Doc Watson, Veteran Folk Singer, Dead at 89

Following a hospitalization for abdominal surgery in North Carolina, Grammy-winning folk singer Doc Watson passed away yesterday, the Associated Press confirms. He was 89. The singer/songwriter actually lost his eyesight as a child, but that didn’t stop him from going on to record such hits as “Tom Dooley” and “Shady Grove.” Doc Watson in Concert Watson toured for decades, beginning in the 1960s and faced tragedy in 1985 when he son Eddy was killed in a tractor accident. He is now survived by daughter Nancy. The popular artist won seven Grammys, as well as a lifetime achievement award in 2004. In 1997, he was given the National Medal of Arts from President Bill Clinton.

Prince William "Keen" to Start Family With Kate Middleton

In a rare interview, Prince William gave ABC News the clearest sign yet that he and his wife Kate Middleton are planning to try for a baby soon. In an interview to mark his grandmother’s diamond jubilee – 60 years on the throne – the future king said starting a family is a top priority. Discussing his military plans, Prince William, who will himself turn 30 next month ( Kate Middleton turned 30 this winter), told Katie Couric: “More importantly, I’d rather like to have children. That’s the key thing really.” Katie Couric Interview With Prince William “But I’m just very keen to have a family and both Catherine and I, you know, are very much looking forward to having a family in the future.” When asked whether there was anything he would like to announce, the prince said coyly: “You won’t get anything out of me. Tight lipped.” Fortunately, Couric didn’t overtly ask about the recent pregnancy rumors . William and brother his Prince Harry opened up during an interview at Clarence House in London for The Jubilee Queen , ABC’s special series on her. LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian Renew Wedding Vows

Move over, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon . LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian marked a year of wedded bliss by renewing their vows this week as well. LeAnn and Eddie got married April 22 of last year. Friday, they took a romantic trip to Calabasas, Calif., where they decided to exchange I-dos once more. “We renewed our vows today….it’s incredible to thank each other for the past year as husband and wife,” Rimes tweeted. “Here’s to another great year!” LeAnn and Eddie, who were married to Dean Sheremet and Brandi Glanvllle , respectively, when they first got together, have come a long way since then. Weathering a storm of criticism, they’ve settled into their new life nicely. The pair spent time relaxing near the ocean, with Rimes tweeting, “CHILLING….listening to Radiohead and enjoying the view… man and beach :).” Saturday, the Twitter-loving country singer said, “Eddie and I went climbing on the rocks in the ocean yesterday to see the thousands of crabs. I did not realize til now just how dab I kicked a rock with two of my toes…OUCH.” Ouch indeed … but at least true love heals all woulds, or something. Congrats on one year, LeAnn and Eddie, and best of luck in year #2!

It’s hard to believe that a whole year has passed since Prince William and Kate Middleton became Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at London’s Westminster Abbey. The royal wedding was a spectacle unlike any other, and not simply because William is royalty: It’s a celebrity news story that isn’t the slightest bit negative! Nary a harsh word is ever said about the couple, who the whole world is rooting for to succeed (while speculating over Kate’s future pregnancy) 24/7/365. Royal Wedding Kiss and Highlights A year after they declared their love for each other in front of an estimated two billion (!) viewers, they’re keeping their first wedding anniversary private. After Drake dumped his management team, it is now reported that he’s trying to leave Lil Wayne’s Young Money to join Jay-Z’s Roc Nation. If the rumors are true, it’s goin’ down! Drake was repped by Hip Hop Since 1976, the same team that manages Lil Wayne. Drizzy also detached himself from J Prince, the Houston executive who helped him link up with YMCMB, and parted ways with his agent ICM to join the William Morris Agency. This rumor sounds crazy since Drake has done so well with Young Money.
