Zac Efron as Charlie St. Cloud: Movie Trailer, Stills Released

Troy Bolton who?!? Following last year’s successful transition away from the High School Musical franchise (with 17 Again ), Zac Efron takes another step forward in his adult movie career this summer. The young heatthrob stars as the title character in Charlie St. Cloud , a drama based on a popular 2004 novel. In the film, the 22-year-old boyfriend of Vanessa Hudgens portrays a young man who gains special powers after surviving a serious accident: he can communicate with his late brother. Amanda Crew, Kim Basinger and Ray Liotta also star in the movie, which hits theaters on July 30. This role may be quite the departure from High School Musical , but don’t worry: Efron brings the same hotness as always to the screen. The trailer for Zac Efron’s new film Charlie St. Cloud has made its way online, and it casts the former Taylor Lautner as a smart, rich, loving, yachting, Stanford-bound mensch who loves to wear sleeveless shirts. Can it get even better for our hero? It can: an accident leaves him able to talk to ghosts. Well, one in particular.

Zanessa Donates Time, Cuteness to a Good Cause

Angelina Jolie isn’t the only celebrity that donates her time and money to important causes . Last night, Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens played a vital role at the inaugural St. Jude Children’s Hospital’s “Estrellas Por La Vida” gala in Los Angeles. The event was held to raise bring attention to children that are battling cancer and other serious diseases. It honored Daisy Fuentes, Kenny Ortega and Zoe Saldana for their ongoing support and dedication to this goal. Ortega directed Zac and Vanessa in High School Musical 3 .
