Spring Valley High Classmates Dismiss Claims That Black Teen Was Disruptive Spring Valley High School officials and local deputies in South Carolina are investigating after a video taken at the high school shows a violent attack between a Black female student and the school’s resource officer. The Sheriff’s office claimed the Black student was being “disruptive” in class but many of her peers have come out the dismiss the claims. Student Aaron Johnson says otherwise: South Carolina cop Officer Ben Fields is already being sued in federal court for targeting African American student according to Raw Story : The suit, which is scheduled to go to trial in January, stated that Fields “recklessly targets African-American students with allegations of gang membership and criminal gang activity” and wrongfully accused a former Spring Valley High School student, Ashton James Reese, of being involved in a “huge gang fight” at a Walmart parking lot near the school in January 2013. Fields did not respond to the original incident, the suit stated, but took over the investigation from a fellow deputy. He is accused of falsely describing Reese as a gang member without even speaking to him about the incident, which reportedly involved three men not identified as Spring Valley students attacking another man. Fields described the incident as an attempt to unify three gangs. However, neither Fields nor the school’s assistant principal, April Shell, were able to provide written statements implicating Reese in connection with the incident during a pair of subsequent hearings. Fields allegedly insisted that he would only review his files if Reese were to face criminal charges. Something in the water doesn’t smell clean with this story! Per USA Today : As Pope Francis left the chamber after addressing Congress yesterday, legislators crowded around him, hoping to get a moment with the leader of the Catholic Church. But one man wasn’t among them. That’s because Rep. Bob Brady of Philadelphia was too busy swiping the pope’s water glass, the Philadelphia Daily News reports. Brady was spotted carefully using two fingers to lift the pope’s glass from the podium and carry it back to his office, where he, his wife, and two staffers sipped from it. “How many people do you know that drank out of the same glass as the pope?” Brady asks the Daily News. After letting another congressman and his family dip their fingers in the glass, Brady put the remaining water into a bottle to use to bless his grandchildren later. “The congressman is a Catholic and has immense respect for the Holy Father,” his chief of staff tells ABC News. Cooking it in an oven. Woman Kills Puppy In Oven A 24-year-old Illinois woman was recently arrested for killing her boyfriend’s Pitbull puppy by putting it in a hot oven. The News-Gazzette reports: A judge set a high bond for a woman accused of killing her ex-boyfriend’s puppy by placing it in a hot oven. Kinny Redmon, 24, who listed an address in the 200 block of South Country Fair Drive, Champaign, was charged with animal torture and aggravated cruelty to animals — both felony offenses — for allegedly putting a 3-month-old pit bull in a 300-degree oven and shutting the door. An Urbana police report said the 31-year-old owner of the dog and Redmon used to date and have a child in common but broke up about six months ago. However, the man allows Redmon to stay at his house in the 800 block of East Water Street in Urbana. On Wednesday, the two got into an argument and the man left the house early for work, leaving his puppy in a crate. Redmon was not there at the time. While he was at work early Thursday morning, he noticed that he had missed three different calls on his cellphone. Urbana police investigator Dave Smysor said the woman called him back again and said, “Go get yo’ puppy out the oven, (expletive),” then hung up. Smysor said the man returned home and found his oven on, set at 300 degrees, and a chair pushed up against the oven door. He found the puppy dead inside. Police reported an overwhelming stench coming from the house. Wow, that poor puppy.
