Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group signee has MTV’s Jam of the Week. By Steven Roberts Stalley Photo: MTV News Stalley ‘s inclusion in Rick Ross’ “invincible” Maybach Music Group probably came as a surprise to plenty of people — because it definitely came as a surprise to the Ohio MC himself. Arguably lesser-known than Wale, Meek Mill and Pill were before they joined the team, Stalley nevertheless caught the Bawse’s attention. When MTV News caught up with the rapper earlier this week, he said New Orleans spitter Curren$y actually linked them up. “Curren$y had called me, and he told me that Ross was looking for me and that he wanted to reach out,” Stalley recalled. “Curren$y asked if it was OK if he gave Ross my number, and I was like, ‘Yeah, of course.’ ” Stalley said Ross flew him down to Dallas during the first leg of Lil Wayne’s I Am Still Music Tour and asked if he wanted to be a part of the team. Stalley said he jumped at the opportunity because he felt the team was very family-oriented and that he would retain total control of what he was already doing. It’s a few months later, and Stalley has MTV’s Jam of the Week for the remix of his “Lincoln Way Nights (Shop)” featuring Ross. The video, which was directed by Spiff TV, features the two rappers riding around, eating lavishly. Stalley is set to re-release his mixtape, Lincoln Way Nights (Intelligent Trunk Music) on November 1, completely re-mastered by Young Guru and Tony Dorsey. “It sounds like a whole different project,” he said.” I’m just very excited, and I’m very happy to re-release it for those who might have not got to hear it.” Related Artists Stalley
Next episode, also featuring Lenny Kravitz and Bryan Greenberg, airs Saturday at 11 a.m. on MTV. By Lauren Kearney Kristin Cavallari Photo: Frazer Harrison/ Getty Images We all remember party girl and badass Kristin Cavallari from ” The Hills ,” and the die-hard “Hills” fans remember where it all began: “Laguna Beach.” On this week’s episode of “When I Was 17,” Kristin takes us back in time to her “Laguna Beach” days, rehashing a Halloween rager that almost went off without a hitch. “When I was 17, my Dad got remarried and went away on his honeymoon, so I threw a huge Halloween party,” Kristin recalls on the latest episode, premiering Saturday at 11 a.m. on MTV and also featuring Lenny Kravitz and Bryan Greenberg. “Everyone was dressed up for Halloween, which makes it that much more fun. We were definitely dancing. We were drinking. My house was filled with people.” The next day, Kristin cleaned the entire house until it was spotless, leaving no evidence of the party the night before. Or so she thought. “I thought I did such a good job. And then my dad and my stepmom came home, and apparently I just missed one beer can under the couch, and that’s what my Dad found.” Busted! But we’re glad Kristin decided not to change her partying ways. After all, what would “Laguna Beach” have been without the party girl? Awards screeners have yet to really start coming in (a few have already been sent out, including Sony Pictures Classics’ Take Shelter , The Guard , and Higher Ground , and Summit’s A Better Life ), but this week’s arrival of Attack the Block DVD screeners is a surprise entry to the season. The Sony/Screen Gems-released sci-fi pic was sent out to members of the L.A. Film Critics Association this week, although it’s unclear how much of a campaign the studio plans, if any. Does the British kid-oriented genre film have a shot at awards season, anyway?

‘Star Trek’ actor had dodged rumors before making revelation in New York magazine. By Gil Kaufman Zachary Quinto Photo: Alberto E. Rodriguez/ Getty Images For years, “Star Trek” actor Zachary Quinto dodged questions about his sexuality, preferring to keeping his private life private and let his work on TV shows such as “Heroes” and movies like the recent “What’s Your Number” do the talking. Then, unexpectedly, he offhandedly outed himself in an interview with New York magazine, while discussing his starring role last year in the restaging of the early AIDS-era drama “Angels in America.” Quinto told the magazine that his eight-month role in the epic Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Tony Kushner was “the most challenging thing I’ve ever done as an actor and the most rewarding”; he took on the grueling role of Louis Ironson, a character who walks out on his AIDS-stricken boyfriend. “And at the same time, as a gay man, it made me feel like there’s still so much work to be done, and there’s still so many things that need to be looked at and addressed.” Quinto, who has been outspoken on gay rights issues in the past, told The New York Times last year that even though blogs were full of speculation about his orientation, he preferred “not to feed the rumor mill with either substantiation or dismissal.” But the events of the past year appear to have had an impact on him and Quinto seemed comfortable at this point announcing his orientation. Thinking about how the last few months have seen gay marriage legalized in New York while also marking the recent suicide of bullied gay teen Jamey Rodemeyer , Quinto said, “And again, as a gay man I look at that and say there’s a hopelessness that surrounds it, but as a human being I look at it and say ‘Why? Where’s this disparity coming from, and why can’t we as a culture and society dig deeper to examine that?’ We’re terrified of facing ourselves.” He was also glad to be in town promoting the financial crisis thriller “Margin Call” — the first feature from his production company, Before the Door Pictures — while hundreds of Occupy Wall Street protesters are camped out in New York’s Zuccotti Park . “The timing couldn’t be more impeccable for us to try to create a dialogue, which is exactly why we made the movie in the first place,” he said. While he’s in town to promote the film, Quinto said he planned to go down and see the protesters to get a flavor of the sit-in. “As a left-leaning Democrat, I feel a sense of resonance with their position,” he said. “But as a citizen of this country, I feel deeply unsettled that people are rising up in movements against each other. It feels like we’re missing the mark. … The bottom line is we’re all f—ed, and we’re all in this together.”
