Robert Brian Clark Dies; Catfish Star Was 33

Robert Brian Clark, who appeared on a memorable episode of Season 2 of Catfish, has tragically died, MTV News confirms this week. He was just 33 years old. Clark, who went by “Brian” on  Catfish , was reportedly killed in a motorcycle accident in his native Jefferson County, Alabama. Local news reports described a tragic, harrowing scene. It’s not clear exactly how, but Brian was thrown from his motorcycle after he “became airborne while crossing a set of railroad tracks.” He was then hit by a car after landing on the highway. When the motorcycle came landed after being airborne, it landed on its side and Clark was ejected from the bike before being struck. The crash happened at 5 p.m. local time, and Clark was pronounced dead on the scene less than a half an hour afterward, at 5:20 p.m. Simply awful. According to reports, Brian passed away in December, but it appears that MTV only learned about, and mourned, his death this week. In 2013, Brian appeared on Catfish with Jesse Bettinger, a pretty blonde who was worried that Brian was not who he appeared to be. You can see a photo of the couple above. He’d been portraying himself as a Southern gentleman, but Jesse, unsure of who she was dealing with online, enlisted the Catfish crew. As she told  Nev Schulman , she had been stood up by Brian once before, after driving hundreds of miles to meet up with him no less. Brian later revealed that he missed their rendezvous because he was arrested for possessing a sawed-off shotgun that very same day. Nevertheless, the online relationship continued, and when Brian and Jesse eventually met on Catfish , well, he was who he said he was. That’s right, he was telling the truth all along. A catch-up special later revealed to fans that they did not end up together, though they continued dating one another after the episode. It’s not clear why they broke up, but Brian, a former U.S. Marine, had struggled with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) for years. Jesse, now the mother of a two-year-old son, posted a tribute to Brian on Facebook, along with the caption, “I’ll never forget our good times.” “Your struggle is finally over,” she said. Wednesday night’s episode of Catfish contained a short tribute to Brian Clark, with the network sharing its condolences and memories.

Scandal Shocker: Who May Be Dead?!?

By the lofty, suspenseful, bat $hit crazy and awesome standards set by Shonda Rhimes, Scandal Season 6 has been somewhat of a disappointment. Up until last night, the first half of this latest run could mostly be summed up by one sentence: Rowan killed Frankie Vargas. Aside from that development, nothing has really stood out on what has long been considered the most twisty and turny show on television. But then the final minute of Scandal Season 6 Episode 7 aired. And our jaws have remained on the floor ever since, having dropped completely at the hour’s stunning conclusion. As the build up to this cliffhanger, we witnessed Huck get close to Phoebe Neidhart’s Meg, the friend of Jennifer Fields, who was just revealed last week to still be alive. Meg demanded answers about her friend’s supposed death, specifically pushing for Olivia to assist her and asking all kinds of questions about the heroine of Huck. Following some hot and heavy floor sex, Huck attempted to shut this problem down by introducing Meg to Jennifer Fields, who, of course, isn’t actually dead. Problem solved, right? It appears to be when Jennifer seemed psyched to see her friend… until Meg took out a gun and shot her in the chest. From there, the episode leaped ahead to Meg having a sit-down with Abby in a park. “Is it done?” Abby asked, as viewers wondered whether she could truly be the traitor. After hearing the confirmation of Jennifer’s murder, Abby went ahead and really made us gasp with her follow-up and inquiry: “And Huck?” Ummm…. WHAT?!? Huh? Say it isn’t so, Abby! Please! The action then cut back to that hotel room Jennifer had been hiding out in, with Meg turning her weapon on Huck and shooting him directly in the chest. Numerous times.  “Don’t worry, Ms. Wheelan. He’ll have no idea you were part of this,” Meg told Abby at the park. Is that because Huck is dead? For real? It wouldn’t shock us is the character was wearing a bulletproof vest, but it also wouldn’t totally shock us if he’s gone forever. It’s been awhile since Scandal featured a major death. Huck, of course, was on a mission from Olivia to kill her dad and learned in the process that Rowan was told to kill Frankie by someone who threatened a person close to him. Moreover, this same individual had planted a mole by Olivia’s side who possessed the power to “say the word, and she’s dead.” Could this really be Abby? The series clearly wants us to believe it is right now. Did we say “show-altering?” We meant “life-altering.” While we ponder the two major storylines to come out of Scandal Season 6 Episode 7, we want to hear from viewers and readers. Ben Seewald: Planning a Career in Politics?!

The question of what Ben Seewald does for a living has been on the minds of Duggar family fans from the time he was first introduced as Jessa’s suitor. The Seewalds are beloved by Counting On obsessives, but the nagging question of how Ben spends his time when he’s not filming the show (men helping with housework and child care is virtually unheard of in the Duggar clan), seems to loom large on social media. For a brief period last month, it was widely rumored that Ben had found a real job . Then the truth came out: The “job” was one-time speaking engagement at a faith-based gathering in Texas. Basically, Ben would be using his star power to help sell tickets. Not exactly hard labor. But fans who are a bit put off by Seewald’s apparent work allergy will be pleased to learn that he seems conscious of the fact that reality TV fame doesn’t last forever. And it’s likely for that reason Ben is slowly forging a career path for himself. If you follow Ben on social media, you may have noticed that his posts have become increasingly political in recent months. Here’s a recent video in which Ben is all, “Separation of church and state? I don’t think so, Founding Padres.” Ben Seewald: Only Jesus Can Make America Great! It’s clips like that that have led fans to believe that Ben might be preparing for a future in politics. Couple his web presence with the associate’s degree in political science that Ben recently earned from Arkansas’ National Park Community College, and it’s not hard to see why viewers believe they might be seeing Ben’s name on a ballot in the near future. Of course, it’s likely that not all Duggar fans will be on board with Ben’s political beliefs. Ben is more liberal than his in-laws, and has drawn criticism from the family’s far-right fan base for expressing his support for the Black Lives Matter movement and Colin Kaepernick’s decision to sit for the national anthem. In fact, it looks as though Ben would probably describe himself as a right-leaning moderate. View Slideshow: Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald Pictures: Through the Years! Centrists used to be the norm in American politics, but these days they’re about as rare as unicorns. Which means that despite his fame, Ben will probably rise through the ranks about as high as the Tontitown School Board.
