 follow-up. By Alvin Blanco Jay-Z Photo: Getty Images NEW YORK — While fans are still eagerly waiting for Jay-Z to drop his collaborative album with Kanye West, Watch the Throne, he has already started working on his next solo album. At an exclusive listening session for Throne on Thursday night at the Mercer Hotel, the Brooklyn rapper revealed that he is two songs deep into recording his 12th solo LP. The experience of creating the collaboration was so positive, Jay said, it inspired him begin working on new material of his own. Besides the two songs he has already completed, which he claimed were the best first pair of tunes he has ever created for one of his albums, he also has another four ideas ready to go. “I know exactly the tone and the whole feel of the album,” Jay-Z said of the follow-up to 2009’s platinum-certified The Blueprint 3. “I think when you experience creativity, you should get it out as much as possible.” Even though Watch the Throne isn’t in stores yet (pre-order receipts seem to indicate, unofficially, that it will be out on August 2), the “Empire State of Mind” rapper doesn’t want to stifle the creative juices that started flowing when he was working with West. And the inspiration flowed both ways, it seems. After getting Odd Future singer Frank Ocean to record a song for his solo album, Hov decided to have the crooner contribute his vocals to two Watch the Throne songs. So will this new solo effort come out before the discs from his Roc Nation signees J. Cole and Jay Electronica ? “Hopefully,” he quipped, before adding, “I don’t play that. We’re all competing for the same mind share. J. Cole and Jay Electronica are both making inspiring music.” Related Artists Jay-Z
Song is first offering from upcoming joint album, Watch the Throne. By Jayson Rodriguez Kanye West Photo: Gareth Cattermole/Getty Images It seems that in the midst of partying in Las Vegas for New Year’s Eve, Kanye West got a bit ahead of himself. ‘Ye announced that his joint album with Jay-Z, Watch the Throne, would be coming in one week, leaving plenty of folks puzzled as to how a high-powered collaboration could arrive with so little marketing. But on Thursday night, West set the record straight: “1.11.11,” he tweeted in a message that was accompanied by a promotional picture for his and Hov’s single “H.A.M.” The track is the first offering — scheduled for Tuesday, January 11 — from the pair’s highly touted project, which originated as an EP but quickly expanded into a full album of material from the two. “H.A.M.” is rumored to include production by Lex Luger , the upstart beatsmith who was responsible for some of 2010’s biggest anthems, from Rick Ross’ “B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast)” to Waka Flocka Flame’s “Hard in Da Paint.” Although the artwork for the single doesn’t suggest it, there’s speculation that “H.A.M.” is an acronym for “Hatin’ Ass Muthaf—as.” The “H.A.M.” artwork (designed by Riccardo Tisci) features images of crowns mixed with barking dogs and a simple message: “Kanye. Jay-Z. Watch the Throne. Coming soon.” As of press time, no date for Watch the Throne has been slated, but sources close to the project have informed MTV News of a tentative March release.
