I don’t have a clue who this woman(?) is, but she must have been the most beautiful girl at the AVN Awards over the weekend. I should probably clarify that statement, she’s the most beautiful girl from her chin to her bellybutton. I think that clears it up. Anyhow, here she is with some of the other classy broads from the award show. Enjoy.
Everything old was new again this weekend at the box office, with a third sequel and a WWII film cruising to the lead opposite pockets of crummy weather and a pair of NFL playoff games that were about as good as they could possibly be. What hit? What kind of didn’t? Your Weekend Receipts are here. 1. Underworld: Awakening Gross: $25,400,000 (new) Screens: 3,078 (PSA $8,252) Weeks: 1 And with this windfall — combined with the return of original star Kate Beckinsale — the Underworld franchise crosses hallowed box-office milestone threshold of… $300 million? Globally ? Four films, $300 million ? Not that you or I personally would turn our noses up at a check for $300 million, but we’re not making midwinter mass-pop vampire/lycan confections. Thank God for DVD/cable! Keep those revenue streams flowing! Related: I think I am going to throw up. 2. Red Tails Gross: $19,100,000 (new) Screens: 2,512 (PSA $7,604) Weeks: 1 Did you do your part this weekend to support African-American cinema, as George Lucas pleaded ? And if so, what did you think of Pariah ? 3. Contraband Gross: $12,200,000 ($46,100,000) Screens: 2,870 (PSA $4,251) Weeks: 2 (Change: -49.9%) Underworld: Awakening ‘s big huge boring shrug notwithstanding, let’s give Beckinsale some credit for being the first star since — wait for it — Kellan Lutz to have two films in the weekend’s top three finishers. Don’t say you’re not impressed. 4. Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close Gross: $10,545,000 ($11,237,000) Screens: 2,630 (PSA: $4,010) Weeks: 5 (+11,484%) Expanding by more than 2,600 screens, The Daldry admirably battled some of the year’s most vicious reviews to date, settling snugly into fourth place and a (very) modest per-screen average just over $4,000. For those keeping score at home, that would make ELAIC the lowest-averaging Sandra Bullock wide opening in a decade ( Murder by Numbers , $3,495 PSA) and the lowest-averaging Tom Hanks wide opening since 2007 ( Charlie Wilson’s War , $3,750). Playing Jeopardy! , Thomas Horn made more than seven times the amount that most theaters took in over roughly a day and a half of ELAIC screenings. 5. Haywire Gross: $8,410,000 (New) Screens: 2,439 (PSA $3,690) Weeks: 1 Meanwhile, Gina Carano is like, “I quit cage-fighting for this ?” Don’t give up, Gina! You could be the next Kate Beckinsale! Wait, that came out wrong. [Figures via Box Office Mojo ] Follow S.T. VanAirsdale on Twitter . Follow Movieline on Twitter .
Apparently the AVN Awards were held over the weekend and yet again I wasn’t invited, but I’ve got a whole bunch of shots from the event to cheer me up. I’ve got to say that I’m not all that impressed, for a party filled with pornstars I was kind of expecting to see a whole lot more skimpy outfits and silicone… And possibly even a little girl on girl action. What a shame.
Hollywood doesn’t believe that Black America will support a movie like Red Tails , and many African-Americans are making it a point to make to see the film this weekend to help boost the box office numbers. But how is Red Tails doing? So far, the movie is exceeding expectations. However, studio execs don’t expect the support to last. Red Tails is currently on track to make$15-$18 million this weekend, and $6-8 million today (January 20th). This would make Red Tails the No. 2 film in theaters, behind Underworld Awakening starring Kate Beckinsale and Michael Ely, which should bring in $24-$27 million. I don’t know if any of you are aware of this, but Aubrey O’Day is a bit of an attention whore. Shocking right? Here she is taking a picture of herself half naked in the bathroom mirror like a classy teenage girl. I’m not hating it, any chick who’s comfortable enough with her body to share pictures of her breasts stuffed into a little bikini is alright with me.
I’ve been in love with this Jessica-Jane Clement hottie ever she and her perfect breasts bust into my life a little while back, so I just had to post these shots of her heading out on the town over the weekend. Obviously she’s wearing a lot more clothing than I’m used to, she tends to sport a lot of bikinis, but her dress is so tight that I can look past it. Jesus she’s perfect.
GEEEEEEET TFOHWTBS! In his first extensive interview since being fired, Paterno shared his side of the 2002 episode. He became a flashpoint for criticism in November because he did not contact the police about the suspected assault, which was reported to him by a graduate assistant. Paterno instead relayed the allegations to the athletic director and another top university official. “I didn’t know exactly how to handle it, and I was afraid to do something that might jeopardize what the university procedure was,” Paterno told The Washington Post. “So I backed away and turned it over to some other people, people I thought would have a little more expertise than I did. It didn’t work out that way.” The athletic director, Tim Curley, and the university official, Gary Schultz, have been charged with failure to report the 2002 episode to police. They also are charged with lying to a grand jury about their knowledge of the matter. Paterno said that he had “no inkling” that Sandusky, who has been charged with more than 50 counts of sexual abuse against boys, might have been engaged in deviant behavior. Paterno declined to judge Sandusky or his other former Penn State colleagues. Which makes you just as bad as the rest of them, Coach Paterno. SMDH. Source More On Bossip! Paula Patton has a mission that’s apparently impossible: paying taxes… What’s owed: The IRS filed a $492,583 tax lien against Paula Patton and Robin Thicke on Dec. 28 with the Los Angeles County Recorder of Deeds. The address on the tax lien is a Post Office box in Santa Monica, Calif. Here’s their home in Los Angeles. Buuuuuut it doesn’t seem that they were avoiding the tax man. Their rep said this weekend: “They were just made aware of the issue and it is being taken care of immediately.” Paula has been in tons of movies and Robin just released a new album, we’re just the stacks are there to pay these bills. We hope. Source
