This American Idol veteran – who tried out for both previous seasons and hadn’t even planned on giving it a third go until the judges convinced him during his sister’s opening audition this year – covered “Decode” on last night’s live audition show, leaping atop a piano to close the performance and looking like he belongs in “American Idiot” or “Rock of Ages.” That’s not a diss. Just an observation. Jennifer Lopez told Colton he sings “from the heart,” but she told that to pretty much every contestant last night. Oh, how we miss Simon Cowell. He would have torn into Eben Franckewitz last night. Not that we want to see a 15-year old cry on stage, but let’s be honest: this Justin Bieber lookalike is not ready for primetime, and certainly not ready to try his voice on an Adele single. But that’s exactly what Eben attempted, covering “Set Fire to Rain” and simply failing to hit any of the proper notes, while looking overwhelmed on such a grand stage. No, Randy Jackson, Franckewitz did not “collect himself like a pro,” which is understandable: he’s not a pro. He’s only 15. Jenelle Evans, Leah Messer, Kailyn Lowry and Chelsea Houska reunited last night in part two of the MTV reality show’s time-honored “checkup” with Dr. Drew Pinsky. Last week, in part one of the reunion , Kailyn and Jenelle were in the hot seat. This time it was Leah and Chelsea on the receiving end of Dr. D’s burning questions. What did we find out? Not a lot, but here’s our recap! Minus 20 right off the bat because so much has changed in the girls’ lives since this show was taped last summer that this feels like watching some other season. Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake ‘s recent engagement spawned the obligatory rumors of when and where the gorgeous couple will tie the knot. To wit … The uber-private couple is staying mum on the details . Big surprise. Still, some tidbits are getting out, since as who Biel’s eyeing as a dress designer and when exactly the big day’s going down. Approximately, at least. According to insiders, the wedding will take place this summer at a private estate. The quiet couple will have a small, secret ceremony with no press. Again, major shocker there. As for the dress, Jess has her eye on Monique Lhuillier – one of the premiere designers for A-listers – as her “number one choice” for her wedding gown. Not that there are photos to prove it, but Jessica Biel finally debuted the engagement ring at a Saturday Night Live after-party in NYC last weekend. One source who laid eyes on it at the party says the engagement ring actually “wasn’t huge” and “looked vintage and might have been custom made.” Hmm. Once worn by Justin’s grandma perhaps?
Dirty dog or decent guy? You decide. Last week, rumors spread that Jason Campbell left his woman stone cold at the altar. Well, he offered his side of the story. The Oakland Raiders quarterback and his fiancee had been planning their wedding for more than a year. But, Campbell told the Washington Post, he and Montes made the decision to “put things off” after discussing it for a couple of weeks. It was a decision that was not shared with their guests until a party hours before the scheduled wedding. Campbell didn’t explain why they waited so long to deliver the news but said they decided to go through with the trip and “just made a vacation out of it.” Campbell denied rumors that he left Montes at the altar — “I love her enough to talk to her before it gets that far,” he said. And he did not give a specific reason for the decision but did refer to the collarbone injury that prematurely ended his season with the Raiders. “It’s just the fact that I have a lot going on right now with recovering from injury,” he said. “There’s just so much going on in both our lives right now.” Well, are they getting back together? He added that he doesn’t know at this point if the wedding is going to be rescheduled. “We’re not trying to force anything right now,” Campbell said. “We’re taking everything one day at all time, trying to let all the air and the dust clear.” Campbell’s ex, though, hasn’t confirmed or denied this story, so we’ll wait to see what she says. Elizabeth Smart is a married woman. “To be in one of her favorite places with her family made for a dream wedding. It’s been an absolutely beautiful day,” her spokesman, Chris Thomas, said of her wedding to Matthew Gilmour. “She is positively radiant. And Matthew couldn’t be happier.” Congratulations to the newlyweds! Smart, 24, exchanged vows with Gilmour, 22, in a private ceremony on Saturday afternoon in Hawaii. A few more details have been released regarding Whitney Houston’s funeral on Saturday, and one is especially troubling for Bobby Brown. First, though, we can confirm that gospel singer Marvin Winans – who officiated the 1992 wedding of Houston and Brown – will eulogize the legend at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, while New Jersey Governor Chris Christie says government building flags will fly at half-staff that day. But will Brown even be in attendance at the memorial? Insiders tell TMZ that certain members of Whitney’s family do not want her ex-husband there, presumably due to his negative influence on Houston when they were married and the belief that he introduced her to a world of narcotics. Bobby, of course, wants to pay his respects to Whitney and also wants to be there for daughter Bobbi Kristina , who is struggling mightily – she’s been hospitalized twice for anxiety – with her mother’s passing.
