Dharun Ravi Apology, Actions Criticized in Tyler Clementi Case

Dharun Ravi, 19, reportedly sent a text message in which he apologized to Tyler Clementi, his Rutgers University roommate, on September 22 of last year. Clementi had taken his own life 14 minutes earlier. Prosecutors think Ravi’s apology – sent after he learned he would be disciplined by Rutgers for using a webcam to film Clementi’s romantic encounter with a male friend – was just a cynical attempt to avoid punishment from the school. “This was just one of many attempts by [the] defendant to dilute, cover up and explain, in other words to tamper with facts and to fabricate evidence that could be looked on as favorable to him,” Middlesex County prosecutors said. Ravi is charged with 15 offenses, including bias and intimidation. Prosecutors were responding to a motion filed by Ravi’s attorney to dismiss the charges. The prosecution cited instant-message chats, other text messages and emails sent by both Clementi and Ravi as more than enough reason to proceed. In one email to his resident assistant, Clementi allegedly wrote: “I feel my privacy has been violated and I am extremely uncomfortable sharing a room with someone who would act in this wildly inappropriate manner.” In one chat, Dharun Ravi allegedly wrote: “What if I catch him with a dude in my room. I’ll have Jarvis [a talking computer software program he installed on his laptop] warn me if he tries to rape me at night.” Ravi is not charged with causing Clementi’s death. Prosecutors say Tyler Clementi’s suicide is actually not relevant to their case. Still, Ravi’s attorney wants documents about the suicide to be considered as possible evidence that Clementi may have been depressed prior to his death. He killed himself by jumping off NYC’s George Washington bridge in a tragedy that helped launch the campaign against bullying by many celebrities.

My name is Zoë and this is my Bieber Experience. It all started…

My name is Zo ë and this is my Bieber Experience.   It all started on a sunny summer day, June 21st. My friends and I were going to the city just to hangout. I was super excited but mostly because that was the day that Someday, by Justin Bieber came out in Macy’s. I am a HUGE Bieber fan so of course I had to go and buy it the day it was coming out! At about 4:00pm, we finally set foot in Macy’s and my friends watched me run up to the perfume. When I asked to buy it, me and my friends were pulled over to the side by one of the store clerks. (At this point, it has been two years since I’ve been a Bieber fan and have yet to meet him which I was dying to do!) We were very confused as to why we were being pulled to the side. The clerk said to me, “You know, Justin Bieber is going to be here on Thursday.” And that is the very moment when my heart DROPPED. While she explained to us the details, and told us that we would have to stand in line for a very long time to get a pass, I was tearing up because of the excitement and disbelief of the words that were being spoken to me. We quickly ran out of Macy’s and I called my mom to tell her the news and beg her to let me come to the city very early in the morning to wait! After all the begging and crying for it, she finally let me go. The next day, Wednesday, was the day that we had to stand in line and be the first 350 people to get a pass. With all the fans that Justin has, I thought that this was going to be a long shot but I said to myself  NEVER SAY NEVER.  I finally got to Macy’s to realize that i was definitely one of the first 350 people which meant that yes, I was going to meet Justin Bieber that following day.I was number 188. We could not be any happier. Finally, the day was there. We had to show up inside Macy’s in the swimwear department at 1:00 sharp. Me being the Bieber fan I am, I showed up extra early. Once I saw a Someday ad, I started crying. I just couldn’t help myself because it had been two years of me wishing to meet Justin. Seeing him in concert twice, and never have met him. Admiring and obsessing over him, and never had met him. We were directed to the line where we had to wait for Justin to arrive. We stood patiently for 4 hours waiting for Justin while in the meantime, meeting Adam Braun. Then, all of a sudden, we hear Justin’s voice over the microphone. My ears and throat were hurting because of all the screaming that was happening and because of my screaming also. The line finally started moving. It made a kinda of meander kind of form and around one of the curves of the line was a curtain, and Justin standing behind it. When we got to that curve I snuck a look around the curtain and guess what I see. I saw Justin Bieber. Standing within just a couple of feet of me. And that is when I finally lost it. I couldn’t help the crying or freaking out anymore. When it comes to Bieber, I have major freak outs sometimes (even though that might sound a little weird but it’s true). The line is still slowly moving and I turn the corner to get a full on view of him standing on the stage right in front of me going girl by girl taking pictures with them. That is when I started REALLY freaking out. Yes it’s true, I was having a panic attack . No exaggeration whatsoever. I was quite scared because when you hyperventilate, your breathing becomes short, you get light headed and your legs and knees become weak, which is exactly what happened to me. With security next to me, they were asking if I was ok and if I needed to leave and go down to get myself calmed down. Of course I said NO! I was scared because I felt like I was about to faint, but the only reason why I didn’t is because Justin was looking up and down the line and we made eye contact. Since Justin apparently doesn’t like girls freaking out so much, I automatically got taken back and I froze in shock. Justin Bieber had just made eye contact with me and also saved me from possibly fainting when thats the last thing that I would want to happen! All of a sudden, I watched the girl right in front of me taking a picture with Justin and I realized that it was my turn. I suddenly looked to my right to the security guard telling me to go on stage but I was so scared that I refused. I was intimidated because it was Justin Bieber and this was finally it. I never really knew what it would really be like. They had to give me a little shove to make me go onto the stage and then it was time. I watched him wave bye to the girl in front of me and I can still re-play the moment in my head when he turned his head and saw me. I had the biggest butterflies and my heart was pounding just how it is now just thinking about it right now! He turned his head and held out his arms while I took the few steps that felt like an hours walk. We both were holding out our arms as if going in for a hug and I said, “Hi Justin!” he replied with “Hi cutie!” I asked him how he is, and he said “good thanks.” We posed for the picture that I don’t even remember taking and I was so nervous that I forgot the pose I was going to make that I had practiced in front of the mirror ; which made my pose look very awkward in my picture, but oh well! After the picture was snapped I wished him a nice day and he thanked me. I was able to keep my composure until the second I looked at my picture. I HAD JUST MET JUSTIN BIEBER. Here comes the waterfall, and the floor. I started crying SO hard and I fell to the floor. I just couldn’t keep myself composed. That was honestly the best and highest point of my life and I am so proud of myself for never giving up to meet Justin Bieber. I will never say never and that is My Bieber Experience. – @nycbelieberr See the rest here: My name is Zoë and this is my Bieber Experience. It all started…

UFO Cult Declares National Topless Day [PICS, VIDEO]

Well beam me up, Scotty, because I’m totally flying saucer-eyed right now! Thank you, thank you, we’ll be here all week. OK, let’s back up for a minute. National Topless Day is the brainchild of Rael, a former journalist and racecar driver who says aliens apeared to him on a hilltop on France in 1974 and told him that all life on Earth was created by extraterrestrials. Rael also claims the aliens told him that it was his divine mission to fight injustice- specifically, the skin justice of men being allowed to doff their tops in public while women’s watermelons must remain covered. Whatever you say, fella. In 2007, the space cult leader started www.go-topless.org, a site dedicated to rallying womankind to “FREE YOUR BREASTS! FREE YOUR MIND!” And believe it or not, there are women who have joined the cause, organizing topless protests and petitioning lawmakers to change the laws and make their states and cities officially “Top Free” (they’ve already succeeded in converting Columbus, Ohio, Portland, Oregon, Washington, DC and Austin, Texas, among other cities). They’re planning a “Historical Boob March” (their words, not ours) on Washington on August 26, 2012, but in the meantime topless advocates must content themselves with marching in boob-friendly locales each year on National Topless Day. (In uh, “top slave” locales like Los Angeles, protestors glue fake nipples over their own in order to prove a point. The point being that they also saw The Change-Up ). This past Sunday the Raelians and their compatriots gathered to celebrate their annual festival of funbags, and you bet there were photographers there to document the liberated love muffins. See the pics after the jump!

PETA Baits ‘Bators with Misleading Nude PETA.xxx Site

We know PETA is against animal cruelty, but c’mon, guys- “choking the chicken” is just a figure of speech! The controversial animal-rights organization has long been known for its “too hot for TV” marketing strategy, featuring celebrities from Kathy Najimy to Pamela Anderson posing (nearly) nude for the sake of our four-legged friends. Now PETA is collecting all of its sexy ads (and then some) on its www.PETA.xxx site, but even if you’re in the market for some vegetarian ‘vadge, DON’T click on it. Here’s why, according to the International Herald-Tribune: Internet surfers who visit the x-rated site will initially be presented with animal rights groups too salacious for TV ads and campaigns. However, the sexy side of PETA, illustrated in its galleries and videos, will give way to the horrific mistreatment of animals on factory farms, with pictures and video shot undercover by the group’s hidden camera investigations. It will have enough adult content to qualify for the XXX domain site but also some other graphic images of animals that viewers may not expect to see. In other words, the most graphic thing you’re going to see on PETA.xxx is a cow being slaughtered. If you ask Skin Central, that’s trouser snake abuse!

My name’s Kierra and I actually have TWO Bieber…

My name’s Kierra and I actually have TWO Bieber Experiences I’d like to share! Justin’s story of how he came to be who he is today inspires me to do the unthinkable. Last summer in 2010, that’s exactly what I did. My friend Kacy and I teamed up and made a video to help me possibly meet Justin on August 14th in Columbus, Ohio. I knew it was a long shot because I didn’t even have tickets to the show, but that didn’t stop me! I took that video and plastered it on EVERY website I could think of, just praying someone would see it. I tweeted it to Ryan, Alfredo, Justin, Scooter, EVERYONE! At times I felt like giving up. It was the day before the show and my hope was almost gone. Then a man from bieberfever.com by the name of Brad finally saw my video. There was no feeling greater than accomplishment, I could have cried. Actually I did. The next day I met my idol, Justin Bieber. I walked up to him, said “Hi Justin”. He smiled and said “Hi, how are you?” I just stood there like an idiot and watched his lips move, completely oblivious to the fact he’d just asked me a question. But it’s okay because he just laughed a little and turned toward the camera man, he put his arm around me, and I put my arm around his waist. We took the picture, and he said, “It was nice meeting you ladies!” , and that was that. Then on November 10th, 2010 I was noticed again. My best-friend Raedriana really wanted to see Justin because she’d never been! I wanted to help her, so I got people tweeting Scooter, Alfredo, Kenny, etc, to possibly help her see a show. Once again, THE DAY before the show, we received a message: “We’ve decided to give you two seats to tomorrow’s show, whose name should I leave them under?” That meant we BOTH got to go! We were so excited. Upon getting there, we discovered we’d been given FRONT ROW SEATS! Front row, dead center. The opening acts were amazing! After Sean Kingston’s performance, he came out from backstage, and was standing right in front of me! I asked him for a picture, and he gladly took one with me!  Then it was time for Justin to come out , I thought we were going to explode. The whole show went without a hitch UNTIL Justin was attempting to sing directly at me, and he accidentally spit on my face. I didn’t know what to do, because everyone around me saw it, long story short, I went into an asthma attack and found myself being escorted by Kenny Hamilton and some other large men BACKSTAGE to the paramedics!  While backstage, after I could breathe again, Ryan Good and Justin’s mom Pattie, walked by me! They came over and said hello, they were very, very nice! Kenny helped me back to my seat where I enjoyed the rest of the show. We stayed where the buses were until they all drove out. We just stood there and thought, “This all happened, because we believed it would”. Don’t think you need someone else to make something happen for you. BELIEVE in yourself. Nothing is impossible, the word itself is, “I’m Possible”. So thank you so much to Brad from BieberFever for making me the happiest and most grateful girl in the world! And for all you reading, in the words of our hero, “Never Say Never” ♥ -Kierra  @iSING4BIEBER Follow this link: My name’s Kierra and I actually have TWO Bieber…

Royce Reed’s “Basketball Wives” Boyfriend Gets Another Woman Pregnant

Follow this link:

Royce Reed’s “boyfriend” may not be the catch she claimed him to be on “Basketball Wives” this season. And Jennifer Williams is happy to tell us all about his lowlife ways. Jen wrote a blog for HollywoodLife about Monday night’s reunion episode and cleared up details about the infamous drink-throwing incident, her dating life, and Meeka & Royce’s “irrelevancy.” On Royce: Let me just get this topic out the way! Royce is irrelevant! I refuse to waste another ounce of breath on her. She just doesn’t get it! Royce is always starting some drama and I am at a point in my life where I am trying to get rid of drama and any negative influences. It boils down to myself, Shaunie and Evelyn not wanting to film with her because she is so full of drama. Other than her “movie role” with Eric, she doesn’t have much of a story line. I am certain she doesn’t want to talk about her new boyfriend that just had a baby with another woman while we were filming and we all know Dwight Howard has a gag order on her! Ok moving on… On Meeka: As far as Meeka goes she just needs to shut the hell up! Her mouth is what got her in trouble in the first place. She claims she doesn’t want to be in “the circle” but isn’t that the very reason she came on the show? She should start thinking and choose her words more carefully so she can stop putting her foot in her mouth! On Eric’s drink-throwing incident: The incident with Eric is very unfortunate, however it was just a firm confirmation that I am moving in the right direction. Everyone wants to say, “Well I would have done this or what took you so long?” No one can really say what he or she is going to do and/or react until they are in your shoes. I feel Eric ended our relationship with a coward move. Yes, yes I did throw a drink first. I was frustrated our discussion didn’t resolve anything about our impending divorce but I never hit him with the drink nor did I intend to hit him with the drink. The manner and forcefulness in which he threw that drink at me, not to mention hit my chin surprised the hell out of me! Again, another negative aspect and chapter of my life I am ready to close. I could have retaliated and threw a chair or flipped a table but I prefer to bow out gracefully. On dating: Closing one chapter and opening up another one, DATING!!!! I am having fun dating. Will and I had fun at my divorce/independence party but that is where it started and ended. He is a friend, nothing more. I don’t have a boyfriend at the moment. My main priority is business and myself! I am focusing most of my attention on my new lip gloss line, Lucid Cosmetics available at www.lucidcosmetics.com. But a girl deserves to play a little bit and go on a few dates. Race Matters: Natural Haired Black Women Complain About Racial Bias During TSA Hair Pat Down

SMH at TSA: Timery Shante Nance is an African-American woman who has a thing about her hair. “I don’t use chemicals or straighteners,” she said. “It’s just my natural texture, and I wear it in a normal-looking puff.” Now she wonders, as some other black women evidently do, whether the Transportation Security Administration also has a thing about their hair. Ms. Nance is the second black woman I’m aware of within a month who says she was racially profiled when a T.S.A. officer insisted on publicly patting down her hair after she had already gone though a full-body scan without setting off any alarm. Ms. Nance was departing from the airport in San Antonio in late July. After she passed through the body scanner, she said, a female T.S.A. screener told her to stand facing her possessions. “You’re good to go, but first I have to pat your hair,” the officer told her, she said. “I’m like, pat my hair? O.K., I guess,” Ms. Nance said. But it wasn’t O.K. Ms. Nance, who had been visiting her husband at the Air Force base where he is stationed, was deeply embarrassed as other passengers stared at her, “as if I’d done something wrong.” She asked the screener why her hair was searched while others, including white women with ponytails or bushy hair, were simply waved through. “Is it just African-American women with natural hair who get the hair search?” she asked. The screener said no, “but if you have certain kinds of ponytail or bun, you have to get your hair patted,” said Ms. Nance, who is 30. “More black women are wearing their hair in a natural state,” she said. “It’s becoming more of the norm in business cities, for example. On the other hand, for black women, it’s been 40 or 50 years of needing to relax and straighten your hair, wearing weaves, things like that.” In other words, black women who choose to maintain their hair naturally can get some cultural pushback — including even from other African-American women who choose otherwise. In fact, Web sites like Nappturality.com, are popular among black women who share a sense of community, and some defensiveness, about wearing natural hair. Also, it seems that some women of all races are fascinated by natural hairstyles worn by black women and like to touch it. “Sometimes you feel like a circus act when your hair is in its natural state and people always come up to you and say, ‘Can I touch it? Oh, it’s a lot softer than it looks!’ ” Ms. Nance said. I asked around about this. Some young black women my wife and I know, including college students, readily agree that natural hair is a delicate issue. “Do not touch unless specifically requested!” one said firmly. We also have a friend, a white woman in her 30s who is a frequent international business traveler. She has a noteworthy mane of bouncy, curly brunette hair tumbling to her shoulders. “Do they ever ask to pat your hair down?” I asked her. “Never!” she said. So, have we now possibly isolated the problem? The T.S.A. goes to lengths to be culturally and even politically aware. Those with medical needs, for example, can bring on extra liquids and gels. Military personnel in uniform can pass through security without having to remove their shoes. Increasingly, the T.S.A. talks about a “multilevel” approach to security that adds better intelligence work, behavioral detection and more common sense to the checkpoint procedures, some of which have been derided as unnecessary “security theater.” Ms. Nance says she filed an online complaint but has not heard back from the agency. Natural ladies, have you ever been subjected to such TSA hair pat downs??? Source

Diddy Wants Machine Gun Kelly To Stay ‘True To Himself’

‘This kid, I think he’s a star,’ Diddy tells Sway on MTV News’ ‘RapFix Live.’ By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Diddy and Machine Gun Kelly Photo: MTV News Diddy ‘s ear for talent is unquestionable. After playing an instrumental role in the careers of Jodeci and Mary J. Blige , the Bad Boy founder went on to discover the Notorious B.I.G. , Mase, 112 and Faith Evans. His newest signee may not fit the Bad Boy mold, but Diddy is excited nonetheless — so excited that he Skyped into “RapFix Live” while on vacation in Spain to chat it up with Sway about his newest artist, Machine Gun Kelly . “Yes, I signed MGK,” Diddy confirmed. “This kid, I think he’s a star. He’s one of the best live performers I’ve ever seen to come out in a minute.” Influenced by DMX , Cleveland, Ohio’s Machine Gun Kelly began battle-rapping around 2004 while he was still in high school. His passion grew from the corner ciphers to the studio, where he would lay tracks for his 2006 mixtape, Stamp of Approval. Back then, the MC (who got the Machine Gun part of his moniker because of his rapid-fire raps) was just getting his feet wet. In 2010, MGK would drop two tapes, 100 Words and Runnin’ and his breakthrough Lace Up. From there, the energetic spitter would develop his following thanks to his spirited live performance. The hip-hop mogul marveled at the existing fanbase Kelly had before even signing the deal. “He has just such a movement, just hundreds and thousands of loyal fans that came from the place he came from in different parts of the country,” Diddy gushed. “He wasn’t always the coolest kid in school, and just the process of growing up and the problems that they all encounter, they relate to him in such a way.” On the surface, MGK may not fit what many would perceive as the Bad Boy mold. He is a white, skinny, tatted-up kid from Cleveland who is influenced by punk music just as much as he is influenced by rap. For Combs, it’s a non-issue. “One of the things as an executive and someone that runs a record company is that I change so much as far as my respect for artists whether they succeed or fail. I think it’s important to empower the artist,” he said. “He will not be changing for Bad Boy; he will not have a typical Bad Boy swag. He’s not going to be popping champagne or driving around in Bentleys. He’s gonna be him and true to himself. He has a lot of creative control in his project.” Kelly, who recently graduated from sleeping on a futon to a mattress in his manager’s mother’s house, agrees. He assured his fans that he won’t be changing his lifestyle very much. “We’re kind of all about that ‘I don’t like to look better than my fans,’ so maybe one day I’ll change, but I pray to God I just stay the same,” he said. “We had a bidding war before he came in, but Puff is Puff,” MGK said. “Honestly, I really want to treasure this almost-famous stage as much as we can, while we still can. It’s crazy, because Ohio is one thing; we have this great hometown love. We’ll do 4,000 in one show, but then we just did Texas and it was probably 60 to 100 people, still doin’ holes in the wall, and it’s so cool.” He won’t be doing those venues much longer. MGK confirmed that he signed a two-album deal with Bad Boy and will be dropping his debut album, also called Lace Up, in the first quarter of 2012. “No push-backs with us, baby,” he bragged. “Not happening. The fans are not allowing that to go down.” Have you checked out Machine Gun Kelly’s music? Share your thoughts in the comments! Kings Of Leon Reschedule Show After Caleb Followill’s ‘Heat Exhaustion’

Announcement came after Friday show was cut short when Followill abruptly left the stage. By James Montgomery Kings of Leon’s Caleb Followill (file) Photo: Theo Wargo/ Getty Images The Kings of Leon were forced to bring a Friday-night show in Dallas to an abrupt end after frontman Caleb Followill complained of voice problems and then told the crowd at the Gexa Energy Pavilion, “I’m gonna go backstage and I’m gonna vomit. I’m gonna drink a beer and I’m gonna come back out and play three more songs.” Followill then left the stage and never returned, leading his bandmates to apologize to the crowd, saying, “Caleb’s just a little unfit to play the rest of the show. … It’s really not our fault, it’s Caleb.” Immediately following the incident, KOL bassist Jared Followill took to his Twitter account to further apologize and hinted at a growing strife within the band, writing, “There are internal sicknesses & problems that have needed to be addressed … I can’t lie. There are problems in our band bigger than not drinking enough Gatorade.” In YouTube footage of the Friday show, Caleb Followill is seen engaging the crowd in several lengthy diatribes, urging them to help him sing the words because his voice was “100 percent gone,” and adding, “I’m gonna drink some beer and I’m gonna drink some tequila and I’m gonna have a f—ing good time.” He also made repeated references to the heat, saying, “Just for the record, I’m not drunk, I’m just f—ing hot. … I’m about to fall down over here, because I’m so daggum hot.” In the aftermath of the Dallas show, the band announced they were postponing a Saturday concert at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in Houston, claiming that Followill was suffering from “heat exhaustion and dehydration … [which caused] his vocal chords to seize.” The Houston show was rescheduled for September 22, and the band said they would return to Dallas on September 21 and that all tickets from the aborted show would be honored. “Kings of Leon apologize to their fans for any inconvenience this may have caused and look forward to seeing their fans again in September,” the statement concluded. There’s no word on whether the band’s Tuesday show in Tampa would go on as scheduled. A spokesperson for the band did not have any additional comment when contacted by MTV News.
