Using evocative photographs, newly unearthed footage and interviews with the Lovings’ daughter and lawyers, the film reveals the power of love to overcome bigotry.

Wiz Khalifa Says His First Album Could Have Been Better.[Expilicit]

View post:

Wiz took to his Tumblir to talk about his last album. He admits it wasn’t his best. “Im high as fuck and don’t even know to start this so ima just say thank you to everyone who’s supported the TAYLOR GANG movement and showed love up to this point. We’ve all grown so much since i first came onto the scene and most of all inspired a whole new generation of muh fuggas who aren’t afraid to be themselves and unite. Before there were Taylors, the game was lacking fun, unity, positivity, and love for one another. Shit, your favorite rappers weren’t even getting paid well. You guys changed that, and the game shld forever be in debt to you. I remember getting 500 dollars for a show to fly out and see kids who had no idea what a wiz khalifa was, and you crazy muh fuggas showed up. Had a great time, and spread the word. Its ya’lls spirit who revived the rap game and brought back the true art to this shit. Your demand for live shows made it possible for a lot of rappers to come from nothing and feed their families. Promoters too, more kids are managers, dj’s videographers. Shit everyones eating. Thanx to you Taylors!!!! Take credit for that shit. Lol Moving forward we gotta take that positivity with us. Theres tons of different crews now which is so inspiring because people are finding their own voice and unique lane. As Taylor Gang WE FUCK WIT EVERYBODY. We aren’t afraid to say we’re fans of other artists and bump their music, go to their shows and promote them to the top. Showing equal love. Thass Taylor’d. Dnt let anyone ruin your spirit or make you feel uncomfortable about what you like. What we say goes. Not them. Thass what started this whole thing regardless of what people think. Sayin fuck them and doin what makes us feel free. Dnt let anyone take ur view on things and twist it against you. Dnt let em make you feel like you weren’t the first. Anyone questioning my choice in clothing as of lately (lol) I’ll just go out and say that it was needed. In a climate where everyone is looking and sounding the same, i always try to inspire my fans to be different. And i lead by example. At one point the way I used to dress was considered “different” but now its very much the norm and accepted. Which is cool. Thass what we do it for, but the next step had to be made. Im older, my wife is a supermodel, and ima trippy ass nigga. My clothes reflect that. My toms cost $45. My Louboutins cost $2500. Moving on to the music, I haven’t been this excited about any of my projects ever. I remember when i made kush and orange juice, I listened to it and knew I had created a new genre that wld change music. The mistake i made on Rolling Papers was thinking it was time to move on from that genre not knowing that it had impacted people so much. The album did great numbers, but creatively wasn’t my best work. No regrets though. We live and we learn. So for my fans sake and own personal enjoyment, Ive gone further into the world we’ve created and elaborated on our genre with the mixtape Taylor Allderdice and of course my sophomore album ONIFC. Im so confident in the artistry and creativity of these projects because so much living went along with them. These aren’t songs aimed to be hits or widely accepted or even understood. Iss for people who live like us and can relate. And informative to those who can’t. Either way we’re inviting mu fuggas deep into our world and I can’t wait. I got new visuals, a new clothing line, and the new show is gonna be amazing. This is for us. Taylor Gang Or Die.” -O.N.I.F.C

Jesus Take The Wheel: Bloody Cycle Of Violence In Philadelphia Leaves The City With The Highest Homicide Rate In The Country

SMH at news outlets calling it “Kill-adelphia”… It’s not even the end of February and Philly has had more homicides than there have been days in 2012: Out of the nation’s 10 largest cities, Philadelphia’s homicide rate is the worst. Last year ended with 324 homicides, up from 306 in 2010. And just one month into this year, there has been on average more than one homicide each day in Philadelphia, with many of the 34 deaths unfolding like episodes on “Law & Order.” A man ambushed a car packed with teens — killing three of them — for feuding with his stepsons. A pizza delivery man was shot in the back during a robbery. Another man was beaten to death hailing a cab on a busy downtown street. Then there was the retribution killing of Fernandez-Rivera, the store clerk and alleged murder witness. Aside from the murders, there have been ruthless beatings. On January 2, an off-duty police officer and Iraq war veteran was punched and kicked until he was unconscious outside a landmark restaurant after the Winter Classic hockey game. A couple of weeks later, a 64-year-old Vietnam veteran on his way to meet his wife at the bus stop was attacked and robbed by two teens. “I think folks are desperate. I think they’re desperate and come from a culture where they learn the way to handle an argument is with a gun,” said Chuck Williams, director of the Center for the Prevention of School-Aged Violence at Drexel University. Williams, an education professor at Drexel University, works with educators and youth to prevent school fights, shootings and cyberbullying. “Although the streets don’t offer anything positive, to a lot of the young people, a lot of the boys, the young black men, (the streets are) consistent,” he said. “They know where they stand (on the streets).” Philadelphia’s mayor has made it clear the city is waging an all-out war against violent criminals. “If you want to act like an idiot, if you want to be an a-hole, if you want to be a low-life in this town, we will track you down like the dog that you are,” Mayor Michael Nutter told CNN affiliate KYW last month. At the end of January, city officials unveiled new crimefighting measures, including a reward of $20,000 for information solving a homicide and $500 for locating illegal guns, plus funding for the witness assistance program and increasing police presence. The city’s daily violence has news outlets once again branding the city “Kill-adelphia.” Public safety advocate Anthony Murphy said the moniker is unfair. He urged critics to “look beyond the body count.” “We aren’t all going out shooting each other randomly. Things have happened, yes. There’s a challenge, yes. But Kill-adelphia? No. Should you be afraid to be in Philadelphia? No,” said Murphy, executive director for Town Watch Integrated Services, an organization of volunteers who patrol neighborhoods. “Police can’t do everything. We have a responsibility to address the challenges in our community.” That responsibility, Murphy said, starts with establishing a positive foundation for youth, particularly when it comes to conflict resolution. Arguments are the leading motive for murder, and blacks make up nearly 84% of the homicide victims, according to police data. Stopping arguments from escalating to deadly violence is a priority at City Hall. “Prevention (is) a key portion of what we’re doing,” said Everett Gillison, Nutter’s chief of staff and deputy mayor for public safety. “But also just getting the community to act as one and come forward and say ‘enough is enough. This stuff has got to stop.’ “ True, indeed. This violence MUST stop. Via CNN

Bishop Eddie Long’s Finances Put Under Microsope [VIDEO]

The rest is here:

Before Bishop Eddie Long came under fire for settling sexual abuse charges against him out of court when he vowed to fight them, Long’s finances were under scrutiny in a congressional investigation by Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley. WSB-TV starting looking into Long’s assets more than six months ago. Now with his wife Vanessa filing for divorce, Long’s finances are under the microscope. WSB-TV found very little paperwork because the church and its dozens of affiliated companies file very few public documents. Records show Long’s assets have been intertwined with New Birth’s assets for years, including New Birth paying approximately $200,000 in property taxes for Long and $85,000 in taxes for his private plane. Long’s financial troubles appear to be mounting. In addition to the undisclosed financial settlement to five young men who accused him of sexual abuse last summer, records show Long has agreed to pay nearly $2 million to settle a defaulted bank loan, he owes $200,000 to a developer, and in October church members sued Long for over $1 million in failed investments sold by a man he endorsed. WSB-TV requested an interview with Long, but a spokesperson told reporter Jodie Fleischer the bishop was too busy. Blake Lively Covers Elle, Doesn’t Sleep Around

In March’s issue of Elle , Gossip Girl star Blake Lively shows off her ridiculously good looks and fashion sense, modeling a red-hot Michael Kors swimsuit, suede and patent leather sandals by Pierre Hardy, a Blumarine jacket and other items. Items most mortals couldn’t afford, and wouldn’t help us look as good as her anyway. Oh well! Did we mention she also dates Ryan Reynolds? Some people … On top of all that, Blake actually seems like a cool girl and pretty down to Earth for a star on the rise. Excerpts from the 24-year-old’s interview with Elle … On the men in her life : “I’ve had four boyfriends in my whole life. I’ve never been with anyone that’s not a boyfriend. If I spend time with a man, it’s because I think there’s somebody that I know well who has been a friend for a while.“ On not having a stylist : “When I go to an event, I’ll send Christian (Louboutin) a picture of my outfit and say, ‘What shoes do you think I should wear with this?’” On kids : “I hope to have a few girls one day. If not girls, they better be trannies. I have some amazing shoes and bags and stories that need to be appreciated.” On reports that she and Ryan are apartment hunting : “Newspapers say a lot of stuff. I wish I could afford half the places I hear I’m looking at. Sign me up!” Click to enlarge the Blake Lively pictures below:
