MTV’s ‘Diary Of Facebook’ Takes You Inside The Social Phenomenon

We head to company headquarters for the real story behind founder Mark Zuckerberg’s social network in a doc airing on March 30 at 11 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. Who are the people working to keep your Facebook page not only up and running but constantly innovating and transforming? MTV’s ” Diary of Facebook ” — premiering March 30 at 11 p.m. ET/PT — goes deep inside the social network’s hyperkinetic Palo Alto headquarters to tell the story of what really goes on; you think you know, but you have no idea. The 30-minutes special features company founder Mark Zuckerberg giving insight into the company’s culture and evolution, as well as day-in-the-life journeys with a technical engineer named Pedram and a consumer-marketing employee named Erin, as they work to pioneer new applications and bring together users whose lives have been changed through the site. For the first time ever, we get an inside look at Facebook’s famous “hack-a-thon,” a 24-hour, no-code-barred event in which employees are directed to ditch their normal duties and instead break ground on those pet tech projects they’ve always wanted to create but have never found the time to pursue. Not only does Pedram innovate, he does so under-pressure, and overnight. And then there’s Erin, a driving force behind Stories.Facebook.com ‘s effort to highlight users’ life-changing, social-networking stories, from one woman’s quest to locate long-lost family members to an A.L.S.-stricken man who finds in Facebook a way to engage with the world around him despite the limitations of his disease. ‘Sucker Punch’ DVD Will Include R-Rated Footage, Zack Snyder Says

In case you haven’t already seen, heard or read enough about Zack Snyder’s action-adventure-fantasy “Sucker Punch,” MTV News has you covered. In addition to our catch-all guide to the film and secrets revealed , today we bring you more from Snyder regarding the highly technical aspects of the shoot, as well as what fans can expect on the DVD and Blu-ray. “The train sequences were the hardest technically to shoot only because it’s a sequence that’s broken up into maybe 120 shots that look like one shot,” Snyder revealed. “So you just kind of have to know where the camera’s going and where it came from, and put these little camera moves in, and all these shifts that have to happen,” he said. Snyder went on to say that he and his filmmaking team had the same sort of problems with the Samurai fight sequence, but they approached them differently. “It was a little easier to do, but the thing that challenged us there was, of course, the scale was crazy,” he said. “Ryan, who’s one of my stuntmen, he would stand on a big piece of scaffolding and he would fight Emily [Browning] with this long stick,” he explained. “Because she had to have an eye line to him up there. So he had this kind of flexible stick that he would try to hit her with.” Will we see any of that behind-the-scenes footage on the DVD? “Yeah, sure,” he said. “I think there is coverage of that.” Regarding what else will appear on the home-video-viewing versions of the film, Snyder teased that there will be a lot of action. “There is about 18 minutes in the Blu-ray that is mostly action, because the MPAA was not … [there was] a little too much action,” he said, adding that taking the film from an R-rating to PG-13 was also a challenge. “I would say that the very things that they [the MPAA] didn’t like were the very things that you needed to see in order for you to understand the content of the scene,” he said. “To know how to feel about it, because otherwise you’re sort of left in this weird middle ground,” he said. “So it’s difficult. A “Lil Positivity”: Nicki Minaj, Bey Bey, And Slim Shady Are All On Deck For “Songs For Japan” Charity Album

An all-star line-up of artists have contributed their works to aid the relief efforts for the victims of the disaster in Japan. Music from the hottest artists around has been compiled into Songs for Japan, an all-star album created to raise money for earthquake relief efforts. Available today on iTunes, the 38-track digital disc includes Nicki Minaj’s “Save Me,” Eminem’s “Love the Way you Lie (ft. Rihanna),” Beyoncé’s “Irreplaceable” and Cee Lo Green’s “It’s Okay.” The download is $9.99; a physical double disc will be released next month. The charity album is a joint effort between Universal Music Group, Sony Entertainment Music, Warner Music Group and EMI Music. More than 10,000 people have been declared dead, according to Japan’s National Police Agency. Proceeds from Songs for Japan will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross Society to assist survivors. Once the videos wrapped, the crowd went even crazier as the Femme Fatale herself hit the stage. Spears sported a stunning sequined bodysuit and performed her first song of the night, lead single “Hold It Against Me.” Flanked by sexy male dancers, she sashayed her way through the song, which included sexy hair-tossing and a wind machine. For her second track of the night, Spears debuted the will.i.am-produced track “Big Fat Bass.” Her dancers hit the stage in bright yellow, while Spears opted for a body-hugging latex bodysuit. She emerged from a speaker box, and the appearance had her fans screaming. The track was remixed to include past hits like “3,” “Slave 4 U” and “Gimme More.” She danced around the stage and climbed up on speakers as she danced to the track. Britney kicked it up a few futuristic notches for her latest club banger, “Till the World Ends.” The stage was filled with ladders, LED lighting, dancers and Spears in a black latex bodysuit covered in red lights. She clearly was having a good time, smiling to her fans. Her choreography was decidedly sexy, including flirty dance moves with her male dancers. At the end, Spears ascended the ladders and ended up on a platform, gyrating from above the room. As fireworks lit the stage, Spears danced and tossed her hair as the song closed. The room was filled with electricity and excitement. The performance was being taped by MTV for a special airing next week. Among the latest speculated additions to the TV singing competition’s coveted panel, which already includes music executive L.A. Reid, is Nicki Minaj . Speaking with XXLMag.com , Cowell addressed whispers that he met with hip-hop’s Harajuku Barbie about the reality show. While confirming that he did talk with Minaj, Cowell insisted that the duo spoke about a range of career ventures. “We spoke to Nicki actually about a lot of projects,” the British music mogul admitted. “It wasn’t specifically about this, but we were just very interested to meet her. I’m a big fan of hers. So I don’t know if it’s gonna be this show or something in the future, but it was definitely somebody I wanted to meet.” As for why the former “American Idol” judge was so persistent on a meeting with the Young Money MC, Cowell pointed to Minaj’s meteoric rise to success. “Off her own back she’s had a phenomenal year last year and she’s gonna have a phenomenal year this year,” he explained. “She’s very smart, very influential, very bright and along with artists like Jessie J. You can’t ignore them and sooner or later they have to be in our world and we have to be in their world.” Whether or not Minaj will make an appearance on “X Factor,” the talent aficionado said he is currently in talks with another hip-hop heavyweight about joining the forthcoming show, which debuts in September. Audition dates for the program begin on Sunday and continue on until late May. Cowell recently spoke to MTV News about what he’s looking for in an “X Factor” contestant. “I love unusual people. I always say, you’ve got to embrace the madness,” Cowell said with a laugh. “I like that we’re going to be very open-minded.
