B lack women are continuing to break major racial barriers in the realm of academia. According to the Journal of Blacks in Higher Education , Kimberly Mutcherson was recently selected to become the dean of Rutgers University’s law school. “I care a lot about doing work that is not just for other legal scholars, but has the potential to be meaningful in people’s lives,” says new @RutgersLaw Co-Dean Kimberly Mutcherson ( @ProfessorMutch ) in a feature in @PhillyInquirer . Read: https://t.co/JsQ12kwwWw — Rutgers Law (@RutgersLaw) January 11, 2019 Mutcherson’s historic appointment is one of many firsts, the news outlet writes. She is the first woman, the first Black person and the first LGBT individual to serve in this role. Mutcherson started her journey at Rutgers 17 years ago as an assistant professor. She then moved up the ranks and in 2015 was named vice dean of the New Jersey-based university’s law school. Mutcherson—who earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a juris doctorate degree from Columbia Law School—has conducted research surrounding reproductive justice. During her career she’s worked with the Center for Reproductive Rights and the HIV Law Project. “I am thrilled to be able to continue my service to Rutgers law as co-dean,” said Mutcherson, according to the Philadelphia Tribune . “I know that our institution has a very bright future and will continue to provide a high-quality legal education and produce lawyers who change the profession and the world for the better.” Rutgers University-Camden Chancellor Phoebe A. Haddon said that Mutcherson will play an integral role in building upon the momentum and energy at Rutgers Law. “She is passionate about the value of a legal education that prepares creative thinkers who are ready to be leaders in virtually every aspect of our society. She sees with clarity the role of the law in protecting individual rights” said Haddon. Mutcherson started her new role on January 1. Her appointment comes just months after Olivette Otele made history by becoming the first Black woman history professor in the UK after being selected to teach at Bath Spa University. Quick, what does Leonardo DiCaprio’s current relationship have to do with the government shutdown? No one expected it to last this long, and it makes everyone little unsure of what the future holds. Believe it or not, it’s been over a year since we first learned that Leo is dating Camila Morrone . From the start, there was talk of DiCaprio and Morrone getting engaged, but that seems to happen with all of Leo’s relationships lately. Basically, he turned 40 and everyone started expecting him to pull a Clooney, settle down with someone unexpectedly brainy, and start churning out the offspring. Camila seemed like a good candidate for the Mrs. DiCaprio title from the moment we met her. Yes, she’s a model, like pretty much every other woman Leo has dated in the past 20 years, but those closest to the couple say she challenges the actor intellectually in a way that most of his previous partners have not. And now, she’s reached a virtually unheard of milestone, as she and DiCaprio recently celebrated one full year of dating. Leo is famously secretive about his love life, but he and Camila recently confirmed that they’re still an item by taking a New Year’s trip to Thailand together. As Lainey Gossip points out , Thailand is where Leo filmed his Titanic follow-up The Beach — a film that came out when Camila was 2 years old. But hey what’s a massive age gap in the face of true love? Besides, it’s not like Leo was ever gonna settle down with a woman anywhere near his age anyway. So is there any truth to the rumors that DiCaprio and Morrone are engaged? Well, that may be jumping the gun — but surely Camila deserves some sort of fancy jewelry for lasting this long with the notoriously fickle-hearted Leo. Whatever the case, 2018 was certainly a banner year for the Oscar-winner’s love life. Not only because he went public with Camila, but also because it was the year we learned that DiCaprio banged Vanessa Trump . As much as we’d love to see the guy settle down, perhaps we shouldn’t be limiting his ability to stick it to the Trump clan right now. Just a thought.

Source: Janeé Bolden / Janeé Bolden Stars Of OWN Network Dating Show Talk About Dating On TV Will Packer had a hit on his hands with OWN’s “Ready to Love” and the show actually ended in two love matches. Alexx, who found his match with Ashlee and Mike and Shea, who seemed to fall in love at first sight. Weeks before the cast reunited to revisit the ups and downs of the show, BOSSIP sat down with Mike and Shea to talk about the experience. BOSSIP: Do you think you two would have met if you hadn’t done the show? Shea: I don’t see how we could have, because I have a certain route and I don’t detour, I don’t hang out. I worked for the radio station but even then I chose not to be out, I’d be in the station running the boards. I’m just not a going out person. And I enjoy naps. BOSSIP: You guys were locked in from day one — was it love at first sight? Shea: For me the attraction was there, Mike did something that I don’t typically like, he did the come here [motions with her finger]. Mike: Soon as she walked in. Shea: And that was it. The conversation was fun, it wasn’t too heavy. He wasn’t trying to interrogate me, he had roots going back to the Midwest and he was funny and I could laugh. BOSSIP: Do you think it’s really that hard dating in Atlanta? Mike: Anything with Black folks gets a bad rap. Africa, Atlanta. I think Atlanta is a beautiful place, it’s the Wakanda of America. It’s thriving. You’ve got a bunch of young black entrepreneurs, the government is not holding you back. For me, as far as dating was concerned, because I don’t go to clubs, I don’t go to lounges, I’ve been here four or five years and people are like, where have you been? I go to bed at like 10. And if I go to the gym I’m not going to ask someone to remove their headphones to talk to me, I’m not shy or anything like that. I think people don’t self reflect enough, they just put it on the location. Because if you’re having problems dating in Atlanta, you’ll have problems in California or anywhere else. BOSSIP: What do you think made you guys’ situation go so much more smoothly than some of the others? Shea: What I like about Mike is we bounce a lot of ideas off each other, we both have unconventional lifestyles. I might say, ‘I can’t go to dinner, I’m too tired,’ and he’s fine with that. I’m not at a point anymore where I’m pressed about anything. If he’s busy I trust him, if I don’t see him today I’ll see him tomorrow. Mike: And it makes a man miss a woman. I’m not used to that. You don’t want it to become like washing dishes, damn I gotta wash the dishes. I don’t have to check in, She’s checking on and I like that about her. Shea: He has to have his personal space. You need to have your space on your own, outside of me and I gotta respect that, just like I may not want to be bothered everyday all day long either. We’ve got to respect each other’s boundaries and personal space. I do that with my son. I built a room in my garage for him to have his own little man cave so he doesn’t have to be up under me all the time. This show is about compatibility, not a competition. People keep saying it’s a competition. All of the women are beautiful. All the women have something to bring to the table. Mike isn’t going to work for every chick and every dude is not gonna work for me. I understood that early on. BOSSIP: One of the conflicts you had was that Mike wants kids and Shea, your first experience with motherhood was rough. How did you guys work past that? Shea: It was rough. He [her ex] put me through it, but I had to take into account he was young, we both had no idea what we were doing, we both were young. We weren’t compatible. It would be like buying a house with someone and then being like, no you do it, you got it. Mike: I think the misconception was that I was asking for a child right now. We don’t know each other well enough to say ‘Hey let’s have a child,’ it’s more so of — she had postpartum depression. I didn’t know anything about that, a lot of men don’t, so it was just like ‘Why wouldn’t you want to have a child?’ When she broke it down to me I had to understand from that aspect. I never had a child before. So I just had to understand and be patient. She’s open now, so now that we know she is open, when we get to that point we’re like okay, first we’re going to get married, because marriage is supposed to come before a baby. I didn’t wait 39 years to just throw a baby in somebody. I really do want to have a baby, but I didn’t want to let this woman go because everything about her is so dope. That’s why I learned patience too, because it was something so strong I took the time to find out why. I understand now and with time she said, ‘I could see you being a good father, so if we get to the point of marriage I would be willing to have children with you.’ Hit the flip for more from this beautiful couple.

The 2015 tweet supported anti-Muslim sentiment stirred up by Donald Trump, and Vallelonga has since deleted his Twitter account. Variety writes : “@realDonaldTrump 100% correct,” the Nov. 2015 tweet read. “Muslims in Jersey City cheering when towers went down. I saw it, as you did, possibly on local CBS news.” At a November rally, Trump had said, “Hey, I watched when the World Trade Center came tumbling down. And I watched in Jersey City, New Jersey, where thousands and thousands of people were cheering as that building was coming down. Thousands of people were cheering.” ABC’s George Stephanopoulos challenged Trump on the claim, but the then-presidential candidate insisted that he saw Muslims celebrating with his own eyes. The outlet added that fans on Twitter pointed out to Vallelonga that Green Book ‘s leading man in Ali is a Muslim. Since its debut, Green Book has endured critique from the family of Dr. Don Shirley, who Ali plays in the film. Nick Vallelonga wrote Green Book. My industry just gave him a Golden Globe for writing. This remains on his timeline. Mahershala Ali is a Muslim, and a beautiful, generous and kind man. Source: MCT / Getty Is America ready for its first Black female president? California Senator Kamala Harris sure thinks so and sources believe she might prove this theory with her own run in 2020. According to KCBS Radio , sources claim that Harris, 54, plans on throwing her hat in the presidential election ring, most likely announcing her bid on or around Martin Luther King Jr. Day in a rally in her hometown of Oakland. However, one of Harris’ reps told The Hill on Thursday that no announcement is imminent and she will not be in Oakland during the holiday weekend. Meanwhile Harris, 54, hasn’t confirmed her run for President, but has said in numerous interviews that she will make that decision soon. . @CapehartJ asks Sen. Kamala Harris about running for president: “Do you have a timetable for making a decision?” @KamalaHarris “Soon.” Watch full conversation here: https://t.co/3Pi4VLADqo pic.twitter.com/UbkcEIvP7M — CSPAN (@cspan) January 10, 2019 Sen. They are smarter than that.” “Despite a woman’s role in the world, there are still certain myths of what a woman can and cannot do,” Harris said, citing her mother. As a woman of color, Harris is no stranger to breaking the political glass ceiling in her state, which is why her mother warned her about the racial and gender stereotypes she would face. “In spite of the fact that it is the woman who is the lioness, protecting those cubs. In spite of the fact that it is the woman at the kitchen table at midnight balancing those books,” Harris stressed. “There are so many myths that we still are challenged with,” she continued. “But with each woman who gains success, I think there is a greater appreciation and understanding of the capacity and breadth and depth of who women are and what we can do.” This news of running definitely has some folks on Twitter excited: Apparently Kamala Harris is running for President and she will do a formal announcement around MLK birthday Historic!! As a society, we spend plenty of time laughing at Florida Man. But we shouldn't ignore the antics of Florida Woman . Most recently, a woman was filmed screaming herself hoarse in an airport and acting like an absolute lunatic. As you can see and hear in the video, this woman had absolutely snapped. It was at 5pm on a Sunday at JetBlue Terminal Gate F at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport A treveler from New York, named Chris Murphy, was able to record video of a woman yelling and screaming at airport employees. Though the JetBlue employees were thankfully behind a desk, that did not stop the furious woman from gaining ground on them. Fueled by her own rage, she hopped up and leaned across the desk, while her feet dangled in the air. It was quite the spectacle. On Twitter, Chris Murphy explains that the flight to Newark Liberty International Airport was delayed. (It was later reported that the woman was “set off” when she missed her flight) Airlines are an oligopoly, leaving very little pressure for customer service to improve — but JetBlue actually has a fairly positive reputation. That did not stop this woman from berating the employees, who had zero control over the plane schedule. “Get me out of Florida,” she screams. First of all, mood . Anyone who's ever been to the Gunshine State has known that feeling. But her behavior when she expresses the relatable sentiment is absolutely unacceptable. “GET ME OUT OF HERE!” she yells, berating the employees. “GET ME OUT THIS STATE!” “GET ME OUT OF THIS F—-D UP PLACE, YOU RAPISTS!” she yells. Her complaints about Florida are common sense. We cannot speak as to why she would use that particular label to describe those poor JetBlue employees. After this tirade, she picks up her small duffel bag and walks off, almost calmly, as if at the end of an '80s movie. That was, of course, not the end. A follow-up video, which we have also included, shows that young woman being escorted through the airport. “I hate white cops!” she screams. An eyewitness described the woman herself as being a white woman. TSA agents aren't paid enough for this. Actually, right now, they're not being paid anything at all. JetBlue reported to Yahoo that the customer in question, a 26-year-old California resident, was denied boarding. They reported that she appeared to be intoxicated. Looking at her explosive behavior in the airport, it looks like the decision to preclude her from boarding an airplane was the right call. (Imagine if they'd let her board, only to have her flip out like that on the plane itself?) She was removed and, in accordance with the law based upon her behavior, placed in a 72-hour hold for evaluation. That sounds like a very good call, for everyone's safety but also for her own. Sometimes, very good and decent people have breakdowns that prompt erratic behavior and humiliating incidents like this one. We hope that she is able to come to her senses, apologize for this incident, and one day look back upon it and know that things have gotten better.
90 Day Fiance stars Eric Rosenbrook and Leida Margaretha quit the series after receiving some harrowing death threats. Fans are convinced that Leida is a bad person, and some took their outrage at her actions way too far. Now, a report says that Leida’s whole goal in the first place was to become a reality star. Did she bite off more than she can chew? A Soapdirt article has been circulating recently that claimed that Eric Rosenbrook secured Leida Margaretha’s engagement on one condition: The two of them had to become reality stars on 90 Day Fiance . Or, at the very least, they had to apply. Eric shot down this rumor speaking to various 90 Day Fiance fanblogs, and then took to his own Instagram stories to clear things up. “It’s not true,” Eric stated on Instagram. “In the least.” “We were engaged,” he affirmed. “And the K1 petition was filed long before we even knew about 90 Day Fiance .” Of course, some fans believe that Leida’s ulterior motive is very clear. It’s just that becoming a reality star was not her goal from the start. Leida has shared that she intends to further her alleged medical career here in the United States. She has told fans and followers alike that she is studying for her US Medical License Exam. However, some internet sleuths have cast doubt upon this claim — because the timeline doesn’t match up. Indonesian medical school lasts for six years, but Leida’s social media information says that she was in medical school from 2008 to 2012. Is she even a real doctor? Some fans suspect that she is not. There are rumors circulating about Leida that are far worse than lying about being a doctor. Leida’s ex’s wife took to social media to claim that Leida once tried to give away her 5-year-old son. “She asked my husband, her ex f–kboy to adopt her son,” the woman claimed. “Apparently,” she continued. “She asked my husband for not only him to adopt Aless, but us both.” Leida’s alleged motive was the hope that she could become “child-free.” We hope that we do not have to explain why this horrifying rumor is dubious at best. There is zero proof that it is true and, presumably, the woman has every motive to disparage Leida. There are plenty of real, verifiable reasons for people to dislike Leida if that is their aim. Leida herself has openly acknowledged that she was unkind to Eric and especially unkind to his children. She drove Eric’s 19-year-old daughter, Tasha, from her own apartment. Leida then chastised Eric on camera for paying child support to his ex for their youngest daughter. Fans did not take that well, and Leida has abased herself before 90 Day Fiance viewers. Hating some reality stars is part of the experience, but some fans took things too far with Leida. These viewers made death threats against Leida and Eric for their behavior on the show. Worst of all, some of these hateful messages even threatened the safety of Leida’s 5-year-old son, Alessandro. While we hope that no one making these threats was seriously contemplating any of this, that is … never acceptable. Hate somebody all that you like, but leave death threats — and children — out of it. View Slideshow: 90 Day Fiance: Twitter Reacts to the Tell All
For the most part, Duggar women are very strongly encouraged to eschew careers in favor of devoting their adult years to child-rearing. There is, however, a short list of money-making endeavors that they’re permitted to pursue. At the top of the list is midwife work, which is one of the few professional avenues open to Duggar women. (The other one is flipping cars or otherwise assisting in one of Jim Bob’s many business ventures, but this is only permissible until such time as the woman finds a suitable sperm donor.) So Jill Duggar has continued working as a midwife even after tying the knot with Derick Dillard. Insiders say Jana Duggar recently followed in her sisters’ footsteps and is now delivering babies in and around her native Tontitown, Arkansas. And like Jill, it seems that Jana has yet to obtain the proper licensure. The Duggars have long taken a rather libertarian approach to state and local ordinances. For example, Jim Bob has pissed off his neighbors numerous times by basically ignoring zoning regulations. Of course, delivering babies is a pretty high stakes procedure, so the Duggars’ neighbors are a bit less forgiving of the alleged gaps in Jill and Jana’s training. To be fair, no one is claiming that the women didn’t receive any kind of training at all. It’s just that it appears they went through the sort of un-regulated faith-based program that the Duggars prefer for, well … everything. “This is hands-on apprenticeship style,” Jill once said in reference to her training. “So we are really getting in there and getting to experience what the midwifery and doula roles look like, hands-on.” Jill defenders have frequently pointed to the above photo, which does show Jill proudly displaying a certificate to work as a midwife. But the photo doesn’t tell the whole story. Jill is holding a Certified Professional Midwife’s competency license, which is very different from a Certified Nurse Midwife license, generally considered the standard in her field. So she and Jana might be able to work as midwife’s assistants, but they’re not qualified to perform such work on their own. The situation has attracted a considerable amount of controversy in recent weeks for a number of reasons: 1. Jill’s midwifing mentor, Vanessa Giron, is currently being sued by a mom who claims she nearly died during her deliver. (Sources say Jill was on hand for the delivery.) On top of that, it’s now rumored that several other Duggar daughters are beginning careers as midwives. Needless to say, this situation may not resolve itself as quickly and quietly as the Duggars are hoping. View Slideshow: The Duggars: Abusing Their Own Kids With Twisted “Pearl Method” Parenting
Hot wings are big business in the hood and whether you get em from your neighborhood Chinese spot or right off of Nicki Minaj’s neck (remember that?), everyone appreciates a well done wing. 2 Chainz rams that notion home in his visual for “Hot Wings” where the rapper that tends to rock way more than 2 chains finds himself inside American Deli where two shorties end up scrapping over an order of lemon pepper wings. Truth be told we don’t know what kind of wings they were but only an order of some lemon pepper wet would lead to that kind of hysteria.
