D12’s Bizarre Sends Warning To Machine Gun Kelly Following Eminem Diss Track

‘Power’ Recap – Season 5, Ep. 9: There’s a Snitch Among Us

Source: Starz / Starz The father/son dynamic unfolds in curious ways, and Angela’s clock may have run out for real this time. Death, deceit and deals make the headlines in this week’s episode of   Power . The episode beings with a grizzly TV news obituary for fallen gangsta Kanan Stark, as reporters and the community try to make sense of the quadruple murder from a known felon. As Tariq watches the news, he can hear the commotion from the living room, where Tasha, Ghost and Tommy discuss how the Kanan setup unfolded. Ghost is upset that Tasha went behind his back, and put Tariq in danger. Tasha is upset that Kanan wasn’t the main target to frame from the beginning. Tommy is there to provide peanut gallery level humor and ad-libs. Tariq interrupts the quarrel to take credit for Kanan’s murder. He didn’t divulge the true danger in the plan and knew the only way out was for Kanan to die. He remains indignant towards Ghost for lying about his past, and reiterates that he’s a real g now, a school won’t change him, and Ghost needs to put him on to game or get out of the way. Needless to say, Ghost didn’t oblige. Tariq ends up ditching school to meet with Vincent, accept condolences for Kanan’s death, and continue the drug business on a trail basis. Vincent agrees, and also puts Tariq in contact with a good fake ID connect who supplies Tariq with a new identity “Erick Stark” so he can pickup Kanan’s ashes from the police. The adventures of “Street Tariq” have just begun. CONTINUED Source: Starz / Starz — Photo: Starz

16-Year-Old Student To Pursue Biology Degree At Howard University

A Black teenager who is displaying excellence in the realm of academia will be taking her talents to Howard University this fall. Brendell Allen , 16, will be a part of the institution’s 2022 graduating class, the university reported. Congrats to Young Scholar Brendell Allen, a 16 Year Old Junior Transfer Student! Read more about her story here: https://t.co/18XUAQzFBB pic.twitter.com/OGwE0UGb5a — Howard University (@HowardU) August 30, 2018 Allen graduated from East Mississippi Community College and was specifically selected to become a Bison. Despite receiving several offers from top schools across the country, the teen knew that she wanted to further her education at Howard. She plans on pursuing a degree in biology and aspires to become a surgeon. “Howard was always my first choice! When I was accepted to Howard, I knew I was ready to go. I was screaming and crying, and I cannot wait to start class,” said Allen in a statement. Allen says her personal experiences inspired her to want a career in the medical field. “A couple of years ago, my father had a massive stroke where a blood clot traveled from his heart to his brain. Since then, I’ve had the interest in cardiothoracic surgery,” she added. Howard has been working closely with community colleges to encourage students to complete their degrees at the Washington, D.C.-based school. The university has established a Transfer Student Association that organizes events throughout the year so that students feel connected to the community. “We know many arrive and don’t feel immediately connected. We make sure that transfer students feel a part of the community since day one,” said Melanie Carter , Ph.D., Associate Provost for Undergraduate Studies. Like Allen, there are many other Black youngsters throughout the country who are entering college earlier than expected. Earlier this year, 11-year-old Baton Rouge native Elijah Precciely received a full-ride scholarship from Southern University. Teen Pushes Tech Innovation In Nigeria Forward

A 15-year-old Nigerian teen is making waves in the tech industry with the creation of an app. Tomisin Ogunnubi ’s My Locator app—which is designed to find children who are lost—has introduced a new level of innovation to the technology sector in Nigeria, BBC reported. Tomisin Ogunnubi was just 12 when she created an app which helps lost children in Nigeria. More here: https://t.co/vWeraT7lr3 #BBCInnovators pic.twitter.com/Q0McuAFJlB — BBC World Service (@bbcworldservice) August 28, 2018 Ogunnubi began coding at the age of 12 and later conceptualized the idea for the app, the news outlet writes. The app—which she unveiled in 2016—utilizes the Google Maps feature to help individuals track those who are lost. There is also a functionality that allows users to add telephone numbers to the app so that they can easily share their location if an emergency were to occur. Since the launch of the app, it has been downloaded over 1,000 times. Ogunnubi says she was inspired to create My Locator because the security of children is something that is extremely important to her. “I was very conscious about security, thinking… there are different dangerous people, so I guess the idea of being able to go out safely might have been what triggered the idea for the app,” she told the news outlet. “But it was me then as my 12-year-old self-thinking, ‘Oh I’ve just learned how to create applications. How about I use what I have learned to create something that can be useful to me and other people?’” Leaders in the tech industry believe that Ogunnubi’s creation speaks volumes about the importance of racial representation in tech. Google Program Manager Aniedi Udo-Obong says Ogunnubi’s journey will encourage other Black children to follow in her footsteps. “I’m impressed with Tomisin’s app for two reasons. I prefer to see products in whatever state they are than to hear about the most brilliant idea. I like the fact that someone hatched an idea in their head and was able to bring it to fruition and complete it,” he said. He also added that there is a need for more STEM education initiatives in Nigeria stating that the country is “going to be left behind if we don’t get our own children learning at the same rate with the same tools and technologies that their contemporaries in other countries have.” Many educational institutions and non-profits are putting the focus on STEM education. Black Girls CODE, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating career pathways for young women of color in the tech industry, announced the development of a technology exploration lab in New York City.
