Charlie Wilson, an ex-Congressman from Ohio, has passed away. He was 70 years old. The Democrat suffered a stroke in February and was admitted to a hospital in Boynton Beach Saturday after falling ill. He died the next day around 2:30 p.m., surrounded by family members. Wilson won a write-in campaign and served two terms in Washington, securing federal funding for projects that benefited the police department, airports and small businesses. Prior to being elected to Congress, Wilson served in the Ohio House of Representatives from 1997 to 2005. “I served with Charlie in the State Legislature for six years and he was a loyal friend in good times and bad,” Ohio Democratic Chairman Chris Redfern said in a statement. “An outspoken advocate for working people, Charlie never wavered in his service to his constituents or his lifelong pursuit to help improve the lives of others.” Wilson is survived by four sons, one of whom served as his campaign manager in the 2006 race and then on succeeded him in the Ohio Senate.

North Carolina representatives have introduced a bill that would “clarify” a state law to ban nipple slips and otherwise prohibit the baring of breasts. Women worried about showing too much of their “private area” should use pasties or even duct tape from now on… or they could be breaking the law. Basically, do not emulate any Kate Upton photos like this one. The proposed legislation, House Bill 34, would make it a Class H felony to expose “external organs of sex and of excretion, including the nipple.” The law also extends to “any portion of the areola.” Good to know. Depending on the intent, women could face up to six months in prison for an errant areola, with “more mundane” exposure resulting in a 30-day sentence. There is an exemption for breastfeeding. Rep. Rayne Brown (R), who co-sponsored the bill , tells WRAL in Raleigh that while it may seem frivolous or even funny, it can also be a serious issue. “There are communities across this state, local governments across this state, and local law enforcement for whom this issue is really not a laughing matter.” Brown said that she was prompted, in part, by Asheville’s second annual topless protest and women’s rally this past August. What went down there? According to the Asheville Citizen-Times , the event last year drew around a dozen women, who took off their shirts to “promote women’s equality.” WRAL writes that Rep. Sarah Stevens (R), who chairs the North Carolina House Judiciary Subcommittee C, downplayed the impact the bill might have. Opponents, such as Rep. Annie Mobley (D) worried that the law was sexist and that it might penalize women for wearing “questionable fashions.”
Just days after undergoing surgery on torn ligaments suffered in a massive crash, Lindsey Vonn shared a photo online showing her mangled, swollen knee. That does not look like it feels good. Lindsey Vonn took a dramatic spill while competing in the Alpine Ski World Championships on the slopes in Austria and had to be airlifted to a hospital. The fall left the Olympic champion and girlfriend of Tiger Woods with two torn ACL and MCL ligaments and a broken bone … absolutely brutal. On Sunday, Vonn had undergone an operation, which she proclaimed a success on Facebook; she’s home in Vail, Colorado, beginning her recovery. The Lindsey Vonn leg photo, posted Friday, depicts her disfigured, yellowish right leg covered in purple bruises and bandages after the surgery. Her left leg, which was not seriously injured, also looks banged up. Lindsey Vonn ‘s caption: “My knee looks… um… not very good…” Proving that she has not lost her sense of humor along with her ligaments, Vonn added a pair of hashtags, #longskirtsthissummer and #ugh. She also hasn’t lost her work ethic. The 28-year-old later put up another, less graphic image, promoting her sponsor, energy drink Red Bull. The photo shows the athlete doing rehabilitation exercises next to bottles of Red Bull with the caption: “Not letting obstacles stand in your way.”
Mindy McCready shot and killed her dog as well as herself, officials investigating the star’s tragic (but not entirely shocking) suicide in Arkansas said. For McCready, the downward spiral she was on had reached a point where killing a dog, or even herself, marked the end of a long and troubled road. The singer’s final weeks were a haze of addiction, depression and despair, according to new reports following her the country star’s death Sunday. Police found Mindy McCready dead (with her dog) on her home’s porch, in the exact spot where her 34-year-old boyfriend was found dead January 13. David Wilson’s death, also from a gunshot would to the head, is still being investigated by local authorities; McCready claimed she had no part in it. They have a 10-month-old son, Zane. Strangely, the dog was involved, indirectly, in Wilson’s death as well. McCready said the bullet that ended Wilson’s life was found “in the dog’s mouth.” “I didn’t find [the bullet], the dog did, I mean, that’s a horrific thing to say, but it was in the dog’s mouth,” she said in an interview with NBC’s Today . “I just keep telling myself that the more suffering that I go through, the greater character I’ll have,” she told the show following Wilson’s death. “He didn’t just touch my heart. He touched my soul … he was my soulmate.” Apparently whatever happened impacted the already troubled star greatly. In the 36 days between Wilson’s death and hers, the despondent singer was ordered into a treatment facility for mental health and alcohol abuse issues. Her father Tim gave a statement to the court detailing his daughter’s substance abuse struggled in an effort to have her children removed from her care. McCready has a six-year-old son as well, with Billy McKnight , who said this morning that his ex’s death, while tragic, did not really come as a shock. Tim told the court Mindy had stayed in bed for three weeks after Wilson’s death, sleeping all day and mixing alcohol and prescription pills in the evening. He added she was “not bathing or even helping take care of her 2 children.” McCready entered the treatment facility for mental health and alcohol abuse issues February 6, then left on February 8 for an outpatient treatment center. McCready’s pal Shane Tallant told CBS the singer’s suicide was the end she chose for herself, and likely stemmed from her issues with Wilson. Her death “obviously speaks on the pain that she was feeling, that, for whatever reason, she chose to go to the same location and do the same thing he did.” Her alleged former lover Roger Clemens also issued a statement today, calling the event “sad” and offering kind words for the singer, who was 37.
Mindy McCready has been through a lot, and is certainly no saint (drug addiction, jail time, domestic altercations, etc), but she wants to clear one thing up: She did not kill David Wilson . In an interview with NBC’s Dateline (a portion of which aired on Today), she says of losing her boyfriend, “I’ve never gone through anything this painful .” “Nor will I ever again go through anything as painful.” Calling Wilson, who took his own life via self-inflicted gunshot wound, her “soul mate,” she added, “He didn’t just touch my heart, he touched my soul.” Wilson, 34, was the father of McCready’s 9-month-old son, Zayne. She also has a 6-year-old son, Zander, from her relationship with Billy McKnight. According to news reports, David Wilson died at his home in Heber Springs, Ark., of suicide. The investigation into his death remains open, however. Asked whether she had any role in the record producer’s demise, Mindy said, “Oh my God, no. Oh my God, no. He was my life. We were each other’s life.” She also slammed rumors that Wilson was cheating on her, saying, “David was not having an affair with another woman. That is absolutely totally untrue.” However, when questioned about whether she believed “100 percent” that David Wilson had committed suicide, McCready was quiet for a moment. “I don’t know,” the troubled singer admitted. All we can do is stay tuned on this one.
This case is so sad. Prosecutors are now adding kidnapping and murder charges against Brenda Stokes Wilson, the woman last seen with Jade Morris . Via NYDailyNews reports : Blood was found inside a car borrowed by a Las Vegas Strip card dealer last seen with a missing 10-year-old girl and later arrested in the razor blade slashing of a co-worker at the posh Bellagio resort, a prosecutor said Friday. Brenda Stokes Wilson was identified in court Friday as the prime suspect in the slaying. “It’s no secret the defendant is the suspect in the murder of 10-year-old Jade Morris,” prosecutor Robert Daskas said as he convinced Senior Clark County District Court Judge Joseph Bonaventure to increase Wilson’s bail from $60,000 to $600,000 pending the filing of kidnapping and murder charges. Later Friday, Clark County coroner’s officials identified the body found Thursday as that of the girl, Jade Morris. Officials say she died of multiple stab wounds. The girl was last seen Dec. 21 with Wilson, who’d picked her up to go Christmas shopping. Family members say Jade had a close relationship with Wilson, who used to date her father. Wilson, 50, was arrested later that night after she was wrestled to the ground with razors in each hand following a face-slashing attack on a female co-worker, Joyce Rhone, at the Bellagio. She appeared in court in that case Friday, when a judge raised her bail to $600,000. Wilson has been jailed on felony battery with a weapon, burglary and mayhem charges that could get her decades in prison. Police said she has offered no help in the search for the missing girl. Murder and kidnapping charges could get her life in prison without parole or the death penalty. SMH what the hell could make you do such a thing to a child who trusted you? Clearly this woman snapped… But now she’s probably going to find out what it feels like to be on the other side of a shank once her fellow inmates get wind of who she is and what she’s done.

Despite her initial claims, McDonald’s worker Mirlande Wilson didn’t actually win the Mega Millions lottery. She just made that story up … for reasons unknown. The Maryland woman claimed she won the lottery but couldn’t find the ticket, perhaps in hopes that someone would just take her word and cut her a check. Alas, three winners – all female teachers from Maryland who wish to remain anonymous – have come forward to claim the record $218 million winnings. This was a disappointment to Wilson, but she’s hanging in there. “I’m doing OK,” she said about finding out that her “missing ticket” ultimately didn’t have the winning numbers. “That’s alright that I didn’t win this time.” The winners, who call themselves “the three amigos,” were “privately laughing” about Wilson, who publicly proclaimed herself the winner before they did. When asked why she claimed to have the winning ticket, Wilson said, “I don’t even know what happened, but everybody doesn’t know what really happened.” Okay then. “If the money is for getting then I’m going to get it,” she added, while her sister added that she will “no doubt” keep playing Mega Millions. “If she has $20 and spends $19, she’ll take the last $1 and buy a ticket,” she said. So she spends five percent of her income, after taxes, on lotto tickets. Smart.
