Oil Rig Explosion an Environmental Problem

photo by Gerald Herbert The Oil Rig Explosion is now one of the major Environmental problems for it has sunk below the water. That’s not the only problem that is facing right now but also the eleven missing workers. The ultra -deepwater dynamic positioned semi submersible oil rig that was built in 2001, began burning Tuesday night and sink into the Gulf of Mexico on Thursday.  The oil rig exploded after the uncontrolled release of gas from the well during the construction of the reinforcing well of the oil rig. This oil rig is owned by Transocean, the largest offshore drilling contractor. It is said that the Deep Water Horizon has a diesel of 700,000 gallons but it was unsure of how much burned during the fire. Due to explosion, 300,000 barrels leaks a day which is not only a threat to marine life but also from the coastline of nearby beaches such as Louisiana which is about 60 miles away from the rig. Rescuers are now searching both air and water for the missing eleven workers which has the slim chance of finding them alive. Authorities are now looking for the best way on how to solve the facing dilemma because of the explosion. Oil Rig Explosion an Environmental Problem is a post from: Daily World Buzz Continue reading

TIME Magazine Lists Fluoride as "Environmental Toxin"

SIC SEMPER TYRANNIS!!! A report from TIME.com lists among other household Items – Fluoride- as an “Environmental Toxin”. The article starts out, saying: “Chemicals in plastics and other products seem harmless, but mounting evidence links them to health problems — and Washington lacks the power to protect us” Of course, activists and scientists have for years been aware of fluoride’s toxicity, but propaganda and Big Pharma have sought to keep these facts from the general public by showing fluoride in a favorable light through the controlled media. The article went on to say that “Government studies support current fluoride levels in tap water, but studies on long-term exposure and cancers are ongoing”. What It Is: A form of the basic element fluorine Found In: Toothpaste, tap water Health Hazards: Neurotoxic and potentially tumorigenic if swallowed; the American Dental Association advises that children under 2 not use fluoride toothpaste What You Should Know: Government studies support current fluoride levels in tap water, but studies on long-term exposure and cancers are ongoing So, What are the lethal levels for humans? As of April 7, 1997, the United States FDA (Food & Drug Administration) required that all fluoride toothpastes sold in the U.S. carry the following poison warning: WARNING: Keep out of reach of children under 6 years of age. If you accidentally swallow more than used for brushing, seek professional help or contact a poison control center immediately Potentially fatal dose = 5 mg of fluoride per kg of bodyweight. Ingestion of fluoride can produce gastrointestinal discomfort at doses at least 15 to 20 times lower (0.2–0.3 mg/kg) than lethal doses. [7][8] A 2-year-old, for example, may experience gastrointestinal distress upon ingesting sufficient amounts of flavored toothpaste. Between 1989 and 1994, over 628 people—mostly children—were treated after ingesting too much fluoride from their toothpaste. Gastrointestinal symptoms appear to be the most common problem reported. [9] In 1986 the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) established a maximum contaminant level (MCL) for fluoride at a concentration of 4 milligrams per litre (mg/L), which is the legal limit of natural fluoride allowed in the water. In 2006, a 12-person committee of the US National Research Council (NRC) reviewed the health risks associated with fluoride consumption[12] and unanimously concluded that the maximum contaminant level of 4 mg/L should be lowered. The EPA has yet to act on the NRC's recommendation.[13][14] The limit was previously 1.4 – 2.4 mg/L, but it was raised to 4 mg/L in 1985.[15] Excessive Fluoride consumption in studies has been shown to be the culprit in the following; A weakening of bones, leading to an increase in hip and wrist fracture Adverse effects on the kidneys possible liver damage Chromosomal damage and interference with DNA repair a correlation between increased fluoride and low IQ suppressive effects on the thyroid While it is refreshing to see the truth about Fluoride being published in the mainstream media, it is disappointing to see, that when most people are told about the devastating effects of Fluoride in our drinking water, toothpaste, and other household items – they ignore the facts, or even categorize these facts as just another “Conspiracy theory”. http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u205/Crowcaller/2005-5-15-fluoride1reals22.jp… Read more: http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/article/0,28804,1976909_1976895_19768… http://www.time.com/time/specials/packages/completelist/0,29569,1976909,00.html#… added by: Dagum

Baby Boy Kian Given Birth To A Hospital Toilet Bowl

Four months premature baby boy Kian, warrior in Gaelic surprised everyone in Melbourne when he was born.  This lucky baby was delivered in a Angliss Hospital toilet bowl Tamara Richardson underwent no contractions and haven’t had the slightest idea that she was about to give birth while on the toilet until she looked down and saw her baby inside the bowl. “I didn’t even know he had come out. I panicked and pressed the emergency button,” Richardson said. The nurses scooped him out of the toilet, cut the cord, and resuscitated the newborn for seven harrowing minutes. Mrs Richardson rushed to the hospital on March 6 when her water broke just 21 weeks into her pregnancy. Somehow the baby managed to stay inside the womb for another two weeks before making his surprise arrival on March 22. He was just 33cm long and weighed only 695 grams.  Brain scans show no damage and the now three-week-old baby is perfectly formed. He will have to spend at least another four months in a humidity crib until his weight reaches a healthy 1.8kg. The family, including sister Ayla, 2, is reportedly planning a party for his homecoming. Baby Boy Kian Given Birth To A Hospital Toilet Bowl is a post from: Daily World Buzz Continue reading

Tiger Woods Commentary You Won’t Hear at The Masters This Week But Really Should

Linked to more than a dozen mistresses and embroiled in one of the biggest celebrity scandals of all time, fully moving on will be difficult for Tiger Woods. For us, it’s similarly difficult not to turn everything he says or does into a double entendre. Here are some sound bites you could hear over the next four days at The Masters if the announcers aren’t careful … or are looking for a fun way to get fired: Tiger pulls out the wood … this time with Joslyn James no longer present. Here’s Woods about to embark on beautiful 18, which is near and dear to his heart … 18 represents the legal age of consent in Georgia, Jim. Woods has a difficult lie … worse than the kind he used to tell Elin. Just a few short months ago, he was stroking the behind of Rachel Uchitel. Now here we find the world’s #1 golfer, one stroke behind Phil Mickelson. The Par Five 13th and 15th holes are within easy reach of Tiger, much like the 13th and 15th hoes he picked up at the Blue Marlin Grill in Islesworth. We now turn to our sideline reporter, Jaimee Grubbs. What kind of position is Tiger in right now? Does it feel familiar to him, do you think? Tiger’s staring over a 60-foot downhill putt with three feet of break here Bob … and you thought those Joslyn James text messages were a tough read! Like Jamie Jungers, this situation looks promising, given Tiger’s length. The 14th hole has been easier for Woods than a Vegas VIP hostess. Why is Tiger the favorite this week? Who else in the field has proven to be so adept at handling an abundance of holes? Oooh, and Tiger drives one into the water hazard. That will result in a case of some blue balls, something with which Tiger isn’t too familiar. Tiger played that hole very well. Or, as his wife might say: The opposite of how he treated me. Like a text message for Joslyn James, Tiger’s ball will be dirty after landing in that sand trap. Will Tiger Woods don the green jacket yet again this Sunday afternoon? If so, what waitress’ hotel room will it end up on the floor of a few hours later?! The 100th episode of Bones , starring David Boreanaz, airs on the same night that Tiger returns to pro golf. Huge day for Rachel Uchitel conquests! Tough read on this putt. Woods hasn’t looked this confused since he took Ambien, got clubbed in the face by his wife, smashed his Cadillac Escalade into a tree in his neighbor’s yard and then passed out in the street.

How "Green" Is Gaming?

April 22 is Earth Day, 24 hours devoted to considering the impact we have on the natural world and (hopefully) improving our relationship with the planet. It might seem like gaming is low-impact in terms of the environment — after all, you’re just sitting there staring at a screen as opposed to burning tires or releasing mercury into the water supply — but the video game industry does have an effect on the planet. Gamepro recently looked into it and compiled and interesting and/or enlightening article on the impact video games have on Nature. Among the big three consoles, Nintendo’s Wii uses the least power, but, overall, Nintendo has the lowest rating in eco-friendliness among game system manufacturers, according to a Greenpeace report published in January. This isn’t to say Microsoft and Sony are eco-warriors. In the list of consumer electronic manufacturers, Microsoft was second-to-worst and Sony was in the middle of the pack. While the video game industry
