Whitney Houston Death Certificate Released, Uninformative

The official death certificate for Whitney Houston has been filed with Los Angeles County and made available to the public – but it reveals very little about the singer that we didn’t already know. The document runs through the basics – name, date of birth, occupation (“entertainer”), marital status, next of kin ( Bobbi Kristina ) and place of death – and also confirms that she’ll be buried at the Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, New Jersey. But it lists “deferred” pending further investigation as the cause of Whitney’s death. It’s strongly believed, of course, that Houston died because s he mixed prescription pills with alcohol , but no specific drugs have been confirmed. Autopsy results may not be back for weeks. Below, meanwhile, watch Janet Jackson speak to Anderson Cooper about this tragedy. Janet Jackson Speaks on Whitney Houston

Was she wrong? Gabrielle Union has defended her decision to attend Clive Davis’ annual pre-Grammy Awards party last Saturday just hours after the death of Whitney Houston: “I think if you weren’t there, I could understand [being upset]. We made a judgment call after [P. Diddy] and Clive talked to the family and they said, ‘Please go,’ basically to provide a more balanced view of Whitney’s life.” Gabrielle also revealed that Whitney’s friends and family were angry that focus had been shifted to her drug addiction rather than celebrating her life. “Domani’s Teacher Called, She Said He Sucks,” “T.I & Tiny: The Family Hustle” [RECAP]

Read the original:

“T.I & Tiny: The Family Hustle” aired another episode last night with this one focusing on Domani, his school performance and his first video shoot. When Tip learns that Domani isn’t doing well in school, he tells Domani that his motto should  be “God, Family, School and Hustle,” in that order. He understand that Domani wants to shoot a video for his first single, but Tip has a plan to get Domani more focused on school. Tip plans to take his son to a video shoot and get him all hyped up about shooting his own video, and then rip the dream right from under him by telling him that if he doesn’t get his act together in school then there will be NO VIDEOS for Domani. Well said. Domani works hard to get his act together in school and then two weeks later he returns home to show Tip that he’s made the honor roll. See what you can do when you put your mind to it! Domani gives Tip his idea for the video shoot, which involved President Barack Obama, Ben Franklin, doing the dougie and $100 bills everywhere. Sounds like fun! When they finally get to the video shoot, Domani realizes that his big video dreams have been halted to a mere $2,000 budget with Tip’s assistant, Snake, as the video’s director and his brothers and the OMG Girlz as his video talents. When the camera’s start rolling, Domani doesn’t know what to do, what camera to look at and how to conduct himself. Tip hangs his head saying, “Hes half-assing again. His name shoulda been Half-Ass Harris.” Eventually Domani finally gets his life together, and does an amazing job at his video shoot! Looks like another star is born in the Harris household! Whitney Houston Private Funeral Set For Saturday In New Jersey

See original here:

Whitney Houston’s funeral will take place at the church where she grew up in Newark, New Jersey this Saturday. The funeral will be private and will take place at the New Hope Baptist Church in Houston’s hometown of Newark. There will be no public service. Carolyn Whigham, owner of Whigham Funeral Home, told the NY Daily News that the singer’s family had personally made the arrangements and the service would be by “invitation only.” Speaking on behalf of Houston’s grieving family, Whigham said: “They thank all of the fans and friends and the media, but at this time this is their private time. They shared her for 30 some years with the city, with the state, with the world. This is their time now for their farewell to their daughter, mother.” Whigham said the family collectively made the decision to have the funeral at New Hope Baptist Church, where Houston sang as a child. “I’ve know this family for many, many, many years,” said Whigham. “From an emotional standpoint, this is very difficult for all of us. It’s a double-sided sword. You have a mother grieving. You have a daughter grieving. You have two brothers grieving. This is really hard. They’re very close. They are our family and we are grieving along with them.” Whigham said Houston’s body would not be buried in Newark but declined to elaborate on the location of her final resting place. Houston’s body was flown to New Jersey by a private jet belonging to film director Tyler Perry from Los Angeles on Monday. Read more at the NY Daily News. Jonas Brothers Promise New Album By Year’s End

‘We’ve lived a lot of life,’ Kevin Jonas teases MTV News about what to expect on their first LP in three years. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Matt Elias Jonas Brothers Photo: MTV News It’s been nearly three years since the Jonas Brothers released an album together. And a lot has happened for the trio, both personally and professionally, since they dropped 2009’s Lines, Vines and Trying Times. Now, with all of that life experience under their belts, the guys are ready to hit the recording studio again. “In the next few weeks, we’re going to be going to New York and we’re gonna start writing for another project,” Joe told MTV News. The NYC trip probably has something to do with visiting little brother Nick, who is currently starring in Broadway’s “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.” “It’s going to be, I think, our best record yet. I’m so excited.” The JoBros have been teasing fans for some time now about getting the band back together, and those plans seem to be coming to fruition. Kevin noted that they have a lot to say this time around. “We’ve lived a lot of life. … Joe and Nick have just released amazing projects and I’m so proud of them for that,” Kevin said. “They’ve had things in their hearts they wanted to put out there [and] now it’s going to be great. We’re all doing different things, living different parts of life and getting to experience it all together again. It’s going to be lots of fun.” As for when fans will get to hear the new album, Kevin promised it will drop “when it’s ready.” Joe, however, had a more definitive time frame for the highly anticipated release. “We want to be able to do things this year,” he said. “We have plans that nobody really knows about yet, performances that are already lined up and we have music already recorded too … our [aim] is probably close to the end of the year or next year.” Are you eager for new music from the Jonas Brothers? Whitney Houston’s Death Won’t Halt ‘Waiting To Exhale’ Sequel

‘It’s almost in her honor that we think to soldier on,’ Fox executive says. By Kara Warner Loretta Devine, Whitney Houston, Angela Bassett and Lela Rochon in “Waiting to Exhale” Photo: 20th Century Fox Those of you who have been patiently waiting for a “Waiting to Exhale” sequel since falling in love with the original in 1995 might soon have a reason to “Exhale” again, despite the tragic death of co-star Whitney Houston . According to New York magazine’s Vulture blog, Fox wants to make something positive of the tragedy and is planning on moving forward with the project in honor of Houston. “I don’t think she would want it to [be shelved],” Fox 2000 Pictures president Elizabeth Gabler told . “It’s almost in her honor that we think to soldier on.” Gabler, who worked on the original film, said the feel-good movie about four middle-class African-American women dealing with love and loss in the suburbs was a ground-breaker. “This was the biggest barrier-buster for color lines,” she said. “[Audiences] practically tore the theater down; we couldn’t get them to leave. All these young women in their twenties and thirties wanted to stay and talk about what they’d just seen: Suburban women drinking Chablis who weren’t living in the projects or stuck in gangs.” The studio picked up the rights to “Exhale” author Terry McMillan’s sequel, “Getting to Happy,” and has reportedly placed the film on a fast track of sorts, making plans to hire new writers to work on the script under the supervision of the original film’s director, Forest Whitaker. Although nobody has been approached about taking over Houston’s role, Gabler mentioned the possibility of “Exhale” supporter Oprah Winfrey coming on-board either to produce or potentially be in the film. “We literally have not talked about anybody for that part,” Gabler said. “Forest, I know, is just … grieving. He’d been the one who was speaking with her, updating [Houston] on its progress.” Although Houston’s co-stars have not yet commented on their intentions to continue plans with the sequel, they did express their extreme sadness upon hearing the news of their friend and former co-star’s death. “I am so thankful to have been enveloped by the warmth of Whitney’s great talents. They were undeniable and vast,” Angela Bassett said in a statement. “Whatever her burdens, she has at last laid them down and picked up instead a crown. For truly, she was and will ever be for us — who were so captivated by her strengths — unparalleled.” “I am overwhelmed. I cannot wrap my mind around this. I missed the chance to see her at a party this past Thursday and when we spoke last she had just finished ‘Sparkle’ and she told me how excited she was to start production on ‘Waiting to Exhale 2’ with Angela, Lela [Rochon] and myself,” Loretta Devine said. “My prayers go out to her family and I am so honored for the time I spent working with her on ‘Waiting to Exhale,’ ‘The Preacher’s Wife’ and on ‘Boston Public.’ I love you, Whitney, and I will miss your easy laugh.” Share your condolences with Whitney’s family and friends on our Facebook page.
