‘Jersey Shore’ New Season: Burning Questions We Want Answered

From Deena drama to the duck phone, here are five things we hope to clear up when the show returns on Thursday. By Eric Ditzian The new cast of “Jersey Shore” Photo: Josh Kessler Previously, on “Jersey Shore” : Snooki, the Situation and the rest of the roomies survived a GTL-filled tear through Miami Beach — motor-boating Jell-O shot girls at night, serving up gelato flavors in the bleary morning — and packed up to head back to Seaside Heights. They brought plenty of baggage with them. When “Jersey Shore” picks up again on Thursday with the premiere of the show’s new season, there will be many lingering questions left over from the reality stars’ time down south. Before this season’s final fist-pump, here are five questions we hope to have answered: Will Sammi and Ronnie Make It Work? The drama between these two lovebirds — by turns crabbily thin-skinned and candidly raw — has provided the show with much of its dramatic energy for two seasons. Sam and Ron ended the second season just as they ended the first: together and in love. But the up-and-down pair is as addicted to relationship conflict as they are to maintaining their tans. No doubt they’ll engage in some (irrational) brawling. Whether they’ll survive a summer of Shore temptation remains to be seen.

Chris Harrison Previews Compelling, Scandal-Free Season of The Bachelor

In an exhaustive and not very revealing new interview with TV Guide , King of All Pimps Chris Harrison previews the new season of The Bachelor. In Chris’ defense, he can’t yet reveal The Bachelor spoilers we’ve already posted. His job is to get people pumped for the return of Brad Womack. That return, he says, was not easy for the star – or the women. “There’s a large group out there that’s like, ‘Screw this guy. I hope he falls on his face and gets what coming to him,’ and he does,” Harrison said. Brad, who dumped both DeAnna Pappas and Jenni Croft three years ago, faces some skeptical contestants – and Pappas and Croft – January 3. But despite the animosity he initially feels, Harrison says an old-school Bachelor progression follows, sans the “crazy scandal” of recent seasons. “There was no crazy scandal,” Chris says. “It either happens or it doesn’t … Someone sleeps with one of our producers or they don’t. Someone has a girlfriend back at home or they don’t. We’re always at the whim of our contestants.” So what CAN we expect from Brad Womack this winter? “There’s a lot of drama, but my guess is Brad doesn’t know or hasn’t seen 95 percent of it,” Chris says. “It’s definitely one of those seasons where he’s not privy to a lot of it and will be shocked by what’s going on behind the scenes.” As for the lack of Rozlyn Papa-style drama, Chris says “there’s a huge part of me, the normal human being part of me that is completely relieved.” “It’s kind of old-school Bachelor . Brad was such an overwhelming story going in that he overshadowed anything, anyway. Him trying to redeem himself and proving he’s a good guy, that’s more than enough to keep everyone intrigued.” “I’m kind of glad nothing happened to take away from that.” As for this year’s group of women? “What we have this year instead of scandals are unbelievably compelling, tragic stories that you will absolutely be captivated by. It’s a different group than we’re used to, a little more mature in their life experiences,” says Chris. “One thing I love about this show is they all bring their own baggage. Good, bad or tragic, that affects the show and where the show goes. It’s amazing to see how this show is pushed and pulled by everyone’s stories and their histories.” His predicted fan favorite right off the bat? “Emily. She’s a sweet, cute Southern package. Even if you didn’t know her story you’d want to put her on your night stand and keep her as a doll. She’s the sweetest thing in the world, but when you hear her story, you realize how strong she is.” Will there be any Vienna Girardi-type fights between girls? “Michelle is a polarizing figure. She might easily be the most beautiful girl on the show and knocks Brad on his backside the moment she gets out of the limo with this leopard print dress. Lo and behold, she’s the instigator in the house.” “But all Brad sees is this sweet, unbelievably beautiful girl. Regarding DeAnna and Jenni’s visit, Chris says it was a great idea because “he needs to have that closure and although they’ve already moved on and Jenni’s married and DeAnna’s about to be, I think for him it was good to have it out.” “It was a great springboard to start the show for Brad, make amends, really admit that he was a jackass and how he was afraid to make a mistake.”

Kaley Cuoco’s Wonder Woman Cleavage

Kaley Cuoco isn’t exactly the hottest chick on television, but put her in a Wonder Woman costume and all of a sudden things start to look up. Especially in my pants. I guess you can put pretty much any half decent looking chick in a Wonder Women costume and their stock is going to go up. Obviously the chick can’t be over a certain weight class, we don’t need a bunch of fat Wonder Women walking around town. Gross. Anyhow, It’s nice to see Kaley with her boobs hanging out.

Pictures show Disney star wearing just a bra and licking a female friend’s face. By Jocelyn Vena One of Demi Lovato’s leaked photos Photo: BuzzMedia In photos of Demi Lovato that hit the Net, the Disney star is seen pulling her shirt down to reveal her cleavage, surrounded by a group of her friends, and also posing in just a bra. While the photos were published on the blog Anything Disney on Wednesday, other websites just picked them up Friday (December 17). Anything Disney posted an additional photo of Lovato, reportedly from the same night, where she is wearing a belly-baring top, pulling down her shirt and licking a female’s face. One of the women in the photos, donning orange/red hair and kissing Lovato’s shoulder, appears to be Alex Welch, the dancer Lovato allegedly punched before the singer/actress entered a treatment facility last month. Recently, Welch opened up about her incident with the teen star, noting that she was surprised when Lovato allegedly struck her. “I felt, honestly, I didn’t say anything and didn’t think twice about it,” Welch recalled. “We were on the plane with the Jonases having this awesome time, and I didn’t get a call or text from Demi or a ‘Hey, you got a problem with me,’ nothing. And she walks up and punches me and, literally, walked away and got in her seat. No one should walk up and do that and brush it over, it’s not right.” Kevin Jonas recently told MTV’s “The Seven” that he hasn’t spoken with his former tourmate recently. “I really haven’t had any contact [with her],” Kevin said. “Of course, we wish her well in her recovery.” Related Artists Demi Lovato

Lil Wayne Gives Fan’s Mother A Wheelchair

‘I really thank him to be so great and give me a chair,’ says Evelyn Austin, who received the present from Wayne after her daughter, Ronda, wrote him encouraging letters in jail. By Mawuse Ziegbe Lil Wayne Photo: Alexander Tamargo/ Getty Images Lil Wayne is making new fans, but this time, it’s not for his Carter hits, it’s for his compassion. When Wayne was riding out his eight-month prison bid this year, he received tons of kind messages from fans. However, the missives — and the plight — of one Weezy acolyte in particular, Ronda Austin, touched him so much that he lavished her family with a much-needed gift: a wheelchair for her mother. In a short film posted on the MC’s WeezyThanxYou blog , Austin describes how her words of encouragement led to the generous present. “One day I was driving down the expressway and my phone rang … Something said just pick up it up. I’m like, ‘Hello?’ and he’s like, ‘Hi, may I please speak to Ronda Austin,’ I said ‘Speaking. May I ask who’s calling?’ and he like, ‘Yes, this is Lil Wayne.’ I said ‘Oh, ok. Who?’ “she laughs. It may have taken Ronda a minute to realize who was on the line, but Wayne certainly knew who she was. She also describes how exactly how her relationship with her famous pen pal blossomed. “The first time I wrote Lil Wayne I just let him know that I support him, and I’m gonna keep writing him until he comes out. Just giving him a lot of encouragement [and] let him know that God is with him and tell him to keep his head up and stay encouraged. I would send him bible verses all the time, just a lot of words of encouragement. I talked a lot about my family, about myself, especially about my mom and my dad, which I love very much ’cause I always talk about my parents. I guess one of my letters must have touched him and he just gave me a call,” she explains. “In the midst of our conversation he said, ‘Did you and your dad get your mom a wheelchair yet?’ and I said, ‘No, we’re still working on getting her a chair. He said … ‘Alright, don’t worry about it.’ I said, ‘What do you mean?’ He said, ‘No, no, no, don’t worry about … I’m gonna take care of it.’ ” Wayne stuck by his word, and later the film shows representatives from Core Care Technologies, arriving at the Austins’ front door in New Jersey with her spiffy new ride, The Quantum 6000. Evelyn, who had been confined to her home for nearly two years due to weak knees and a sub-par wheelchair, happily tests out the new gift in the streets, as her family looks on. “I don’t know much about Lil Wayne but I’ll tell you that what he’s done, I think it’s a gift,” Ron Manno of Core Care Technologies says. “It’s very rare that you can find an opportunity to do what he’s done.” Evelyn didn’t know who Wayne was before the gesture either, but maintains she wouldn’t forget Weezy’s good deed. “I felt good, I felt really great. I didn’t know Wayne before now, but I do know him now and I thank him. I really thank him to be so great and give me a chair. He didn’t even know me and he got me a chair. I pray and ask God to bless him,” she says. “My mom hasn’t been out the house in the street in years. I just see such a difference in her. She has like, this get-up-and-go about her now. She can get in her chair, she’s more mobile and that means so much to us ’cause me and my dad, we’re doing a lot of things around the house and making my mom comfortable,” Ronda says, getting emotional. “But when she’s up and about, it’s just a good thing to see.” Wayne introduced the post with a short note that also ended with a heartfelt sentiment. “God Bless Austin Family,” Weezy wrote. What do you think of Wayne giving the Austins a new chair? Let us know in the comments! Related Photos The Men & Women Of 2010 Related Artists Lil Wayne

Eminem Is MTV News’ #2 Man Of The Year

Em raised the bar in 2010, thanks to a blockbuster album, hometown stadium shows and awards galore. By Gil Kaufman Eminem Photo: Kevin Mazur/EM/WireImage If there’s one thing we’ve learned by now about Eminem , it’s this: Never count him out. The 38-year-old Detroit legend seemed like he was in a career funk last year with the release of the long-awaited but unevenly dark Relapse, which chronicled his near-death experience with drug addiction and left some fans a bit worried about whether he’d finally run out of lyrical magic tricks. But what a difference a year makes. Near the end of 2009, we began getting excited about the promised, more “emotionally driven” sequel, Relapse 2. Twelve months and an entirely different album later, Eminem has the year’s best-selling release, handfuls of Grammy nominations and a fresh-eyed take on life that can only bode well for his next musical adventure. 2010 Highlights : As 2010 dawned, February brought Em joining Drake, Kanye West and Lil Wayne for a rousing, bleep-tastic performance of “Forever” at the Grammys with a tease of “Drop the World,” his hookup with Weezy that hit screens and iPods a month later, bringing together two of hip-hop’s biggest names for a rough-and-ready cut. He killed it again with his verse on B.o.B’s “Airplanes Pt. 2” and then the shocking news broke April 14 that “there is no Relapse 2. ” Fans were dumbstruck, but not for long, as the MC clarified later that day that he would be dropping a whole new album called Recovery on June 22. April’s release of the first single, “Not Afraid,” provided proof that Slim Shady would be taking a more positive, uplifting approach on his sixth major-label album, an encouraging note hammered home by lyrics on the song in which the rapper admitted that Relapse wasn’t his best work . In the run-up to the release, “Not Afraid” debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and there was more cause for celebration when Jay-Z and Marshall announced a slate of hometown stadium shows , which would represent one of the few live appearances the Detroit spitter would make in 2010. Then, despite leaking two weeks early, Recovery easily notched the highest debut of the year to date when it moved a gargantuan 741,000 copies in its first week, topping the charts for nearly two months on its way to selling more than 3 million copies to take the sales crown for 2010. After crushing it with “Not Afraid,” Em struck platinum again with an even bigger hit, his domestic-violence ballad “Love the Way You Lie,” a duet with Rihanna that featured an iconic video starring Megan Fox and Dominic Monaghan as the song’s protagonists. August brought a hefty eight VMA nominations and September the long-awaited shows with Jay, which found rap’s two biggest headliners torching the stage for thrilled fans in Detroit and NYC . In between the gigs, though, Shady found time to open up the VMAs with performances of “Not Afraid” and “Love the Way You Lie” with a surprise cameo from Rihanna on a night when he took home two Moonmen. By October, Em was talking about being in the lab with mentor Dr. Dre working on the latter’s long-awaited Detox album and topping MTV News’ Hottest MCs in the Game list . Eminem was also getting more shine for his duet with Nicki Minaj on “Roman’s Revenge” from her Pink Friday debut and another collabo with Rihanna on her track “Love the Way You Lie (Part II).” As 2010 came to a close, he could be heard on T.I.’s “That’s All She Wrote” and had locked down a “Saturday Night Live” appearance with Lil Wayne for December 18. He wasn’t done yet, as he led all artists with 10 Grammy nominations , landed at #9 on MTV News’ Top Songs of 2010 with “Love the Way You Lie,” took top spots on the album-sales chart on iTunes and Amazon.com and inked a deal to play a boxer in the “8 Mile” inspired “Southpaw.” Not bad, right? HIV-positive Women in Chile forcibly Sterilized & Abused

Hours after Francisca gave birth to her first child, a midwife came into the recovery room and bluntly informed her that she would never have children again. She had been sterilized, unknowingly, during her cesarean delivery. Francisca was HIV-positive and only 21.She woke up with a healthy, HIV-negative baby boy, and sterile. She was diagnosed with HIV during routine exams early into her pregnancy in 2002. Throughout her pregnancy no one in the local hospital counseled her on what it meant to be HIV-positive, the potential risks of transmission to her baby or the possibility of sterilization, claims Francisca, which is not her real name because of stigma assocaited with HIV. “As I was about to give birth, the nurse scolded me, telling me I was irresponsible for having gotten pregnant with HIV, and asking why I hadn’t aborted. It was horrible,” she said. “Today women with HIV can decide if they want a normal delivery or a cesarean, depending on their condition. But many women, especially in rural areas, don’t know that. Doctors tell them their babies will be HIV-positive if they don’t undergo a cesarean, and they won’t do the cesarean if the women don’t agree to sterilization. That’s how they scare women,” said Sara Araya, head of the women's department at Vivo Positivo. Cases documented in 'Dignity Denied' reveal that some doctors and nurses were shockingly misinformed about even the methods of HIV transmission, inaccurately advising mothers to use separate eating utensils and bathrooms, misguidedly directing them not to touch their babies – or refusing to touch the women themselves – and, as in Francisca's case, coercing or forcing them to get sterilised. Government health officials did not respond to repeated requests for interviews. Coercive and forced sterilizations against HIV-positive women have also been reported in Mexico, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, South Africa and Namibia. http://www.globalpost.com/dispatch/chile/101028/forced-sterilization-hiv-aids http://reproductiverights.org/en/feature/dignity-denied-violations-of-the-rights… added by: rebelution07

Taylor Swift Is MTV News’ #3 Woman Of The Year

Swift fell in and out of love through song, but we never stopped loving the superstar in 2010. By Jocelyn Vena Taylor Swift Photo: AP/Matt Sayles After a year as impressive as 2009, Taylor Swift followed suit in 2010. She toured the world, released a chart-topping album and even starred in her first feature film. Swift kicked off the year winning awards and ended it dominating the charts, and in between, she never looked back. (They’re more than just pretty faces, but you can still check out photos of our Men and Women of 2010!) Swift proved that she was more than just a crossover coincidence thanks to catchy songs and girl-next-door charm that appeals to the masses. She managed to scoop up awards and be surprised by each win. The other shoe isn’t going to drop anytime soon, and 2010 proved that. 2010 Highlights : In January, Taylor took home her first People’s Choice Award and covered Better Than Ezra’s “Breathless” at the “Hope for Haiti Now” telethon. She also broke Britney Spears’ record for first-week download sales by a female artist thanks to her tune “Today Was a Fairytale.” But it was February that would truly leave her breathless. At the Grammys in February, Swift took home four trophies , including Album of the Year. She also hit the stage with Stevie Nicks at the awards show. Weeks later, she would rule the box office alongside former beau Taylor Lautner in “Valentine’s Day.” Swift spent much of 2010 on tour, but along the way, she racked up nominations at a slew of awards shows, including the Academy of Country Music Awards and CMT Awards . In the spring, she revealed that she was working on her next album and that, unsurprisingly, it would focus on “boys and love.” In July, the singer announced that her next album would be out in October and that she wouldn’t hold back on the aptly titled Speak Now. Weeks later, in August, the album’s first single, “Mine,” leaked online and then soared to the top of the charts. “I was reflecting back on a boy I liked at a certain time,” she said about the song. The video was released at the end of August and showed a more adult side of the singer. Then September rolled around and Swift took the stage at the VMAs . It was a defining moment for the singer, as she publicly let go of the Kanye West incident from a year prior and buried the hatchet with the rapper thanks to her heartfelt performance of “Innocent.” Swift later explained , “I had a lot of options going into the VMAs: You can not go, you can perform your current single, you can pretend that nothing happened or you can say what you need to say at the time you need to say it.” By early October, Swift was pre-releasing Speak Now tracks, prompting speculation about whether the songs were referring to famous exes like Taylor Lautner and Joe Jonas . “I’ve never kept quiet the fact that I write songs about people,” she said. “It’s like, this is album number three. You guys have had fair warning!” For the album’s release, Swift invited fans to her album-release party , and just one week later, she found out that Speak Now had sold 1,047,000 units in its first week, making it the biggest album release in five years . Swift capped 2010 with performances at the CMA Awards and the American Music Awards , announcing a world tour , embarking on a whirlwind romance with Jake Gyllenhaal and turning 21 . Not a bad year, to say the least. We’ll be rolling out our Top Five Men and Women of 2010 all week, until we unveil MTV News’ Man and Woman of the Year on Friday.
