Especially when there are ugly stereotypes that are pervasive among said demographic. Enter Jacqui Cooper. A former Olympian skiier from Australia who was doing commentary for channel seven in the UK. During last night’s broadcast, Cooper made mention of the Chinese athletes and dropped this bomb: ‘Very Chinese,’ Cooper said of Yan Ting’s first jump. ‘They all look the same, they’re very hard to tell who’s who.’ *record skips* Wait. Excuse us. Come again? ‘They all look the same, they’re very hard to tell who’s who.’ Whoa. Really? Jacqui’s employer tried to come to her defense… ‘During tonight’s cover of the women’s aerials, commentator Jacqui Cooper a former Olympian and World Champion – noted than an aerial manouevre was in a technical and style sense, very Chinese,’ Seven said. ‘Meaning that the whole of the Chinese aerial team are trained in the same way – and the manouevre referenced was a classic technically perfect, trademark of that team’s style. ‘At no time was the commentary racist, intended to be racist or offensive.’ First of all, the ruling class doesn’t get to decide what is and isn’t racist. Secondly, why tf isn’t Jacqui making the statement. She’s a grown azz woman who said what she said and she can just as easily apologize as one. Jacqui cooper, I love you. A lot of people don’t really care for Lena Dunham, and they don’t care for her for a number of reasons. Those reasons are all very valid, but one admirable thing about Lena is that she’s always been ready and willing to talk about her endometriosis. Endometriosis is no joke — it can cause debilitating pain and it affects millions of women — but it’s still pretty misunderstood, and there’s not as much research happening on it as there should be. Women who have the disease are often brushed off by being told that they’re simply being dramatic about their periods when really it’s so much more than that. As Lena revealed in an essay she just wrote for Vogue, it can actually change your entire life. If you’re serious about your celebrity gossip, there’s a good chance that you’ve heard about Lena’s endometriosis before. She’s had multiple surgeries to try to combat the symptoms — which for her have mostly seem to be lots and lots of pain — and last spring, she had to leave the Met Gala to be hospitalized for complications . In this new essay, she explains that a few months ago, she had yet another surgery: a hysterectomy . “In August, the pain becomes unbearable,” she writes. “I am delirious with it, and the doctors can’t really explain. The ultrasound shows no cysts, no free fluid, and certainly no baby.” She says that from then until November she tried to “manage this new level of pain,” and that she tried several different kinds of therapy, as well as acupuncture and yoga, to try to find some relief. “Finally I ask my doctor if my uterus needs to come out,” she recalls. “She says, ‘Let’s wait and see.'” After two days of waiting and seeing, Lena says that she checked herself into a hospital and told doctors that she either wanted a hysterectomy or a solution to her pain. As you could imagine, it took a while for her to convince the hospital staff that she actually did want her uterus removed, and that she understood everything that entailed. She even wrote an essay on the topic for the doctors, in which she at one point referred to herself as “someone who hurts too much to express themselves, who can’t help but be a nuisance at best and a terror at worst.” After having her therapist write her doctors a letter, and after having a few sessions with a therapist selected by her doctors, she underwent a different surgical procedure — and when that didn’t work, she says that her request for a hysterectomy was finally taken seriously. After the surgery was completed, she writes “I wake up surrounded by family and doctors eager to tell me I was right. My uterus is worse than anyone could have imagined. It’s the Chinatown Chanel purse of nightmares, full of both subtle and glaring flaws.” “In addition to endometrial disease, an odd humplike protrusion, and a septum running down the middle, I have had retrograde bleeding, a.k.a. my period running in reverse, so that my stomach is full of blood.” She also says that her ovary was positioned on nerves in her back, and “let’s please not even talk about my uterine lining.” Now, a few months after her hysterectomy, she says that she’s healing nicely, though she does have a bit of a limp. “My mind, my spirit, are another story,” she says. “Because I had to work so hard to have my pain acknowledged, there was no time to feel fear or grief. To say goodbye.” Because of course to make the choice to have a hysterectomy was to make the choice never experience pregnancy and childbirth — something she says she’s wanted her entire life. Instead, Lena plans on “exploring whether my ovaries, which remain someplace inside me in that vast cavern of organs and scar tissue, have eggs,” and she also says that “adoption is a thrilling truth I’ll pursue with all my might.” “But I wanted that stomach,” she admits. “I wanted to know what nine months of complete togetherness could feel like. I was meant for the job, but I didn’t pass the interview.” “And that’s OK. It really is. I might not believe it now, but I will soon enough. And all that will be left is my story and my scars, which are already faded enough that they’re hard to find.” The whole essay is a tough read, and it’s hard to imagine how Lena must be feeling about all this. Audrey Roloff has a pretty great problem on her hands. She is totally and completely in love with being a mother, something she has stated on more than one occasion. But she also feels guilty any time she’s doing anything other than being a mother, which is likely an issue to which many new parents can relate. Audrey, who welcomed a daughter named Ember Jean into the world back in September, outlined this internal debate in a lengthy Instagram caption this week. It accompanied the precious photo of her child featured above. “I never even thought I would be one of those moms who just wants to lay on the floor playing with their baby all day,” explained Roloff, adding; “Before I became a mom I used to hear other moms saying things like, ‘oh the newborn phase is my favorite’ or ‘3-6 months is my favorite age.’ “I always figured that my favorite age would be when they can actually communicate with me and are able to do more than eat and sleep. But I was wrong. And now I get it.” As most mothers would probably verify, the best phase of your child’s life is whatever phase he or she is in at the moment. (Unless, that is, your child is a 14-year old girl. Yeesh!) The thing is, Audrey is a working mother. Yes, she works from home. Yes, she runs her own business. But this also means she must be self-motivated in order to make money… and that can be difficult when all she wants to do is cuddle with little Ember. “When you run your own business or ministry you don’t get “maternity leave” or paid time off,” explained Audrey in her message. She continued: “Being an entrepreneur means that if you don’t work you don’t get paid. “I love love the work I get to do running my shop @shopalwaysmore and our ministry @beating50 and I always assumed it would be so easy to keep working from home with babies. “I used to think, at least I wouldn’t have to leave them and go into an office for 8 hours every day.” Audrey, of course, has been criticized a bit in the past for using Ember as a promotional vehicle . We admit that we’ve been at the forefront of this criticism. But we’ve never doubted Roloff’s love for Ember, not one bit. Not at all. Audrey goes on to expound here on how she wants to spend every waking second taking care of Ember and feels terrible when she isn’t doing so. “Once I had Ember I realized that being present physically isn’t enough. It’s so easy to be physically next to her but emotionally and mentally somewhere else. “To be feeding her but also on my phone, or rocking her but thinking about the e-mails I need to respond to. “I feel guilty sometimes for not being able to just stay in bed and play with her, or for putting her in the play gym to be entertained by the dangling animals instead of me.’ We totally get that. We’ve been there. But all parents need a break sometimes. Your mental health isn’t just important for you; it’s important for your kids, too. They need their parents to never feel stressed or burned out. Roloff wrapped up her caption by seeking some advice and by asking if other women out there feel the same way. Turns out finding the balance between working and momming is pretty dang hard. Turns out that I love the newborn phase, and 3-6 month phase, and probally the phase after that, a lot more than I thought I would. Turns out I’d rather just BE with my baby girl than DO all the other things my days demand. Turns out raising this little girl feels more like my calling than anything I’ve ever done. I ended up with two actresses, Peggy Lipton and Nastassja Kinski , and a superstar model. I didn’t listen to all the advice.” He has women all over the world and sees them on a regular basis. Gina is now the star of the new Bravo reality show, “ To Rome for Love .” According to Madame Noire , the show follows several Black women as they try to find love in Italy . Follow @TheRSMS While on the show several of the women asked about what it was like to be married and why they got divorced. Gina said, “It’s sort of a part of my life I can’t seem to move past. I never aspired to be a chef. My ex and I worked together at a family restaurant BBQ business. I thought it would be one show, we’d go back to our regular lives. Who knew it would be the highest-rated show on Food Network ?” Gina also revealed that it was her husbands dream to be on television. On the show she looked so happy, but really wasn’t. She said, “I was always seen as this person that has it together. I would cry in my pillow at night. I would cry in the car. I would cry anywhere anybody couldn’t see me. The TV show became bigger than the marriage.” He became more of a business partner rather than her husband and she finally left. Nicole Eggert has leveled a serious allegation against Scott Baio. The former Baywatch actress, who appeared for years opposite Baio on the sitcom Charles in Charles, wrote on Twitter yesterday that the actor molested her back when she was a teenager, Commenting on a Tweet that referred to Baio as a staunch Donald Trump supporter, Eggert penned the following on Saturday afternoon: “Ask [Scott Baio] what happened in his garage at his house when I was a minor. Creep.” It obviously doesn’t lend credence to her accusation necessarily, but she had recently linked to Halsey’s viral speech at the Women’s March from last weekend and also Tweeted: “Always stand in ur truth it gives u strength.” In a series of Tweets, she went on to detail how Baio digitally penetrated her, starting at the age of 14. In a subsequent response to Twitter followers, Eggert said she was a “molested child” who “covered up” the alleged abuse for years, writing that she was “14, 15, 16 and 17” when these incidents occurred. How did Baio fight back? Initially by referring to Eggert’s claims as “100% lies” and then by sharing a 16-minute video on Facebook. “I remember her calling me and asking me to come over and coming in my house one time, and seducing me,” Baio says into the camera at one point in this video, adding: “[For] any normal heterosexual, red-blooded American guy, the outcome would have been the same.” Baio says this intercourse was consensual and that Eggert was of legal age at the time. He also played an audio recording of an interview Eggert gave to TheDirty.com, in which she described losing her virginity to Baio “way after” “Charles in Charge” was done. “It was years later,” Eggert can be heard saying. Eggert previous accused Baio of sexually abusing her as a minor in 2012. “I kept my mouth shut, because usually when false claims in the past have been made about me they just go away,” Baio said late Saturday. “But for some reason she will not let this one go away.” He proceeds to basically challenge Eggert to “go to the police” if she really has a case, as opposed to airing dirty (in his mind, bitter ) laundry on social media. Baio, who has made headlines of late for his support of President Trump , said the Eggert’s accusations undermine real victims with “legitimate claims.” In his view: “The problem with almost all he said-she said cases is they’re he said-she said. Now, go prove it or disprove it,” he says toward the end of his reply. “The real problem with this is people with legitimate claims aren’t taken seriously – and that’s too bad.” Nicole Eggert and Scott Baio on Charles in Charge.
