Selena Gomez Clarifies New Tattoo

Our bad, Selena Gomez. Along with almost every other media outlet, we mistakenly identified this singer’s new tattoo as a mini heart, even going so far as assuming it was chosen by the 19-year old in honor of boyfriend Justin Bieber. But Gomez cleared up the misconception last night. “It’s a music note,” she told Marc Malkin of E! News. “I was named after a singer and music obviously is a big influence for me. And there’s music stuff with my mom that means a lot to me, too.” Fair enough. And far more sensible than permanently marking your body in honor of a boy. Even if that boy is Justin Bieber .

Whitney Houston Family: Devastated Over National Enquirer Photo

The family of Whitney Houston is reacting to The National Enquirer posting a photo of that singer’s corpse as you might expect: with outrage and heartbreak. TMZ cites sources who say Whitney’s mother, Cissy, is especially distraught over the tabloid actually taking this measure, but there are no plans to open any kind of investigation into the source of this photo, which the newspaper has the nerve to refer to as ” beautiful .” Meanwhile, Carolyn Whigham, owner of the Whigham Funeral Home in Newark, tells The Daily News that neither she nor her staff had anything to do with the image or its leak. “We did not take that photo. We did not sell the photo. We would never do something like that,” she said to the newspaper . “Whitney was a friend. I’m the one who flew to Los Angeles and got Whitney from the coroner’s office. I did everything to protect her.”

According to a new report, the family of Whitney Houston has more reasons than ever to be concerned over the future of Bobbi Kristina Brown. The 18-year old daughter of Whitney and Bobby Brown has been in the spotlight ever since her mother passed away, with loved ones supposedly so concerned over her spiraling state that they were pushing all week for her to enter rehab – and that was prior to the latest alleged incident. Whitney and Bobbi Kristina, during healthier times. Following Houston’s funeral on Saturday, sources tell The Daily Beast that family members were “freaking out” because they could not locate Bobbi Kristina. The combination of her mother’s passing, and the controversy surrounding her father’s early exit from the memorial – Bobby Brown showed up with an entourage, got angry over his seating assignment and departed after just 20 minutes – was just too much for the teenager to handle, according to those on the scene. She was reportedly found at a hotel “getting high.” “It’s a horrible situation for everybody,” says this family friend. “They tried to save Whitney, and it didn’t work. Now with Bobbi Kristina, they fear the same thing is happening again and they won’t be able to stop it either. Bobbi Kristina is all Ms. Cissy has left of Whitney. She’s so tired, but she’s ready to fight again to save her grandbaby.” Whitney was buried yesterday and now the Houstons will truly start to consider whether Bobbi should be entered into a treatment facility. Says a family spokesperson of the incident on Saturday night: “There was some confusion about Bobbi Kristina’s whereabouts last night for a short time, but she’s OK. She needed some time alone…. She is going through a very hard time as you can expect.”

Kevin Costner Remembers Whitney Houston at Funeral [Video]

Whitney Houston’s close friend and The Bodyguard co-star Kevin Costner delivered a touching speech at her funeral yesterday in Newark, New Jersey. He recalled to mourners gathered at the church and fans watching online that Houston, despite her fame, was a humble woman who doubted herself. “The greatest pop star in the world didn’t think she was good enough,” Costner, 57, said of Houston, who died of a possible overdose last week at 48. “There were a thousand things that seemed to her to be wrong.” Kevin Costner Euolgy For Whitney Houston Kevin said there were many men who could’ve played his part in their iconic 1992 film, after which he remained close to Houston, but there was only one Whitney. When she was screen-testing for the role, which was put in production a year later than slated because she was on tour, Whitney Houston asked herself: “Am I good enough? Am I pretty enough? Will they like me?” As those attending the funeral laughed, Costner recalled how she almost sabotaged herself re-touching her own makeup, which melted under the studio lighting. “I wanted to tell her that the game was rigged, that I didn’t care how the test went, that she could fall down and start speaking tongues,” he said. “That no matter what she did, I’d find a way to explain it as an extraordinary acting choice. And gee, weren’t we lucky to have her?” Indeed. R.I.P.

Family, friends and celebrities packed into the Newark church where Whitney Houston grew up and remembered the late singer’s voice, love and — most of all — faith at her homegoing service Saturday. The nearly four-hour service featured performances from Alicia Keys, R. Kelly, the Winans family, Stevie Wonder and others. Many of the performers adapted lyrics in tribute to Houston, including Kim Burrell and Stevie Wonder, who altered his version of one of Houston’s favorite songs, “Ribbon in the Sky.” Houston died a week ago at age 48 in Los Angeles. Many of the speakers spoke about Whitney Houston’s Baptist background and her strong faith in God, including an emotional Tyler Perry, who received a standing ovation. “I am completely thankful to God for all he has done her life,” Perry said. “There is a grace that kept on carrying her. … Whitney Houston loved the Lord.” Actor Kevin Costner also received a standing ovation after he spoke of Houston’s courage when she tried out for a starring role with him in the 1992 movie “The Bodyguard.” Oprah Winfrey, Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Spike Lee, Roberta Flack, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Rev. Al Sharpton and Houston’s former husband, Bobby Brown, were among those in attendance. Brown and his entourage later left the church during the service, but there are conflicting reports as to why he left. Bobby Brown Releases Statement On Why He Left Whitney’s Funeral [VIDEO]

More:

Whitney Houston was remembered with a joyous homegoing service today in her hometown of Newark, New Jersey, but some controversy erupted over Bobby Brown’s appearance at his ex-wife’s funeral. For some reason Bobby left during the service, and he has released a statement explaining why. CNN reported that Bobby Brown along with his other children and family members and were not able to be seated in the church because of the size of his entourage. After being asked several times by security to move, Bobby and his family exited the funeral. Bobby released the following statement explaining the situation: “My children and I were invited to the funeral of my ex-wife Whitney Houston. We were seated by security and then subsequently asked to move on three separate occasions. “I fail to understand why security treated my family this way and continue to ask us and no one else to move. Security then prevented me from attempting to see my daughter Bobbi-Kristina. In light of the events, I gave a kiss to the casket of my ex-wife and departed as I refused to create a scene. My children are completely distraught over the events. This was a day to honor Whitney. I doubt Whitney would have wanted this to occur. I will continue to pay my respects to my ex-wife the best way I know how.” In the video below, Bobby Brown could be seen comforting one of his sons while waiting for their escort from the funeral.
