The champion boxer was a beloved member of his community, so it’s no surprise his hometown, along with his family, have banded together for the third annual Ali Week. The week runs from June 1st to June 9th and has a multitude of events including special exhibits, music, games, food vendors, and free admission to the Ali Center all week. We caught up with Maryum ‘May May’ Ali, the eldest of Muhammad Ali’s nine children, who expressed what the week means to her. “I am extremely blessed that events are implemented to remember my father. There are so many things from his legacy that we can learn from and be inspired by. I believe that my father would have been humbled by the love people are still giving him.” On Thursday, was the official unveiling of the Muhammad Ali International Airport. Lonnie Ali, wife of Muhammad Ali and Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer were on hand with officials of the Louisville Regional Airport Authority for this momentous occasion. Lonnie Ali expressed, “No matter how many miles Muhammad travelled, he always came back to the place he called home and he always made his visitors feel welcome. It is my hope that all people who travel to Louisville will feel that same welcoming spirit as they enter this airport and want to return to visit soon.” If you are in Louisville, KY or close, you should consider attending one of the events! The deal will keep him in the city through 2024, and guarantees him over $107 million. The deal could escalate to a max of $144 million with incentives. With years on his rookie contract, it makes his deal six years and could max out at $170 million according to ESPN. Carson lets the fans know exactly how he is feeling about the deal in an instagram video posted by the Philadelphia Eagles. Some fans may be spectacle about the deal because of the past injuries, but it’s the best move for the franchise, and sets them up with a core of players for the next 3 years that should give the team serious chances at another Super Bowl. Source: NurPhoto / Getty Florida Woman Stabs Herself Repeatedly Because Trump Is President Listen, normally we chide the state of Florida as a wasteland of society’s most deviant deplorables, but in this case, we KINDA get it. According to an article on The Smoking Gun , a woman from the Sunshine State stabbed herself in the stomach repeatedly with a kitchen knife. When police found her she was standing outside of her home, completely covered in blood. When asked what was wrong, the woman lifted her shirt to reveal “three stab wounds on [her] stomach that were still bleeding.” She then told the patrolman she had “stabbed herself because she does not want to live in Trump’s country.” Same, sis. Same. But we’re just not entirely sure that THIS is best way for that frustration to manifest itself. After evaluating the woman, a cop concluded that there was a “substantial likelihood” that she “will cause bodily harm to herself and/or others.” As a result, the officer appears to have recommended that the woman be involuntarily admitted to a mental health treatment facility (per the state’s Baker Act). The woman told police that this isn’t her first Baker Act rodeo. F**k Trump, but we hope she gets the help she needs because this ain’t it.
