The F Is For Fail: 10 Horrible One-Liners From “Tha Carter IV”

If the predictions are right, Tha Carter IV can be one of the most successful selling Hip-Hop albums of the year, even beating out the two headed monster Jay-Z and Kanye. However, just because an album sells doesn’t necessarily mean it’s good. While even twitter has shared it’s thoughts on the album with Trending Topics like #thingsbetterthanthacarterIV, many are beginning to get sick of Wayne’s hit and miss one liners. Sebastian Bach’s Home Flooded By Hurricane Irene

Death toll from weekend’s storm rises to 40, as flooding continues in some East Coast states. By Gil Kaufman Sebastian Bach Photo: FilmMagic With the death toll from Hurricane Irene rising to 40, five million homes in the dark as of Monday and towns up and down the East Coast still struggling to hold back floodwaters, the cleanup from the storm is expected to take weeks, if not months. One of the people who will have to put the pieces back together is Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach , whose New Jersey home was destroyed by flooding from the hurricane. The 43-year-old hair-metal vocalist lamented the loss in a lengthy Facebook post, in which he said that not only was the dwelling destroyed, but also that the storm had taken away some one-of-a-kind rock artifacts. “I am numb, in shock, & devastated to report that my home of 21 years, my house featured on ‘MTV Cribs,’ has been destroyed, condemned, & deemed uninhabitable due to the extreme flooding courtesy of Hurricane Irene,” Bach wrote. “In the 2 decades I have lived in this home, there has never been a single drop of water in the basement or anywhere else in the structure. Now Irene has overflowed the reservoir adjacent to my house. The surging waters have snapped the bridge in half next to my house & sent the bridge straight into my garage, knocking the house off of its foundation.” Bach said he was told he could not pump the water out due to fears of electrocution. Among the “irreplaceable” items lost: KISS Gargoyles from the 1979 tour, a KISS pinball machine, Skid Row master tapes, master tapes from Oh Say Can You Scream and “boxes & boxes” of original Skid Row memorabilia, from the band’s first tour to their most recent that Bach said no one else had. “I had a library in the basement with every single magazine that had Skid Row on the cover,” he lamented. “This library took up a big part of the basement. All of this is lost now. We will salvage what we can of course. But how I wish there was a reason to do a box set or something before Hurricane Irene hit. Nobody cared. Now it’s too late. Don’t know what you got till it’s gone, indeed.” Some of his other treasures, such as his father’s artwork — including a 16-foot tall mural from the band’s Slave to the Grind album, were safe after being moved upstairs, but Bach said he hasn’t been allowed back in the house yet to assess the damage because the foundation had “crumbled” and the structure could collapse at any time. “This has really taught me that the best things in life are indeed ‘free,’ ” he concluded. “What makes me happy is that my children & ex wife are safe. My dad’s art is unharmed. No one got hurt. My scrapbooks of memories of my life are dry & safe.” And, after 25 years of calling New Jersey home, Bach said he’s packing it in and permanently moving West. “I will always love New Jersey, but now there is literally nothing left for me here except memories of a past life,” he said. “Hello, Los Angeles. Hello, New Life. Here I am. It’s time for a new start. Like I have a choice.” Related Artists Sebastian Bach

The Four Year-Old Preacher

Katy Perry, Adele To Continue Ladies’ VMA Hot Streak?

Video of the Year Moonman has gone to a woman every year since the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards. By Jocelyn Vena Past Video of the Year winners meet 2011 Video of the Year nominees Photo: Getty Images/ Columbia/ Capitol/ MTV News Every year since 2007, a woman has taken home the Video of the Year Moonman at the MTV Video Music Awards . The ladies really have become the undeniable stars of the category. So, who has won the prize the past four VMAs? In 2007, Rihanna (featuring Jay-Z) won it for “Umbrella.” A year later, in 2008, Britney Spears dominated with “Piece of Me.” Beyonc&#233 took it in 2009 for her anthem “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It),” and Lady Gaga (and her meat dress) won it last year, 2010, for her “Bad Romance” video. Sunday night, will a woman once again take home the ultimate Moonman for Video of the Year? Well, there’s a 40 percent chance, mathematically, that a female artist will win the prize. Two of the five nominees are women: Adele (“Rolling in the Deep”) and Katy Perry (“Firework”) face off against the Beastie Boys, Bruno Mars and Tyler, the Creator. Will the ladies cancel each other out, or will one of them rise victorious? “I think it has to be a lady this year, as in my mind, it’s a two-person race between Katy Perry and Adele ,” Entertainment Weekly staff writer Kyle Anderson told MTV News. “The former because it seems like an appropriate culmination to an unprecedented chart-ruling year, and the latter because it’s a feel-good story of quality and skill triumphing over glitz and artificiality.” While Anderson notes it could go either way regarding Adele and Perry, celeb blogger Perez Hilton had a more definite idea who will win. “The women continue their hot streak. Without a doubt, the winner is going to be Adele,” he predicted. “This is her year. She’s been the critical darling and has also been embraced by the masses in a way we haven’t seen in a really long time. She’s actually selling albums, week after week, and lots of them. She deserves to win every single award she’s nominated for.” Anderson added that the performances scheduled for the night are a major indication that a lady will win. “Either way, it’s going to be five straight victories for XX chromosomes,” he predicted. “And it should also be noted that considering the biggest performers will also be female — Adele, Lady Gaga, Beyonc

Tyler, The Creator Recalls His First Performance, On ‘When I Was 17’

Odd Future’s Tyler, the Creator talks about his achievements on “When I Was 17.” By Kara Warner Tyler, The Creator Photo: MTV News This week’s new episode of “When I Was 17,” airing Saturday (August 27) at 11 a.m., is all about three outspoken rising stars in the hip-hop and rap communities who also happen to be VMA Best New Artist nominees. The most outspoken and unpredictable of the three is Odd Future standout Tyler, the Creator , who revealed that his 17th year featured two career-making moments, the release of his album and his first-ever “concert” performance. “When I was 17, I released The Odd Future Tape. That was my first album as a collective,” Tyler said, adding that the release led to the group’s first-ever performance. “My first performance was a talent show. I didn’t set us up for it, Hodgy did,” he recalled. “I was really excited because I’d never performed before.” Evidently, Tyler went all out during the show and at one point ended up dropping his pants for a not-so-receptive crowd. “I was jumping around, pulled my pants down. During parts of the songs, I would go in the crowd and just wild out and go crazy,” he said. “The guy who put it together, his mom and other family members were in the front. I didn’t know that they were heavy church people.” Unsurprisingly, the group’s performance did not receive an encore at that particular venue. “We were talking about 666 onstage and stuff,” Tyler said. “And then they just cut the music and were like, ‘Hey, get the f— out of here.” Tyler isn’t looking back with any regrets, of course. He’s got two huge VMA nominations to think about, Best New Artist and Video of the Year. “I’m really excited,” Tyler told MTV News of his Video of the Year nod. “Shout out to Ron Artest. If I lose to any of those wackass videos, I’m gonna be mad because they all suck — except for Adele’s.” The Cali rapper/ producer/ director was more willing to discuss his fellow Best New Artist nominees. “The Best New Artist thing, that’s cool,” he said. ” Wiz [Khalifa] is a really good dude and I’ve been a fan of his music, so if he wins I’ll be pretty excited. I wanna win that for sure, but Wiz is awesome, I’ve been listening to him since ’08,” he said. “Even Kreayshawn , she’s cool. So if she wins that too, I’ll be pretty stoked. But you know, I wanna win, I’m just gonna keep it 100.” “When I Was 17” — this week featuring VMA nominees Big Sean, Tyler, the Creator and Kreayshawn — airs Saturday at 11 a.m. on MTV. The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live Sunday, August 28, from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT, following the Selena Gomez-hosted pre-show at 8. Lil Wayne Proud Of Drake, Nicki Minaj VMA Moments

‘It’s like you being a senior and you’re watching the freshmen come in,’ Wayne tells MTV News before Sunday’s show. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Rahman Dukes Drake performing at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images This time last year Lil Wayne was behind bars as VMA weekend festivities were kicking off — not that his incarceration dampened his spirits. The Young Money CEO had Nicki Minaj and Drake to root for. “I think it meant a whole lot more for me to see them onstage than it means for me to even be onstage this year, because I know they want this so bad and this is what they do it for,” Wayne said of his artists’ 2010 VMA moments versus his own involvement this year. Last year, Nicki performed “Check It Out” with will.i.am during the VMA Pre-Show, wearing in a cotton candy-colored wig and form-fitting purple catsuit. Her YM cohort Drake had a hell of a night himself as he partnered with Swizz Beatz and Mary J. Blige to give a Frank Sinatra-inspired big show performance of his Thank Me Later single “Fancy.” Wayne’s musical director Gil Smith promises a ‘rock star’ performance. This year, while the Harajuku Barbie and Drizzy are scheduled to attend, it’s Wayne who’s planning a major moment. Not only is his “6 Foot 7 Foot” up for Best Hip-Hop Video , but Weezy will perform and then release the digital version of his long-awaited Tha Carter IV LP when the clock strikes midnight . Still, for Tunechi, watching his Young Money team participate is rewarding enough. “They’re young, they’re fresh, and it’s beautiful to them,” Weezy said. “It’s like you being a senior and you’re watching the freshmen come in and enjoy the light. You remember, man, I remember being a freshman — that was amazing … to see them do that, I felt relieved like, ‘This is what it is all about, this is what it’s for.’ ” What are you hoping Wayne performs at the 2011 VMAs? Tell us in the comments! The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live Sunday, August 28, from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT, following the Selena Gomez-hosted pre-show at 8.
