‘Perks Of Being A Wallflower’ Star A ‘Lucky Guy’ To Kiss Emma Watson

Logan Lerman, Ezra Miller and Watson debuted film’s first trailer during MTV Movie Awards. By Amy Wilkinson, with reporting by Eric Ditzian Logan Lerman arrives at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Emma Watson and Logan Lerman for Movie Awards Best Kiss in 2013? It could happen! The two actors, along with co-star Ezra Miller , were on hand at the 2012 MTV Movie Awards pre-show to introduce the first trailer for their coming-of-age film ” The Perks of Being a Wallflower ,” an adaptation of Stephen Chbosky’s 1999 novel published by MTV Books. The story centers around introverted Charlie (Lerman), who’s lured out of his shell by step-siblings Sam (Watson) and Patrick (Miller) and introduced to a world of sex, drugs and, of course, rock and roll. Charlie nurses an unrequited crush on newfound friend Sam throughout most of the narrative. And while the trailer only hinted at a few tender moments shared between the two characters, you better believe there will be some lip-locking to be had when the movie hits theaters September 14. And according to Lerman, those scenes weren’t too hard to handle. “It happened in front of a crew, and people were there, and we did it a few times. And that was it,” Lerman recalled of his cinematic smooch with Watson. “It’s kind of odd when you’re doing it for a movie. It’s kind of weird. She’s cool. It wasn’t as awkward as it could have been. It’s Emma Watson, so I’m a lucky guy.” Yet, Lerman couldn’t help but wonder what it would have been like had his impressions of the moment been less than savory. “What if I was complaining, though? ‘Oh, God. I had to kiss that girl!’ ” he joked. We have a feeling a number of actors would have been happy to take your place, Logan. Jaw-dropping, heart-pounding, gut-busting moments galore. ‘Avengers’ Becomes Third-Highest-Grossing Movie Ever

Superhero flick trails behind two James Cameron blockbusters in the first and second all-time-gross spots. By Terri Schwartz Chris Hemsworth and Scarlett Johansson in the “Avengers” Photo: Marvel Watch out James Cameron because “The Avengers” is coming for you next. Marvel’s all-star team of superheroes has officially become the number-three highest-grossing movie of all time in the United States as well as worldwide, besting “The Dark Knight” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2” for the honor. As of June 1, the movie made $538 million domestically and $1.3 billion worldwide, placing it behind only Cameron’s “Titanic” and “Avatar.” That’s not the only number-three spot “The Avengers” is in. “Snow White and the Huntsman” has debuted with a strong $20 million Friday gross in its debut weekend, knocking “Men in Black 3” from its top spot last weekend. “MIB3” came in second on Friday with an $8.3 million intake, while “The Avengers” rounded out the top three with $5.7 million. In all likelihood, that ranking will be indicative of the rest of the weekend as well. Considering “The Avengers” has been in theaters for a month, that’s some pretty strong continued momentum. We’ll attribute some of it to fans wanting to support their favorite Avengers going into the 2012 MTV Movie Awards weekend. Captain America and Thor are facing off against each other in the Best Hero category, but they’ve got some stiff competition in the form of Harry Potter, Katniss Everdeen and “21 Jump Street” ‘s Jenko. There’s only a very slim chance that “The Avengers” will climb any higher on the all-time box-office charts. In the U.S., it would have to top $659 million to oust Cameron’s “Titanic” and cross $761 million to beat “Avatar.” And it seems even less likely that it will pass either of those movies worldwide, as it would have to more than double its international grosses. Still, not too shabby for Marvel’s group of superheroes. Related Videos MTV Rough Cut: ‘The Avengers’ Related Photos ‘Avengers’ Snow White And The Huntsman

Kristen Stewart Takes Us Inside Her Most Difficult ‘Snow White’ Scene

Best Kiss nominee and Movie Awards presenter says she was ‘so not ready’ for film’s emotionally charged speech. By Amy Wilkinson, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Kristen Stewart Photo: MTV News UNIVERSAL CITY, California — In her latest film, “Snow White and the Huntsman,” actress Kristen Stewart proves that the fabled heroine is not only fair, but incredibly fierce. Suiting up in armor and wielding a glinting sword, Snow White must save her kingdom from the clutches of her evil stepmother, Queen Ravenna (played by Charlize Theron ). Yet, for as much onscreen bravery as she showed, Stewart was admittedly apprehensive about one scene in particular, she revealed during Sneak Peek Week, leading up to the 2012 MTV Movie Awards tomorrow at 9 p.m. ET, where the actress is also a presenter. Stewart, along with co-star Sam Claflin , took to the Universal Studios CityWalk stage to debut an exclusive clip from the film and participate in a 30-minute Q&A session. When asked by a fan in the audience which scene was the most emotional for her to film, the Best Kiss nominee hesitated before recalling a moment late in the movie in which Snow White rallies her troops. Clad in a billowing white gown, Stewart delivers a rousing monologue, encouraging the townspeople to take up arms against the Queen — not for her sake but for their own. “It kept getting kicked to the end of the schedule. It was like, ‘I’m so not ready for that; put that one off a little longer,’ ” Stewart recalled. “Every single day we were re-writing it. I still need to frame that thing — laminate it somehow and give it to Rupert [Sanders] the director — the different renditions of it. It’s disintegrating.” Co-star Claflin was quick to praise Stewart for her performance in the movie’s pivotal moment. “The girl was wearing no shoes in the coldest day of English history and was wearing, like, a nightie,” Claflin said. “I don’t know how she did it, honestly. Man power. Woman power. Girl power … she did a smashing job on that.” Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to vote for your favorite flicks now! Russell Brand Has Free Reign As Movie Awards Host

‘There is no yelling at Russell,’ executive producer Jesse Ignjatovic tells MTV News about the host’s big night. By Josh Wigler, with reporting by Josh Horowitz and Jim Cantiello Russell Brand Photo: MTV News UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Russell Brand is like John Locke : Nobody tells him what he can and can’t do. When the British actor and comedian steps onto the Gibson Amphitheatre’s stage Sunday night as host of the MTV Movie Awards , he’ll be able to do literally whatever he wants — he just might get yelled at about it later. Speaking with MTV News’ Josh Horowitz ahead of his Movie Awards appearance, Brand was asked if there are any restrictions on what he can or cannot do, what he can or cannot say, come the big evening. According to the man himself, the answer is a resounding “no,” but that doesn’t mean there isn’t the threat of consequences looming over his head. “[The producers] just go, ‘Do whatever you want!’ And then one hour later they’ll say, ‘You shouldn’t have done that,’ ” he said with all the signature energy that Brand’s become known for. “It’s a weird technique!” But the producers behind the Movie Awards tell a very different tale. When Jim Cantiello spoke with executive producer Jesse Ignjatovic, it became clear that Russell’s capacity to do hilariously bad things onstage is not just limitless, but endorsed by the folks behind the scenes. “No, that’s wrong,” Ignjatovic said when asked if Brand is going to get scolded if he pushes things too far. “There’s no yelling at Russell. It’s all love. The show ends, we go and we hug him, and we tell him it’s great. It’s all love.” Russell, we sure do hope you’re reading this — if you’re to take Mr. Ignjatovic’s words as gospel, then you just might be able to fulfill your greatest wishes come Sunday evening’s end. “MTV Movie Awards incorporates two of my favorite things: movies and awards,” Brand said when he was initially announced for the hosting gig. “If somehow group sex could be involved it would be the greatest night of my life.” So, yeah — we’re not trying to say you can turn this into the MTV Group Sex Awards you’ve dreamed of, Russell, but we might be trying to say that. Julianne Hough’s Daniel Radcliffe Love Note: ‘I Never Heard Back!’

As ‘Harry Potter’ casts its final spell at Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards, the ‘Sorcerer’s Stone’ extra recalls her childhood crush. By Amy Wilkinson Julianne Hough Photo: MTV News UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Here’s a, perhaps, little-known fact about “Rock of Ages” star Julianne Hough: Before she was tango-ing on “Dancing With the Stars” or kicking off her Sunday shoes in “Footloose,” the actress was a member of house Gryffindor at Hogwarts. That’s right — Hough, along with brother Derek — was an extra on “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” way back in 2001. So when we caught up with the 23-year-old and her “Rock of Ages” co-star Diego Boneta at the junket for their movie musical (out June 15), we had to ask what she thought the franchise’s chances were at its final MTV Movie Awards . The magical movie is up for seven nominations, including Movie of the Year, Best Male Performance (Daniel Radcliffe), Best Female Performance (Emma Watson), Best Cast, Best Fight (Daniel Radcliffe and Ralph Fiennes), Best Kiss (Rupert Grint and Emma Watson) and Best Hero (Daniel Radcliffe). But instead of weighing in on the flick’s odds, Hough had a special message for Radcliffe: “Well, I just want to say really quickly: Daniel, I gave you a love note during ‘The Sorcerer’s Stone,’ and I never heard back,” Hough said with a laugh, as co-star Boneta looked on dumbfounded. “I didn’t know that!” he exclaimed of her early film role. “I was in the first one, and you can see me twice,” Hough said. “I was Gryffindor.” If only Hough had been sorted into Ravenclaw like Cho Chang, perhaps, then, she could have captured Radcliffe’s heart. Channing Tatum, Matthew McConaughey Tease ‘Dirty’ Reunion

‘Magic Mike’ co-stars might be teaming up again, they reveal during Movie Awards Sneak Peek Week. By Amy Wilkinson, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey Photo: MTV News UNIVERSAL CITY, California — ” Magic Mike ” co-stars Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey have been seeing a lot of each other lately — and we’re not just talking about the thong-heavy wardrobe for their upcoming stripper flick, due June 29. As part of our Sneak Peek Week leading up to the 2012 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, June 3, the castmates, along with producer/screenwriter Reid Carolin, took to the Universal Studios CityWalk stage in L.A. to debut an exclusive clip from their film and participate in a 30-minute Q&A session. When MTV News’ Josh Horowitz pointed out that Tatum and McConaughey seem to have great chemistry, wondering aloud if they’d ever collaborate again, Tatum let a few juicy tidbits slip. “Actually, a script just got turned in,” he revealed. Asked whether the film would be a drama, comedy or something of the stripper variety, the actor’s answer was coy, yet titillating: “It’ll be dirty, let’s just say that. Dirty and dangerous.” With the pair portraying exotic dancers in their latest endeavor, it’s hard to imagine how much more dirty and/or dangerous things can get. We’ll have to wait and see! In the meantime, you can catch Tatum at this weekend’s Movie Awards, where he’s nominated for five Golden Popcorn trophies, including Best Male Performance (“The Vow”), Best Cast (“21 Jump Street”), Best Fight (“21 Jump Street”), Best Kiss (“The Vow”) and Best Hero (“21 Jump Street”). ‘Magic Mike’ Cast Had No Problem Getting Naked

‘It was hilarious that none of them really balked,’ Channing Tatum tells MTV News during Movie Awards Sneak Peek Week. By Amy Wilkinson, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey Photo: MTV News Struggling actors are no strangers to the odd job — be it waiting tables, walking dogs or washing cars. Few, however, would admit to taking their clothes off for cash, and even fewer would later document their sordid side gig in a feature film helmed by an Oscar-winning director. But few actors are Channing Tatum . As part of our Sneak Peek Week leading up to the 2012 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, Tatum, along with ” Magic Mike ” co-star Matthew McConaughey and producer/screenwriter Reid Carolin, took to the Universal CityWalk stage in L.A. to debut an exclusive clip and chat about their stripper flick, out June 29. And while Tatum doesn’t shy away from talking about his past, it took a little convincing from director Steven Soderbergh to convince the actor his story was big-screen-worthy. “I was having a beer with Soderbergh — we were doing a movie together — and I told him about [my past stripping]. I’d been doing it for eight months of my life when I was, like, 18 or 19, and he said, ‘We gotta make a movie out of that.’ And I was like, ‘Why? Why do we need to do that?’ And he said, ‘I’ve never seen that world on film before.’ And then we really started talking about that, and we thought it would be really hilarious but still grounded in reality.” So the two set out to bring “Magic Mike” to life — without studio funding. “We put money into it and did it ourselves,” Tatum explained. “I don’t know if people realize it, but it was an independent movie.” An independent movie, albeit with an impressive cast including Joe Manganiello, Matt Bomer and Matthew McConaughey, who said he simply couldn’t turn down an offer from Soderbergh to play groovy club owner Dallas. “He pitched me the story, and 10 minutes into it, I was on my knees in my house laughing,” McConaughey recalled. “And I said, ‘Tell me, any words of advice?’ And he said, ‘This guy, Dallas, he’s connected to the UFOs in space.’ And then I said, ‘Anything else?’ And he said, ‘You really can’t go wrong.’ And I said, ‘I’m in.’ ” And that’s when the real work began. Tatum took McConaughey to a male revue in New Orleans so he could get a glimpse into that world. “He loved it,” Tatum recalled with a grin. In fact, according to Tatum, none of the men seemed too worried about dropping trou. “The first day of rehearsals, I looked at the guys and we went through our stuff, and I was like, ‘All right. It’s time to get naked, boys.’ And it was hilarious that none of them really balked.” And neither did the female extras on set, who couldn’t seem to calm their excitement during McConaughey’s solo performance, in particular. “We could not get the women to sit down in the front row,” recalled Tatum with a laugh. “They just ran at the stage.” Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to vote for your favorite flicks now! How ‘Catching Fire’ Could Set Taylor Kitsch’s Career Ablaze

With ‘Battleship’ sinking at the box office, the role of Finnick Odair could serve as the actor’s life raft. By Amy Wilkinson Taylor Kitsch Photo: Getty Images Forget those Robert Pattinson rumors . I have a winning first-round draft pick for Adonis-like District 4 tribute Finnick Odair: former “Friday Night Lights” star Taylor Kitsch . To be sure, Kitsch’s name isn’t a new one in the frenzied speculation over who should play the ” Catching Fire ” hunk. For months, he’s been mentioned in the same breath as fan favorites like Armie Hammer and Garrett Hedlund, but with the less-than-stellar performance of “Battleship,” Kitsch needs one in the win column, and ” The Hunger Games ” sequel could be it. When the MTV Movies staff sat down at the end of the year to compile our 2012 wish list , my deepest desire was to see the erstwhile Tim Riggins make good on the big screen. He’s had a couple opportunities so far, starting with Disney’s sci-fi adventure “John Carter.” The adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ novel reportedly cost the studio $350 million to produce, but opened to a disappointing $30.6 million domestically . Likewise, last weekend’s board-game-inspired actioner fell $15 million short of box-office experts’ modest $40 million projections. Kitsch has one more 2012 film yet to bow — the Oliver Stone-directed “Savages” — but he needs a high-profile role in a box-office barnburner to really introduce him to the masses and secure a spot as a go-to leading man. Hence, Finnick Odair. I’ll be the first to admit Kitsch doesn’t perfectly fit my mental image of the trident-wielding tribute; he isn’t blond, nor is he very tall (though have you seen him without a shirt on?). Abs aside, what matters more is that he’s able to effectively capture the essence of this surprisingly multifaceted character. Which, if you watched the dearly departed “Friday Night Lights,” you know Kitsch can do. After all, Finnick is really just the Tim Riggins of Panem. He’s clearly damaged yet still has the capacity to nurture and love — in other words, just two bad boys with big hearts. After the first film’s boffo box office (returns are currently around the $400 million mark), the sequel’s success is basically a foregone conclusion. So, Taylor, as you ponder your next career step, why not take a look at the “Catching Fire” script (if you haven’t already) and see if you’re up for the arena? This could be the blazing hot role you’ve been looking for. Do you think Taylor Kitsch would make a good Finnick? Sound off in the comments below and tweet me @amymwilk with your thoughts and suggestions for future columns! Earlier “Hunger Games” columns:
