Mark Hoppus Talks Trousdale Press Project With All Time Low

‘We’re hoping to have the album tracking finished in the next two weeks,’ Blink-182 bassist tells MTV News. By James Montgomery Mark Hoppus Photo: Andrew Ross Rowe/ MTV News Earlier this week, All Time Low took to their Twitter account to let fans know that they were logging some studio time with Mark Hoppus . It was an announcement that was greeted with much enthusiasm from the band’s fans, though it wasn’t exactly surprising. After all, All Time Low recorded a song with Hoppus in the lead-up to their last album, Nothing Personal, and though the track didn’t make the final cut, Hopp took it in stride, making a cameo in the band’s video for the first single, “Weightless.” And days after Personal bowed at #4 on the Billboard albums chart, frontman Alex Gaskarth told MTV News that they definitely planned on re-teaming with Hoppus in the future, and promised that the song they had previously recorded would “definitely come out someday.” And it looks like Gaskarth is a man of his word. Because when they got together earlier this week, Hoppus and ATL weren’t working on something for the follow-up to Nothing Personal. Instead, they were finishing up that mysterious track for inclusion on an equally mysterious project Hoppus is calling Trousdale Press. And that’s straight from the man himself. “We worked together on a song for their last record that they did not end up using. It’s a great song, and has just been laying dormant for the past year,” Hoppus told MTV News in an e-mail. “While Blink-182 has been on down time before the European tour and album recording, I’ve been in the studio with a bunch of friends working on a project called Trousdale Press. Alex and Jack came down yesterday and we finished up that track. It’s a rocker.” Hoppus wouldn’t reveal any other details about the song, or Trousdale Press, (though he did mention the latter in a Tweet on Tuesday but, from the sound of things, the project is close to being finished. “We’re hoping to have the album tracking finished in the next two weeks,” he wrote. “I’m sure there will be a full press thing that you’ll be sent in the near future, but that’s the basics of the thing.” Related Artists Mark Hoppus All Time Low

5 Miramax Films the Weinsteins Can Remake To Get Out of Hock

By now you’ve heard the feel good story of the week — hey, it was a slow week — that Harvey and Bob Weinstein are thisclose to buying back their beloved Miramax from Disney for the not-so-cheap price of $600 million. Disney has denied this , but were the sale to go through it would bring up at least one question: How the hell do the Weinstein Brothers — the same Weinstein Brothers who barely had enough money to release Youth in Revolt into theaters — plan to pay back their fellow investors (lead by billionaire financier Ron Burkle), who presumably footed a lot of this bill? One word: Remakes! Here now are the five films from the Miramax library that the Weinsteins should seriously consider revisiting.

Singer will also join Elton John, Carrie Underwood, Black Eyed Peas and more on ‘Idol Gives Back.’ By Jocelyn Vena Alicia Keys Photo: Chris Jackson/ Getty Images While “American Idol” will be giving back next week, Alicia Keys will be giving out her advice to the remaining seven “Idol” hopefuls on Tuesday night’s show. Keys will mentor the contestants on “inspirational” songs, in keeping with the week’s charitable theme. Then on Wednesday, she’ll be one of the performers for the big “Idol Gives Back” episode, which will be hosted by Queen Latifah in addition to regular host Ryan Seacrest. Elton John, Carrie Underwood, the Black Eyed Peas, Annie Lennox and Jeff Beck are among the other performers announced for the show, which will raise funds for Children’s Health Fund, Feeding America, Malaria No More, Save the Children’s U.S. Programs and the United Nations Foundation. Fox has also announced that surprise guests will stop by the show on April 21. As a mentor, Keys has a tough act to follow in “Idol” alum Adam Lambert , who gave honest, insightful words of wisdom to the contestants this week (though he couldn’t save Katie Stevens and Andrew Garcia from elimination). Miley Cyrus and Usher also gave advice to the hopefuls earlier this season. How do you think Alicia Keys will do as an “Idol” mentor? Tell us in the comments! American Idol Producer: Adam Lambert Should Be a Major Star!

With the talent level low and the contestants so similar, this season of American Idol has been considered a bore by most viewers. Ratings certainly reflect a drop in interest. For that reason, producers are praying Adam Lambert will deliver a much-needed dose of excitement tonight, as he plays mentor to the remaining finalists. But Ken Warwick tells Entertainment Weekly that he’s also counting on the reverse coming true: he hopes the Lambert’s appearance on the show will resurrect this singer’s sidetracked career. “The guy is an incredible talent, and he had an incredible following. And it kind of upsets me that at the moment he’s not doing quite as well,” the executive producer said . “I don’t know what possessed him to do what he did at the AMAs , but he’s still struggling to live it down. “Hopefully… we can start putting him back firmly where he belongs, as a major star. Because the guy is an incredible talent. He genuinely is. And it kind of breaks my heart to see someone with that much talent struggle a bit. So hopefully we can do back for him as he can do for us.” Adam Lambert returns to the stage that made him famous this week. Aside from mentoring tonight, Lambert will return to the American Ido l stage tomorrow. From there, it’s off to the GLAAD awards Saturday evening for another performance. Wrote Adam, regarding the event: “GLAAD has advocated for out music artists, including myself, and I am proud to be part of the 21st Annual GLAAD Media Awards this year. GLAAD’s work to share stories that grow acceptance and understanding about the gay and transgender community is so important in our culture today.” Will tune in to watch Lambert on Idol this week?

Welcome Mad Cow: Your Latest ‘Selection’ of the 2010 Cannes Film Festival

We’re exactly a month away from opening night of the Cannes Film Festival, and aside from that evening’s screening of Robin Hood , speculation and conjecture regarding the fest’s competition selections remain heading into this week. So when Movieline’s “Cannes” alarm filled the office this morning with its customary accordion jig, I raced to see what putative masterpiece of world cinema had triggered it. My only reaction was two words — and they weren’t “false alarm.”
