For Discussion: Why Do We Shame Virgins??

Only a few decades ago premarital sex was shameful. Today, most men and women snicker at the thought of abstinence as a means of birth control. Talk show host Wendy Williams recently took to GSN’s Love Triangle to declare virginity “impractical.” Is it because virginity requires a substantial amount of self-control in an oversexed society? Is it laughable because it is something few of us have the will power to achieve? With birth control and Roe v. Wade came a sense of female sexual liberation and power. Or so we like to think. In our quest for equality, we reject double standards and sexual freedom is often associated with indulgence rather than control. Yet, many modern women who have intercourse with multiple men lie to potential mates about their total number of sexual partners. Sure, men may say they prefer someone experienced; but, at the end of the day, who’s stuff is more valuable—the virgin or the woman who’s been “broken in?” ( Continue… )

Tyrese Gibson just messed it up for all men during an interview on Wendy Williams ‘ talk show. The singer/actor said that men are expected to cheat on their women. Wendy asked Jody Tyrese, who was on the show promoting his new book How To Get Out Of Your Own Way , why men cheat… “I don’t have all the answers, but I can say that most mothers raised their daughters to believe that if you cook, clean, thoroughly take care of your man and go all out for your man, that should keep him home. Unfortunately that’s not the truth, but I will say to my daughter when she gets old and starts dating is, if you end up being cheated on, don’t own the cheat. Don’t make the cheat yours. It’s something in that skirt and those legs and whatever the case may be, and [he] decided to dip off. Does he see the value in his woman at home? Yes, but if he ends up dipping off, that spaghetti couldn’t keep him at home.” Wendy then asked if his wife cheated on him, would she get pass… “No way. See, it’s expected of men to cheat, even though all men don’t cheat. I can’t just generalize and say all men cheat, but it’s expected because it’s a part of our upbringingno listen if your in high school or in college, if one dude has sex with ten different women he is a hero, he’s the champion of the campus. Wendy Williams Voted Off “Dancing With The Stars”

See the original post:

Wendy Williams and her partner, Tony Dovolani, were voted off “Dancing With the Stars” last night. After the results were announced, Williams thanked her partner and the judges, and joked, “Despite stereotypes, this is one black girl who can’t even do the running man.” The 46-year old personality attributed her poor performances to too much travel. Wendy traveled back and forth from New York to tape her daytime show during filming of the reality show. Wendy may be upset about getting voted off, but we’re sure her feet are thanking her. We all saw the twitpic of her feet and it was not pretty!! Wendy Williams Sued For Being “Ungrateful”

Poor Thang: Wendy Williams And Her Jacked Up Hooves Get Sent Home From Dancing With The Stars

Between doing some serious damage to her feet and having to travel back and forth from NYC to LA almost daily for practice, Wendy Williams clearly sacrificed plenty for Dancing With The Stars. That didn’t make her a winner though: Wendy became the second contestant to be sent home from this season. Which didn’t really seem to surprise her too much. “Despite the stereotypes, this is one black girl who can’t even do the running man,” Wendy said during her post elimination interview. She’s not too upset about the elimination either. “[I’m] relieved,” Williams added. “I’m getting on a jet plane and going back to everything that’s near and dear to me that I’ve neglected personally for this six-week journey. I have a 10-year-old son and any parent knows that 5th grade and being 10 is a child on the brink! I have a 12-year marriage and a talk show that demands my attention, too.” So now there are two and a half Black people left on the show: Sugar Ray Leonard, Not-So-Little Romeo and Hines Ward. Do you think one of them can take it home?

‘Dancing With The Stars’ Results: Wendy Williams Foxtrots Home

Talk-show host jokes about her lack of rhythm ‘despite stereotypes,’ after getting eliminated. By Kelley L. Carter Wendy Williams and Tony Dovolani Photo: ABC There wasn’t much of a surprise on Tuesday night’s elimination show of “Dancing With the Stars.” In spite of all of the chatter about Kirstie Alley’s quick fall on the dance floor on Monday night’s show — the judges thought she and her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy recovered quite nicely — it was talk-show host Wendy Williams who was given the boot. This week, the celebrities were challenged to dance to a song that told a story about themselves, and Williams chose a foxtrot to “Last Night a DJ Saved My Life,” connecting it to her early dreams of having a radio career. The judges told her on Monday night that she lacked fluidity and thought that she took a step backwards from the previous week’s performance. The funnywoman (whose partner was Tony Dovolani) went out with a bit of graceful humor, joking about her 15-point score and her lack of natural rhythm. “I’m probably the busiest person in terms of flying back and forth. In addition to that, I have a marriage and a child and a litany of other things to hold together,” Williams said, talking up her hectic schedule with taping her talk show in New York while also dancing in Los Angeles, where the ABC reality show tapes. “But this has been a wonderful opportunity.” She also thanked Dovolani “for teaching me how to dance. Despite stereotypes, this is one black girl who can’t do the running man! I got to do this in front of millions of people! With that said, I’ll do the rest of the talking tomorrow, on ‘The Wendy Williams Show’!” Related Photos The 2011 ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Cast’s Movie Past ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Season 12 Cast Revealed

Dancing With the Stars Results: Elimination #2 is …

Monday’s Dancing With the Stars brought emotional routines and notable moments, such as Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Kirstie Alley taking a spill, but rising again. As far as scoring was concerned, talk show host Wendy Williams earned the night’s lowest scores – just 15 points out of 30 – for a stiff fox trot with Tony Dovolani. She was well back of the field, but was there a chance voters could propel her past another low flier, like Chris Jericho, to survive another week on DWTS? Follow the jump to see who was eliminated on the results show … Wendy Williams was in fact was eliminated on the results show. While she dubiously (and probably jokingly) was later quoted as saying “we were robbed,” she exited the ballroom gracefully and with trademark humor. There was also an element of relief in this for her. “I’m probably the busiest person in terms of flying back and forth. In addition to that, I have a marriage and a child and a litany of other things,” she said. Silver lining found. Williams thanked the judges and her partner, Tony Dovolani, “for teaching me how to dance,” implying that he accomplished a lot. “Despite stereotypes, this is one black girl who can’t do the running man.” So far, the first two results show have gone according to plan as far as scoring is concerned. Nine remain. Who do you think will win this? [Photos: ABC]
