Giuliana and Bill Rancic Speak on Surrogate

Giuliana and Bill Rancic , who have opened up about their struggle to have a child in the last few years, announced Monday that they’re finally expecting a baby. They’ve bonded with the woman who is making it happen, too. “She is giving us the greatest gift we’re ever getting in our lives,” Giuliana, 37, says of the couple’s surrogate, whose identity has not been revealed. “She’s selflessly helping make our dream a reality. We adore her.” The gestational surrogate is carrying their child, but it will be their biological offspring. Giuliana’s struggles to achieve a viable pregnancy are well documented. Asked if they plan to stay in touch with the woman once their child is born, Bill says, “That will be up to her, but we are very grateful for what she’s done .” “We intend to maintain a relationship with her.” The couple admit they were quite nervous about picking a surrogate before they met the woman they chose, but they clicked with her immediately. “Once we met her it was an instinct,” says Giuliana. “We could tell she was a great person.” Bill adds that the Rancics attend her doctor’s appointments: “It’s important to us to see the development and growth. At the end of the day, it’s our baby. Genetically it’s ours. It’s our embryo. We feel very connected.” For now the parents-to-be are relishing keeping the baby’s gender a secret – but they know, and may not be able to keep it for the duration of the pregnancy. “When you do a reality show and host shows, it’s hard to have secrets. Its nice to have something that only the two of us know for now,” says Giuliana. However, “Eventually we may tell people.”

‘American Idol’: Who Will Be Crowned On Queen Night?

Where’s Colton Dixon when you need him? We share song suggestions for the top six. By Gil Kaufman and James Montgomery “American Idol” top six Photo: FOX Every year, there’s one “American Idol” theme week that proves to be the equalizer. Sometimes it’s disco night, or performance episodes dedicated to Frank Sinatra, Gloria Estefan, big band or Bon Jovi. Wednesday night’s (April 25) Queen motif could be the one that trips up some of this year’s most promising contenders. What a time to be missing the show’s resident glamo (that’s glam and emo smushed together) rocker, Colton Dixon ! Though both of us are huge fans of the pioneering British stadium rockers, is there any band whose music feels less relevant at this cultural moment? In other words, six seasons after Simon and the gang first took us on a trip down “Fat Bottom Girls” lane, it’s the obvious choice for “Idol” as the show steams — or limps — toward next month’s finale. All snark aside, Wednesday night could belong to Elise Testone, since she’s the only one left who understands the intricate velvety folds of late singer Freddie Mercury’s bombastic voice. Also, if it was up to us, someone would have to do a song from the hugely underrated 1981 soundtrack to “Flash Gordon” (AAAH-AAAH!) but that’s for another time. Of course, as is seemingly required by law, there’s also going to be a second hour of “Idol,” in which the top six will sing a song of their choice (like, it could be anything), so in anticipation of some “Killer Queen” and whatever comes after, MTV News’ resident “Idol” know-it-alls, Gil Kaufman and James Montgomery, are back with their carefully considered song suggestions for the remaining “Idol” hopefuls: Hollie Cavanagh Let’s get it right out of the way: Bottom-three squatter Hollie continues to live on borrowed time. Queen’s music is all about emotion and showy delivery, and the British cowgirl has proven time and again that those qualities are a taller order than, well, her. That said, she could soar with one of the band’s many rich ballads, such as “You’re My Best Friend” or “Somebody to Love.” For her song choice: Mariah Carey ‘s “Hero,” just because. — Kaufman It would be fitting if she did “Another One Bites the Dust,” since she’s probably toast this week. Instead, she’ll do one of Queen’s excellent power ballads, like “Spread Your Wings” or “Save Me” (even though America won’t). As for her other song? I don’t even know where to begin. When she auditioned in season 10, she did a couple of Miley Cyrus tunes, so I’ll just say she does “The Climb” again. Hollie really inspires enthusiasm, if you couldn’t tell. — Montgomery Joshua Ledet Josh has pretty much been able to sing anything thrown his way so far, but Queen could be a serious roadblock. Though their songs have plenty of flavor, it’s not necessarily the gospel-y kind he favors. He should probably take the safe route and put some of his soul on a big ballad like “I Want to Break Free.” If the Queen thing falls flat, he can redeem himself with something young, sexy and firmly in his lane like Chris Brown’s “Beautiful People.” — Kaufman He’s got the pipes — and the burgeoning ego — to take on the entirety of “Bohemian Rhapsody,” but he’d be better served channeling all those vocal histrionics (and craziness) into three-and-a-half minutes of “Don’t Stop Me Now.” And then we could call him Mr. Fahrenheit instead of Mantasia. For his second song, dude, I don’t know. He should just do a Fantasia song again. Any of them. — Montgomery Jessica Sanchez It’s been an up-and-down ride for the once-infallible Sanchez, but she should cruise this week, and I’m going to suggest she go rogue and sing the 1981 David Bowie/Queen collabo “Under Pressure,” which has a dynamic range that could let her show off those pipes. And she has to do Beyonc

Is A ‘Game of Thrones’ Romance In The Air?

‘I’d hope for them to live happily ever after, but it’s ‘Game of Thrones,’ right?’ Richard Madden says of Robb Stark’s romantic interest, Talisa. By Kara Warner Richard Madden in “Game of Thrones” Photo: HBO Another week, another gripping, wholly enjoyable episode of HBO’s hit “Game of Thrones.” Forgetting for a moment the frustrating continued existence of one Joffrey Baratheon and all the rather gruesome scenes in Sunday’s episode entitled “Garden of Bones,” let’s take a moment to appreciate one easy-to-watch scene: the meet-cute between would-be King Robb Stark and feisty nurse Talisa (Oona Chaplin). In the midst of all the blood, battles and complicated politics, might there be room for a real romance between two characters? MTV News was lucky enough to sit down with Robb Stark himself, Richard Madden, to get the scoop on this intriguing new story line. “Robb’s in a place where it’s the first time he’s met a woman, it’s the first time he’s had his head turned. It’s the first time he’s been in this position as this boy-King and the first time someone doesn’t bow down to him, doesn’t treat him like a King, doesn’t cater to all that,” Madden explained of his character’s interest in Talisa. “She asks him real questions, she challenges everything and makes him ask questions of himself, he’s kind of blown away by that, this kind of light in the darkness. He’s surrounded by all these men and by all this violence and hate and blood, and he’s got this woman there who kind of looks him in the eye and talks to him in a way he’s not used to and he can’t help but be intrigued by that. I think in the beginning he doesn’t even know his head’s been turned until we’re right into it.” So now we know there will at least be major head-turning, but no telling how long that will last in the twisted and dangerous world of “Thrones.” When asked for his thoughts on Robb and Talisa’s future as a couple, the Scot wasn’t at liberty to divulge gritty details, but did mention a hope for happily ever after, however unlikely that may be. “I’d hope for them to live happily ever after, but it’s ‘Game of Thrones,’ right? That doesn’t really happen often with anyone,” Madden said with a smile. “We’re going to see a lot of changes with Robb’s character this year and this woman is the first big influence that takes him away from following his head, usually his heart and his head are on the same page when it comes to decision-making and this woman takes him in a different direction and influences over the decisions that he makes and sets things on a different course with his mother as well that’s a huge kind of fracture between them,” he continued. “So I’m keen to see how that plays out on screen.” Do you think “Game of Thrones” is going to get romantic? True Or False: Did Kerry Washington Get Banned From The White House By Michelle Obama For Flirting With The Prez?

Michelle Obama Concerned About Kerry Washington’s Interest In Barack Poor lil bangin’ Kerry Washington is now an enemy of the state — at least where the First Lady is concerned. Rumor has it that Chelly O ain’t feelin’ ol girl sniffin’ around her hubby and we can kinda see where she’s coming from! MICHELLE OBAMA has barred “Scandal” star Kerry Washington from the White House because of her “flirty” relationship with the president, say sources. The unmarried beauty is said to be No. 1 on the first lady’s secret list of women to keep away from her husband. In “Scandal,” the new ABC drama about sex and intrigue in the political world, Kerry’s character, hard-boiled crisis “fixer” Olivia Pope, has had a steamy affair with the president. And Michelle is determined to make sure that fiction doesn’t turn into fact, say sources. “Kerry loves high powered men and she will flirt with anyone – including the president – and the first lady knows that,” disclosed an insider. “It’s no secret among her staff how Michelle feels. Kerry is NOT to be trusted. “Michelle doesn’t take any chances where her marriage is concerned. If she feels another woman is crossing a boundary, she’s out!” Kerry, 35, shot to the top of 48-year-old Michelle’s “watch list” after the actress was appointed to the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities, an honorary post that could bring her into personal contact with the commander-in- chief. Meanwhile, Kerry has made no secret of her admiration for the president. She once told “The New York Times”: “I want to do whatever I can to make democracy hot.” Michelle doesn’t strike us as an insecure woman but it’s no secret that many a man did some creepin’ in the Oval Office. Do you think the President would give in to Kerry and those juicy soup coolers of hers? Source WENN More On Bossip! Whitney Houston Death Probe Finds No Foul Play

Police close their investigation into the singer’s death after concluding it was accidental. By Gil Kaufman Whitney Houston Photo: 20th Century Fox/Getty Images Police investigators have concluded their probe into the death of Whitney Houston and concluded that she died
of accidental drowning. According to CNN , the probe by the Beverly Hills Police Department was officially closed after investigator found “no evidence of foul play.” In a statement from the department, police said, “Based on the findings of our investigation and our review of the coroner’s report, we have determined that this is not a criminal matter.” The Los Angeles County coroner released its autopsy report last week in which it determined that Houston’s February 11 death was an accidental drowning
with the “effects of atherosclerotic heart disease and cocaine use” as contributing factors. The conclusion of the police investigation was followed by the release of the 911 emergency call about the incident, in which a hotel security officer told the 911 operator that the woman who called for help from Houston’s room was “irate and pretty much out of it.” The security officer did not identify Houston as in the call. “I need paramedics, apparently I’ve got a 46-year-old female, found in the bathroom,” he told the 911 operator. “That’s all I’ve got right now, but they’re requesting paramedics.” The autopsy report said that Houston’s assistant found the singer, who is actually 48 years old, face down in a bathtub of “extremely hot water.” “I’m not sure if she fell, or if she was in the bathroom with the water,” the security officer said in the call, adding, “apparently she wasn’t breathing.” When asked if the guard could get the 911 operator into the room to give CPR instructions, the security officer said “no, because she [the woman who called from Houston’s room] kept hanging up on us.” The coroner’s report did not detail exactly what happened to cause Houston’s death, but addiction medicine specialist Dr. Drew Pinsky told CNN he had a theory. Pinsky examined the autopsy report and suggested that Houston might have suffered a seizure brought on by the use of cocaine, possibly combined with a withdrawal from alcohol and a prescription sedative. Police did find an empty bottle of the anti-anxiety drug Xanax in Houston’s room, as well as empty beer bottles, but alcohol was not detected in her body and the level of the sedative in her blood was low. “To me, a sudden drop-off in the Xanax level, a drop-off in your alcohol consumption, add cocaine, that’s a recipe for a seizure,” Pinsky said. “Somebody who’s now upside down in a bathtub could easily seize and drown.” Related Videos Whitney Houston: Life And Music Of An Icon Related Photos Whitney Houston: A Life In Photos Related Artists Whitney Houston

Short Circuit Director Makes Awesome Case For Unwanted Remake

“’The thing that makes it so relevant is that we live in this age of robots, particularly when it comes to war,’ [Tim] Hill, also a longtime writer on the television series SpongeBob SquarePants , told 24 Frames. ‘We have drones that do our fighting for us, do all these jobs men and women don’t want to do. And that’s what makes this so interesting — things like this moment in the story when Johnny realizes he’s going to be disassembled and contemplates death, and whether it’s right to terminate someone else.’ He paused. ‘These are heavy themes for a family movie,’ he said, anticipating a reasonable reader’s reaction. ‘But I think they can have their place.'” Of course.
