Apparently, cigarettes are deadly in more ways than one. Not only do they cause cancer — they cause people to make poor decisions, like leaving a baby alone on a train. Cleveland Regional Transit Authority released surveillance video of a man stepping off a train to smoke a cigarette and then chasing after it when it leaves the station with his baby on board. WKYT reports: “The train’s driver learned about the baby on board before it arrived at the next station, which was just a minute away. RTA officials responded and quickly returned to the station where the father was reunited with the child. Hopefully the child’s mom takes the kid with her from now on. Sheesh.

According to her series of tweets, Ayesha is saying that a Houston fan bumped her on her 8-month pregnant belly, then proceeded to taunt her with his phone. The video was posted on Twitter, and you can hear the Rockets fan talking ish about both Steph Curry’s wife and father. Though there was the video snippet posted online, Ayesha says that she wishes the whole interaction was caught so she wouldn’t be so misunderstood. He wrote a lengthy note explaining that first and foremost, he didn’t know Ayesha was pregnant because he doesn’t keep up with The Warriors or Steph Curry. Unless you’ve tuned out the news entirely due to the events of the past nine months, you’re probably aware that O.J. Simpson was granted parole last week. Yes, the Juice will soon be loose after serving nine years in prison on robbery charges. A lengthy bid, to be sure, but O.J. got off pretty easy when you consider he totally allegedly murdered two people. Anyway, O.J. was sentenced to an astonishing 33 years, and some folks believed he’d never live to see his release date. But now, Simpson is soon to be a free man once again, and many who were once close to the former NFL star/probable double murderer are understandably a bit worried. Among the concerned parties are several members of the Kardashian clan. The family was once close with O.J. but the relationship was damaged irreparably by that whole “him almost certainly killing two people” thing. We learned earlier this week that Kris and Caitlyn Jenner are “terrified” by the news of O.J.’s impending release. And now it seems they may not be alone in their totally justified fear of a seriously scary dude. Radar Online has spoken with a former cellmate of Simpson’s named Vernon Nelson, and based on the ex-con’s claims, Kim Kardashian may want to double down on her security detail. It seems O.J. is quite displeased with Kim for comments she made on Keeping Up With the Kardashians implying that he’s guilty of the murders of Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson. “Simpson griped, ‘I always treated Kim with respect. I don’t know why she would dog me out, but I guess she will do anything to promote their reality show.’” Nelson wrote in an email interview with the site. The former inmate also claims that Simpson blasted Kim with “very powerful and serious” insults that “made the hairs on my arm stand up!” Ominously, when Nelson asked Simpson if he had a message for those on the outside who he felt had wronged him, the former football star seethed: “Tell them to expect me like they’re expecting Jesus to come back because I’m coming!” We’re no biblical scholars, but we’re pretty sure Jesus didn’t come back, like, to stab everyone. Thankfully, it’s unlikely that the 70-year-old Simpson would ever be able to get anywhere near the heavily-guarded Kim, but still. There is no part of this story that isn’t absolutely tragic. Remember how an 18-year-old girl livestreamed herself appearing to lose control of her vehicle , resulting in the death of her own younger sister? There was a third person in the car who wasn’t initially identified in reports. That third person, a girl named Manuela Seja, survived with a leg injury and is now speaking about the death of her girlfriend, Jacqueline Sanchez. Obdulia Sanchez is 18 years old, and was driving her younger sister, Jacqueline, and Jacqueline’s girlfriend, Manuela Seja, back home to Stockton, California. Obdulia Sanchez’s statements in the alleged recording of the incident are already pretty famous. “I f-ing killed my sister, okay. I know I’m going to jail for life alright. I understand that. This is the last thing I wanted to happen — okay. Alright, I don’t f—ing care though — I’m-a hold it down.” Understandably, she was and very likely is overwhelmed with feelings of grief and guilt. (They may also end up being used against her in court) Obdulia has been arrested on the suspicion that she was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, as well as for the accident and death itself. Police are investigating the vehicle and looking into the livestream video, which could potentially be used as evidence. Precisely what caused Obdulia to lose control and ultimately for the vehicle to flip are unclear. Initial reports suggested that Obdulia had struck a curb and overcorrected, losing control at such a high speed. It is also possible that a tire blew out. While she obviously should not have been livestreaming while driving, it’s important that we wait to condemn her until we find out exactly what was going on. Jacqueline Sanchez and Manuela Seja met on Instagram and became friends. Over time, their friendship became romantic, and Jacqueline and Manuela dated for seven months before Jacqueline’s death. Manuela lives in Fresno and Jacqueline lived in Stockton. 130 miles is a long distance for a teenage relationship, but young love is powerful. The girls had made a commitment to see each other every weekend. Obdulia was helping her younger sister by driving the girls so that they’d be able to hang out and see each other. This time, they didn’t make it — the tragic crash happened in Los Banos. Manuela remembers Jacqueline , who was supposed to celebrate her quinceanera on Sunday. She’ll treasure those memories for the rest of her life. A huge part of how she describes Jacqueline is her sense of humor. “She wasn’t like everybody else. She was just funny and she would be funny. She didn’t even need to try.” She has a box of treasured memories with her girlfriend — a gift that Jacqueline had made for her. “I never thought this would happen.” No one does, but especially not a 14-year-old who has probably had very little experience with death. Like Jacqueline father said in his own statement, Manuela doesn’t seem to be angry with Obdulia. “Honestly, I’m not mad at anybody and I don’t blame anybody.” The fact that this girl who lost her girlfriend of seven months and was a witness isn’t blaming Obdulia makes us hope that investigators take a good, hard look at the evidence before they move things any further. Obdulia’s excited utterance over her sister’s body is inflammatory, but not proof that it was genuinely her fault. Manuela has some words of wisdom after the crash. “It’s all affected by social media. That’s what life is now. And it’s going to advance more and more. That what it’s going to be about.” It’s not clear if she’s talking about people recording for social media when they should be driving, or if she just means people talking about blame via social media. Either way, Manuela is right. A teen streamed her own death on Facebook Live late last year. Just weeks ago, a woman livestreamed her own horrific death in a car accident in which she was the passenger. Whether technology plays a role in distracting drivers or not, streaming means that there can be dozens or millions of witnesses to someone’s death. Sometimes without any warning whatsoever. Very likely the only thing that will put an end to livestreamed vehicular deaths will be when autonomous cars dominate the roadways, making them much safer for everyone involved. But until almost every car is driving itself, it looks like we’re going to see another decade or so of people recording their own deaths.
This is just not Kendall Jenner’s year, is it? It seems like every single time she turns around, she makes another dumb choice that outrages the masses. At this point, it’s looking like the girl will literally never learn. First, Kendall agreed to be in that seriously stupid Pepsi commercial , the one that posed the theory that being handed a can of soda by a Jenner will bring about world peace. And sure, she didn’t write the commercial, but she did agree to star in it, which was a questionable choice at best. After that, she and Kylie Jenner, for some reason we still can’t quite understand, thought it would be cool to sell t-shirts featuring images of famous musicians superimposed with photos of their own faces . For a few ridiculous days, you could purchase a Notorious B.I.G. shirt that also featured Kendall’s image and that … was not right. Biggie’s mother threatened legal action, and we’re assuming the estates of some of the other artists featured on the shirts did as well. Kendall issued an apology , explaining that the shirts were “not well thought out” and that “it was not our intention to disrespect these cultural icons in any way.” But still, she and Kylie thought it was a good idea to sell those shirts … maybe just try thinking a little more next time? Unfortunately, thinking does not seem to be one of Kendall’s strong points. Yesterday, she shared a new photo of herself totally nude and lying on a table. The nudity was cool and all, but Kendall ruined it by holding a cigarette in her hand. In her caption, she explained “I don’t smoke,” but still, no one was impressed. It’s 2017: the vast majority of people don’t think smoking is cool, they don’t think it looks cool, and they’re not exactly down with models holding them to look cute or whatever. And the comments on the photo reflect that. As one person wrote, sure, Kendall says she doesn’t smoke, “but you make smoke look elegant and cool. What’s the difference then?” “So do you think it is cool to hold it in your hand?” another person asked her. “Very bad and thoughtless act.” One of her followers asked her to “Stop glamorizing smoking please. It is unhealthy and with this picutre, you make it seem as if it was a talent.” “Shame about the cigarette,” yet another person commented, “shame about advertising a drug that continues to kill, causes significant debilitation, causes health departments large proportions of their budget, prematurely ages you, can cause diabetes among many other things …” “Not to mention the damage cigarette butts have on our environment, particularly our wildlife. Austin Dawkins, 37, of Clarkesville will be charged with reckless conduct, according to a statement from the state fire safety commissioner, Ralph Hudgens. Dawkins’ wife, 30-year-old Jessica Dawkins, suffered second- and third-degree burns to her legs, arms, back and head at a Clarkesville gas station on October 16, Hudgens said. A gas station surveillance video released by Hudgens shows the couple standing outside the truck near the gas nozzle when Austin Dawkins appeared to ignite his cigarette lighter and then lower his hand to the nozzle. The video shows flame shooting from the nozzle and burning Jessica Dawkins while Austin Dawkins rushes to remove the nozzle.
