Ashton Kutcher in New Nikon Ad: Come Hither, Ladies!

Art meets reality in a new ad for Nikon. Or maybe it’s the other way around. Either way: Ashton Kutcher is a dog! While details of his alleged affair with Sara Leal continue to leak out, highlighted by the rumor that he spent time in a hot tub and a hotel room with this 22-year old and a few other women, the latest commercial for this camera company features Kutcher… a hotel room… and various women! The spot was filmed long before Ashton’s supposed infidelity took place, but still. Talk about prescient, and sort of questionable. Should Nikon remove the ads, which are getting heavy play during the World Series? Why would anyone purchase a product from Kutcher these days, especially one pitched in such an eerily realistic manner? Ashton Kutcher Nikon Ad

‘In Short, Catching Hell is a Horror Film’

In addition, that is, to an exceptional Alex Gibney documentary premiering tonight on ESPN : “How could the Cubs, up 3-0 and five outs away from the World Series, manage to lose 8-3? Did the players feel the expectation and the dread of its upending and so fulfill their fans’ darkest fears? And why was it that once that game six was lost, most of the fans in Wrigley — and even some of the players, as it turns out — were certain that they would lose the next day, as if the fates had decided to twist the knife in their wound?” [ Grantland ]

Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell Officially Over

Policy requiring gay and lesbian service members to keep their orientation secret was officially repealed Tuesday. By Gil Kaufman Photo: Sandy Huffaker/Getty Images It took a little longer than planned, but Tuesday (September 20) marks the official end of the U.S. military’s controversial “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy. The 1993 law that allowed gays and lesbians to serve in the armed forces as long as they kept their orientation secret officially went off the books as of 12:01 a.m. EDT, putting an end to a rule that drew fire from scores of gay activists and supporters over the years, including Lady Gaga and Katy Perry . While some in Congress have said they oppose the ruling, CBS News reported that top leaders in the Pentagon have expressed confidence that the change will not undermine the military’s ability to recruit or fight wars and will not have a negative impact on troop morale. “The law is repealed,” the Army announced plainly in a statement, which included a reminder to soldiers to treat each other fairly and with respect. The White House sent out an official tweet with the news as well, which read, “As of 12:01 a.m., the repeal of the discriminatory law known as ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ finally & formally takes effect.” As of last week, the Pentagon said 97 percent of the military had already undergone training under the new law and the armed services have been accepting applications from openly gay recruits for weeks. Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton celebrated with a tweet early Tuesday morning, writing, “R.I.P. #DADT. And good riddance!” Gaga, who arrived at the 2010 MTV VMAs with openly gay service members who had been discharged or left the military due to the policy, made viral videos and spoke at a September 2010 rally calling for the end of DADT, tweeted her emotional reaction to the repeal last year. “Can’t hold back the tears+pride. We did it! Our voice was heard + today the Senate REPEALED DADT. A triumph for equality after 17 YEARS,” she wrote back on December 18 when the Senate voted to officially repeal the measure.

Nirvana’s Nevermind 20 Years Later: Forever Changes

Can the album that changed everything change it again? Bigger Than the Sound looks back. By James Montgomery Kurt Cobain Photo: Frank Micelotta/Getty Images Here’s an abbreviated list of everything that’s happened in my life in the 20 years since Nirvana ‘s Nevermind was released : graduated middle school, started wearing thrift-store corduroys, got my learner’s permit, lost my virginity, got my driver’s license, got in several accidents, named All-County keeper in the Central Florida High School Lacrosse League (two times), graduated high school, started smoking clove cigarettes, had an ill-fated long-distance relationship and an even iller-fated run in a community-college film program, moved out to attend “real college,” spent six years doing anything but , slept on a futon in Burbank, attempted to use a 9/11 to reconnect with my ex-girlfriend, experienced shame from that attempt, moved to New York City, had dark times (aside from the Red Sox ’04 and ’07 World Series wins), met a girl, fell in love, got engaged in Reykjavik, got married in Dublin, recently discovered small black hairs growing on my earlobes. Of course, reading back over all that, none of it makes me feel nearly as old as the fact that, on Saturday, Nevermind will officially turn 20. Because as a kid who was alive and kicking during that era when all of a sudden “Smells Like Teen Spirit” was everywhere and Nirvana were the biggest thing in the world (or at least the suburbs), I can tell you that it seemed impossible that this music would ever age; mostly because everything about it seemed so of the moment, so important, so young. That was, in part, due to everything Kurt Cobain was (unwillingly) on his way to becoming: an outsider icon, a generational symbol, maybe even a musical messiah. Like I wrote a few years back, on the 15th anniversary of Cobain’s death , he represented truth and the honor that came with never compromising. He had made it on his terms, and he was going to lift us all up with him. That’s the kind of stuff you believe in when you’re too young to know better. Mostly, it was because Nevermind ripped up the mainstream and instantaneously made everything else out there seem pass

If you’re a demeanor, there’s no room to question why so many people love him. CC is making his rounds as the spokesperson for the Pepsi MAX Field of Dreams campaign. Pepsi MAX is giving fans a chance to vote for their dream team of 11 legendary players. Each time a person votes, they will be entered to win a chance to play against the fan selected players on their home field. I ( @JaySpeakEasy ) had a chance to talk to the Yankee pitcher at the MLB Fan Cave. In our brief conversation, we talked about how the Yankee season is going so far, the toughest part of the game, and hip-hop. Let’s get right into it. How do you feel about the Yankees’ season thus far? I feel pretty good. We’ve been having a pretty good year. We’re in second place right now. I think we’ve been playing really well. We had a tough loss against the Angels, but we still have a chance to make the playoffs. So we’ll go from there. What are your thoughts on catcher, Jorge Posada, being benched? It’s tough, man. He’s a legend. He’s done a lot for this organization and a lot for this city. I think it is just tough to see somebody go through that. But Posada will be right back where he belongs soon enough. I’m confident in that. How would you like the Yankee season to end? Hopefully, we win the World Series. I mean, that’s why I came to New York because we have a chance of winning it every year. Everybody knows that. That’s pretty cool and a special feeling to have. How do you balance family with being on the road and traveling majority of the year? That is a hard thing to deal with during the season, but in the summertime, my kids are out of school. I get to hang out with them and spend the time they need when the summer hits. We do whatever we can on days I’m off. But it is part of the life. I get to come home for the off season and they have at home everyday for four months. I wouldn’t trade the time with my family for anything. I know you’re a big hip hop fan. Who is the rapper you would say most represents your pitching style? Rick Ross . I think he has the style and attitude are the representation of my pitching style. He is confident and headstrong. My feel like I pitch with a confidence. That’s why I have to go with Rick Ross on that one. Plus, I’m a huge fan of his. What albums are you listening to now? Well, you know Watch The Throne just dropped so I’m bumping that heavy. That’s really it. I’m not listening to anything else as of now. Jay-Z and Kanye West have a great album out. I’m definitely enjoying all of the tracks. I have no favorite yet. Well, thank you for speaking with me. I’m just going to need one favor from you. Speak to whoever you need to speak to, but the people in the bleacher seats are going to need some shade. It’s way too hot for that. [laughs] Oh, ya’ll a little hot over there? I’ll see what I can do. Lenny Dykstra Arrested For Embezzlement … From His Own Bankrupt Estate

Former baseball all-star Lenny Dykstra was arrested last night after being targeted by federal agents for embezzling more than $400,000 … from himself. According to the U.S. Attorney in L.A. … Lenny arrested by local authorities and later charged with one felony count of embezzling from a bankrupt estate. Officials claim Dykstra, who filed for bankruptcy in 2009, “stole and destroyed more than $400,000 worth of property in the estate.” That sounds illegal! Who embezzles stuff from himself while under federal surveillance? Dykstra is not legally allowed to sell off any of the items that make up the bankrupt estate. The property must only be used to pay off debts to creditors. All transactions must be initiated by a court-appointed trustee. Needless to say, if law enforcement personnel are to be believed, that did not occur here. According to the criminal complaint, Len loaded up a ton of his expensive personal items into a U-Haul truck and sold them to an L.A. consignment store. Basically, he’s shadier than Brooke Mueller at a pawn shop . Officials say Dykstra was also trying to discretely sell some of the estate’s property on eBay and Craigslist … including valuable sports memorabilia. Dykstra is also accused of ripping out a $50,000 sink from his $18 million L.A. area mansion and installing it in his office in Camarillo. Very subtle. What’s more, before Lenny was hit with embezzlement charges, he was arrested last night for purchasing vehicles through fraudulent means. Dykstra had been targeted by authorities in an ongoing investigation and is being held on $500,000 bail. He faces up to five years in prison. A three-time All-Star, Dykstra hit .285 career with 285 stolen bases and won the 1986 World Series as a member of the New York Mets. He later went on to achieve considerable success in the financial industry, but that apparently went downhill pretty hard in recent years.

Jay-Z’s Yankee Memorabilia Is A Home Run, Fans Say

‘The Yankees selling Jay-Z stuff is just the best of both worlds,’ one fan says of Hov endorsing limited-run apparel ahead of concerts with Eminem. By MTV News staff Jay-Z and Yankees merchandise at Yankee Stadium Photo: Rya Backer/ MTV News Jay-Z already has one clothing line in Rocawear, and now that the Brooklyn rapper has partnered with the Yankees to co-brand threads in anticipation of his and Eminem’s September concerts , does Hov have a new empire on his hands? Well, not quite, since the Jay-Z/Yankee pact is only for a limited time . But MTV News hit the Bronx to get the word on whether the partnership is a home run. “I thought it was pretty cool, I think it’s cool that he’s doing stuff with the Yankees,” Paulette Esparza told MTV News. “The design is cool.” The line features an array of T-shirts, jerseys with S. Carter and the number four printed on the back (Jay’s birthday is December 4) and a series of fitted hats, including an all-black Yankees cap with The Blueprint 3 insignia on the side. The memorabilia is on sale, only at Yankee Stadium, through September 14. Despite the limited run, interest in the items appears to be high. (It remained unclear at press time whether Eminem would strike a similar deal with his hometown Detroit Tigers baseball team.) “I really like the hat, the hat is pretty cool,” Lauren Mastroianni said while visiting the ballpark. “I was just about to say that,” her friend Mike Nalafronte chimed in about the fitted cap. “With the emblem on it, I like that.” The marriage between Jay-Z and the Yankees began last year as the storied baseball franchise marched toward the World Series, which they eventually captured over the Philadelphia Philles in six games last October. Jay’s “Empire State of Mind” (featuring Alicia Keys) became the unofficial anthem of the team after captain Derek Jeter used the track for his at-bat music. Jay-Z then performed the number with Alicia Keys before Game 2 in New York and later rode with the team during their championship parade. The song also became the rapper’s first Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper, and the Yankees earned their 27th championship. “The Yankees selling Jay-Z stuff is just the best of both worlds, isn’t it,” tourist Alex Matthewson noted. What do you think of Jay-Z teaming with the Yankees to make limited-run threads? Tell us in the comments! Related Photos Jay-Z And The Yankees Team-Up To Represent New York Related Artists Jay-Z
