‘Harry Potter’ star refers to 2011 as ‘not a breakout year, a breakaway year.’ By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Daniel Radcliffe Photo: MTV News After our nods to rising stars Elizabeth Olsen , Michael Fassbender and Tom Hiddleston , MTV Movies’ Thankful Week continues with — drum roll, please — the actor we’re most thankful for in 2011: Daniel Radcliffe. Really, what’s not to like about this talented young man? He’s dazzled audiences for more than a decade as “the boy who lived” in eight “Harry Potter” films and has most recently been the talk of the Great White Way with his critically acclaimed work in the musical “How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying.” We feel pretty confident in saying that the future looks bright for this guy. MTV News recently caught up with Radcliffe to get a sense of how he’s feeling post-Potter and where he wants to be in 10 years. MTV : This is your first full year working outside “Harry Potter.” How has it been? Daniel Radcliffe : It’s been a great first year away from “Potter.” It’s been very successful. I’ve done some work I’m really proud of in that time, particularly onstage in “How to Succeed.” Just the process of doing it and doing it and doing it, I’ve got so much better, I think, during the run, as is the way it should be. It’s been a great year, but I think next year is the big one for me. “The Woman in Black” is coming out, and I’ve also got a couple other things I’ll be doing. The next two or three years are going to be pretty important, I think, and if [2011] is not a breakout year, it’s a breakaway year. MTV : What was the highlight for you this year? Radcliffe : [Performing at] the Tony Awards, definitely. We were the first show to perform, and there is just that weird moment when you’re all standing there. I haven’t been that nervous in a long time. I don’t think I was as nervous on our opening night as I was at the Tonys. I was really, really nervous. Suddenly that huge LED screen goes up, and you’re all revealed like prizes on a game show, and Al Pacino is in the front row, sitting next to Bobby Cannavale, sitting next to Mark Rylance, all these brilliant actors, and you have to do your number. That’s probably a surreal, weird triumphant moment of that year, performing on the Tonys. That’s pretty cool. That’s something I will be able to tell my grandchildren that I did. MTV : What have you learned about yourself and your work abilities? Radcliffe : I think the most vital thing I’ve learned — and this is a thing I have to adapt and be able to find throughout my career, be it onstage or film in comedy or drama — is that the more I try and suppress my own natural oddness, the less successful I am. I have a slightly staccato way of moving and talking … the realization hit me that I’m working so hard to try and be something else, and actually, I just have to learn to be my most natural self onstage or onscreen, however that comes across. That is one of the biggest lessons there is: Don’t shy away from your own weirdness. Own your oddness. MTV : Would you consider taking a role in a movie musical? Radcliffe : Yeah, definitely. My hesitation about doing this one [“How to Succeed”] is that I’ve played parts for a long time, and I’ll have spent a long time with this, and I want my career to be about getting as many different characters under my belt as I possibly can. But yeah, I would love to, provided it was the right one, because they can go wrong. They can go spectacularly wrong, so we’ll see. MTV : Looking back at “Potter” and going through the huge promotional push surrounding the final film, was any of that surprising in any way even though you’d been through it so many times before? Radcliffe : It’s always what it is. I have a slight tendency when you’re doing these insane press days where you do a few interviews then the red carpet and it’s just mad, I have a slight tendency to shut down and go on autopilot just to get through it and not feel completely weirded out by the whole thing. What was strange to me was, in a way I felt slightly bad because I wasn’t getting upset like everyone else was. I’ve seen Rupert Grint cry once, on the last day of filming, when I was also in bits, but I’ve never seen Rupert get emotional like he did at the premiere … I cannot go on enough about how much I loved my time on “Potter.” It was the most amazing, happy time, but all good things must come to an end. We couldn’t have gone on forever. As much as people wanted us to, it would have been terrible. I’m glad to have done it and gone out on such a high note and now be moving on as we all are. MTV : Do you hope you’ll continue to have a relationship with J.K. Rowling? Radcliffe : I hope so, yeah, I really hope so. For somebody that was indirectly and directly such a huge influence on my life, I really hope so. I don’t know if she’s going to write anything else about Harry, but maybe I could direct something in years to come or something; we know each other. MTV : Looking ahead 10 years, what do you hope to be doing, best and worst case scenario? Radcliffe : My worst nightmare is that in 10 years, I will be not working and not doing anything. Even if in five years time I decide to leave the film industry and go off and become an archaeologist, even if I’m doing that, that’s great, fine. Best-case scenario is that in 10 years time, I’ll have got a good few films under my belt, I don’t know how many that would be … suppose we did eight “Potter” movies in 10 [years]; double that, maybe 16? Who knows. Hopefully I’ll do a few films with very different parts, very different directors, and ideally, I would have liked to direct something by then; that’s the ambition. I do feel having spent so much time on a film set, I would have a very good idea of how to run a film set, how to lead that set and, I don’t know, I love telling stories, so I would like that as a job. Big sister Kim looks on as Rob tops the leaderboard, with J.R. Martinez and Ricki Lake falling short of the reality star. By Kelley L. Carter Rob Kardashian on “Dancing With the Stars” Photo: ABC The talk-show host. The reality star. The war hero. Only one will be crowned the winner on Tuesday’s (November 22) “Dancing With the Stars” season finale, but you better believe Ricki Lake, Rob Kardashian and J.R. Martinez are hoping their dance moves win over America’s heart. On Monday night, they performed two dances each — the second was a freestyle dance — and the judges loved what Kardashian brought to the table. After weeks of seeing everyone else nab the highest scores, it was the reality star who brought home the top spot on the leaderboard. Here’s how everyone fared: Ricki Lake and Derek Hough Lake, the sole remaining woman in the competition, went first, dancing the cha-cha to Chris Brown’s “Yeah 3x,” and the judges loved it, telling her she was living the dance and exuding confidence. “Action-packed performance. Good timing. Good rhythm. Hips were working good. It’s a dance deserving of this final. Well done,” hard-to-please judge Len Goodman told her. 27/30 When Lake came back for her freestyle, she burst through a screen (of her larger self from earlier in the season; since being on the show she’s shed quite a bit of weight), and they shimmied and flipped and twisted and turned all about the stage. The judges said their dance was demanding and difficult. “It was fun, it was entertaining. Overall, what a great number,” Goodman said. 27/30 Lake’s overall score: 54/60 Rob Kardashian and Cheryl Burke The reality star —whose big sister Kim watched from the audience for the first time since her divorce — danced the waltz, and the judges found his movements to be a little heavy and said he lost his posture at times. Carrie Ann Inaba said he was the male version of Cinderella. Overall, they thought it was simple and beautiful. “Tonight, you were flowing and you were glowing. So full of expression. I love the continuity of lines,” judge Bruno Tonioli said. 27/30 For their second dance of the night, Kardashian and Burke danced on a set that mirrored Harlem, New York’s Cotton Club, and Cheryl said she wanted to play to Rob’s strengths. That meant their dance started off slow and then kicked up a notch and finished fast. The judges said their dance blew them all away. “Brilliant contact! Brilliant execution! Brilliant performance!” Tonioli yelled. 30/30 Kardashian’s overall score: 57/60 J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff For much of the season, he’s topped the leaderboard — or at least been close — until last week. His ankle was injured, but he danced in spite of it, and his scores suffered. For his cha-cha on Monday, his ankle was in much better shape, but the judges said Martinez was off-time and there were many mistakes. Tonioli was the lone judge who gave him praise. Carrie Ann Inaba offered: “I think when people watch you dance, they just fall in love with your spirit. Tonight, your musicality was a bit off. We’re in the finals, so watch your arms. I know you’ve got it in you.” 24/30 Martinez performed the final freestyle of the night, and they went with a Latin-inspired routine to pay homage to his Latin heritage. The judges said this time around, he redeemed himself. They said his dance was hypnotic and found it to be an incredible comeback from his first-round routine. “That’s the way to come back! Those lifts were the sickest lifts I’ve ever seen — congratulations!” Inaba cheered. 30/30 Martinez’s overall score: 54/60 Who had your favorite dance of the finals? Let us know in the comments!
‘He’s a great actor,’ director David Cronenberg tells MTV News. ‘It’s obvious in the movie.’ By Kevin P. Sullivan, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Robert Pattinson and Sarah Gadon in “Cosmopolis” Photo: Caitlin Cronenberg’s Twitter The infamous birth scene in “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” may have drawn comparisons to the work of director David Cronenberg , but star Robert Pattinson got to work with the auteur for real in the upcoming “Cosmopolis,” an adaptation of the novel by Don DeLillo. The role represents a dynamic shift from the character fans around the world know Pattinson for, Edward Cullen, but Cronenberg, when he spoke with MTV News’ Josh Horowitz, explained that the choice was nothing more than the normal casting process. “You start with the basics. How old is he? What does he look like? Is the character very nerdy? Is he handsome and devilish?” Cronenberg said. “Is he an intellectual? You think about all these things and you think about the actors who could possibly project the things that you need from this character.” Once Cronenberg had a list of potential candidates for the “Ulysses”-inspired protagonist, Eric Packer, it is important to consider a star’s profile in order to get the proper funding for the film. Cronenberg said that it takes an actor with a name like Pattinson to get his movies made. After judging Pattinson’s interest in the project and working around his schedule, it was clear to Cronenberg that he was the man for the job. “Ultimately, I felt he was the guy. Once again, intuition,” he said. “I saw his movies, including ones maybe his Twi-Hard fans don’t know about, like ‘Little Ashes.’ Maybe they saw ‘Remember Me,’ I’m not sure.” As for Pattinson’s “Twilight” reputation, it’s something Cronenberg acknowledges. “I can’t pretend that I’m not aware of that. This is an unusual jump for him. He said it himself. It’s scary,” Cronenberg said, adding that it’s the scary part of it that makes it worthwhile. “It’s a scary thing because he’s never really had to carry a movie quite that way before, totally on his own,” he said. “He’s in every scene. He’s almost in every shot, so scary for him, but for an actor, scary is good. You don’t want to be bored. You don’t want to be too confident.” The question that will be on everyone’s minds who goes to see the film may ultimately be, “Can the ‘Twilight’ kid actually act?” Cronenberg was quick to cast any doubt aside. “Really, he’s fantastic. He’s sensational,” he said. “Really, I’m telling you. He’s a great actor. It’s obvious in the movie. It’s not like maybe yes, maybe no. It’s obvious.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Cosmopolis.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .
C’mon son. Does this even LOOK like a doctor to you? Oneal Ron Morris is accused of gaffling some desperate for cakes individual into paying $700 to for fake butt injections that almost killed them. To top it off she was actually born a HE. A ‘fake doctor’ suspected of injecting a woman’s bottom with cement, super glue and tire sealant to give her a more ‘shapely’ rear has been arrested. Transgendered woman Oneal Ron Morris, who by his own picture appears to have undergone the ‘butt-boosting’ procedure himself, is accused of administering the potentially lethal shots to at least one victim. The 30-year-old, who police say is a man but appears to look like a woman, was detained in Florida yesterday for the alleged incident in May 2010. Miami Gardens Police Department Sgt William Bamford said Morris first met with the as-yet unidentified victim to discuss the procedure. He said: ‘They agreed on the price of $700, which was intended for cosmetic purposes.’ But instead, police say the victim was given a series of injections containing cement, mineral oil and Fix-A-Flat tire inflator and sealant. The incision was sealed with super glue. Shortly after the surgery was carried out, she went on to suffer ‘severe complications’. Bamford told WPLG: ‘A short time later, she develops very serious pains, abdomen, throughout her body. She knows something is wrong.’ He said the woman visited two local hospitals, before heading to Tampa General Hospital, where she received treatment. She had developed an infection of drug-resistant bug MRSA at the wound and also developed pneumonia, but refused to reveal how it had happened. Doctors at the hospital, worried it was the work of an unlicensed practitioner, reported the case to the Florida Department of Health. But by the time they started to investigate, the victim had left the area. Morris was eventually arrested in North Lauderdale in March 2011. He has been charged with practicing medicine without a license and causing bodily harm. The alleged incident is the latest in a long line of instances where women have suffered complications following illegal bottom enhancement procedures. $700 is a lot of money to pay someone to practically kill you. Why on earth would anyone pay this kind of money to take a risk with someone unlicensed? It can’t possibly cost that much more to go to a real doctor’s office and get knifed up by a licensed professional. Keep reading for the video and more photos…
So for those of you who aren’t Nascar Fans, Jeff Gordon is Nascard driver and Ingrid Vandebosch is his wife….She’s 41. She was a model from Belgium who only made it into SI in 2008 after marrying an athlete…but who did other work…I’m just not sure what caliber of work and I’m not gonna bother looking for the titty pics…that I can only assume exist from back then….cuz that’s what modeling is about…it is a soft sell, easier way to convince girls to get naked for money, by disguising it as fashion and art…. Who cares, here she is a mom of 2 in a one-piece…cuz she knows she’s 41 and not what she once was before being a mom of 2.
‘All his verses on the album, it sounds like you’re getting smacked upside the head,’ producer tells Mixtape Daily. By Rob Markman Nas Photo: MTV News Behind the Beats: Salaam Remi Salaam Remi and Nas didn’t start out as buddies, but some things are just meant to be. By the time Nas was putting out his classic rap LP Illmatic, Salaam was separately making his mark, already having produced for seminal hip-hop star Kurtis Blow at the age of 14. Though they hailed from the same Queens, New York, neighborhood and ran in similar circles, Nas and Salaam didn’t hook up until 2001, when Nas requested a beat from Remi for his Stillmatic LP. Now, 10 years later, he and Nas are still at it, working on God’s Son’s upcoming 10th solo studio album. “Life is different, and at this point, life is good and dudes is looking younger now than they did when they were 25,” Remi told Mixtape Daily. “So he’s just in that rare form.” It’s surprising that they didn’t hook up sooner, but after going through a small spat with one of Nas’ mentors, Large Professor, Remi never got the chance to really get to know Nas earlier. But a 2001 chance meeting in L.A. led to one of hip-hop’s most organic partnerships. “I created the track for ‘What Goes Around (Poison),’ and I sent it to him,” Remi recalled. “And when I sent it to him, at the end of the day, we’re in the same neighborhood.” Remi’s discography is long and diverse. In 1991, he worked alongside Marley Marl on Craig G’s Now, That’s More Like It album, and three years later, he produced Ini Kamoze’s reggae hit “Here Comes the Hotstepper.” Salaam, however, is most known for producing the Fugees’ 1996 smash single “Fu-Gee-La” from their Grammy-winning The Score LP. Then, of course, there is his work with Amy Winehouse on her 2006 breakout, Back to Black. Since hooking up, Salaam has been responsible for a number of Nas bangers: 2003’s “Made You Look” was noted for its authentic New York feel, while the uplifting “I Can” sampled its drums from the Honeydrippers’ “Impeach the President,” one of the most recognizable samples in hip-hop. In 2004, Remi crafted “Thief’s Theme” and Nas’ collaboration with his dad, “Bridging the Gap” More recently, the two have come up with the gritty “Nasty,” the first single from the Queens rap legend’s upcoming album. On the boom-bap-inspired track, Nas chooses to bypass any notions of going pop, instead setting his sets on hip-hop’s underground. It’s a welcomed departure from the hip-hop that occupies top 40 radio these days, but Salaam promised that the sound on Esco’s next album will be diverse. “Musically, I have an array of records,” he said. “You got some ‘Nasty’-type stuff, you have stuff that’s in the middle, up, down. I have all types of stuff. Just at the end of the day, we have to see what feels right for that package of 10 to 12 songs, because it’s way more songs.” The expectations for this new Nas album are high, and Remi assured fans that his friend will deliver. “He sounds like he’s on his A-game writing,” he said. “All his features at this point, all his verses on the album, it sounds like you’re getting smacked upside the head. As much as ‘Nasty’ has that type of beat, it’s really him on the beat that’s making it connect all the way.” For other artists featured in Mixtape Daily, check out Mixtape Daily Headlines . When news broke that Lady Gaga and her creative director, Laurieann Gibson , had split, everyone immediately wondered what had happened between Gaga and her right-hand woman . Gibson has remained relatively quiet about the split, but in a new statement to The Hollywood Reporter, she opens up a bit more about the breakup, clarifying that she was not fired from the Haus but left on her own. She added that Gaga wanted to take the reins when it came to her career. “I am fulfilled with the work I have done with choreographing all of the iconic moves, creative directing the artist, appearances, shows, directing the tour, music videos, and the HBO Monster Ball [special], which was a culmination of my work as its creator and director,” Gibson said about the five years she spent working with Gaga . “Recently, Lady Gaga was motivated to take the helm of the creative direction of her career and as such I decided to step away.” Gibson, who currently serves as the in-house creative director at Interscope Records (where Gaga is signed) and has starred in two of her own reality shows (the BET dance-competition show “Born to Dance” and another dance reality series, E!’s “The Dance Scene”), is now focused on expanding her brand with other artists and in new ways. “I am extremely proud of her, and in stepping away I wish her all the best,” she said of the pop star. “I look forward to continuing my work with notable artists, as well as new artists that are part of my Interscope Records deal, and the upcoming seasons of my TV shows.” Related Videos MTV News Extended Play: Lady Gaga Creative Director Laurieann Gibson Related Artists Lady Gaga

Even though you may not immediately recognize the name Warwick Davis, you are familiar with his work. That’s because the English actor has been involved with two of the most storied franchises in all of film history — the first being Star Wars , where Davis made his onscreen debut as Wicket in Return of the Jedi at the tender age of 13. Nearly three decades (and title roles in Willow and the six-part Leprechaun series) later, Davis helps close the door on the Harry Potter franchise, where he has played Hogwarts charms master Professor Flitwick and Gringotts goblin Griphook for 10 years.
