Patricia Schlein/WENN.com MTV VMA Viewership Hits Record Low Despite all the chatter that’s popped up since the VMAs took place on Monday night…apparently, none of y’all were really watching it. Ratings numbers for the 2018 ceremony have rolled in, and it’s not looking too good for the award show out here. According to Complex , the show pulled in record low audience viewership for the network. Despite boasting performances from Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande, and Jennifer Lopez to name a few, the show didn’t quite garner interest from viewers, only 2.25 million of which tuned in on MTV. Another 5.234 million tuned in on Vh1, BET, MTV2, and 8 other Viacom-owned channels where the show was broadcast live. So, overall, a total of only 7.484 million overall… which doesn’t even rival a viewing of HBO’s Game of Thrones . A resident of Bluffton, South Carolina was pulled over for reckless driving last Saturday morning and arrested on a number of charges. This, despite the fact that she was white. That statement may seem like a ridiculous non-sequitor, but it was actually the argument used by Lauren Elizabeth Cutshaw at the time over her run-in with the law. As documented by The New York Post, the 32-year old was caught by police officers blowing through a four-way stop sign at 60 miles per hour around 1:45 a.m. on August 4. With eyes described in the official report as bloodshot and glossy, Cutshaw told the cops that she had only two glasses of wine. But she was allegedly slurring her words and there was a strong scent of alcohol emanating from the vehicle. “I mean, I was celebrating my birthday,” Cutshaw told the cops when they asked her how big the glasses were for her pair of drinks, according to the report. This is a rather aburd excuse for two reasons: Her birthday is on August 9. One’s birthday is not an excuse for breaking the law. But this seemingly typical arrest has gone viral for a different reason. Cutshaw gave the officers what she believes were perfectly reasonable explanations for why they shouldn’t place her under arrest. To wit: She maintained perfect grades during all of her school years… she was a cheerleader … she was a member of a sorority. Oh, and also: “I’m a white, clean girl,” Cutshaw said, according to the report. For some reason, however, this defense did not mean anything to the arresting officers. When the officers asked what, exactly, Lauren meant by this announcement, she replied: “You’re a cop, you should know what that means.” (Translation: You guys only shoot and harass black people. So come on! Give me a break! ) What did mean something to these authority figures? The fact that Cutshaw failed sobriety tests; and that a breathalyzer showed that her blood alcohol at the time was .18 percent (the legal limit in South Carolina is 0.08 percent). The report actually cited Cutshaw’s “white” remark, noting: “Making statements such as these as a means to justify not being arrested are unusual in my experience as a law enforcement officer and I believe further demonstrate the suspect’s level of intoxication.” And also of her white privilege. In the end, Lauren was booked on charges of speeding, disregarding a stop sign, simple possession of marijuana, driving under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Even though Audrey Roloff is quitting Little People, Big World because it’s God’s plan , she’s still a public figure. Fans and followers can still see glimpses of her life on social media. So color many fans surprised when none other than Jacob Roloff, Audrey’s brother-in-law, showed up on her Instagram. And no shade was thrown. Have Auj and Jacob really buried their feud? On Saturday, August 4, Auj took to her Instagram stories to share a glimpse of her spending family time with her husband and his siblings. That’s right — all four Roloff siblings, each with their respective significant others. She captioned her image “Ice cream walks.” in it, you can see that Audrey and Jacob, her brother-in-law, are getting along perfectly well. Auj goes out of her way to pan over to Jacob where he is walking with his fiancee, Isabel Rock. Awwww, they look so cute! Jacob doesn’t follow Audrey on Instagram — he also doesn’t follow his father, Matt Roloff. But Audrey has “liked” nearly all of his posts for a while, now. They might not really seem like best buddies on social media, but it looks like they’re getting along well enough in real life. Feud rumors have swirled about these two since long before Audrey skipped Jacob’s engagement party , but it looks like things have improved. At the very least, neither feels the need to skip out on a family activity where the other is present. Some feuds are brought about by a specific instance. Someone was snubbed, or had a huge fight. While it’s possible that something like that happened behind closed doors between Jacob and Auj, Jacob doesn’t do the family’s show so fans certainly haven’t seen it. Instead, it looks like these two have ideological differences. Jacob is an outspoken agnostic who resents having been brought up with no choice about his own religious beliefs or activities. That’s an understandable source of anger. No one likes to feel powerless. Audrey is a diehard Christian whose views lean towards the traditional and conservative, even going so far as to refer to a “twisted generation” while praying for her daughter . In other words, these two are apparent opposites. The only thing that they seem to have in common is Jeremy Roloff and nice hair. Since Jacob and Audrey see the world in such different ways — and both are so outspoken — how are they able to get along so well? Part of that is almost certainly that they are just getting accustomed to each other. They are, after all, family. But there may be a secret ingredient to how these two in-laws are getting along: Isabel Rock. A number of fans believe that Isabel quashed Audrey and Jeremy’s feud and helped them to mend fences earlier this year. Sometimes, being aggressively friendly and loving two people can, in the nicest possible way, strongarm them into getting along. And it seems to have worked. At the moment, the Roloff siblings are all visiting their grandfather in California. He will turn 90 on January 1, 2019. It is wonderful to see and hear that Jacob and Audrey can set aside their differences for family activities — like ice cream walks. It is normal for close relatives to have wildly different views. What makes a family non-toxic is when they can respect each other’s views. Respecing them doesn’t mean pretending that they agree. But since neither Jacob nor Audrey are, like, nazis or whatever, it’s good that they can get along amicably. And it’s great that Isabel (allegedly) orchestrated their happier relationship. Instead, the Chicago rapper dialed down his initial aims and unleashed four new tracks for the masses. The tracks, “Work Out, “65th & Ingleside,” “I Might Need Security,” and “Wala Cam” featuring Supa Bwe. The songs cover much of Chano’s usual fare, which includes speaking on his engagement to his daughter’s mother, Kirsten Corley, his ties to the Chicago streets, and his generally positive views on life as it happens. Details on who provided production for the tracks are scant, but per Genius “65th & Ingleside features production from Greg Landfair, Peter Cottontale, Nate Fox, Lido, and Chance himself. Savvy fans will recognize Landfair’s name from the defunct Chicago band Kids These Days that Vic Mensa was also once a part of. On “I Might Need Security,” Jamie Foxx, Cottontale, Chance, and Smoko Ono are credited for the production. Lastly on “Wala Cam,” Landfair, Carter Lang, and Lido provided the heat. Lang has worked on SZA’s acclaimed CTRL project among other works. Fox has worked with Chance over the years and, along with Cottontale, is a member of The Social Experiment. On Thursday, Build-A-Bear found themselves in a bit of a PR crisis when they promoted a day of “Pay Your Age.” Parents or guardians could bring their kids to the store and have them build the bear of their dreams for however many fingers they were holding up. In other words, if your kid was three-years-old, get out them singles, it’s their lucky day! The idea seemed great, right up there with the free Slurpee day on 7/11. Only problem is, the promotion was so popular, the massive crowds became too chaotic for Build-A-Bear. They had to close down certain stores or limit the lines at others. The Detroit rapper, born Tyjuan Peoples, was slapped with a restraining order to keep away from his ex-girlfriend as he awaits a hearing. TMZ reports : According to docs, obtained by TMZ, Andrea Inzunza says Zay most recently attacked her in May. She says she’d just suffered a miscarriage, and on the way home they got into an argument. She claims Zay grabbed her by the arm, pushed her to the ground and ripped her shirt. Andrea says police responded, but doesn’t say what, if anything, happened to Zay. In the docs, she says the rapper also assaulted her in February when they were at home. Andrea says Zay tied her up with a Gucci belt, and started to choke her with his hands — all because she wanted to go to sleep, instead of watching him edit a music video. Andrea filed for a restraining order … which the judge granted. He must stay at least 100 yards away from her, at least until a hearing later this month.
