Follow Up of the Day: Fort Wayne’s Harry Baals-gate continues, with the city still mostly opposed to naming a new government building after the popular former mayor (Fort Wayne’s longest-serving head honcho) due to the suggestive pronunciation of his name. NewsChannel 15 caught up with Baals’ great-great nephew Jim, who says it would be an honor to have the building named after his historic relative…. Finishing touches are still being put on the clip, which was set to debut Thursday on MTV. By Jayson Rodriguez Lil Wayne Photo: MTV News Lil Wayne was set to premiere the video for “6 Foot 7 Foot” on MTV this Thursday at 8 p.m. ET during the special presentation “MTV First: Lil Wayne,” but the highly anticipated debut has been postponed as the finishing touches are being put on the video. To tide you over until the premiere, however, here’s a little more from Wayne about how the track came together. The song is the lead single from Weezy’s forthcoming album, Tha Carter IV, the Cash Money Records superstar’s first project since his release from prison in November. The rollicking track was produced by Bangladesh, who helmed Wayne’s “A Milli” and features the newest Young Money addition Cory Gunz . The upstart rapper is the progeny of veteran New York rapper Peter Gunz (“Deja Vu”) and an alumnus of XXL ‘s noted Freshmen 10 cover in 2009. According to Wayne, he placed Gunz on “6 Foot 7 Foot” to introduce his recent signee since he knew how much attention would be given to his first track. He characterized the strategy as a similar path he took with Drake and Nicki Minaj. “You know, I put Nicki on the right songs, I put Drake on the right songs; I picked the right song,” Wayne told MTV News. “It makes people pay attention … because I know that people were waiting to see what I’ll say on my first record, my first Lil Wayne record [since getting out of prison]. ‘Cause, of course, I’ve done a bunch of features, and I’m quite sure whoever I did a feature for [before], as soon as I came home they put it out ’cause it got Wayne on here. ‘He just came home, let’s put it out.’ So, I knew people were going to look at my first record like, ‘I want to know what he’s talking about on his first record.’ And, I gave you the jewel at the end. It’s like I’m forcing it on you, you got to hear this. It made everybody who didn’t know Cory Gunz [say], ‘Who is that?’ ” Gunz, for his part, said when he got the call to join the track, Weezy gave him one simple edict: Attack. “We went straight to the studio and Tunes [told me], ‘I have something for you to hear,’ and it went from there,” Cory told MTV News in December. “[Wayne said], ‘We gon’ have to attack this.’ As soon as I heard it, it was like instant. Some beats you hear [or] certain songs you hear in a party … and they hit you in a certain kind of way, and that’s kinda what the beat did. So we sat and the record is now getting an amazing response. People been messing with the record, so it’s dope. I’m happy to be here.” No timetable has been set for the release of the “6 Foot 7 Foot” video, but we will bring you that info as soon as it is available. Related Artists Lil Wayne Cory Gunz

Lil Wayne’s ‘6 Foot 7 Foot’ Video Premiere Postponed
‘Just seeing that he even heard the song, A, and then knew how to rap to it,’ the ‘Black and Yellow’ MC tells MTV News. By Matt Elias Wiz Khalifa Photo: MTV News Super Bowl XLV might not have panned out quite like Pittsburgh MC Wiz Khalifa would have wanted, since his beloved Steelers get edged out by the Green Bay Packers. But still, there was an upside for Wiz — namely, hearing Lil Wayne take on his Steelers anthem “Black and Yellow” with his own remix, the aptly titled “Green and Yellow.” When MTV News caught up with Wiz on the set of his “Roll Up” music video in Venice, California, we had to ask what he thought about Weezy’s remix. “I actually thought it was real cool when he did his version,” Wiz said. “Just seeing that he even heard the song, A, and then knew how to rap to it. Not saying that he wouldn’t, but it was kind of wild, like, hearing Wayne flip how I rap, ’cause that’s Lil Wayne. But it was cool.” It’s a great compliment to the momentum Wiz has built in the last year. First, he was named MTV News’ 2010 Hottest Breakthrough MC , then he signed to Atlantic Records and teamed up with Snoop Dogg for the official “Black and Yellow” remix , and now he’s gearing up for the release of his debut, Rolling Papers, next month. And even though the Steelers lost, Wiz was in characteristically good spirits about the whole situation. “My reaction to Sunday is just like, we’ll get ’em next time,” the mellow MC said. “We’ve been to plenty of Super Bowls. It won’t be the last one, and it was kind of a bummer just losing. But we had a great season and a lot of momentum just going into it, so I think that just had everybody boosted anyway. There was a lot of attention on Pittsburgh.” What did you think of Lil Wayne’s “Green and Yellow”? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Wiz Khalifa Lil Wayne

While he likes Lil Wayne’s ‘Green and Yellow’ Packers anthem, he isn’t rooting for either team. By Mawuse Ziegbe, with reporting by Sway Calloway Justin Bieber Photo: Brian Phares/MTV News During Sunday’s Super Bowl, we know celebrity fans like Snoop Dogg, Diddy and Wiz Khalifa will be rooting for their beloved Pittsburgh Steelers, and Lil Wayne will be going hard for the Green Bay Packers . However, there’s one superstar who probably won’t care either way which team goes home with the shiny Vince Lombardi Trophy: Justin Bieber. The pop megastar stopped by the MTV Newsroom on Friday (January 4) to chop it up with Sway, and when asked which team he wants to see rule the gridiron Sunday night, the Canadian native admitted that he doesn’t have an allegiance to the Packers or Steelers. “I’m not, like, a fan of either teams,” Bieber conceded. He was similarly noncommittal about who he thought might dominate the field, shrugging, “I don’t know,” when pressed about he thought would win. The football rivalry hasn’t been entirely out of the teen idol’s orbit. Bieber dished that he was feeling Wayne’s recently released Packers tribute “Green and Yellow.” “Did you hear Lil Wayne’s song … ‘Green and Yellow’?” he asked Sway of the New Orleans MC’s remix of Khalifa’s “Black and Yellow.” “I saw it today and I thought that was pretty cool.” Even with each team heading into the championship face-off with dueling hip-hop anthems, Bieber maintained that the final score card won’t faze him. “Either way, whatever team wins, it’s not my team,” he said. While Bieber may not show his sports-fanatic side during the Super Bowl, the “Baby” singer will be seen by millions during the game. The Biebs has teamed up with metal legend Ozzy Osbourne in a futuristic Best Buy ad that the company said in a statement will “showcase creativity and humor to millions of football and advertising fans throughout the country.” Plus, viewers will get an additional dose of Bieber fever when a promo clip for the star’s upcoming 3-D movie “Never Say Never” airs during a post-Super Bowl episode of “Glee.” Who are you rooting for in the Super Bowl? RedOne-produced tune featuring Pitbull premiered on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show. By James Dinh Jennifer Lopez Photo: Jeffrey Mayer/ WireImage With the new season of “American Idol” premiering Wednesday, you’d think Jennifer Lopez would have enough on her plate. However, the singer/actress is working hard at a full-blown musical comeback as her brand-new single, “On the Floor,” featuring Pitbull, premiered early Tuesday morning (January 18) on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show . In the track produced by RedOne, Lopez commands the dance floor over a techno beat, which incorporates a sample of Kaoma’s worldwide hit “Lambada.” “If you go hard, you gotta get on the floor/ If you’re a party freak, then step on the floor/ If you’re an animal, then tear up the floor/ Break a sweat on the floor/ Yeah, we work on the floor,” she sings. Jenny fans got their early fix when the demo for the Pitbull-assisted tune hit the Internet on Friday. Later that day, Seacrest sent Lopez fans into a frenzy when he revealed he would debut the finalized version of the track this week. Lopez is expected to make a radio appearance with her “Idol” co-star on his radio show Wednesday. “Fun talking to you on the carpet last night … look forward to catching up Wednesday morning on air!!!” she tweeted . J. Lo has been teasing fans about her collaboration with super-producer RedOne (Lady Gaga’s “Just Dance” and “Bad Romance”) via Twitter . “I see u @RedOne_Official! We’re making BIG things happen ‘On the Floor’ this new year!!!” she wrote last week. Back in November, RedOne spoke to Blackbook magazine about his studio sessions with the singer, saying, “Musically, I’m trying to combine all the elements that [make] her who she is. We connected, and it was easy to work together. She’s in another headspace. She’s very positive and content. She knows what she wants to do.” In addition to “On the Floor,” the entertainer’s viral clip for her buzz track “Good Hit” also surfaced online. In the minute-and-a-half clip, the Latin bombshell instructs her all-female class on the latest in “Advanced Fierceology/ Work It Out 101.” What do you think of J. Lo’s new tune?
