Octomom just heard about the New Jersey woman giving her a run for Mother of the Year, Patricia Krentcil, and boy oh boy, is she incredulous! Nadya Suleman admits that while she is always inclined to give parents the benefit of the doubt … the now-infamous Tanning Mom needs help . If not mental help, then some serious parenting classes. From one amazing parent to another … Octomom says she doesn’t feel Patricia Krentcil should lose her kid, even though she was recently arrested for taking her little girl tanning . She does feel, however, that Child Protective Services should step in to give Krentcil some tips on child-rearing. Hard to argue with that. It’s kind of like the pot calling the kettle bronze here. No, Octo hasn’t been arrested at any point, but she’s messing up 13 more kids than Patty. In any case, when a woman who’s been visited by CPS herself, filed for bankruptcy and started an adult film career ( Octomom’s porn video debut is slated for later this year) decides to call you out on your mothering skills … never a good sign.
‘The Houston Family Chronicles,’ which will feature Bobbi Kristina Brown and Cissy Houston, premieres on Lifetime later this year. By John Mitchell Whitney Houston and her daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown Photo: Steve Granitz/ WireImage A new reality series featuring the family of late pop superstar Whitney Houston will premiere on Lifetime later this year, the network announced in a statement Friday (May 11). Titled “The Houston Family Chronicles,” the show will feature Houston’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, and mother Cissy Houston, though the focus will be on “The Bodyguard” superstar’s brother Gary Houston and sister-in-law and manager Pat Houston, as well as their daughter, Rayah. Houston’s cousin Dionne Warwick and Bobbie Kristina’s godmother, gospel legend CeCe Winans, will also appear in the series. According to Lifetime, the reality show will focus on Pat and Gary “as they take on their greatest challenge, supporting and guiding Bobbi Kristina as she faces the world alone, without the one person she relied on the most, her mother.” Whitney Houston died on February 11 of this year at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The L.A. County coroner ruled that accidental drowning was the official cause of Houston’s death, adding that cocaine use and heart disease were contributing factors. The report indicated traces of cocaine were found in Houston’s system at the time of death along with Xanax, Flexeril, marijuana and Benadryl, though officials said these substances played no role in her untimely passing. “The tragic loss of Whitney Houston left a void in the hearts of people all over the world, but certainly none more so than her beloved family,” Rob Sharenow, executive vice president of programming at Lifetime Networks, said in a statement. “In this series, the multi-generations of the Houston family will bravely reveal their lives as they bond together to heal, love, and grow.” Lifetime has ordered 10 hour-long episodes of “The Houston Family Chronicles” and will premiere the show at a yet-undetermined time later this year. According to Pat Houston, the show had been in the works well before Whitney’s death. “I have been working with Simmons-Shelley [production company] over the past few years developing a project suitable for myself and our family,” Pat Houston said. “The unexpected passing of Whitney certainly affects the direction of the show. However, it is my hope that others will be enlightened as they watch our family heal and move forward.” Will you watch “The Houston Family Chronicles”? Let us know in the comments below. Two-time VMA host will lead the festivities Sunday, June 3, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on MTV. By Kevin P. Sullivan Russell Brand Photo: Dave Hogan/ Getty Images Actor, comedian and two-time Video Music Awards emcee Russell Brand will be your host for the 2012 MTV Movie Awards when they air live from the Gibson Amphitheatre on Sunday, June 3, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The star of the upcoming film “Rock of Ages” will lead the fan-voted awards, which celebrate the year’s biggest films. “This MTV Movie Awards will be more impressive than ‘The Avengers’ and you won’t have to wait an hour for someone to Hulk out,” said Russell Brand. “MTV Movie Awards incorporates two of my favorite things. Movies and Awards. If somehow group sex could be involved it would be the greatest night of my life.” Jesse Ignjatovic, the executive producer for the show, spoke with MTV News about Brand and why he was a clear choice as host. “First of all, I think Russell’s the perfect host for this show,” said Ignjatovic, who previously worked with Brand during his two stints hosting the VMAs. “He’s a movie star. He’s probably one of the most brilliant stand-ups that I’ve seen in his time, and he’s a rock star.” And it’s that rock-and-roll attitude that Ignjatovic said will play an important role in this year’s show, which will highlight the ties between music and film with performances from groups like Fun. Ignjatovic added that Brand’s ability to riff off the unscripted moments in the show really excites him. “Whatever we end up creating around him within the show, he brings that danger thing as well,” Ignjatovic said. “We’d love for the show to live there, where you don’t know how he’s going to react to something in the moment. He’s so sharp and witty and on his game that that’s an exciting place to live.” But when it really comes down to it, what makes Brand the right host, according to Ignjatovic, is his comedy. “He has amazing comedic chops. He’s brilliant. He touches all of the areas that I think are important to us,” he said. “Add to that I think he’s one of the most professional people I’ve worked with in terms of comedians. He’s well-studied and very dedicated to his craft. I think we’re very fortunate that he said ‘yes.’ ” Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to vote for your favorite flicks now! Santana tells MTV News he plans to drop his next solo LP Born to Lose, Built to Win later this year. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Rahman Dukes Juelz Santana Photo: MTV News Juelz Santana and Lil Wayne’s I Can’t Feel My Face LP has been six years in the making and a good number of the tracks have already been leaked onto the Internet, but when fans will get an official version is anyone’s guess. “When Wayne reached out to me at the time I just wasn’t in the position to really do things the right way,” Santana told MTV News at Meek Mill’s 25th birthday bash in Philadelphia. During an interview with MTV’s “Hip Hop POV” host Amanda Seales, Wayne revealed that when he was released from prison in 2010, he hoped he and his buddy Elz could begin new recording sessions for the storied album, but after a January 2011 raid on Santana’s New Jersey studio left him unable to work, Weezy repurposed the beats that intended for Face for his upcoming I Am Not a Human Being II. “At the time my studio had just got shut down, I lost a lot of music so I just had to recuperate,” Elz explained to MTV News. “But I reached out to Weezy, we in a good space.” I Can’t Feel My Face isn’t the only Juelz project that fans have been clamoring for. It’s been seven years since his last solo album, What the Game’s Been Missing! and considering it earned him an RIAA-certified gold plaque, the wait for Juelz’s next LP Born to Lose, Built to Win is quite the head scratcher. But the rapper assured that he’ll have an album out by the end of the year. “I’ll probably drop two mixtapes before the album and we gonna get everything right, we gonna get everything back in the proper perspective where it need to be,” he told MTV News. “When I put out my music it will be well worth the wait, that’s all I can say.” And in case you were wondering about the status of Diplomatic Immunity 3, the long-awaited reunion album with Cam’ron, Jim Jones, Juelz and Freekey Zekey, that idea is still on the table. “Hopefully we gonna get that Diplomat album poppin’,” Santana plugged. “We just want to do that the right way.” Which Juelz Santana album are you looking forward to the most? ‘This lawsuit is a complete fiction and fabrication,’ a rep for Travolta tells People. By Kara Warner John Travolta Photo: Jesse Grant/ WireImage An anonymous plaintiff has filed a $2 million lawsuit against John Travolta, alleging that the “Old Dogs” star assaulted and sexually harassed him after he was hired to massage the actor. Unsurprisingly, a rep for Travolta has shot down the allegations via a statement issued to People magazine , in which the rep strongly denied all claims made by the anonymous man, known only as John Doe via his court filing. “This lawsuit is a complete fiction and fabrication,” Travolta’s rep said. “None of the events claimed in the suit ever occurred. The plaintiff, who refuses to give their name, knows that the suit is a baseless lie. It is for that reason that the plaintiff hasn’t been identified with a name even though it is required to do so. “On the date when plaintiff claims John met him, John was not in California and it can be proved that he was on the East Coast,” the statement continued. “[The] plaintiff’s attorney has filed this suit to try and get his 15 minutes of fame. John intends to get this case thrown out and then he will sue the attorney and plaintiff for malicious prosecution.” The plaintiff’s lengthy 14-page suit, which was filed Friday in California’s U.S. District Court, charges 58-year-old Travolta with assault, sexual battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress. According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that among other salacious activities, Travolta exposed himself and groped the masseur despite protests during a massage performed in Los Angeles in January 2011.
‘You’ll be playing Jeffrey Jones,’ director jokingly tells Depp, referring to actor in original flick. By Kara Warner Johnny Depp Photo: Pascal Le Segretain/ Getty Images We’re fully aware of the fact that Tim Burton and Johnny Depp have very full schedules at the moment, given all their various projects like “Dark Shadows,” Burton’s “Frankenweenie,” Depp’s “The Lone Ranger,” another “Pirates of the Carribean” movie, etc. But can we get Burton to free up his schedule sometime soon in order to film a “Beetlejuice” sequel already? Because Burton has already expressed interest in exploring another “Beetlejuice” film with star Michael Keaton and “Shadows” screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith, when MTV News caught up with the busy director and frequent collaborator Depp recently, we threw in a question about what chance there might be in seeing Depp in the film, if it ever happens. “Ugh,” Burton replied, playfully scoffing at the question. “Yeah, Tim,” Depp reacted, adding emphasis for his friend to answer the question. “This is my last movie,” Burton continued as both of them chuckled at the idea. “You’ll be playing Jeffrey Jones,” he said to Depp, which sent the actor into further giggles. “Yeah,” Depp laughed. “I can play Jeffrey, I think.” “We can make it work,” Burton said. Now, whether Burton meant that Depp should play the character that actor Jeffrey Jones originated in “Beetlejuice” or that he should actually play Jeffrey Jones, that’s up for interpretation. On a more serious note, writer Grahame-Smith is definitely planning on delivering a script to Burton this year. “I am hopefully going to write it this year,” Grahame-Smith told MTV News recently . “I’ve gone and met with Tim Burton about it, I’ve gone and met with Michael Keaton about it. In theory everybody would be open to it if the script is good, so now it’s just my job to make sure the script is good.” Additionally, Grahame-Smith is also in favor of including a role for Depp. “I may not be able to avoid it — [Burton] may make me do it,” he said of Depp getting involved. ‘I was walking into this as a complete amateur,’ singer reveals in ‘MTV First: Battleship.’ By Fallon Prinzivalli, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Rihanna Photo: MTV News As Rihanna begins her foray into the film industry, she’s quickly becoming the queen of pop culture. She’s a musical icon with millions of fans who worship her singing abilities and can’t wait to see her acting debut in Peter Berg’s “Battleship.” But her devotees aren’t the only ones itching to see what the musician has up her sleeve. During “MTV First: Battleship,” her co-star Taylor Kitsch said he was excited to see her take on the role. “Yeah, there’s an excitement behind [working with Rihanna]. I was excited to see what you were going to do with [the part],” Kitsch said to the singer. Rihanna chimed in, “I’ll answer this, because it’s probably uncomfortable for them to say no, but I was the one that was intimidated.” Wait, what? It’s hard to imagine the singer intimidated by anything. With songs like “Rockstar 101” and “Who’s That Chick?” and equally fiery music videos, Rihanna gives off a fierce persona and owns any project that comes her way. But she revealed that despite her ever-present nerves, she learned from the cast — particularly Kitsch , who offered advice as they worked on scenes. “You know, we have a mutual respect for each other’s industry,” she said. “I was walking into this as an amateur — a complete amateur. I didn’t know anything and I had a good team to learn from. I watched them, and especially Taylor, ’cause we did a lot of scenes together and he would always offer me advice.” And as for Alexander Skarsg
Leading the pack with eight nominations, the Gary Ross-directed film could replace ‘Twilight’ as the film to beat. By Fallon Prinzivalli Jennifer Lawrence in “The Hunger Games” Photo: Lionsgate As “The Hunger Games” continues to dominate the worldwide box office, the announcement came Monday that the film is nominated for eight MTV Movie Awards . It leads the list with the most nominations alongside Kristen Wiig’s Oscar-nominated comedy, “Bridesmaids.” “The Hunger Games,” the first of three (possibly four) films adapted from Suzanne Collins’ dystopian saga, is on course to break $400 million in earnings domestically . With break-out performances by the cast, it’s no surprise that they’re contenders for an array of categories. Entering their first ever MTV Movie Awards, Jennifer Lawrence and company are up for Movie of the Year, Best Cast, Best Female Performance (Lawrence), Best Male Performance ( Josh Hutcherson ), Breakthrough Performance ( “Liam Hemsworth ), Best On-Screen Transformation ( Elizabeth Banks ), Best Fight (Lawrence and Hutcherson vs. Alexander Ludwig ), and Best Kiss (Lawrence and Hutcherson). The fan-favorite category of Best Kiss has Lawrence and Hutcherson up against their biggest competition: Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, and Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. With “Twilight” gracing fewer categories, there’s a good chance Twihards will be out for blood, vigorously voting for their beloved vampires to make sure they take home the golden popcorn for every nomination. Plus, Robsten has been the reigning champion for the past three years, always teasing that kiss the fans are hoping will finally happen this year. And as this is the last chance for Watson and Grint to nab the award, we may see the Potterheads’ determination win out in the end. This award is anyone’s guess, but if we take a look at the figures, “Hunger Games” already has a promising start. As the premiere film in a franchise first made popular by the books, its opening weekend saw bigger numbers than both the first “Twilight” and “Harry Potter” films. We may be on the verge of a new era where fanged teeth and wands are out and bow and arrows are in. Will we see the same numbers when it comes down to the ultimate award: Movie of the Year? Not only is “Hunger Games” battling it out again with “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1” and “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, Part 2,” but the category also features two Oscar-nominated films, “The Help” and “Bridesmaids.” Katniss and company are going to need to break out more than a few snares to dominate this one. It’s a good thing they already have a big army of fans on their side. With all the money “Hunger Games” enthusiasts have been pouring into its box-office reign lately, it’s safe to assume their dedication to will bode well for the actors who play our favorite citizens of Panem. It’s anyone’s year, but the odds are definitely in its favor. Do you think “The Hunger Games” will reign at the MTV Movie Awards, or will “Twilight” hold on to the crown? Leave your comment below!
