LeBron’s dramatic entrance stunned fans

LeBron Appreciation Day was held at InfoCision Stadium on Saturday, June 19, 2010. It was organized by the people in the City of Akron who thought that LeBron James isn’t just a basketball superstar, a two time MVP. For them, LeBron James is a true ambassador to their area, shining a spotlight on the greatness for their region and its people. He draws in crowds from all over the world, providing a boost to their economy and support for their businesses. The event, which is free and open to the public, is designed to show James how much he is appreciated by the city he grew up in and its citizens for everything he has done for Akron and Northeast Ohio. This festivity drew nearly 4,000 fans in the venue. As the thousands of fans already gone and leaving, LeBron James turned the big bash into a surprise party. He stunned everyone by walking through a side gate into nearly empty InfoCision Stadium in the University of Akron, after the event was officially ended. As his fans screamed and pushed to get closer to the two-time NBA MVP awardee, LeBron James, who lives a short drive near from the school, made his way down to the playing field. The MVP was presented with a gorgeous crystal trophy, which had to be pulled out of the box after being packed away. “Akron is my home, it’s my life,” James told the crowd after accepting the city’s first Hometown Hero Award. “Everything I do is for this city. I’m going to continue to do great things. I love every last one of you all. Akron is home.” James was then escorted through a door to the football team’s locker room and waved to fans before disappearing almost as quickly as he arrived. James didn’t commit to organizers that he would drop by to the said event, which was sponsored by local businesses and the city of Akron. He never mentioned about free agency during his 10-minute stay. This was his second public appearance since the post season ended in the second-round against the Eastern Conference Champions, Boston Celtics. Video and more info.. Johnny Weir Was ‘Awkward, Skinny,’ On ‘When I Was 17’

He was a World Junior Figure Skating champion, but Weir was no prom king. By MTV News staff Johnny Weir Photo: MTV News Although the two are bitter rivals these days, Johnny Weir shared something in common with fellow Olympic figure skater Evan Lysacek , who revealed his double life as a teen on a recent episode of “When I Was 17.” (“I was traveling all around the world to compete,” Lysacek revealed.) It turns out Weir was also racking up frequent flier miles as the young skater crisscrossed the globe to compete. But while Weir might have been on royalty on the rink, he was no prom king in high school. “I was the awkward, skinny, smart, driven kid,” Weir says on Saturday’s episode of “WIW17.” “I was an honor roll student. I spoke fluent French. I was a bit antisocial. I can’t say that I had a really booming social life.” Coming back to school after being on the road often presented Weir with some serious culture shock, he admitted. “I was traveling a lot while I was still attending public high school,” Weir recalled. “So I’d get back from all these beautiful, worldly experiences and then I’d just be the kid that got made fun of because I was a lot smaller than everyone else.” The 17-year-old may have been slight, but he was certainly graceful on the ice, though that wasn’t always apparent. Weir could be a bit less than agile away from the ice. “I won the junior world title, which means I was the best in the entire world,” he said. “The first day back when I went for my senior year, I was trying to scoot around a group of ladies and they were all a bit bigger ladies, and one of them swung around with their book bag — knocked me flat on my ass.” “When I Was 17” — this week featuring Jackson Rathbone, Keri Hilson and Johnny Weir — airs Saturday at 11 a.m. on MTV. Jon Voight: Barack Obama Promotes Anti-Semitism, Civil War in Arizona

To say Jon Voight is not a huge fan of Barack Obama would probably be a fairly safe statement, but Angelina Jolie’s estranged father has really outdone himself now. Slamming the Commander-in-Chief again in an open letter in the Washington Post , the 71-year-old staunch Republican makes some pretty strong accusations. Jon’s views, in a nutshell: Barack Obama propagandizes and hates Jews while defending criminals, illegal immigrants and terrorists for political gain. Harsh. The letter makes his anti-health care rant seem tame. Here’s what Voight had to say about Obama, who he previously termed a ” false prophet ” and his controversial foreign and domestic policies. Do you agree? “President Obama: “You will be the first American president that lied to the Jewish people, and the American people as well, when you said that you would defend Israel, the only Democratic state in the Middle East, against all their enemies.” “You have done the opposite.” “You have propagandized Israel, until they look like they are everyone’s enemy – and it has resonated throughout the world. You are putting Israel in harm’s way, and you have promoted anti-Semitism throughout the world.” “You have brought this to a people who have given the world the Ten Commandments and most laws we live by today. The Jewish people have given the world our greatest scientists and philosophers, and the cures for many diseases.” “Now you are playing a very dangerous game so you can look like a true martyr to what you see and say are the underdogs. But the underdogs you defend are murderers and criminals who want Israel eradicated.” “You have brought to Arizona a civil war, once again defending the criminals and illegals, creating a meltdown for good, loyal, law-abiding citizens.” “Your destruction of this country may never be remedied. We may never recover.” “I pray to God you stop, and I hope the people in this great country realize your agenda is not for the betterment of mankind, but for the betterment of your politics.” With heartfelt and deep concern for America and Israel, Jon Voight” Umm, sure. What do you think? Is Jon going too far with these remarks? Is the President really fostering destruction from which we may never recover? Interestingly, Us Weekly recently reported that Angelina Jolie has often gotten into some heated fights over Obama with beau Brad Pitt. “She’s into education and rehabilitation and thinks Obama is all about welfare and handouts,” a source said. “She thinks Obama is really a socialist in disguise.” Is Barack Obama a communist?

BP is KILLING THE PLANET: I don’t care who wins the World Cup

Where is the civil disobedience? Where is the outrage? Hayward was skewered in Congress in a show for the masses and that's all we &*&^&^^% get? Even the media now talks about this “spill”… HELLO, it's a GUSHER, as if it is just another ho hum news story.. “Ho Hum, day sixty five and the oil is now reaching Pensacola with oil soaked globs on the beaches, as a dolphin washes up on shore… and now the weather and coverage of the World Cup! ” I don't want to be a part of any species that is not now absolutely INCENSED by this ecocide, and I'm sick and tired of hiding how I feel. It is now obvious this government and BP are in this together somehow. Civil disobedience is now imperative. added by: JanforGore

Danielle Staub Teases Bisexuality, Exploits Gay Community

Danielle Staub is pathetic. Because her antics on The Real Housewives of New Jersey and in her disgusting sex tape haven’t elicited enough attention for this reality star, she’s now resorted to exploiting the gay community in order to make headlines. Following a duet with lesbian singer Lori Michaels this week, Danielle is teasing that she may be a bisexual. “I’m not ready to say that one way or the other,” she told Fox News. “Right now my focus is on my kids, but there is room for one more person in my world. Hopefully soon the world will see that.” Look, attention-starved loser: coming out of the closet is a big deal to people. It’s a life-altering event. You’re setting a sad example for those kids by using your sexuality as yet another platform for publicity. Making matters worse, Staub touts herself as an advocate for gay rights. “I haven’t even begun my work in the gay community yet,” she said. “I want to go to senate, I want to pass a bill and get gay marriage legalized. I go to events, I march in rallies. I’ve been a part of the gay community for 30 years.” We wonder how that community feels about a woman who exploits its agenda for personal gain. Either come out as a lesbian, or don’t, Danielle. You’re making a mockery of the cause you claim to care about.

Weezer Team Up With Ryan Adams For ‘Stirring’ New Song

‘He has a lot of wild and crazy energy,’ Rivers Cuomo says of collaborator. By James Montgomery, with reporting by Sasha Hamrogue Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo Photo: Tim Mosenfelder/ Getty Images He may still be celebrating the U.S. soccer team’s heat-pounding 1-0 World Cup win over Algeria — a win he predicted , to be honest — but Weezer frontman and avowed soccer nut Rivers Cuomo isn’t about to let a little partying stand in the way of his day job. Because, though he’s gripped with World Cup fever, Cuomo is already hard at work on a whole new batch of Weezer songs — and it sounds like fans might be hearing some of the new stuff sooner rather than later. “I don’t know what I’m supposed to say here, so I’m going to keep my mouth shut,” Cuomo told MTV Radio. “But, uh, people are going to be hearing new Weezer very soon.” Cuomo wouldn’t say just when or where the new Weezer material would be made available — shoot, they just released “Represent,” the unofficial anthem for the U.S. men’s World Cup team, on Friday. But, in keeping with the collaborative spirit he harnessed for Weez’s 2009 album Raditude (which saw him work with the likes of Lil Wayne , the All-American Rejects and Dr. Luke), it sounds like he’s been teaming up once again, this time with slightly rumpled troubadour (and husband of Mandy Moore ) Ryan Adams . “I just wrote a song with Ryan Adams. Not Bryan, Ryan,” Cuomo laughed. “It’s a very stirring and emotional and powerful Weezer song. He was really inspiring to work with. … He has a lot of wild and crazy energy. It’s gonna be on the Weezer record. He plays lead guitar on it, but it will be on the Weezer record, for sure.” Are you looking forward to Weezer’s collaboration with Ryan Adams? Drake Talks Michael Jackson, Dead Prez ‘Over’ Homages

‘Just to honor him was great,’ Drizzy tells Mixtape Daily of MJ. By Shaheem Reid, with additional reporting by Kelly Marino Drake Photo: MTV News Celebrity Favorites: Drake DP still keep it crunk up! “Drake borrowed the style — they took it right back. They did their thing,” DJ Drama told Mixtape Daily on Monday. He was explaining why Dead Prez wanted to freestyle on the 23-year-old’s “Over” on their new tape Revolutionary but Gangsta Grillz. “The guys go in on a lot of records,” Drama said. “The hits, as well as some obscure joints. They had to go in on ‘Over.’ ” The mixtape came out Tuesday and borrows from the title of their 2004 LP, Revolutionary but Gangsta A few months back, while on the set of his “Over” video, Drake told MTV News he was a fan of M1 and Stic.Man. “I also do this thing in the song [‘Over’] where I flip Dead Prez,” he said of his tip of the hat to the duo’s “It’s Bigger Than Hip-Hop” from their classic 2000 debut, Let’s Get Free. “They say, ‘One thing about music when it hits you feel no pain/ White folks say it controls your brain/ I know better than that/ It’s just game.’ I love that flow,” Drake explained. “So I took that flow and flipped it in the second verse.” But Drake doesn’t just nod to DP on the track; the Toronto MC pays tribute to the greatest artist ever, Michael Jackson. Since this week marks the one-year anniversary of his death, it’s only right we let Drizzy chime in on his stellar MJ reference: ” ‘Bout to go ‘Thriller’ Mike Jackson on these n—as/ All I need is a f—ing red jacket with some zippers.” “That was sort of my reference point; that phenomenon of Michael,” he said. “He was young and had the world excited and anticipating his every move. That was my homage to him and the impact that he had on the world that I live in. It’s also … great for people to say. Especially, unfortunately what happened to him, just to honor him was great.” “Over” is currently the #1 hip-hop song in the country, topping the Billboard rap songs chart.
