But even the Migos themselves probably didn’t know they started something by letting Takeoff showoff his DJ’ing skills to Quavo’s “Lose It” featuring Lil Baby . Thus the #DJTakeoff Challenge was born. Takeoff is definitely the youngest, most reserved, most low-key member of the group, so it’s always interesting when he shows a tad bit of the personality we rarely get to see. Some even argue that Take is the best rapper in Migos — even though he was left off Bad & Boujee . One fan tweeted , “Takeoff lives that hook lifestyle too tho, and y’all already said he the best rapper which is facts, he really the mvp, he had the squad on his back when he was like 18, 19 yrs old and offset was locked. I think he could make a better album.” But will everyone’s secretly favorite Migo get his just due? Will we finally get to hear all the Takeoff we deserve? Well, according to recent reports, — and Offset’s mom — Takeoff’s solo album will be coming after Quavo’s. In an Instagram comment to a fan questioning Takeoff’s absence from the American Music Awards, Miss Latabia Woodward wrote, “It’s still 3 of them. Take is working on his solo album which releases soon after Quavo’s. Each of them are releasing solo projects.” Even Quavo admitted once that each member of the Migos has their own projects in the works. He told Hypebeast , “We’ve always had music stocked up, each of us on our own. That’s how we always had worked, the previous Migos records. We always go work on them first and then one person would be on the song and then we just make each other do homework. So now it’s just like we completing our own songs” No word on when Takeoff’s solo effort will be released, but since Quavo’s dropped this month, and Cardi B announced that Offset was working on his — we can only assume that solo Take will be out later this year or early next year. Abrams, who would become the nation’s first Black woman governor if elected, defended her actions. Reportedly, Minaj’s people did reach out to Chapman for permission to use her song “Baby Can I Hold You” for the Queens rapper’s tune “Sorry,” featuring Nas. However, Chapman basically said, “Nah.” TMZ reports that Minaj’s reps reached out in June 2018 with multiple requests to license “Baby Can I Hold You,” which were all denied. In early August, Minaj even pinned her new album’s delay on trying to find Chapman. But then Nicki Minaj’s “Sorry,” which got nixed from the Queen album, made its way onto the radio, with Funkmaster Flex playing it on Hot 97 and The Breakfast Club also giving it a spin on Power 105. The song’s radio play, which led to the Internets grabbing the tune and reposting it online, is referenced in Chapman’s lawsuit, which seeks an order prohibiting Minaj from ever releasing the song as well as financial compensation. T he family of the Black man who was killed by a police officer in his own Dallas apartment last month still has plans to sue the city, according to a new report. Botham Jean ’s family announced their intentions earlier this month to sue Dallas for civil rights violations, but the lawsuit was seemingly in limbo last week after Jean’s mother said some questions she had were being answered by officials. Lawyers representing the family revealed details of the pending lawsuit on Monday, showing exactly what Jean’s parents were hoping to accomplish with it. “Jean’s parents say they want their lawsuit to not just focus on how their son died, but to change how police officers are trained about when to fire their weapons,” the Dallas Morning News reported Monday afternoon. Johnson, who was appointed DA nearly two years ago, was running to be elected to the post next month and has at times seemed more concerned with her campaign than Jean’s killing. “The Jeans also fault [Dallas Police Chief U. Reneé] Hall for turning over the case to the Rangers and say Dallas police should have kept investigating,” Dallas Morning News also reported. “Hall has said she turned over the case in an effort to be more transparent.” However, Hall, at one point in the weeks after the shooting, told reporters that she was “prohibited” from firing Amber Guyger , the officer who killed Jean. Less than a week later, Guyger was fired. There’s also the issue of the criminal charge Guyger was facing. She was charged with manslaughter , but that could be changed to murder depending on what a grand jury decides. However, it was unclear when, or if, a grand jury would ever convene. It’s been nearly seven weeks since Guyger entered Jean’s apartment and killed him on Sept. 6, implausibly confusing her rental unit for his and purportedly suspecting he was an intruder in her home. Local law enforcement has been accused of helping Guyger coverup her crime , allowing her to avoid criminal charges and remain free nearly three days following the shooting before she turned herself in and was arrested. She was finally fired nearly three weeks after she killed Jean. Her toxicology report has also not been released even though she reportedly submitted to a test the night of the shooting.
