Adam Lambert Takes to Tonight Show Stage

In his music video for “If I Had You,” Adam Lambert combines the worlds of Willy Wonka with Thriller and Interview with the Vampire . Sounds about right for the flamboyant artist, doesn’t it? But Lambert toned his look down a bit for a performance on The Tonight Show Friday evening, merely donning a pair of zebra-inspired pants for a rendition of this same single. Judge them for yourself now: Over the past couple weeks, Lambert has appeared at charity event that raised money to fight AIDS; taken part in a concert sponsored by KISS-FM in Los Angeles; been interviewed by Ellen DeGeneres; and come down with a slight case of Bieber Fever . We hope he’s feeling better because there’s a tour of North America to go this summer! Below, enjoy his Tonight Show performance of “If I Had You.” The Tonight Show Performance

Venus Williams French Open Outfit: Love It or Loathe It?

Venus Williams coasted to a 6-3, 6-3 victory against Patty Schnyder in the first round of the French Open this weekend. But the tennis great’s powerful serve and winning forehand aren’t what has the online community buzzing this morning. Instead, all talk centers around the black and red, tutu-like dress this legend wore on the court, which covered flesh-toned underwear often spotted by anyone paying close attention when Venus went for an overhead smash. It was really more of a corset than typical tennis attire: The part-time designer said the look is “about illusion, which represents “a lot of my motif this year.” We say this outfit could very well start flying off the shelves of our THG Style Store : readers will either want to burn it or wear it. Where do you stand? Venus Williams’ French Open fashion statement is… From the front, to the side, to the revealing back: Judge this attire for yourself.

Venus Williams goes commando

Venus Williams won her French Open first-round match today, but the spotlight was on what she was wearing—and not wearing. The No. 2 seed sported a lacy black concoction with underpinnings similar to the ones that caused a stir at the Australian Open by creating the illusion that she was going commando. The get-up is “about illusion,” Williams told the AP. http://www.newser.com/story/89787/venus-williams-turns-heads-in-win.html added by: unimatrix0

Lil Wayne Is ‘Probably Dying To Spit,’ Jay Sean Says

‘He’s gonna come out and do 100 albums,’ Jay tells MTV News of imprisoned Cash Money superstar. By Shaheem Reid, with reporting by Tim Kash Jay Sean Photo: Nuzhat Naoreen/ MTV News Cash Money hero Jay Sean said the label’s cornerstone act is doing as well as can be expected in prison. Sean said several members of Cash Money — including the CEOs, Ronald “Slim” Williams and his brother Bryan “Baby” Williams — visit Lil Wayne frequently. “They go and see him once a week,” Jay said recently in New York. “Either Baby will go in one week and Slim will go the other week. His boys will go and see him. [Wayne is] good. He’s doing well.” Besides seeing his family, Jay said Weezy is longing to get back in the studio. “I think the hardest thing for Wayne right now is not being in the studio,” he said. “That’s it. That’s probably the only thing; he’s probably dying to spit. Think about it. The guy was making a new song every day, every hour. He’s gonna come out and do 100 albums. “I’m sure it’s all up in here,” Jay added, alluding to the fact that Wayne doesn’t write his lyrics down. When Sean asks Slim and Baby about Wayne, “It’s the same thing,” he said. ” ‘How’s he doing? Is he cool?’ Hopefully he’s not getting into any trouble. They say he’s getting better and better. He’s more positive. He can’t wait to come out.” Besides the Cash Money Millionaires, Wayne also had a high-profile visit in prison from Diddy . Paramore Working On New Songs — Two Seconds At A Time

Band says ideas for new songs are often born on tour, but usually write at home. By James Montgomery Paramore’s Hayley Williams Photo: MTV News It seems odd to talk about “new” Paramore songs, given that their Brand New Eyes album is just seven months old, but the fact remains that there actually are some new tracks in the works … albeit ones that are progressing very slowly. “[Frontwoman Hayley Williams] normally needs to rest her voice during show days, so she’ll come to soundcheck sometimes and just listen to her in-ear monitors,” drummer Zac Farro told MTV News on Saturday at the Bamboozle festival in New Jersey. “The other day, we were just messing around — we have a couple of songs we just play for fun. They’re never anything we’ll probably use, but we’ve been playing them for a while. [They’re] just random, two-second things.” So while it sounds like those “two-second” things might not amount to much, Farro quickly added, “Actually, ‘Decode’ and ‘I Caught Myself’ [ Paramore’s two songs on the “Twilight” soundtrack ] were kind of written that way, so you never really know.” Williams agreed, though she made it clear that the band is still very much focused on playing songs from Brand New Eyes, and said that the majority of writing for the follow-up — whenever it may happen — will take place at home in Franklin, Tennessee. “We like coming up with new things, but, like Zac says, it’s usually at home, at practice,” Williams said. “We usually write intros and outros for shows, and that’s a good outlet for us, and a way to keep our creative brains rolling and keep our chops up. But, like he said, it’s like two seconds and then we’re done.” And Paramore will have even more time to work on those two-second outbursts (maybe even extending them to four or five seconds,) when they hit the road on the Honda Civic Tour with Tegan and Sara and New Found Glory. The trek kicks off July 23 and already, Williams and company are getting pumped — even if it means they’re not going to be home any time soon. “We all like a bit of everything, musically, and you can usually tell that in our [concert] bills,” Williams said. “I think Honda Civic Tour is the most diverse lineup we’ve ever had. And I’m really psyched about it. I saw Tegan and Sara in Nashville, and they were great. It’s going to be a lot of fun!” Related Artists Paramore

Hayley Williams ‘Stoked’ To Shoot B.o.B’s ‘Airplanes’ Video

‘I think it’ll be a lot easier than a Paramore shoot but different and challenging in a new way,’ she tells MTV News. By James Montgomery Paramore’s Hayley Williams Photo: MTV News EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey — B.o.B ‘s “Nothin’ on You” currently sits atop the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, and “Airplanes” — the second single from his The Adventures of Bobby Ray album — has just leapt into the top 10. The Atlanta MC, who already has a video for “Nothin’,” just shot a clip for his sophomore single, albeit one that’s missing a key component: Paramore ‘s Hayley Williams, who sings the track’s hook. But all that is going to change — and soon. When we spoke to Williams at this weekend’s Bamboozle music festival, the singer said she had already carved out time to shoot her portion of the “Airplanes” video, even if she didn’t quite know what she had signed up for. “Hopefully, right after this tour [ Paramore’s spring run with Relient-K and Fun], I’ll get to do my part of the B.o.B video,” she said. “I’m stoked, because I’ve seen a couple of treatments, and I don’t know exactly what I’m getting into yet, but I’m stoked about it, because I know it’ll be different, and I think it’ll be a lot easier than a Paramore shoot but different and challenging in a new way. It’ll definitely be shorter than a Paramore video; no 12-hour day on a chorus.” So what will Williams — who, to be honest, isn’t the first person you’d think would be popping up in a hip-hop video — be doing in “Airplanes”? Good question. Paramore bassist Jeremy Davis joked that “she’s gonna be on a boat with a swimsuit and a martini.” But Williams said she’ll be taking inspiration from some of the classics. Sort of. “Growing up, I saw a lot of hip-hop videos. I always liked TLC, and I always liked Aaliyah videos, I thought they were great. Missy Elliott videos were amazing. But obviously, I’m not going to get in front of a camera and pretend to be Aaliyah or Missy Elliott. I mean, I’m still Hayley from Paramore,” she laughed. “And that’s what I think is great about it; I’m bringing a different side to what B.o.B is doing … and I think what we do as a band actually fits in some weird way. I was looking at videos of him online, at his shows, and his crowd doesn’t look too far off from, like, the kind of people we play to; same age. It seems like a good match, and I’m excited to bring whatever I have to offer to the table for him.” And since she’ll be filming her portion of the video without B.o.B, it will keep one aspect of their collaboration intact: the fact that they’ve never actually met face-to-face. “We’ve never met in person,” Williams said. “We’ve talked on Twitter, and he’s really cool. We’ll never meet. We’re going to perform the song live via Skype.” What classic hip-hop videos would you like to see Hayley inspired by? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Paramore B.o.B

Asher Roth Talks Working With ‘Genius’ Pharrell On Next Album

Plus: Game asks for DJ Skee’s assitance on The Red Room, in Mixtape Daily. By Shaheem Reid, with additional reporting by Matt Elias Asher Roth Photo: SRC/Universal Celebrity Favorites There’s a method to Asher Roth’s madness. He rapped over beats from the likes of the RZA, Q-Tip and J. Dilla on his mixtape Seared Foie Gras With Quince and Cranberry because you might hear him flow over original tracks by those super producers on his next album. One dude who is definitely working on Roth’s upcoming LP is Pharrell Williams — and Skateboard P might even serve as executive producer on the project. “We linked up in Miami,” Roth said of the Williams sessions. “Very good chemistry as far as creating music. We was down there while it was all snowy in New York. We had a blast. I think we have some really beautiful music for warm weather. “He really is a genius,” Roth gushed. “Working with him, it’s really fast. We wound up doing 12 records in 12 days, which is really good numbers. It’s quick. He gets an idea and he harnesses that idea really quick. It’s cool when someone like me gets to step into the studio with him. I feel it’s probably different vibes. … I feel like it’s different vibes. Even though he works with everyone from Britney to the Clipse, he can do that because he stays in his lane. He stays true to himself. He’s got a very real sound he’s harnessed with the Neptunes stuff; he’s got a real sound he’s harnessed with N.E.R.D. We wrote 12 different records. We didn’t try to write one record 12 times — we have stuff all over the map, from live drums that are going to incorporate itself well into a live show … I’m excited for you guys to hear that stuff.” The Streets Is Talking: News and Notes From the Underground Game’s new mixtape The Red Room is set to drop very soon, but there has been a slight change in the lineup — instead of making the mixtape a Gangsta Grillz and putting it out with DJ Drama, Game said he secured the services of DJ Skee. “I immediately called Skee, but he was in Toronto,” Game said about reaching out to Skee once he and Drama amicably agreed to part ways on the project. “He got back, came in and then the tape took a turn left, man. But it’s all good, man, ’cause me and Skee got history. Skee’s at home right now just going in working on it to get it out to the people ASAP. So there ain’t no love lost to Drama, I talk to him. He asked me if there wasn’t gonna be anymore G-Unit disses on the tape and I was like, ‘Not really,’ but I reserve the right to do whatever I want. So it’s probably best that I use Skee.” For other artists featured in Mixtape Daily, check out Mixtape Daily Headlines .

B.o.B Has ‘Always’ Been A Fan Of Paramore’s Hayley Williams

‘People who go to my shows are the same people that go to Paramore shows,’ he says of ‘Airplanes’ collaborator. By Steven Roberts Hayley Williams Photo: Christopher Polk/ Getty Images Last week, B.o.B released the single “Airplanes,” featuring Paramore leading lady Hayley Williams. The Atlanta rapper followed that up with “Airplanes (Part II),” this time with Eminem joining Williams in the guest spot . Both tracks are from the MC’s debut album, B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray, due April 27. When MTV News caught up with Williams recently, the Paramore singer sounded psyched to jump on the record . “I was given the track awhile ago while we were on tour,” she told MTV News. “The guys and I all loved it. They told me I was crazy if I passed it up. I liked the part too much anyways. So, of course, I was down.” Williams also revealed that she was a big fan of B.o.B, whom she called a “genius.” B.o.B was just as excited about the collaboration when MTV News met up with him before his packed show at SOB’s last week. “First off, Paramore is the sh–,” B.o.B said. “I’ve always been a Hayley fan, and to work with her, that’s another thing I didn’t think would happen to me as soon as it did.” Although the duo didn’t get in the studio together, B.o.B said he and the Paramore vocalist talked, and she really liked the song’s vibe. While the pairing might seem like an odd one, especially considering Williams has never done any rap features, B.o.B said he’d observed that his fans’ musical tastes are as eclectic as his are. “That’s something that I notice,” he said. “Like, if I do my shows and I go out to the crowd and talk to people, I’ll ask them what type of music they listen to. Everybody listens to everything. People who go to my shows are the same people that go to Paramore shows, are the same people that go to a Lupe [Fiasco] show or a Common show, because it’s all about the music, and it’s all about the energy put behind it.” B.o.B said he was fortunate not only to get to work with Williams, but also many of the artists on his album. More than securing a simple “yes,” schedules were often a key factor. “The timing of everything is real divine. It almost seems like it’s supposed to happen,” he said. “It’s kind of freaky sometimes how my first album — I have so many people on it. And these are people that inspire me tremendously, and just to have them on the album is amazing.” Were you surprised to hear Hayley on a B.o.B track? Who else would you like to hear the MC with?
