A Black entrepreneur from North Carolina is creating coloring books for the culture. In celebration of #BlackExcellence, Latoya Nicole launched a coloring book series that visually highlights African-American history and culture, the Charleston Chronicle reported. Latoya Nicole's coloring book “24 Shades of Business” is not only a therapeutic activity, there are also inspirational quotes and crossword puzzles that test your black history and reminds of what it takes to be successful in your career #BlackHistoryMonth https://t.co/z6WRttOZFh — Charleston Chronicle (@ChronicleChasSC) February 9, 2019 The coloring book—dubbed 24 Shades of Business —is an ode to Black entrepreneurship, the news outlet writes. Nicole says that in addition to celebrating Black trailblazers who fought for justice during Black history month, she wanted to see the accomplishments of Black business owners celebrated as well; especially Black women entrepreneurs. The 24 Shades of Business coloring book features imagery of Black women in a variety of different occupations, highlighting a women who leads in the boardroom, a photographer, a blogger, a yoga instructor, and other professions. The coloring book also features inspirational quotes. Coloring books have become therapeutic for adults. Nicole says she wanted to use her project as an avenue to celebrate Black women and encourage them to practice self-care. Nicole holds a master’s degree in counseling and psychology. “Women can be so self-sufficient and self-sacrificing that sometimes we can forget the importance of self-care,” she told the Daytona Times . “I knew I wanted to create something that I could relate to because representation matters, plus coloring was like therapy for me. Coloring allows us to switch our brains off from other thoughts and focus and concentrate only on the moment which can help decrease stress.” She also has another book in her Entrepreneurs Color Too series called 80’s Ladies which includes popular fashion trends from the 80s and 90s. Nicole has taken her mission to inspire and empower women beyond her coloring books. She has also created e-courses, books and journals to help women entrepreneurs grow their business. SMH: Two Louisiana Men Arrested At Walmart For Terrorizing And Calling A Black Woman The N-Word

Source: YURI CORTEZ / Getty Men Arrested At Walmart For Terrorizing Black Customer Police have arrested two Louisiana men who “terrorized” a black woman at their local Walmart, damaging her car and using the N-word in the process. Suspects 22-year-old Dylan Reynolds and 24-year-old Michael Walters of West Monroe, were arrested Thursday after social media tipped off the West Monroe Police Department, according to the  News Star . The police had posted to Facebook security camera screenshots of the suspects laughing in the aisle of a Walmart Supercenter on November 29 and on Tuesday, Reynolds and Walters had been identified. According to an arrest warrant obtained by local TV station  KNOE , the two men stalked and “terrorized” an unnamed black shopper as she was exiting Walmart “for no apparent reason.” “While the victim was leaving the store and attempting to load her purchased items in her vehicle, she was confronted by two white males. While in the parking lot the victim was yelled at and called n*****,” read the warrant. “The female rushed the items in her vehicle and tried to escape the two white males while they were yelling racial slurs at her. As the victim fled the scene in her vehicle, one of the two white males chased after her on foot while pushing an empty shopping cart.” The warrant reads that one of the men “violently” rear-ended the victim’s car with the shopping cart, which ended up causing more than $1,000 in damages and endangering her as she tried to leave. After the incident, Reynolds and Walters sped away in a gray Dodge Ram pickup truck. These men are now being held in Ouachita Correctional Center on individual $20,000 bonds.  According to  KNOE , they’ve been charged with felony hate crimes, resulting in $5,000 fines and up to five years in prison. Walmart said the following in a statement to Yahoo Lifestyle : “We want our customers to have a pleasant and safe shopping experience, and we don’t tolerate discrimination of any kind. We’ll continue to work with the West Monroe Police Department and will refer additional questions to them.”

He TRIED It: Trump Supporter Calls 911 On Black Lyft Driver For Not Turning On The Radio

Jaap Arriens/NurPhoto via Getty Images White Passenger Calls Cops On Black Lyft Driver For “Racial Profiling” A  Trump  supporter berated his Lyft driver with the N word, and has since been fired from his job after a video of the harassment went completely viral. Buckle your seatbelts for this one, y’all…. The Lyft driver, Shawn Pepas Lettman, calmly filmed the 16-minute lashing out by passenger Robert Ortiz and his two friends, who called the New York City Police after Lettman refused to turn on the radio. “I feel racially profiled … because I’m not black,” Ortiz told the 911 operator. He later adds, “If this guy does anything to threaten my life, I have to defend myself. … I’m a little fearful.” The passenger then proceeds to get the phone with Lyft. “Maybe because I’m not black … I was charged $8.01 for just asking for music,” said Ortiz, while threatening to file a lawsuit against the company. “I came out of a gay club and your driver is racist against gay people,” Ortiz rants, adding, “I know my legal rights as an American citizen that voted for Trump…” Ortiz also calls the Lyft operator, “a piece of s***.”  In another video call to a friend, Ortiz uses the N word multiple times to describe Lettman. Ortiz then accuses Lettman of illegally filming him and says, “So, I’m going to make sure, while you’re recording this, that you never have a job as a Lyft driver again.” When the driver finally speaks, he points to a sign in his car that states passengers will be recorded, to which Ortiz threatens to “make your night a living hell.” Ortiz continues to dig himself into a deeper hole, yelling about, “All that Black Lives Matter is bulls***.” He calls the police again while refusing to leave the car. “I bet you if I was black — and Black Lives Matter,” he spits, “he would have put the music on. F*** Black Lives Matter — every life matters … all I asked for was music.” Following their publishing of the story, a representative from Lyft sent a statement to Yahoo Lifestyle : “The behavior exhibited in the video is deeply concerning. Lyft is committed to maintaining an inclusive and welcoming community and discriminatory behavior is unacceptable. We temporarily deactivated both passenger and driver accounts while we investigated the situation. After reviewing all sides, we reactivated Mr. Lettman’s account within hours and permanently disabled the passenger account. We have also reached out to Mr. Lettman to express our support.” Lettman explained that after he stopped recording, he called the police in fear of his own safety. “I didn’t ask for this nor did I want this,” he wrote. “I know America is better than this and despite the hate, we have to deal with from a few, my heart tells me, the world is mostly good.” On Thursday, Ortiz’s former employer, medical clinic CityMD, wrote in a  Facebook comment , “This is to confirm that this individual was terminated and is no longer employed by or affiliated with CityMD in any capacity.” You can watch the video from the absolutely insane incident below.

The program is led by P. Michael Boone who has been cutting hair for nearly three decades. It was created to teach young men all of the elements of barbering, including everything from clipper control to cleanliness. Initially, Graham-Henries’ brother was going to participate in the program but decided to not move forward. She chose to stick with it. After noticing her passion for cutting hair, Boone took the youngster under his wing. “I never expected to see a young lady in my class, but she was eager to learn, and I gave her the same guidance I’d give my older students,” Boone told Yahoo News . “I am very proud of her. She was a great student, and I am excited to see where this will take her.” Boone recently organized a back to school event for children in the Philadelphia area where Graham-Henries helped him give nearly 400 students free haircuts. “The whole process is to finish it and do it really good and to, like, style it good,” Graham-Henries told CBS Philadelphia. Boone is gearing up for another community service-focused project in November where he will cut hair for the homeless. He says the second grader will more than likely help him out with that project. There are several people in Philadelphia using barbering as an avenue to give back to those in need. In 2017, after dedicating an entire year to walking the streets of the city to give free haircuts to the homeless, Brennon Jones was gifted with a fully-furnished barbershop to continue serving those in need.
