A 20-year-old Black college student has died following what his family said was a fraternity hazing incident in California late last week. Police are investigating the death and are considering hazing as a possible factor. RELATED: Hazing Horrors: More Students Being Beaten, Degraded And Humiliated At High Schools Tyler Hilliard , 20, who would have become a junior with an engineering major at the University of California Riverside, lost his life after pledging Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, the young man’s family said. The African-American fraternity has a firm anti-hazing policy, defining hazing as “illegal and a crime in most jurisdictions,” according to its website . “Pledging has been officially abolished as a means of obtaining membership in Alpha Phi Alpha, and pledge ‘lines’ have been officially abolished by the fraternity,” the APA statement also said. Hilliard began pledging the fraternity and participating in activities in July, his family said. The young man was allegedly pushed into eating an entire onion drenched in hot sauce and had to drink a lot of water. He also was allegedly paddled with a cactus, ABC-owned KABC reported. However, things took a tragic turn when after fraternity pledges took part in a strenuous run on Saturday night that ended with him being rushed to the hospital. He was later pronounced dead. UC Riverside released a statement and its condolences. The school has offered support to the young man’s family and counseling services to the campus community. The university is working with its police department to determine the official cause of Hilliard’s death. Police are waiting on the result of an autopsy, according to KABC. “A mother should never have a bury a child like that. He’s only 20. He hasn’t even begun to live his life. Rebecca Kleefisch , who was reportedly at the fair during the ceremony, told reporters that other people told her Barnes was kneeling. Here’s how Barns responded to her allegation: Me, a candidate. Today (Sept. 17), VH1 announced that Remy & Papoose: Meet The Mackies , a three-part special, will premiere on Monday, October 1 at 9PM ET/PT. Remy is preggers, after multiple IVF treatments, and over three weeks fans will get a bird’s eye view of the Mackies’ Black Love. Also, their grown kids are along for the ride, which should pretty much guarantee some minor drama and plenty of entertainment. Of course, Love & Hip Hop’s Mona Scott-Young is executive producing. Akbar is (allegedly) known for taking advantage of young women, especially famous or wannabe famous ones who are in vulnerable situations like Teairra, for the sake of his own fame. All her rehab drama was in #TheBlogs so he may have seen her as an easy target. Obviously, they get together to talk about this and have a hostile discussion. She says she’ll throw him the gig as a bone because she’s not doing it since she’s going to London with Bridget Kelly (Bridget Kelly invited a bunch of the Angry Birds on a girls trip). They start arguing back and forth some more but the real tea is spilled when he says everyone knows that she and A1 have been (allegedly) sleeping with each other. via GIPHY The episode winds down with Moniece and Roccstar in the studio. Basically, they know each other from back in the day and Moniece wanted to get back to recording so of course, Roccstar the snake saw this as the prime opportunity. via GIPHY Brooke, who is supposed to be Moniece’s friend, offers to come for moral support. What she actually does is take over the session, singing Moniece’s lines and ish, because, Brooke is thirsty like that. Anyway, Moniece struggles a bit since it has been a while and her vocals are rusty and she’s nervous, so Brooke and Roccstar go in the booth to listen to the song and Brooke tells Roccstar that she wants to “help Moniece catch a vibe.” We all know that’s code for outshining her on the song, especially when Brooke, in her confessional, says it looks like Roccstar got himself into another Amber Diamond situation, and we all know how awful that was. Moniece senses what’s about to happen and starts freaking out. She nearly passes out and it’s probably a panic attack but you know they have to drag this out so the medics come through to tend to Moniece while Roccstar and Brooke are still in the booth listening to the whole drama go down and basically trashing Moniece. Roccstar actually starts laughing about this situation and calls it that Moniece probably freaked out because she was triggered by what was about to happen with Brooke and thought a panic attack would shut everything down. He didn’t even think Moniece actually would go to the hospital but she does. Meanwhile, Brooke and Roccstar stay behind so that Brooke can record Moniece’s record. via GIPHY Next, we get back to the A1 and Lyrica drama and then there’s the girls trip. Remember, Georgia does not have a permanent absentee voter status, so if you apply now, it will only be for the upcoming election. A new application must be submitted each year. MISTAKES that could result in your Absentee Ballot being rejected. No Signature – You have to sign the Oath Envelope for identity purposes. Wrong Envelope – You must use the Oath Envelope provided. If you lose it, contact your county elections office for a replacement. Unauthorized Return – If you decide to hand deliver your ballot, YOU must do it unless you are not disabled. Contact your elections officials for details. You wrote the Current Date on the Oath – Write the date of your birth and your name on the Oath Envelope. Different Personal Address – Use the address on file if you don’t want your ballot rejected. Provisional Ballots If you forget to bring your photo ID to the polls, you can still vote. Ask your poll workers for a Provisional Ballot. Your vote will be counted as long as you show County Election officials that you have an acceptable form of ID within three days after Election Day. Also, you can ask for a Provisional Ballot if your name does not appear on the list of registered voters for that precinct or if you show up at the wrong precinct. Don’t forget you have three days to clear things up with elections officials if you want your vote to count. Got a Felony Conviction? You can vote! Anyone with a felony conviction that has completed their dues to society is eligible to vote. In Georgia, voting rights are restored upon completion, but ex-felons must re-register to vote. Surprisingly, it most likely wasn’t because of the return of Lawrence ( Jay Ellis ). In episode five, Issa Rae ‘s character ran into him at the store on her Coachella trip and in episode six, they see each other again at Tiffany’s ( Amanda Seales ) baby shower. Their conversation seemed to go smoothly and Issa made it clear by the end of the episode that she was ready to move on. Only problem is, her new potential bae went missing in action! That’s right. Earlier in the episode, her new starry-eyed boo thang, Nathan (played by Kendrick Sampson), was making it seem like he had feelings for Issa when they were snuggled up in her bed. But when Issa texted him about a Lyft investigation pertaining to the night they met, Nathan didn’t respond for a day in a half. So in millennial dating years that’s like…a week! There could only be two explanations for this. Either Nathan’s on the run from the law… Or he completely ghosted Issa. A Star is Born is the new movie from Warner Bros that’s getting a lot of Oscar buzz after a successful premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. Lady Gaga, Bradley Cooper and Dave Chappelle come together to tell the story of a seasoned musician Jackson Maine who discovers a struggling artist Ally who works at a restaurant while doing side gigs at bars around town. Jackson who was on a search for another drink stops in a drag bar where Ally is performing and it’s love at first site. During one of his shows, he coaxes her into the spotlight and Ally becomes a big star. But as their relationship plays out to find out that Jackson’s demons will end up haunting the both of them. I headed to Toronto to discuss their new film A Star Is Born for an episode of Extra Butter. Bradley and Gaga discuss their on-camera chemistry as well as the price of fame. Bradley Cooper explained, “Fame is a result of being able to do what you… Fame comes from the success of being able to tell your story and have it be healing or entertaining and that’s the goal in life.” Gaga, who plays Ally says that her friendship with Bradley Cooper provided a sacred environment on set, “He used to tell me in the movie to Ally, all you have to do is trust me. That was very easy to do because he is so kind and so loving. He’s a brilliant filmmaker and I just wanted to give everything I had to him in this film.” Dave chimes in about how much he enjoys Bradley Cooper’s directing style. “The way he directed me and the way we would talk about the scene, and the way he would create an environment that gave me the courage to actually be vulnerable in a way that comedy would never let me be. The ring that Wiz gave to her over 6 years ago is M.I.A. Sources say that Amber is “heartbroken” about losing the symbol of her bond with Wiz. She’s hoping that the police somehow find it. It’s not looking too good though, police are having a hard time tracking who could have swiped the ring because Amber has so many people coming in and out of her home.
