Nicki Minaj Continues Newsstand Domination With Complex Cover

MC relives her killer year and her ‘quest to stand alone’ in magazine’s 10th anniversary issue. By Nadeska Alexis Nicki Minaj on the cover of Complex Photo: Complex If there was ever any doubt that Nicki Minaj would continue her impressive career sprint in 2012, look no further than the newsstand nearest to you. The Young Money rapper has already covered Paper, New York, Vibe and Allure in the first three months of the year (and she got a feature in Vogue too). And now, she’s on the cover of Complex . Complex unveiled their feature with Minaj on Tuesday (after rolling out Justin Bieber’s story from their April/May double cover on Monday). As to be expected, the 29-year-old rapper is done up in eye-catching colors, sporting a white wig with shades of purple, white and pink lipstick and some added graphics just to push it over the top. The feature backtracks on her astronomical year, which included a Super Bowl performance, a Grammys performance , an OPI nail polish line and a MAC cosmetics deal and looks forward to a coming year that will include a fragrance line, a fashion line and a world tour. “If I wasn’t doing it, I wouldn’t believe it’s possible,” Minaj told the magazine about her success. “I happen to be a pessimist, and maybe that’s a good thing because I don’t stop to smell the roses — which is not a good personal thing. I don’t stop and enjoy those moments. I’m just [snaps fingers] on to the next. Always on to the next and never in the moment.” Despite her catalog of achievements, the Queens rapper says that she’s laser-focused on achieving that much more, especially with her sophomore album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, which is due out on April 3. “Doing the Super Bowl with Madonna doesn’t really change Nicki Minaj’s personal goals,” she says. “My goal right now is still to put out Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, sell 5 million copies eventually, and tour every country in the world.” “I came out with Young Money, the biggest hip-hop label in the world at that time. And then it was, ‘How do I branch away from Lil Wayne?’ ” she continues. “One of my biggest records was with Drake, ‘Moment 4 Life.’ Even with the Super Bowl, it’s Madonna’s moment. I’m just sharing in that moment. It’s not Nicki Minaj’s moment. Nicki Minaj at the Grammys — that’s my moment. I’ve just been constantly on this quest to stand alone.” After dropping Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, Nicki will set out on a 15-date European tour , which will kick off in early June. Mystikal: “Cash Money Didn’t Save My Career; They Saved My Life” [VIDEO]

New Orleans rapper Mystikal was locked up for six years stemming from a sexual assault charge. Now that he’s out, he’s back to rapping after having signed a new deal with hometown label Young Money/Cash Money . The experience has been a humbling one for the former No Limit soldier. Mystikal sat down with Sirius XM’s Hip-Hop Nation to discuss life after prison, how it feels to be signed to Young Money, and how Lil Wayne and Baby saved his life. When it comes to Mystikal’s feelings of going from prison to a nice record contract, Mystikal said: “My head is still spinning right now. It’s humbling. It’s really humbling to be looking from the six years [in prison], looking up at everything. That’s at the bottom of the barrel. The only thing worse than being in prison is probably death itself. So to do that for six years and then to come home and be on top with the top record label in the world? It’s humbling.” Mystikal also shared that he is more mindful about his subject matter when rhyming. He then expressed how fortunate he feels to be in his current situation. “That was nothing but God that allowed this situation to unfold like this,” the rapper offered. “After the debacle, and everything that happened, God still showed up at the end.” When he was asked about Lil Wayne and Baby’s impact on him, Mystikal replied, “They didn’t save my career; they saved my life.” RELATED: Mystikal Announces Album Title On 106 & Park [VIDEO] Mystikal Ft. Lil Wayne Was No Show On ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live

Lil Wayne decided not to show up for a scheduled appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live last Thursday night, so Kimmel used a random audience member to fill in for him. When Lil Wayne decided not to appear for a scheduled chat, Kimmel improvised and called on a random audience member named Carl to act as Wayne. Wearing a wig of fake dreadlocks and trucker hat, Carl played along as the Lil Wayne substitute. Carl didn’t know much about the Young Money leader … so he had a hard time answering Kimmel’s questions, especially about his million-dollar pair of headphones at the NBA All-Star Game. Kimmel made the best of the situation … and as for the whereabouts of the real Lil Wayne, apparently, he was too busy performing at the Hollywood for Caesars Escape to Total Rewards music event in Los Angeles. I am mad at Wayne for this move Jimmy Kimmel is the man!

Al-Qaeda Joins Forces With U.S. To Take Out Syrian President?! [Video]

Washington has entered a strategic alliance with the terrorist group al-Qaeda (again) to help regime change in Syria. When sanctions don’t work they resort to using terrorists. The leader of the al-Qaeda terrorist organization, Ayman al-Zawahiri has joined the anti-Syrian campaign, reports say. Many believe the terrorist group has entered a strategic alliance with Washington against the Syrian government. Despite slogans that are being against the Israeli regime, al-Qaeda has never taken any action against Tel Aviv’s interest while it has carried out hundreds of deadly bomb attacks in Muslim countries. Press TV has conducted an interview with Stephen Lendman, author and radio host, to share his opinion on this issue.

Nicki Minaj Talks Hottest MCs At NBA All-Star Game

After performing ‘Super Bass,’ MC walked offstage and celebrated her Hottest MCs placement with MTV News. By Rob Markman Nicki Minaj performs at the 2012 NBA All-Star Game on Sunday Photo: Ronald Martinez/ Getty Images ORLANDO, Florida — All the stars are out for the 2012 NBA All-Star Game, but before basketball’s biggest names took the court at Orlando’s Amway Center, Ms. Nicki Minaj set the party off right. The reigning queen of rap rocked her smash single “Super Bass” in the jam-packed b-ball arena. Wearing a skintight white jumpsuit and a blond and pink hairdo, the Young Money MC spit her bars and hit her dance steps in front of the thousands of fans in Amway and the millions watching at home. After the short set, Nicki strutted back to her dressing room and spotted MTV News on the way. The topic of conversation? MTVs Hottest MCs in the Game VII , of course. Nicki placed #4 on the list and proceeded to talk her ish as a true MC should. “Hottest MCs #4, let’s get it,” she boasted with a Queens swagger. “That’s big, though. I deserve it. I put in work.” On Thursday night Nicki released her new single “Roman Reloaded” with Lil Wayne, and on the new single from her upcoming sophomore album she made sure to brag and boast. Only Rick Ross, Drake and Kanye West placed higher, giving Minaj the highest Hottest ranking for a female MC in the history of the debate. Nicki was initially slotted at #5 with Young Money boss Wayne clocking in at #4, but several members of the MTV Hottest Brain Trust felt strongly enough about Nicki’s accomplishments mixed with her lyrical impact and ability to more than hold her own when playing with the boys warranted a second look at her ranking. Hottest MCs moderator Sway Calloway called for a vote and in the end, six of the nine experts elected to move Nicki up to the #4 spot, sending Weezy down to #5.
