It’s been announced that Jay has teamed up with Overbrook Entertainment, a film production company whose partners include Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith, James Lassiter and Ken Stovitz. One of the first projects on the Jay-Z/Overbook agenda will, in fact, be remaking “Annie.” After rumors hit the Net about the possibility of the update, Variety confirmed Wednesday (January 26) that Sony will bring the reimagining of the musical about a spirited orphan to the big screen. Will and Jada plan to make a family affair out of this latest endeavor as their daughter, 10-year-old Willow Smith (who scored a massive hit this year with the infectious “Whip My Hair”), will play the coveted lead role. In a statement, Jay-Z said of the group’s latest venture, “The Overbrook Entertainment family and I have a unified vision,” adding, “We’re developing a true superstar in Willow.” Willow’s rising star (the pint-size singer recently tweeted, “Are you excited for my album?! It’s coming soon……..VERY soon!!”) prompted Columbia Pictures President Doug Belgrad to state, “The time is right to bring back ‘Annie’ to the big screen. We’re true believers in Willow’s talent and believe she will be perfect in this role.” Of course, this isn’t the first time Jay, Lassiter and the Smiths have teamed up, as the power foursome worked as co-producers on the Tony-nominated Broadway show “Fela!” Nor is it the first time Overbrook (which has pulled in a staggering $2.5 billion in revenue) will make a film featuring one of the Smiths’ children. In the clip, the pint-size pop star was seen in braids and wearing various multi-colored outfits that included neon colors and leopard print. “Hi, guys! I am on my video set and I just wanted to give you guys a sneak peek of the new sound of my song ’21st Century Girl,’ ” she said in a video posted on Facebook . In the video, Willow rocks bright green eye shadow, and in the background, several of her over-the-top looks can be seen hanging on racks. “So, hope you like it,” she said. “21st-century girl/ I do what I like/ 21st-century girl/ I’m taking you for a ride,” Willow sings. The song, much like her first single, “Whip My Hair,” is a club-banging anthem. “21st-century girl/ Gonna live it up/ Just live it up,” she goes on to sing over the heavily produced beat. Willow first got everyone’s attention last fall when she burst on the scene with her debut single. And she’s already got some big projects in the works. She’s set to perform at the Grammy Awards on February 13, and she is also going to hit the road with Justin Bieber when he tours Europe starting in March. Vanessa Price- the hairstylist that created his signature shaggy look- claims she makes housecalls to give the Biebs touch ups. Price says , “I usually cut his hair every couple of weeks when he’s on tour.” Now, I’m not mathematician, but that’s over $1,500k a month- ON HIS HAIR. Justin Bieber hospital allergic reaction Baby Biebs was sent to the hospital after enduring an allergic reaction. So what the eff happened? Geez, so many questions rush through my mind! For pete’s sake, did he use a new hair gel? Did he forget to put on diaper cream? Was he constipated? We’ve got the deets on what happened below! It was during filming scenes for his guest appearance for CSI that Baby Biebs had some trouble breathing! It was shortly after that the mop-topped star was sent to Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center to be evaluated. For all you Bieber fanatics, you will be happy to know that he is okay. Bieber’s rep told E! Online that “He is fine. He had a mild allergic reaction while they were wrapping up last night on the set of CSI. His doctor met him at the hospital to make sure everything was okay. He was released within the hour after his doctor declared him fine. He is back on set working today. All is well.” Phew.
