The Real Housewives of Atlanta Recap: Sheree’s Law

It’s Tuesday and we’re watching The Real Housewives of Atlanta? Is anyone else confused? Due to the special night, we thought perhaps this would be a very merry holiday episode, Atlanta style. Instead things got downright down and dirty. Let’s break it down in THG’s +/- review! Bob’s dragging Sheree back to court to reduce his child support payments. Reduce it to what, you might ask, since he hasn’t paid a nickel in four years. Minus 15 . You can’t reduce nothing from nothing. So Sheree hires Phaedra to represent her and the legal diva gives Sheree some advice. First is to have Bob hauled off to jail for failing to make his support payments for four years. Plus 10 . Despite the current court case Sheree still has the right to hold his feet to the fire on that one but she backs down.  She doesn’t want to do that to the father of her children. Minus 12 , honey. He’s got no problem bailing on his kids and he’d probably step over Sheree if she fell down in front of him. Isn’t it past time to kick a little Bob butt? Phaedra’s second piece of advice is that Sheree not drive up in her brand new Porsche or wear her most expensive outfit. Sheree is aghast. What she has shouldn’t matter and ideally she’s right but it’s not smart to ask for money when you’re holding a $16,000 purse. As Sheree is freaking out before court, Phaedra overcompensates, telling her how easy this case is going to be. Minus 8 . Never promise anything when you head to court. Anything can happen. In the end Bob used a stall tactic. He filed a contempt charge against his ex saying she took furniture that he should have gotten in the divorce. It’s completely lame but it did the trick. They’ll all have to go back to court once again. Sheree blames Phaedra because she promised her so much and delivered nothing. Honestly I don’t think there’s much Ms. Parks could have done here … other than not raise Sheree’s hopes. And if Sheree had taken Phaedra’s advice in the first place the deadbeat dad would be filing motions from a jail cell. Kandi decides to update her sets for her web based sex show Kandi Koated Nights. The sets don’t help much when your guests are sitting there texting while the show’s in progress. Tonight’s topic: How can women snare a pro-athlete? Her guest host Charles Grant basically says women shouldn’t act like hookers if they want to be treated like ladies. I’ll give him a Plus 5 for his directness. Then Kandi wants to know how he want from NeNe to girlfriend Marlo who happens to be sitting next to him. Minus 8 to Kandi. I know she’s looking to be salacious but it comes across low class. Charles says he’s never been with NeNe. Then Kandi starts prying into where Marlo got her money. I bet the couple was wondering why the hell they agreed to come on this tacky little show.   Oh, but Kandi did share her favorite sex positions with her audience. Isn’t that something we all need to know. I’m guessing Kandi will be using her show to pimp her new line of musical sex toys. Sounds like a perfect fit. After giving birth on Sunday’s episode , Kim and Kroy take KJ home. I wish it all surrounded the cute baby. Instead we had to endure more talk about Kim’s boobs, her father’s breastfeeding jokes, why Kim’s scared of her son’s penis, her awe over baby poop and then we got to watch the dog pee on the floor. Minus 10 . Good times. Unfortunately for Kroy, Kim has yet to change a diaper and Brielle is more interested in being a teenager than helping out. Does this guy have any clue what he’s gotten himself into. Somehow, after all that, we’re still stuck on the fact that it’s Tuesday. Just doesn’t seem right. EPISODE TOTAL: -38! SEASON TOTAL: -133!

Lil Boosie Sentenced To Eight Years In Prison

Louisiana rapper pleaded guilty to drug-smuggling charges. By Nadeska Alexis Lil Boosie Photo: Frank Micelotta/ Getty Images Lil Boosie has been incarcerated since June 2010, awaiting trial for a murder charge . On Tuesday (November 29), the Baton Rouge, Louisiana, native (born Torrence Hatch) pleaded guilty to three counts of conspiring to smuggle drugs into prison and was sentenced to eight years behind bars. Local TV station WFAB reports that District Judge Mike Erwin passed down the sentence after Boosie admitted that he tried to smuggle drugs into Louisiana’s Dixon Correctional Center and Angola State Penitentiary. Upon hearing his sentence, the 29-year-old rapper requested admittance to a drug rehab program, and while the judge agreed to recommend treatment, he wouldn’t order it. Boosie will receive credit for the time he has already served behind bars. Last June, Boosie pleaded not guilty to one count of first-degree murder, two counts of conspiracy to introduce contraband into a penal institution, three counts of possession with intent to distribute narcotics and three counts of conspiracy to commit possession with intent to distribute narcotics. The first-degree murder charge stemmed from the October 2009 death of Terry Boyd. Boosie is accused of paying hit men to kill the 35-year-old man and, if convicted, he may face the death penalty. During Boosie’s stint behind bars, the East Baton Rouge DA’s office also began to build another case against Boosie, trying to link him to five additional murders. During a prison interview in May, the Trill Entertainment rapper told XXL magazine he was being unfairly targeted by the justice system. “[I’m here] ’cause of the songs I made, before I was indicted, about the police in Baton Rouge and what’s going on here,” he said. “There’s a lot with our record label that the system don’t like. … They took my hard drive out of my house after I got arrested. I have albums for days in there. They still haven’t returned it. They’ve had it for damn near a year now. I need that music.” Related Artists Lil Boosie

Conrad Murray Sentence ‘Not Enough,’ MJ Fans Say

But other Michael Jackson supporters outside L.A. courthouse tell MTV News ‘justice has been served.’ By Katie Byrne, with reporting by Vanessa White Wolf Conrad Murray Photo: Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images LOS ANGELES — During the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson ‘s fans have been as much a fixture at the courthouse as the Jackson family . When Murray was sentenced to four years in jail Tuesday (November 29), MTV News spoke with those loyal fans outside the court to see if the maximum sentence was an apt punishment. “Four years — not enough, but at least something,” said one fan, sporting a red jacket in tribute to MJ. “And where I come from, a little something is always better than nothing.” One pair of friends might have been wearing matching Thriller T-shirts, but their opinions on Murray’s sentence certainly didn’t match. “If four years is the maximum and he got the maximum — I know she’s not happy, but I’m happy,” one of the women said, gesturing to her less-than-pleased companion. “I feel like justice was served and that L.A. can now be proud and stand tall.” “It’s better than nothing, but it’s not even close to justice,” said another fan, wearing Jackson’s trademark fedora and sequined glove. “Not only was [Murray] negligent; he let the man die. It’s unconscionable. He didn’t even try. How would a heart doctor not know how to give CPR? It’s insane.” The cardiologist, who was found guilty of one felony count of involuntary manslaughter November 7, was facing up to four years in state prison in the death of the pop icon, but due to recent changes to alleviate overcrowding in California prisons, the judge in the case said he was unable to send the doctor to state prison for his crime. On top of that, legal expert Mike Cavalluzzi told MTV News that Murray will likely serve less than half of his four-year sentence. Those legal loopholes concerned a female fan outside the courthouse, but she was also happy that the maximum punishment was doled out. “The only thing I’m worried about now, with the overcrowding of the jails, he might get one year and house arrest,” she told MTV News. “I’m just hoping it’ll be four years, that’s what I’m praying. I’m just glad that justice has been served today, and I’m glad justice can be served to the family and to the fans, and everybody around today will be happy and celebrate that justice has been served. And I’m sure Michael’s looking from heaven right now.” Related Videos Michael Jackson Doctor Conrad Murray Sentenced Related Artists Michael Jackson

Mother of Conrad Murray to Judge: Free My Son!!

Dr. Conrad Murray’s defense team has brought out the big guns. The physician’s mother is among the latest of his friends, family, patients and colleagues writing to the judge who will decide Murray’s fate at sentencing today. Murray was found guilty this month of involuntary manslaughter in the June 2009 death of Michael Jackson, and Michael Pastor will decide how much time he does. He could get up to four years in prison … but will he? Not if his mother has any say in it. “Nothing like this has ever happened to him before,” asserted Murray’s mom, Milta Rush, in a letter obtained by E! News . “He has never been in trouble with the law before and I am barely standing, I am so scared and worried sick about him being incarcerated.” She may get her wish, despite what you might think. Even if Pastor gives him the maximum possible four years in state prison, California’s new realignment law allows many nonviolent offenders who otherwise would have been eligible for state prison instead to be remanded to county jails. Thus, it’s unlike Murray is going to state prison. The L.A. County Jail, a far less punishing environment, is the doc’s most likely destination after today. Moreover, as Lindsay Lohan has taught us, there’s little room in county jail either. He could do as little as 10 to 20 percent of his sentence, some believe. The sheriff doesn’t want him county jail, it is too much risk. So he is likely going to be entitled to some kind of alternative, work release or house arrest. Your tax dollars at work, Californians.

For Your Consideration in All Razzie Categories: Clint Eastwood

Razzie authority Dan Kois is on to something: “Clint Eastwood is due! The man is 81 and has directed some real howlers, from Any Which Way But Loose to Invictus . Count us among the Razzie experts who really thought last year was his year; Hereafter , after all, was a metaphysical hash of half-baked ideas and ridiculous plot points, wrapped in a stomach-churning tsunami re-creation. But Hereafter didn’t even get nominated! In fact — and I know this will be hard to believe — Clint has never been nominated for a Golden Raspberry Award, not even for Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil . As one Razzie voter told me, “Even if J. Edgar is subpar — that is, less bad than usual — I plan to vote for Clint. The old man deserves it for all the crap he’s made me watch over the years.” [ Grantland ]

Arrested Development to Return with New Episodes?!?

Prepare to chicken dance, Arrested Development : arguably the funniest, most intelligent sitcom in the history of television is likely heading back to the air. At a New Yorker Festival event yesterday, series creator Mitch Hurwitz said he hopes to “do a limited-run series into the movie,” where the show would come back for approximately 9-10 episodes, with each focusing on just one character and updating fans on his/her life over the five years since the series went off the air. These episodes would then lead into the wildly-anticipated Arrested Development film. Nothing is official yet, but Hurwitz said he hopes to bring the show back next fall. Let’s all celebrate with a meal of frozen bananas and a call to Steve Holt, shall we? Steve Holt!

Sister Wives Recap: The Talk, Polygamy Style!

If last week’s Sister Wives season premiere taught us anything, it’s that life in a polygamist household entails a different spin on some of life’s rites of passage. Case in point from last night’s episode: “The Talk.” As in the talk about s-e-x. How does a man with four wives and 17 kids (or something, we lost count) broach this topic? What values does Kody Brown instill? In the living room of one of the family’s new Nevada homes, the Brown Bomber took charge, telling the kids he doesn’t want them to date in high school. That did not exactly go over well. “You should not be sexual until you’ve graduated high school ever,” he said, adding that he’d “prefer” they wait until marriage to become sexually active. “I don’t really want to talk about my daughters marrying … or dating,” Brown says later. Understandable, given that he’s married four people’s daughters. Meanwhile, Kody, Janelle and Christine are all looking for new jobs and decided to look into real estate. Wouldn’t you know it, their realtor needs help. They need to wait six weeks to get their licenses, but the trio helped set up some open houses and appeared to enjoy it at least. We wish them luck. The most significant development last night was when Kody Brown and his fourth wife, Robyn, dealt with a scary possibility regarding her pregnancy. Kody and Robyn were facing a miscarriage head-on. The pair announced they were expecting last week, but Robyn said she’d had some “symptoms” and wanted to head to the doctor as a precaution. Kody and Robyn were “emotional devastated” thinking of the unthinkable, but after a tense few moments, the little one’s heartbeat came through. Filled with relief, Robyn started crying. Kody texted a worried Meri to let her know the good news. All is right in Casa Brown, at least for one week. What did you think of this week’s Sister Wives? Can he really stop the kids from dating? How many kids is too many? Will they be good realtors?

Amanda Knox Pleads For Freedom to Jury

Four years after she was arrested on suspicion of having killed her roommate in Italy, American Amanda Knox pleaded for a jury to overturn the conviction. “People always ask who is Amanda Knox? I am the same person I was four years ago. But I have lost a friend. I have lost my faith in Italian police,” she said. “I am paying with my life for something I have not done. Four years ago I didn’t know what suffering was,” she added , delivering her statement in Italian. “I did not kill. I did not rape. I did not steal. I was not there.” In her second trial, Knox and co-defendant Raffaele Sollecito are fighting to be acquitted of the murder of Meredith Kercher. They were convicted in 2009. Prosecutors, meanwhile, have called for their sentences – of 26 and 25 years, respectively – to be increased to life. Two judges and six jurors will decide. Amanda Knox’s appeal has focused largely on DNA evidence found on a knife and on a bra clasp belonging to the victim. They argue it’s not enough. Closing arguments was Knox called “Lucifer-like, demonic and Satanic,” but her defense says that like Jessica Rabbit, she’s not bad, just “drawn that way.”
