Justin Bieber, Kim Kardashian Flirt On The Beach For Elle

The pop star and socialite channel ‘The Graduate’ for September issue. By James Dinh Kim Kardashian and Justin Bieber Photo: Larry Busacca/Getty Images When Justin Bieber referred to Kim Kardashian as his “girlfriend” in a tweet earlier this year, it was all in innocent fun. But his legion of Beliebers didn’t find it so amusing and retaliated by swarming the reality star with death threats. Now the pair are taking their new found friendship in front of the camera lens for a sunny, summer spread in the September issue of Elle. “Remember those paparazzi pics of me and

Fantasia Hospitalized After Apparent Suicide Attempt

Season-three ‘American Idol’ winner overdosed on medication, according to police report. By Kara Warner Fantasia Barrino Photo: Frederick M. Brown/Getty Images Season-three “American Idol” winner Fantasia Barrino has been hospitalized in North Carolina for a drug overdose after an apparent suicide attempt, WBTV reports. The CBS affiliate cites a police report filed with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg precinct, in which officers were notified late Monday evening by Barrino’s manager, Brian Dickens, that something was wrong with the former “Color Purple” star. According to the police sources, the officers who arrived on the scene reportedly found Barrino in the closet of a home in the Glynmoor Lakes neighborhood. The fomer “Idol” champ was immediately taken to Mercy South Hospital at Carolinas Medical Center in Pineville, North Carolina. The police report classified Burrino’s condition as a “suicide/overdose” and described Barrino as having suffered “possible internal injuries” after she ingested too much medication. The incident is said to be part of an ongoing investigation. A rep for Barrino did not respond to requests for comment at press time. Barrino was her usual sweet and spunky self when she talked to MTV News last month about the release of her video for “Bittersweet.” She spoke proudly of having taken control of creative and directorial decisions during the shoot and enjoying her handsome co-star, Washington Redskins wide receiver Devin Thomas. “I enjoyed myself, let’s just put it like that,” Burrino said. “I had a great time. … He was really nice, which made it a lot easier.” The 25-year-old’s post-“Idol” career has had its highs and lows. Burrino’s album sales have not met those of other “Idol” alumni, and in 2009, she battled rumors that her home was in foreclosure and Simon Cowell had to bail her out . However, her reality show, “Fantasia for Real,” which premiered earlier this year, was a hit for VH1, and a second season is scheduled to start September 19. Share your well-wishes for Fantasia and her family in the comments below.

T.I. Calls Kanye West Studio Sessions ‘Combustible’

‘Kanye, man, he’s a phenomenal talent,’ Tip says of King Uncaged collaborator. By Shaheem Reid Last week, T.I. revealed that he’s teamed up with another powerful collaborator for his next LP, King Uncaged. “I just left Hawaii with Kanye,” Tip revealed when we met up with him in Hollywood on the red carpet for the world premiere of “Takers.” “We did six records.” Over the weekend in Beverly Hills, where the Atlanta MC continued to promote his film — due in theaters August 27 — Tip elaborated a little bit more on his sessions with one of the great producers and MCs in music. The King of the South said he’s anxious for the world to hear his new records. “Well, Kanye, man, he’s a phenomenal talent,” Tip said. “It goes without saying that it’s combustible energy [when we’re in the studio]. I’m excited to present it.” Back in June, T.I. lavished similar praise on another artist appearing on his September opus: Lady Gaga . “She’s a phenomenal talent, and I think that talent transcends through all genres, all races, all religions, all countries,” he complimented. Although no final track listing has been announced, judging by the preliminary round of interviews alone, the album sounds like it could be Tip’s biggest yet. Swizz Beatz, Timbaland and Eminem are also among those who’ve had sessions with him. “I reached out to Em,” Tip explained in May. “My management reached out to his management, just in hopes of getting him on a record. Em personally reached out to me, and we been speaking ever since, especially since I went through my situation [with having to go to prison]. [He would] just kinda remind me that ‘I’ve been through dark period in my life too. You’re gonna make it. You’re one of the ones we need, so you’re gonna make it. Stand tall and walk the walk.’ He just made it a point to always reassure me of the spot that I hold in this thing that we got called hip-hop. It was incredibly helpful. It was incredibly noble of him, in my eyes, to even take the time out to reach out to me.” Do you think Tip’s next album will be his biggest yet? Sound off in the comments! Related Artists T.I. 5 Other Films Whose Viral Marketing Should Hijack the News

Michael Cera and Jason Schwartzman took the promotional TV news segment to the next level this week, filling in a whole weathercast in Atlanta for the sake of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World . It was entertaining (watch out for the bus!), but not necessarily the best tie-in between the film’s audience and the information at hand. Thus the crack news producers at Movieline HQ have had a look at the late-summer/early-fall movie slate and worked out a whole newscast just for the studios. Suggestions (and the original video) are after the jump.

CNN’s Fareed Zakaria Returns ADL Award in Protest to Position on Ground Zero Mosque

At the top of his eponymous program yesterday, CNN’s Fareed Zakaria took drastic action to protest the Anti-Defamation League’s opposition to the proposed Ground Zero mosque. Zakaria, who was honored by the ADL in 2005 with the Hubert H. Humphrey First Amendment Freedoms Prize, gave back his award because he was “deeply saddened” by the group’s respect for the families of 9/11 victims who oppose the construction of a mosque just two blocks from Ground Zero. “Given the position that they have taken on a core issue of religious freedom in America, I cannot in good conscience keep that award,” lamented Zakaria, who hoped that distancing himself from the ADL would compel the organization to realize its “mistake” and reverse its position. In his lengthy monologue, Zakaria vigorously defended Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf’s constitutional right to erect the mosque: “If this community center were being built anywhere else in the world, chances are the U.S. government would be funding it.” While Zakaria was correct to point out that strengthening ties between moderate Muslims and non-Muslims is a central focus of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, he failed to realize the reason so many Americans oppose the construction of a mosque so close to Ground Zero is precisely because of its proximity to the 9/11 attacks committed by Islamic radicals. Displaying stock footage of former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich speaking at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference earlier in the year, Zakaria condemned “politicians who have shamelessly and shamefully capitalized on the public’s wariness” about the construction of a mosque near Ground Zero. Zakaria, eager to omit the most controversial details of the proposed construction project, uttered the word “mosque” only once is his screed, preferring the innocuous term “community center.” The Newsweek columnist proceeded to paradoxically bemoan the “disinformation about this center.”                                      A full transcript of “Fareed’s Take” on the August 8 “Fareed Zakaria GPS” can be found below: You know that ever since 9/11, the United States has been trying to engage in a battle of ideas against radical Islam. Now, America can’t really get involved in a debate within Islam, so that means finding and supporting moderate Muslims. This is a cultural struggle that has been warmly supported by liberals and conservatives. In fact, many conservatives have argued that we should be engaged in a much more extensive and expensive effort to fund moderates and de-legitimize radical and violent Islam. Under both the Bush and Obama administrations, there have been active efforts worldwide to support Muslims who are trying to rescue their religion from extremists, fundamentalists, and jihadists. And this has meant funding mosques, Islamic centers, imams, and community leaders who share a peaceful and pluralistic vision of Islam, except, it turns out, if they are in our own back yard. The debate over the proposed community center to be built a few blocks away from the World Trade Center has missed this fundamentally important point. If this community center were being built anywhere else in the world, chances are the U.S. government would be funding it. The man behind it, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, has spent years trying to offer a liberal interpretation of Islam. His most recent book, “What’s Right With Islam is What’s Right With America,” argues that America is actually what an ideal Islamic society would look like because it is peaceful, tolerant, and pluralistic. His vision for Islam, in other words, is Osama bin Laden’s nightmare – we should be encouraging such an Islamic center, not demonizing it. Now, there is of course the much more fundamental issue, freedom of religion in America, which is a founding principle of this country. The most eloquent and intelligent defense of that principle came last week from New York’s mayor, Michael Bloomberg, in an address that should be required reading in every civics class in America. There have, on the other hand, been politicians who have shamelessly and shamefully capitalized on the public’s wariness. The public is wary understandably because there has been so much disinformation about this center. But perhaps the most puzzling stand was taken by the Anti- Defamation League, which was founded to support the freedom of religion. The director of the ADL, Abraham Foxman, explained that the victims of 9/11 had feelings on this matter that should be respected even if they were irrational. First of all, there were many dozens of victims of 9/11 who were Muslim. Do their feelings count? More important, are irrational feelings, prejudices, hatreds OK because those expressing them are victims or see themselves as victims? Will the ADL defend the rights of Palestinian “victims” to be anti-Semites? I have to say I was personally deeply saddened by the ADL’s stand, because five years ago the organization honored me with its Hubert Humphrey Award for First Amendment freedoms. Given the position that they have taken on a core issue of religious freedom in America, I cannot in good conscience keep that award. So this week I’m going to return to the ADL the handsome medal and the generous honorarium that came with it. I hope this might spur them to see that they have made a mistake, and to return to their historic, robust defense of freedom of religion in America, something they have subscribed to for decades and which I honor them for.

Justin Bieber Discusses Importance Of Giving Back At Usher’s Charity Event

Teen star also recently signed on as spokesperson for Proactiv acne treatment. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by James ‘FLX’ Smith Usher and Justin Bieber at the World Leadership Awards on Friday Photo: Rick Diamond/ Getty Images Justin Bieber currently has a lot on his plate. He’s on tour. He’s working on a book and a movie . He’s prepping the release of his next single, “U Smile.” And he just wrapped shooting his cameo on “CSI.” But that doesn’t mean he isn’t taking time to give back. MTV News caught up with the teen star on Friday night at Usher’s New Look Foundation’s first World Leadership Awards in Atlanta. He was excited to use his celebrity to bring attention to the charity, as well his voice to bring some tunes to the party. “You know, I’m really excited to be here to support Usher, my mentor, and his New Look Foundation. I’m here [and] I’m performing tonight. I’m also helping out another charity,” he shared on the red carpet. “It’s called Pencils of Promise . It’s all about giving back and helping out kids that need education. It’s really important that I’m able to help out other kids. I’m a kid myself, so it means a lot to me.” While he tweeted his intention to release “U Smile” as a single very soon, at the event, he kept his plans rather vague. “Musically, the next thing you’re gonna hear from me is I might be putting out a single in the next couple months,” he said. “I’m always making hits.” Bieber also recently added a new job to his r

9/11 Truth Billboard in California

In what may be the first of it’s kind in the nation, a group of 9/11 Truth activists organized, designed and paid for a commercial billboard in which 1,200 Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth invite the public to “Examine the Evidence.” The 24’ (w) x 12’ (h) billboard was installed sometime Thurs. afternoon, Aug. 5, 2010 on South Higuera, just south of Elks Lane. The activists who have brought this matter to the people of SLO County who drive by this area realize that the evidence we are attempting to share is difficult to digest. Many simply cannot bear to question 9/11, knowing somewhere deeply in the collective unconscious that the truth may be more than we can stand. In order to understand the facts regarding the collapse of 3 modern, high rise buildings one has to free ourselves from our preconceived notions. Of course to investigate 9/11 carries with it the burden of doing something about it. While this is true, no one is asking any one of us to save the world single-handedly. It does not take long to get educated (just go to http://www.ae911truth.org/ ). The volumes of evidence presented include a peer reviewed paper published by an international team of scientists that positively found unignited thermite in all 4 samples of World Trade Center dust they tested. There has been no coverage of this paper in any of the mainstream press, including the so-called “Left media.” For more details about this highly charged issue, which we need to remember was the “reason” we went to war in the Middle East, please visit: http://www.ae911truth.org/ We Are Change.org August 7, 2010 added by: rodstradamus
