Da Brat Goes In On Bow Wow For Messing Up Her Special Moment It’s no secret that Bow Wow has been acting a damn fool on the regular over the last few years — but Da Brat is over his antics and lets him know as much after he ruins a special moment for her. Should any of us be surprised that instead of apologizing Shad still has sorry excuses ? The season finale of “Growing Up Hip Hop ATL” airs tonight, Thursday December 20th at 9pm EST on WeTV.
This weekend if you plan to Netflix and Chill you need to check out Bird Box starring Sandra Bullock, Trevanté Rhodes, Lil Rel, MGK, John Malkovich and more. It’s an ensemble cast who come together to take this suspense thriller to every level on the emotional roller coaster. The movie kicks off when a mysterious force infects the population, causes everyone who encounters it, to commit suicide. Quickly you find out that if you see it, you die. So in order to survive, you must avoid coming face to face with an entity because it takes the form of your worst fears. The movie centers around a group of survivors who are locked in a house. Through a series of flashbacks and time jumps you will follow a woman and her children dangerous journey through the woods and down a river to find the one place that may offer sanctuary. When I heard the story I just had to feature this movie for my #XillaMovieParty series and I had New York’s top influencers and celebrities in the building. Donna and Alex from Black Ink Crew, comedian TravQue, Yarisbeth and BET’s Hustle In Brooklyn Ivy Rivera were in the building to name a few. As guests enjoyed snacks and the comfortable seats of iPic Theaters and Hennessy cocktails after the screening while they got to wonder what they would have seen if they saw the entity. I also got to sit down with Trevante Rhodes and Sandra Bullock for a dope interview where they talked about filming this amazing film, Sandra and Trey also have a heart to heart conversation about how well Rhodes’ mother raised him. Along with talking about what they learned from kids. Sandra revealed that she had no idea what love really was. “I’m going to start crying… I had absolutely no idea wht Love was about but i have to leave it here because I’ll get all misty.” While Trevante agreed with Sandy but explained that being around children helped him identify a purity and honesty that exist in kids.
$30 could have potentially saved Janice Dotson-Stephens’ life. The 61-year-old grandmother of 10, from Texas, died in jail after being held on $300 bail since July 17. She was reportedly charged with criminal trespassing. However, her family didn’t know she was being held until her unfortunate passing. According to Refinery 29 , Dotson-Stephens struggled with manic depression and paranoid tendencies for more than 40 years. “Despite her illness she was a great mother,” Michelle Dotson told Refinery29. “She knew she didn’t always have control and so when she did, she wanted us to be our best.” This instance wasn’t Dotson-Stephens’ first run-in with law enforcement. In the past, when she was arrested the family would be informed and she would be transferred to hospital and placed under psychiatric evaluation. “She had people who loved her and family who would have easily paid the $30 USD to get her out of jail if that’s what we had to do to take the next step,” Dotson-Stephens’ sister-in-law Leticia Dotson said in an interview with KSAT ABC . Her death is being investigated by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. Black women continue to die in police custody. Earlier this year, Sandra Bland’s family released a documentary that explored the circumstances around Bland’s mysterious death . We hope all families get the justice they deserve. I can remember coming home from school and hearing the afternoon rush hour reports on the radio, hearing my parents make plans to go places around the traffic, or actually sitting in the traffic and observing the delays, horn honking and subtle road rage. I would often think and wonder to myself, “Just what is it that causes Atlanta to have the level of traffic that it does? Is it specific to “bad drivers”? Email Submit One could venture to expand on the thought of “bad drivers” as a major source of Atlanta’s traffic woes. During the morning and afternoon rush hour reports, we hear of car crashes that tie up or even shut down highways for extended amounts of time; which can be caused by careless drivers that are either attached to their mobile devices or in such a rush to get from Point A to Point B. As a result, instead of the ride home attempting to be a happy moment after a long day at work, it turns into the Atlanta Motor Speedway, which can have some damaging effects on those trying to get home and those involved. After all, company headquarters and the entertainment industry had not quite set their sights on Atlanta. But within the last ten years, Atlanta has grown tremendously, while adopting the slogan and meme that is seen on social media, “We are FULL!” As a result, new residences are being built daily to accommodate the influx of transplant residents that have visited one time and want to make this their permanent home. While Atlanta is primarily affected, suburbs such as Alpharetta, Sandy Springs, Snellville and even Conyers are feeling and reeling the effects of the traffic woes. The Latest Music, Celebrities and Interviews: Simply put, Atlanta has identified that traffic is a major, yet horrible thorn in our sides. There are many factors that add to this demise, but ultimately, there has to be a solid solution that can benefit the city as well as the residents and visitors. Sure, adding express and reverse lanes can lessen the blow, but does it really help? Is a person willing to pay rates just to get home faster, or save that money for another cause? After all, if everyone jumps on board with the express lanes, you create another traffic jam and there goes the idea of lighter traffic! Riding the transit buses, MARTA, carpooling, or even telecommuting doesn’t begin to scratch or solve the true issue; and that is that Atlanta needs to invest and establish more highways and roadways to offset and accommodate the growth that has started and will continue for years to come. Until the powers that be realize and understand, Atlanta will continue to experience highway headaches and woes that can simply be solved by upgrading and expanding the infrastructure that we currently have while continuing to make Atlanta an attractive place to live, visit and work. When Remy and Papoose announced the birth of their daughter on social media, Papoose did mention that the labor had been difficult. Since then, the couple had been very open about using in vitro fertilization to try and have another child. By July, the rapper was announcing her pregnancy as she and Papoose renewed their vows. According to TMZ, Remy Ma is receiving blood transfusions and apparently the surgery was a success. They report that she’s doing well and is expected to be released within the week. And now, after the allegations of sexual abuse and assault lodged against its co-creator Salim Akil , the network has decided to cancel the show. According to Variety , OWN cancelled “Love Is __” just weeks after news broke the Salim Akil had been accused of sexually abusing Amber Dixon Brenner, a woman with whom he allegedly maintained a 10-year-long extramarital affair. Sources claim that Warner Bros. Television, which produces “Love Is __” completed an investigation inspired by the lawsuit Dixon Brenner filed. They found no allegations of misconduct on the OWN series or on “Black Lighting,” the other show Akil created and produces. Up until now, Akil is still in place as the showrunner. Preproduction on the second season of had reportedly already begun. But according to sources, the allegations against Akil “presented a unique challenge for the future of the season, which had been billed as being based on the real-life romance of Salim Akil and Mara Brock Akil. Apparently, people at OWN felt the narrative had been “compromised.” As we reported earlier, actor and director Amber Dixon Brenner said that during their ten-year relationship Akil slapped, strangled and forced oral sex on numerous occasions. She claimed that he urinated in her mouth on one occasion, raped her when she complained of sex being too painful and forced her to lick a wall in a parking garage. In addition to the sexual abuse, Dixon Brenner, who is also married, claimed that Akil used portions of a script she’d sent him in “Love Is ___” Mara Brock Akil took to Instagram to share her feelings about the cancellation and said, ” LOVE IS___ I am saddened that this great group of #artists and #storytellers will no longer get to create together on this project in this way. This was a special tribe— assembling teams like this is by the grace of God— and I will miss not being on set with them to make more magic.
