Game of Thrones: 9 Major Differences Between the Show and the Books

Even if you've never read George R.R. Martin's a A Song of Ice and Fire series, you're probably aware that the Game of Thrones showrunners have taken some serious liberties in adapting their source material. Some of the changes make perfect sense and were entirely expected (A 13-year-old Daenerys would've made for some pretty uncomfortable scenes in season one.), whereas others took hardcore fans by surprise. (Is  Sansa Stark really marrying Ramsay Bolton ?!) Here's a rundown of some of the biggest changes between the books and the wildly popular show. Obviously, spoilers lie ahead:   1. Worst. Fiance. Ever. In the books, Ramsay marries a friend of Sansa Stark’s, believing her to be Arya Stark. (Yeah, it’s complex). On the show, the writers chose to simplify things and raise the dramatic stakes by having the notorious sadist marry Sansa, instead. Might be good news for the audience, but it’s TERRIBLE news for poor Sansa. 2. THAT Scene Next to Joffrey’s Body One of GoT’s most controversial scenes showed what appeared to be Jaime Lannister raping his sister (and lover) next to the body of their dead son, Joffrey. In the book, the sex is consensual…though still pretty darn disturbing. 3. More Deaths Mean Fewer Actors to Pay! Barristan and Mance lost their lives this season, yet remain alive in the world of the books. The same can be said of Bran’s friend Jojen Reed in season four. Of course, in other worldly Westeros, you can never completely rule out the possibly of a return. In the books, the slain Catelynn Tully returns as the zombie-like Lady Stoneheart hell-bent on avenging her son’s death. That obviously hasn’t happened yet on the show, but we’re holding out hope. 4. Tyrion Lannister: Disfigured No More! In the books, Tyrion is profoundly disfigured at the Battle of Blackwater. On GoT, he’s simply left with a cool scar. Peter Dinklage explained the decision in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, saying, They’d have to [digitally paint] over my face in every frame, and that’s costly and time consuming. I think a scar solves everything.” 5. Robb’s Wife Doesn’t Lose Her Life In the books, Robb Stark marries a young nurse named Jeyne Westerling after he sleeps with her and feels guilty about it. On the show he marries Talisa Maegyr following a slightly longer romance. A pregnant Talisa gets stabbed to death at the Red Wedding. As far as we know, Jeyne is still alive in the books. 6. A Tale of Two Reeks In both the books and the show, Theon sacks Winterfell under orders from his father. In the books, however, he’s assisted by a hygenically-challenged prisoner named Reek…who eventually betrays him and reveals that he’s actually Ramsay Snow. In Martin’s version, Theon disappears for the next three books. In GoT, we get every gruesome detail of his torture. View Slideshow

#WithThisRing: Regina Hall Talks Making A Marriage Pact, Playing A Stripper In “The Best Man,” & How Her Father’s Death Impacted Her Career

Regina Hall Speaks On New Movie “With This Ring,” Getting Married And Her Father’s Death Veteran Hollywood actress Regina Hall has been popping up on the big and small screen very frequently over the last few years and she recently opened up about landing her first-ever lead role in the upcoming Lifetime film “With This Ring.” We caught up with Regina earlier this week to chat about the film, which was produced by Tracey Edmonds and Gabrielle Union, and she also touched on a few other topics including her own “marriage pact,” her father’s death, being a sex symbol and more. Check out some of what she had to say below: On what makes the film so relatable for her: Well I mean I am a woman who is single. So that, you know, the scenes in the book and in the script which I think has did an amazing job of adapting (unintelligible) to it I mean they resonate with me like so much. And what doesn’t resonate with me resonates with friends in my life. And it has been my friends that have gotten me through a lot of situations and who remind me of so many great things in, you know, my life.So I think it was just – it’s just a very well done well written script. And I always relate to that. But, you know, there were a lot of things about this woman that I relate to a lot. And I think the writers did a fabulous job in catching that. On how losing her father impacted her career choice: I was in grad school getting my Masters in journalism and my father died. He died very, very suddenly of a stroke my very first semester. And it pushed me into really grasping the brevity of life. And then that pushed me into what would I really like to do? You know, and it’s not like I had, you know, journalism always was very interesting to me and I actually loved it as well. But I had so many deeper questions to having lost a parent so young. So I think, you know, that was very big because it was after. And then I just did finish that but it was after that that I decided that I would pursue acting. And I think that was probably that was the biggest catalyst. On whether or not she knows men consider her a “sex symbol:” Well you know what there’s two answers to that. No. Well I’m in sweats and a baseball cap. And look your husband would be like wait a minute, you know, who was that? But I think the other part too is because I’m – I haven’t been in social media so you don’t get to – until five days ago and I’m still not good at it you may not know you don’t hear it as much. And also I don’t necessarily think you need to hear it, you know, I – it’s always wonderful to be supportive. Like the fact that, you know, you are an amazing woman and there is anything that, you know, you’re on, like you’re taking time out to say I really like which you do or that’s just – that’s kind of the beautiful part of it, you know, because it’s a real sincere part of it. And that’s kind of what you love. And, you know, maybe people – maybe people resonate with, you know, that but I, you know, it’s a weird thing feel like sex symbol especially as I’ve gotten older. On not being offered more roles involving nudity after playing a stripper in “The Best Man: I thought after I did Best Man people are going to ask me to strip again. But no one asked me again…I got offended! [Laughs] I thought: ‘Oh, I’m going to be typecast. They’re going to be asking you to play [a stripper].’ Not one role. Not one person asked me to take my clothes off again. On making a real life “marriage pact” with her friends: Oh my God yes. I made that vow. And clearly didn’t stick to it so, I must have come to the same conclusion that [my character] did. But, you know, I’ve had moments where my friends and I have been like look at this – bye this time next year we’re going to be married. It doesn’t matter. On what women can learn from the movie: I think the whole point of the movie — and I certainly resonate with this — is that, you know, and especially as a black woman I say, you know, we can’t wait to be happy. And there’s not an event or relationship or, you know, something that you have planned in your head that creates that. And I know before this movie started I was living in the – in my house but I wanted a yard in my house. And about three years ago, I wanted to move. And I remember the first thought is, oh, you know what? I should probably wait until I get married and then I’ll move. And then I thought well, I don’t know when that is. And I could enjoy my yard right now, you know, because right now is really all I have. And I think that’s the message that, you know, I really hope women take away from it like just there as so many wonderful things and so many wonderful pieces that make up life as a whole. You know, there’s so many different elements. So just because it’s not the way you necessarily envisioned or dreamed it doesn’t mean that it’s not deliciously wonderful. And I hope women really can know that and know that they themselves are the most valuable component in their life. “With This Ring” airs Saturday, January 24th at 8pm and we’ll definitely be tuning in! Will you? WENN/Lifetime

Case Of The Ex: Naya Rivera Sings Big Sean & Ariana Grande Duet On Glee Premiere

Naya Rivera Sings Ariana Grande Song On ‘Glee’ Looks like the Glee Writers felt like being messy this season. Just months after getting dumped by rapper Big Sean for petite pop princess Ariana Grande , Naya Rivera was forced to put on her Cheer-io’s uniform and sing “Problem” the duet that originally brought her ex-fiancee and his new boo together in the public eye. Damn homie. Via HollywoodLife : We know that Naya Rivera has moved on and is happily married now to Ryan Dorsey. However, we were shocked when we learned that on the premiere of Glee, Naya’s character, Santana was returning and performing a song by the girl her ex, Big Sean, moved on to — Ariana Grande! Naya gets back into her Cheerios uniform along with Dianna Agron, AKA Quinn and her on-screen love, Heather Morris, who plays Brittany, to perform Ariana’s song, “Problem.” This is absolutely insane — “Problem” is the first song that Ariana performed with Big Sean — and then they started dating! Yes, they’ve been friends for years, but still. Now this had to be completely uncomfortable for Naya — especially considering that Big Sean also released “IDFWU,” with translates to “I Don’t F–k with You” on Sept. 12, and then revealed a few days later on Sept. 26, “Obviously [‘IDFWU’] kind of is my situation.” Well it could have been worse…they could have had her do a New Directions-ified rendition of Big Sean’s middle finger to Naya, “IDFWU.”

Lisa Ann: Dating Justin Brent! Calling Out Critics of Massive Age Gap!

Lisa Ann is in the news unexpectedly this week, as the 42-year-old porn star is hooking up with Justin Brent, a freshman football player for Notre Dame! The couple raised eyebrows at the New York Knicks game at Madison Square Garden, where she was all over the 19-year-old and not trying to hide it. This wasn’t just an Instagram photo op, either. It was an official date. They reportedly met earlier this year while Lisa (best known to some as the Sarah Palin porn look-alike) was traveling, and SHE made the first move. Cougar style. Hey, when you’re Lisa Ann, you can pull that off. She’s also very well aware that her actions caused controversy and debate on social media. The sex queen fired off a number of Tweets on the topic: I am very entertained today by the incredible amount of commentary about my date to the @nyknicks Game Last Night.. I am a women NOT held back by my age, lucky for me, because the writers seem to make me out to be a dinosaur. 42 is NOT old, It is amazing! The irony here is successful, older men have had beautiful young women on their arms in the past… Now it is MY turn to mix it up! This is YET another one of those times where i can say with a smile.. YOLO Again i blame @belle_knox Since she has become such a big part of my life, it is raining 19 Year Olds.. The Year of 1995…. lol Classic Belle Knox name checking right there, but somehow we doubt she needed the Duke porn star ‘s connections to hook her up with college kids. 17 Couples With Big Age Differences 1. Wladimir Klitschko and Hayden Panettiere – 14 Years Wladimir Klitschko and Hayden Panettiere, who are somewhat surprisingly a thing, are 14 years apart (38-24). At 42-19, the duo certainly ranks among our favorite celebrity couples with huge age gaps , but it’s not the single craziest one we’ve seen by a long shot. Or the creepiest. Cough, Steven Bauer . You go, Lisa Ann. YOLO indeed. Just be sure you don’t wear the kid out too much, even though Notre Dame does have a bye week this Saturday.

Grey’s Anatomy Season 11 Episode 6 Promo: Don’t Let’s Start This Again

Grey’s Anatomy Season 11 Episode 6, appropriately airing in two weeks on 11/6, picks up in the aftermath of last night’s emotional Calzona shocker. Grey’s Anatomy Season 11 Episode 6 Promo It’s hard to even think of what’s next after this week’s installment, which saw Callie and Arizona’s marriage unravel, very possibly and sadly for good. Do they stand a chance? Will it ever be the same? Will fans ever be the same having endured that hour, and being put through that kind of emotional wringer? We’ll find out on Grey’s Anatomy Season 11 Episode 6 , but elsewhere, Owen becomes invested in a patient when he realizes she may have served in the military. Meanwhile, on a personal and awkward note, April’s mother pays her daughter a visit and ends up bonding with Jackson, and Derek plans a family dinner. As this is all going on, a patient’s diagnosis causes Bailey to reconsider her own health issues, and lastly, Dr. Herman drops a bombshell on Arizona. What do you think that could be? Can Arizona withstand any more bombshells at this point? She’s already struggling, both professionally and personally. At a certain point, you have to think the writers have dealt her all she can take (even if she’s very much a part of Calzona crumbling), but we will see. Check out the promo for your first look at the show’s return from a one-week hiatus, then relive the drama of Grey’s Anatomy Season 11 Episode 5 below: Watch Grey’s Anatomy Season 11 Episode 5 Online

Sofia Vergara’s Busts Out The Cleavage

Here’s my favorite busty TV star Sofia Vergara on the Modern Family set filming their latest episode. I’m not sure what this one’s about, but here’s hoping the writers actually listened to my fan mail for once and it involves Sofia becoming a professional trampoline tester. Either way though, I can already tell this is going to be a pretty great episode. So enjoy the sneak preview. » view all 11 photos Photos: PacificCoastNews Continue reading

True Blood Season 7 Episode 7 Recap: The Return of Bookie!!!

So, let us get this straight… On True Blood Season 7 Episode 7 , Sookie called in a doctor to examine Bill. She got scared of Sookie’s bloodline… which prompted Sookie to call in her fairy godfather… who ate some spaghetti… who promised to help Sookie… who then told her he could NOT help her… which inspired Sookie to jump back into bed with Bill. While many viewers may be celebrating the naked reunion of Bookie, a great many others may be sharing in our consternation over just how boring and filler-filled True Blood Season 7 has become. Does a single person out there care about Bill’s pointless flashbacks? Is there any doubt the writers are using these each week because they literally just need time to fill? What about Adilyn and Wade, two characters we didn’t know at all last season? They seem nice and all, but is anyone sitting on the edge of his or her seat any time the story shifts to their (non-kinky) lovemaking and threats from Violet? Heck, what about Arlene? We all love Carrie Preston in this role, but she’s been a side character for years and now she’s practically receiving more screen time than Eric. There are simply no stories left to tell, that much is obvious. The show keeps spinning its wheel each Sunday night, with barely anything happening and with absolutely no final season-like drama taking place. That random Sarah Newlin hallucination lasted for multiple minutes! What is going on here?!? To recap the actual events, snark-free: Sookie had sex with Bill, wanting to take advantage of every last second together. Eric agreed to help the Asian bad guys hunt down Sarah and synthesize her blood, in exchange for 49% of their company and a role as their spokesman. Andy and Holly broke down as they continued to pursue their kids. Violet gave Wade and Adilyn a sex room to use and then attacked them. Hoyt returned with his hot girlfriend and identified his mother’s body. Jason seemed very into this hot girlfriend. Sam contemplated leaving Bon Temps with Nicole. Arlene slow-danced with vampire Keith because she’s infected and can’t have sex with him. Lafayette and Lettie Mae started digging up Tara’s childhood home’s backyard. What did everyone else think of this truly horrid True Blood episode?
