If anyone in showbiz is both qualified and deserving, it’s Eddie Murphy. This Tuesday, a confab is scheduled for Oscar producer Brett Ratner to tell the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences whom he wants to host the Oscars. I’ve learned that Ratner will offer one name to Academy President Tom Sherak: Eddie Murphy. This is by no means a done deal yet, but this is a first step – though a lot more steps have to happen before this becomes a reality. I’m told that a lot of big names have approached the other 84th Academy Awards producer Don Mischer saying they are interested in hosting, and Don is fielding those calls. But insiders tell me that Ratner since getting the Academy Awards producing gig has only been talking to one person: Eddie. It’s been along the lines of, “If the Academy asked you to host, would you accept?” I learned that Eddie is “showing interest”. I do know that Murphy’s Hollywood agency WME thinks it’d be a real coup for Murphy’s dormant career which is about to get a kick-start. That’s because the veteran comedian is starring in the Brett Ratner-directed and Imagine/Universal-produced Tower Heist action laugher with Ben Stiller that opens on November 4th and is receiving great buzz. So Murphy and Ratner already have a close relationship, and this would be a way for Brett to put his personal stamp on 2012′s broadcast. Plus Murphy is starring in the DreamWorks dramedy film A Thousand Words scheduled for release on January 12th. We hope that Eddie gets this prestigious job. He would definitely bring some much needed funny to an otherwise boring show. Hate it or love it?!?! Source

All signs were pointing to this in recent days, and now it’s official: Lionsgate has sent word that it will host regional sneak preview screenings of its epic, gritty MMA /family drama Warrior this weekend nationwide. Obviously that’s nothing new in the grand scheme of release strategies, but what makes this special is the endgame: Oscar night.

Obviously Playboy had a party over the weekend and yet again they neglected to invite The Tuna, apparently nobody likes me, luckily Bridget Marquart and her breasts got an invite. I had a dream this weekend that there was a terrible natural disaster…let’s say a Hurricane that had it’s target set on the Jersey Shore….so much that they issued on evacuation of the area…while I jumped and down with joy hoping it would really hit like an actual hurricane….with blood shet and devastation leaving the cast of that cancer of a show dead where they deserve….you know as wratch from the alien overlords for polluting our youth…. But instead…they were in Vegas showing off their fake tits…and that’s about as unfortunate as Irene’s performance….but the good news is they will probably end up in California and there’s always the hope the big quake hits…

As in years past, the main stage for the show was a visual spectacle. This year the theme was time travel, and the stage’s designer was intent on making you feel as if you were on a mind-tripping journey. “We met up half a year ago and [VMA Executive Producer Jesse Ignjatovic] came up with the idea to create a time tunnel,” explained VMA main stage production designer Florian Wieder of the psychedelic set that looked like a cross between an alien landing ship, the floor of a 1970s disco and the baddest midnight laser-light show ever. “That’s one of the reasons why the whole design is based on a tunnel that is right in the center of the stage.” Like the pre-show , which shared some of the same curvy, intergalactic whimsy, the main broadcast mixed undulating wave forms with bright, pop-art-style colors and a black and white theme to set the stage for a galaxy of performers, including Adele, Lady Gaga, Jay-Z and Kanye West, Beyonc
