Ashley Iaconetti and Jared Haibon have officially gone from paradise to perpetual bliss. So the semi-famous couple hopes, at least. The Bachelor in Paradise alums exchanged vows on Sunday evening in Rhode Island, People Magazine and other outlets have now confirmed, with Iaconetti speaking to this publication about the occasion and saying the following: “We freakishly agreed on everything. Growing up we had the exact same vision of our wedding, [doing] it as grandiose as it has become.” Added Haibon, whose dog Clark served as the precious and beyond adorable ring bearer: “We’re so accustomed to being together, and living together, that marriage is the obvious next step!” Among other beloved/well-known members of Bachelor Nation, People writes that Nick Viall, Dean Unglert and couple Jason Tartick and Kaitlyn Bristowe were in attendance at the event. It’s certainly been quite the journey for these two reality stars. Viewers met Iaconetti on Chris Soules’ season of The Bachelor … and then were introduced to Haibon on Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season of The Bachelorette. Both suitors advanced pretty far in their quest at those times to find a soulmate, but neither earned the final rose. However, they refused to give up on love and/or fame, appearing on the second season of Bachelor in Paradise. They did go on a date during this run of episode, only for Haibon to dump Iaconetti. who made it very clear during their initial time together that she was totally smitten with Jared. Still, the pair remained friends and even had a few romantic flings in the months that followed. Finally, in May of 2018, Haibon admitted that seeing Ashley with another man served as a “kick in the [rear end]” for him; it made him realize that he truly did want to be with Iaconetti. “I never felt like it was over between us after Paradise,” Jared said in a video the two filmed about a year and a half ago, adding back then: “I’m not gonna lie and say that I was in love with Ashley during BiP. It was a slow build for me.” About a month after this footage was shot, Jared proposed to Ashley — on a Season 5 episode of Bachelor in Paradise ! “There’s just this undeniable, magnetic force between the two of us that just is indescribable,” Haibon told People at the 2018 Nylon Young Hollywood Party, continuing at the time: “Love conquered.” Later, Iaconetti said the following to Bachelor alum Higgins during iHeartRadio’s The Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous Podcast: “He is my person. He is my soul mate.” How very sweet, right? As for specific details from the wedding, courtesy of People? Iaconetti wore an Ines Di Santo ballgown she purchased from Lovella in Glendale and jewels from Brooke Rayn Jewelry. Haibon chose a tuxedo from Black Tux. They exchanged Neil Lane wedding bands. Iaconetti and Haibon served New England-inspired hors d’oeuvres and treated guests to a pasta bar during cocktail hour, prior to everyone tucking into traditional wedding fare by Blackstone Catering. American Idol alum David Cook serenaded the newlyweds for their first dance with “Ever the Same.” Dunkin’ Donuts also teamed with Banga Portrait Studio to provide custom edible photo donuts as an extra-special treat. Saaid Iaconetti: “Jared and I from the very beginning have been saying we don’t want our wedding to be a party. We want it to be a romantic experience!”

Source: Patrick McMullan / Getty Kimora Lee Simmons Served With Papers In New Custody Battle Fans have always praised Kimora Lee Simmons for keeping good relationships with all of her exes, but apparently, something took a left turn in her post-relationship relationship with Djimon Hounsou . Back in June on Father’s Day, Djimon complained to paparazzi that he hasn’t been able to see his 10-year-old son in a long time, and now, he’s taking legal action to try and change that. Kimora was served with papers while walking down the street in Beverly Hills on Friday, notifying her that her ex was filing for joint custody of their child, Kenzo. Kimora maintains that Hounsou is just an absent father who rarely wanted to see his son, and that’s the only reason he hasn’t. Hansu’s filings took place on August 1, and indicate that he’s petitioning to establish a parental relationship–a step taken to officially establish who Kenzo’s parents are in the eyes of the law. That might be necessary, since he and Kimora were never legally married. Included in the docs is the fact that Djimon is seeking child support, a custody arrangement with Kimora, along with visitation rights. He is requesting joint joint legal and physical custody between both parents and asks for both parties to have equal time with the child. If the Baby Phat founder is keeping her son from his father, it could be for fear that he might take Kenzo back to Africa with him and never return. Russell Simmons told TMZ that he offered Hounsou a visit with Kenzo just a few days ago, saying that he would take his son to him as long as he signs a document promising not to take the kid to Africa. According to Russell, Djimon refused. View this post on Instagram #Thinkingofyou #KLH A post shared by Djimon Hounsou (@djimon_hounsou) on Jul 20, 2019 at 4:43pm PDT
A frican Americans are disproportionately affected by the growing diabetes epidemic. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services , Black adults are 80 percent more likely than whites to be diagnosed with diabetes. A new Chicago-based nonprofit is striving to reverse the alarming trend. According to Black News , The Suga Project is creating a space to foster conversations surrounding ways to combat Type 2 diabetes and the overall importance of Black health. The organization—which was founded by Natalie Pauls —was established to provide resources for African Americans who are battling diabetes and for others who want to get involved in addressing the epidemic. Cognizant of the rising numbers of Black folks who are affected by the disease, Pauls wanted to create a platform where they could feel empowered and supported. The Suga Project provides informative courses that teach individuals how to lead healthier lifestyles. “The numbers are startling,” Pauls said in a statement, according to the news outlet. “African Americans are four times more likely to have an amputation due to diabetes complications. African American women are dying at rates greater than any other group of women in history.” The organization’s overarching goal is to see a decrease in the number of diabetes cases within the Black community. Several individuals and organizations are working to spread awareness about diabetes amongst African Americans. Earlier this year actress Viola Davis teamed up with the pharmaceutical company Merck to narrate a documentary titled A Touch of Sugar that captures how the disease is impacting communities across the country. “I’m one of the 84 million American adults living with prediabetes and I’m sharing my story for the first time in an effort to inspire others to take action against the type 2 diabetes epidemic,” she said in a statement about the film. “When you look at the facts, there’s nothing harmless about diabetes – it’s a chronic disease that needs to be taken seriously if we’re going to get it under control.” SEE ALSO: Viola Davis Spreads Awareness About Diabetes Through New Documentary GirlTrek Movement Inspires Black Women To Take Charge Of Their Health [ione_media_gallery src=”https://newsone.com” id=”3459090″ overlay=”true”]

Through the program, organizers will also conduct research on the financial barriers derived from the cost of education and how to overcome them. “The Morehouse College Student Success Program will provide students with a liberating gift that will wipe away or greatly reduce their student loans, allowing them to pursue their dreams and lead lives of leadership and service immediately after graduation,” said Morehouse President David A. Thomas in a statement, according to the news outlet. The college’s Board of Trustees hopes that the program will serve as a blueprint for other historically Black colleges and universities. There is a huge need for programs like the one launched by the HBCU at colleges and universities across the nation. The student loan debt crisis has grown to $1.5 trillion. HBCU students are impacted the most by student loan debt. Research conducted by the United Negro College Fund revealed that 80 percent of HBCU students rely on federal loans to pay for their education. For its inaugural year, the center seeks to recruit up to 50 locally-based students to join the program. The center’s leadership team aims to engage teachers who will focus on STEM education. The initiative is being led by associate professor Julius Davis . “It feels great to know that the University System of Maryland thought that it was worth the investment to create a center for research and mentoring of Black male students and teachers at a historically Black university,” Dr. Davis said in a statement, according to the news outlet. “I’m excited to start working with the young men. I do research, but I really want to impact what’s going on in the community, where the work matters most. I hope that it will create a national reputation for Bowie State to be a center for excellence for looking at black male students and black male teachers.” News about the creation of the center comes at a time where teachers of color are underrepresented. According to Teach for America , only 2 percent of teachers in American public schools are Black men.
