Up & Coming Singer Wants To Bring Real R&B Back Ran Christian channels a James Bond theme in the video for his new single, “Dead or Alive.” The Harlem native said the song – produced by French Montana’s producer Rick Steel – is about someone wanting another person so badly that they’ll take them any way they can. “The concept of the video was a James Bond theme,” Christian told BOSSIP. “It’s really simple and not too much scenery…It was a great vibe, and we wanted to try something different.” Christian, 27, said he grew up listening to Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, Dave Hollister and Usher, and he said he wanted to bring some of that old school feel into his own music. “I see so many artists come in, a lot of artists that come out, and everything is kind of sounding the same,” Christian said. “I’m not afraid to try new things, and that old sound…I want to bring that sound back.” “Dead or Alive” is on his mixtape “Made in Harlem” on datpiff.com, and he said he plans to drop an EP this summer.

Many were suspecting that Nicki had nada to clap back with , nor did she want Remy to drop this barrage of receipts she says she has, nor is she un-booked enough to craft a response to Remy’s soul-snatching diss track. Tuennerman, founder of Tales of the Cocktail And Husband Paul In Blackface Incident A New Orleans couple who founded a major cocktail conference has plunged themselves into a racial firestorm after the husband posted a picture of his wife clad in blackface and an afro. In now deleted Facebook posts, Paul Tuennerman last week uploaded a video of his wife in blackface and an afro with the caption, “As he said ‘Throw a little Black Face on and you lose all your Media Skills.’ He did his best as the Interviewer.” The Tuennerman’s founded Tales of the Cocktail, a mixology conference that draws some 15,000 to 20,000 bartenders and mixologists from around the world, and pulls in millions a year in sales. Ann Tuennerman has since apologized, while her husband Paul resigned from Tales of the Cocktail last week, calling the blackface stunt “stupid,” and “was meant to be a husband’s innocent teasing of his camera-shy wife, not a belittlement of others.” But Joseph Solis, a mixologist for 15 years who works with Hennessy and founded the Sol Hospitality Group, said the blackface incident shows that there is a need for diversity and inclusion initiatives within the mixology and bartending industry. “I’ve been going there (Tales of the Cocktail) for years and I can’t count how many times I’ve been the only chocolate chip in the cookie,” Solis said. “I think it’s disgusting. I think it’s inappropriate and I think it’s inexcusable.” The blackface incident has also caused an uproar among bartenders of color around the country, many of whom said that they’ve been made to feel less than in the traditionally white male-dominated industry. New Kids On The Block Mourn Former Collaborator Tommy Page Sad news, especially for folks who grew up in the 90’s. Former pop star Tommy Page, whose song “I’ll be Your Everything” made it to #1 on the charts in 1990, has passed away, according to Page Six reports . Page’s body was discovered in New York Friday. He was only 46-years-old. Page’s post-pop star career included work as an executive at Warner Bros. Records where he worked with artists including Michael Buble, Alanis Morissette, Josh Groban and Green Day. He also became an associate publisher at Billboard magazine in 2011 and was promoted to publisher a year later. “We are all mourning the loss of our friend and colleague, Tommy Page,” Billboard Entertainment Group President John Amato said. “He was a magnetic soul and a true entertainer.” He was a senior vice president at Cumulus Media Inc. when he died, but previously led artist partnerships, branded content and events at Internet radio company Pandora. Son Of Boxing Great Muhammad Ali Detained By Immigration Over Muslim Name This is some real bullisht here. If you’re not already disgusted by Trump’s #MuslimBan this should definitely help you put things into perspective. Earlier this month, on Febrauary 7, Muhammad Ali Jr., the son of boxing great Muhammad Ali, and is mother Khalilah Camacho-Ali who was the boxer’s second wife were returning to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport after visiting Jamaica for a Black History Month speaking engagement in Montego Bay when customs officials pulled them aside because of their “Arabic-sounding” names. USA Today reports that the officials let Camacho-Ali go after she showed them a photo of herself and her former husband, but family lawyer Chris Mancini says Ali Jr. was held for almost two hours and repeatedly asked questions about his name including: “Where did you get your name from?” and “Are you Muslim?” After Ali Jr. responded that he is a Muslim, he continued to be barraged with questions about his religion and place of birth — stupid because they had his U.S. passport which lists Philadelphia as his birthplace. “The line of questioning is indicative of profiling and designed to produce answers that corroborate what officials want to hear,” Mancini said. Neither Camacho-Ali nor Ali Jr. have ever been subjected to detainment before, despite extensive global travel experience, he said. “To the Ali family, it’s crystal clear that this is directly linked to Mr. Trump’s efforts to ban Muslims from the United States,” Mancini said, referring to President Trump’s executive order signed Jan. 27 that instituted a ban for citizens of seven predominantly Muslim countries. Mancini said he and the Ali family are contemplating filing a federal lawsuit and are currently trying to find out how many other people have been subjected to the same treatment as Ali Jr. “Imagine walking into an airport and being asked about your religion,” he said. “This is classic customs profiling.” Just INSANE!!! The saddest detail Mancini added to the story is how Ali Jr.’s mother desperately ran around the airport while he was detained asking “Where’s my son?” and begging for help but local police were unable to intervene.
