SMH…. Dylann Roof To Face New Competency Hearing Dylann Roof will have a new competency hearing ahead of his sentencing. The murderer who was convicted on all 33 counts in relation to that 2015 Charleston church shooting, will undergo a second hearing to determine if he’s competent to stand trial at his sentencing. Roof, who wants to represent himself during sentencing, was found guilty of nine counts of hate crimes resulting in death, three counts of hate crimes involving an attempt to kill, nine counts of obstructing the exercise of religion resulting in death, three counts of that charge with an attempt to kill, and nine counts of using a firearm to commit murder during a crime of violence. Jurors will decide if he deserves the death penalty or life in prison. USA Today reports: Standby counsel for Dylann Roof, 22, filed a motion under seal Thursday asking Judge Richard Gergel of U.S. District Court in Charleston determine whether the defendant is competent to proceed with the sentencing phase. Gergel granted that motion and scheduled the competency hearing for Monday, a federal holiday, with jurors expected to reconvene for the sentencing phase Tuesday. The motion came one day after a hearing in which Roof again said he would represent himself during the sentencing. He told the court he planned to offer an opening statement but will not call witnesses or submit evidence in his defense […] With sentencing set to begin in five days, Roof again has dismissed the lawyers, a move that prevents them from submitting evidence that he suffers from a mental defect. Evaluations and testimony from mental health experts in the sentencing phase often are considered key factors that might persuade jurors to vote for a life sentence over execution. In court filings, Roof has indicated he will not call mental health experts, reversing a course his lawyers had planned earlier. Hopefully, this murderous trash is ruled competent before his sentencing in January.

Former NFL Player Keion Carpenter Dies After Falling Into A Coma Ultimately, the ones who grieve the most when someone passes are said person’s family and friends. That said, we sure are pained to have to report yet another death of a public figure. Ex-Atlanta Falcon Keion Carpenter has died at the age of 39 in a Miami hospital after collapsing and hitting his head while playing with his son according to the Baltimore Sun . Carpenter’s cousin, Jamila Smith, recounts the incident that lead to his untimely demise: “They were running to the car when (Carpenter) slipped, fell, hit his head and slipped into a coma. It was just a freak accident,” she said. “He was always healthy; he went to the doctor, ate well and worked out.” Keion was a beloved native son of Baltimore, Maryland and the city’s mayor, Catherine Pugh, released a statement about his passing: “[He] won our hearts as a beloved community champion with an uncompromising will to reclaim neglected neighborhoods and improve the lives of the underprivileged.” “Keion knew the power of his platform, and used his opportunity and talents to not only inspire, but transform the lives of thousands of children and families,” Prayers up for Keion Carpenter’s immediate family, football family, friends, and those in Baltimore who’s lives he touched. Actress Debbie Reynolds Dies At Age 84 Man, 2016 just WILL NOT QUIT in these final few days. Just one day after Carrie Fisher passed away from heart failure , her mother, actress Debbie Reynolds, has passed away as well. According to TMZ the 84-year-old, who was in the midst of planning her daughter Carrie Fisher’s funeral , suffered a fatal stroke on Wednesday. She was taken to a local hospital shortly after 1pm, and later prnounced dead. Her son Todd tells TMZ that she seemingly willed her own death, grief-stricken over the death of daughter Carrie. While at his home making funeral plans, she told him “I miss her so much, I want to be with Carrie.” Fifteen minutes later, she suffered the stroke that claimed her life. Debbie was best known for her role in old Hollywood classics like “Singin’ In The Rain.” She also notoriously divorced actor Eddie Fisher in 1959 after his affair with Elizabeth Taylor. SMH. Kat Williams Sentenced To 36 Months Probation Katt Williams must have nine lives! The fun-sized comedian has given only 36 months probation following an incident where he assaulted a woman for “disrespecting” him reports TMZ . Katt pled no contest to assault and battery charges for allegedly beating the woman in a Studio City restaurant this summer. Katt also had to cough up $390 to pay a fine to avoid a 3-day jail sentence. We broke the story … Katt allegedly attacked a woman after he felt she disrespected him. Cops noticed visible injuries on the woman, so they cuffed him and hauled him in. Katt’s also on 5 years probation in a separate Georgia case involving guns and drugs … in which he also pled no contest earlier this month. Why can’t Katt ever get right?!

  Actress Carrie Fisher Of ‘Star Wars’ Fame Passes Away At Age 60 Just when we thought it was gonna be all good… On Chirstmas Eve we reported that Star Wars icon Carrie “Princess Leia” Fisher suffered a massive heart attack aboard a flight from London to Los Angeles. Although it was reported that she was in stable condition after being hospitalized, it appears that the incident took more out of her than was first realized. According to PEOPLE , Carrie Fisher is no longer with us. Family spokesman Simon Halls released a statement on behalf of Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd: “It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning,” reads the statement. “She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly . Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.” 2016 has been absolutely insane. We can only pray about 2017. R.I.P. to Carrie Fisher. May the force be with her. Image via Splash

Tristan Thompson Not Named On New Baby’s Birth Certificate Was Tristan Thompson too busy swirling it up with Khloe Kardashian to do his Daddy duties for his seconds-old son? As we told you Tristan’s ex Jordan popped out their newborn son on Dec. 12th in L.A. However, Tristan was apparently busy at the time, and didn’t show up to the birth — despite clearly being in town around that time, hugged up on the ‘gram with KhloMoney . According to TMZ , Tristan’s name is nowhere to be found on his newborn son’s birth certificate as a result. In California, the father has to be physically present at the hospital to officially be named as the father on the initial birth certificate. Even though the Daddy space for Jordan’s baby is currently blank, it can be added in later…and her son Prince’s last name is listed as Thompson already. We’re not sure what Jordan plans to do, but everyone knows who that baby’s Daddy is.
