Katy Perry and Russell Brand: It’s Over!!

The Internet may be a “wicked little liar,” to use Russell Brand’s words, a great deal of the time. But apparently not in this sad case. He’s divorcing Katy Perry. Just 24 hours after Russell was spotted sans wedding ring in London, with Katy 7,000 miles away with friends in Hawaii, the actor filed the papers this afternoon. Brand personally confirmed the news, saying in a statement: “Sadly, Katy and I are ending our marriage I’ll always adore her and I know we’ll remain friends.” Brand cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split in the official divorce documents, filed in Los Angeles Friday. The couple married October 23, 2010. The documents list “community property assets,” which may indicate a lack of prenup, or one that does not account for all their earnings and other assets. The news is surprising and yet not, given recent reports that the couple had been having problems and spending time apart, possibly following a massive fight . He does not list a date the couple separated, but TMZ reports that Russell Brand may have blindsided Katy Perry by filing the divorce petition. Stay tuned. [Photo: WENN.com]

Derek Jeter and Minka Kelly: Seeing Sights, Each Other in Paris

For Derek Jeter, this is one double play we’re guessing he doesn’t mind hitting into. All indications point to the Yankees superstar rekindling his romance with actress Minka Kelly, as witnesses tell Life & Style the pair are spending the holidays together in Paris. They were spotted at the Mus

Derek Jeter and Minka Kelly to Get Back Together?

His team has been eliminated from the American League Playoffs. Her new show is likely getting canceled. So why wouldn’t Derek Jeter and Minka Kelly get back together?!? The long-time couple broke up in August due to scheduling conflicts, but with more free time ahead than either had hoped for, sources tell The New York Post that a reconciliation is possible. Jeter flew to see Kelly in Miami this week. “They met up to try and figure it out,” said a source of the South Beach rendezvous. “They are trying to see what the future holds for them.” For Jeter, it holds out hope that the Yankees can flip Jesus Montero and other prospects for Felix Hernandez. For Kelly, perhaps a nude spread of some kind? It’s unclear which of these dream scenarios is more far-fetched. [Photo: Pacific Coast News]

Quickly, Let’s Come Up With 20 Hilarious New Titles for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

I accept that The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo will be the sensation of winter, and not just because it looks fantastic in its new trailer. Stieg Larsson’s thrilling Millennium series is perfect for David Fincher’s dark auteurship, and I expect his protege Rooney Mara to pull off protagonist Lisbeth Salander’s Nordic grit. In the meantime, though, Lisbeth’s cartoonishly goth appearance (shown in the movie’s new photos ) is too bizarre not to mock, and I need to get some snark out of my system before the wave of great buzz sweeps through fall. Here are 20 mocking new titles.

If you’re a demeanor, there’s no room to question why so many people love him. CC is making his rounds as the spokesperson for the Pepsi MAX Field of Dreams campaign. Pepsi MAX is giving fans a chance to vote for their dream team of 11 legendary players. Each time a person votes, they will be entered to win a chance to play against the fan selected players on their home field. I ( @JaySpeakEasy ) had a chance to talk to the Yankee pitcher at the MLB Fan Cave. In our brief conversation, we talked about how the Yankee season is going so far, the toughest part of the game, and hip-hop. Let’s get right into it. How do you feel about the Yankees’ season thus far? I feel pretty good. We’ve been having a pretty good year. We’re in second place right now. I think we’ve been playing really well. We had a tough loss against the Angels, but we still have a chance to make the playoffs. So we’ll go from there. What are your thoughts on catcher, Jorge Posada, being benched? It’s tough, man. He’s a legend. He’s done a lot for this organization and a lot for this city. I think it is just tough to see somebody go through that. But Posada will be right back where he belongs soon enough. I’m confident in that. How would you like the Yankee season to end? Hopefully, we win the World Series. I mean, that’s why I came to New York because we have a chance of winning it every year. Everybody knows that. That’s pretty cool and a special feeling to have. How do you balance family with being on the road and traveling majority of the year? That is a hard thing to deal with during the season, but in the summertime, my kids are out of school. I get to hang out with them and spend the time they need when the summer hits. We do whatever we can on days I’m off. But it is part of the life. I get to come home for the off season and they have at home everyday for four months. I wouldn’t trade the time with my family for anything. I know you’re a big hip hop fan. Who is the rapper you would say most represents your pitching style? Rick Ross . I think he has the style and attitude are the representation of my pitching style. He is confident and headstrong. My feel like I pitch with a confidence. That’s why I have to go with Rick Ross on that one. Plus, I’m a huge fan of his. What albums are you listening to now? Well, you know Watch The Throne just dropped so I’m bumping that heavy. That’s really it. I’m not listening to anything else as of now. Jay-Z and Kanye West have a great album out. I’m definitely enjoying all of the tracks. I have no favorite yet. Well, thank you for speaking with me. I’m just going to need one favor from you. Speak to whoever you need to speak to, but the people in the bleacher seats are going to need some shade. It’s way too hot for that. [laughs] Oh, ya’ll a little hot over there? I’ll see what I can do. VIDEO: Alec Baldwin Puts John Krasinski in a Yankees Bikini for New Era

Throughout the baseball season New Era has released some fairly hilarious commercials-cum-viral videos featuring Alec Baldwin and John Krasinski and the increasing stakes of their Yankees/Red Sox fan rivalry. The third spot has come online just in time for the latest on-field Yanks/Sox tangle — the teams meet for three games in Boston this weekend — and while it isn’t as funny as the previous two, it does feature Krasinski in a Yankees bikini. Photoshopped, but hey: still comedy!

Alex Rodriguez Under Investigation for Underground Poker Participation, Brawl

Alex Rodriguez should stick to being fed popcorn by Cameron Diaz. For the second time in a few years, the Yankees third baseman is at the center of an underground poker scandal. According to Radar Online, ARod took part in a couple illegal Texas Hold ‘Em games in the recent past, during which cocaine was used and a brawl broke out. Major League Baseball is looking into the allegations and taking them “very seriously,” an insider tells ESPN. The Yankees have won five games in a row without Alex Rodriguez in the lineup. The games were held at the Beverly Hills mansion of record executive Cody Leibel, with the host losing “more than a half-million dollars” at one, a witness told Radar, and violence subsequently breaking out over his refusal to pay. Once things turned ugly, Rodriguez reportedly left the scene and”tried to distance himself from the game,” said professional poker player Dan Bilzerian, who was present that night. “He just shook his head, not knowing what the hell happened,” said Bilzerian. “He didn’t want to deal with it at all. He was like, ‘OK, whatever. It’s your game.’ I would estimate A-Rod lost, like, a few thousand dollars that night. After everything that happened, he paid up and left.” In 2005, faced with rumors that their $300 million investment was taking part in gambling of this nature, the Yankees warned ARod to cease all illegal activity. But it apparently hasn’t sunk in and an anonymous MLB source says: “[Commissioner Bud Selig is] totally fed up with him. It’s like there’s something new with him every day and it’s impossible to keep up with it.” Former Paris Hilton sex tape partner Rick Salomon was also present at the games, an onlooker said. No, really.

Hines Ward, Witnesses Question DUI Arrest

Hines Ward is one of the most upstanding citizens in the NFL, making the news of his DUI arrest shocking for all who follow the league. But the wide receiver’s rep the “preliminary investigation” makes him “confident that the facts will show that Hines was NOT impaired by alcohol while driving,” while those who actually saw the Dancing with the Stars champion out that night concur. A waiter at the Bucket Bottle, an establishment Ward frequented Friday night, said the All-Pro was there for a few hours, but only downed a couple drink. He told TMZ Ward was very nice and didn’t appear inebriated. A waitress at Oasis, another bar Ward stopped at, echoed this image of the Steeler only have a drink or two and scarcely causing a scene. Of course, a sobriety test says a lot more than two anonymous employees. So we’ll update this story when more hard evidence is revealed.
