Prodigy Says Mobb Deep’s Rick Ross Collabo Is Already Done

‘It’s in the stash right now,’ P tells MTV News at Summer Jam. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Ade Mangum Prodigy Photo: MTV News Mobb Deep’s Prodigy may only be three months out of jail, but the Queens MC is wasting no time in the studio. After already releasing a free online mixtape ( The Bump Elsworth EP ), P and his partner Havoc are hard at work on Mobb Deep’s eighth studio album. While few details about the LP are confirmed, the H.N.I.C. tells MTV News that they can most likely expect a Rick Ross collaboration, which is already recorded. “We did a joint with Ross. It’s in the stash right now. It’ll probably be for the Mobb album. It’s kinda crazy too,” Prodigy said backstage at Hot 97’s Summer Jam concert on Sunday. Ross talked about the collaboration and how it came about during his “RapFix Live” visit May 25. Despite Prodigy’s affiliation to Ross’ nemesis 50 Cent, who previously signed Mobb Deep to a G-Unit deal, the two artists were able to work out any perceived differences. “I respect him, most definitely, as being a boss, making your own decisions,” Ross told Sway. “When he was released, he gave me a call a few days after that. We spoke on the phone maybe once or twice. It was a genuine conversation, us touching base, making sure it is what it is. We most definitely put a record or two on the table. Just to be frank, I was always a fan of the homey, H.N.I.C. I always respected when I saw that. The B.G. collaboration he did with the South, that was big for me. So I was always a fan of the homey and when he made this move in a way, so you had to respect it. So look for a Rozay and Prodigy record in the future.” It still may be awhile before fans hear the record, however. “We’re looking forward to maybe, like, September. End of August, September — we’re shooting for around that time,” Prodigy said of Mobb Deep’s upcoming release date. “We know they need that new music out there, something for the streets. We gotta feed the streets. It’s a lot of different things happening in hip-hop. That’s a good thing. You got different types of sounds, but you know we gotta keep what makes us going. We gotta keep our sound alive, that dark hip-hop. We’re gonna keep that alive.” What are you expecting from a Mobb/Ross collabo? Let us know in the comments! Shia LaBeouf And ‘Transformers’ Director Michael Bay Are ‘Like Brothers’

‘We have our bickering in public sometimes. But I love Michael,’ star says. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Shia LeBouf Photo: MTV News With “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” set to hit theaters at the end of the month, and a new face in Rosie Huntington-Whiteley ready to battle the alien bots, it seemed the sometimes turbulent relationship between director Michael Bay and former star Megan Fox was a thing of the past. In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, though, Shia LaBeouf seemingly added fuel to Fox and Bay’s fiery relationship when he suggested Fox felt “awkward” working with Bay. But when we caught up with LaBeouf at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, the 24-year-old actor said his comments had been misconstrued in the media and that he has nothing but affection for the director. “I love Mike; we’re like brothers,” he said. “And we have our bickering in public sometimes. But I love Michael. And he’s still the favorite director I’ve ever worked for, and I would work with him again, and I’d do anything for him. “But no way was anything I was trying to say in malice or trying to attack Michael,” he added. That didn’t stop news outlets and blogs from publishing screaming headlines about how Fox couldn’t handle Bay’s directorial style and how LaBeouf was coming to the defense of his ousted co-star. The truth, the actor told us, is that part of the creative potency in his partnership with Bay — an alliance that has driven the franchise to $1.5 billion in box-office receipts — is the way in which they can butt heads, take a breather and then move forward with the task at hand. “We scream at each other all the time,” he explained. “That’s been sort of our relationship. There’s a contention that needs to exist for us to get through the movie, and we push each other.” MTV News has all of the highlights from the 2011 MTV Movie Awards . Camille Grammer Sues for Custody of Children, Kelsey Fires Back

In round 216 of their never-ending, nauseating battle, Camille Grammer has fired back at her ex, Kelsey. In mid-May, the former sitcom star filed for custody of the children he shares with the Real Housewife of Beverly Hills. Now, claiming the actor took such a step “in order to create a false impression to the media and to wrongfully disparage” her, Camille has essentially done the same, submitting documents and fighting for primary custody of sons Mason, 9, and Jude, 6. In response, TMZ has obtained the legal papers Kelsey has filed in return, which state he has no hope that a settlement will be reached and – once an expert has completed an investigation of all involved – he wants the case to move to trial. It’s an ugly mess, with two young children caught in between. [Photos: WENN.com]

Jack Black, Seth Rogen Offer MTV Movie Awards Advice To Jason Sudeikis

‘Don’t go halfway,’ Black tells the 2011 host before Sunday’s big show. By Jocelyn Vena Jason Sudeikis Jason Sudeikis is mere days away from taking the stage at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California, to host the 2011 MTV Movie Awards this Sunday. We’re pretty sure he doesn’t need much advice — since he keeps the audience in stitches week after week as a castmate on “Saturday Night Live” and is bound to have everyone laughing in the summer comedy “Horrible Bosses” — but if he does need some last-minute words, MTV News caught up with some other funny guys to help out. “Don’t go halfway. Oh here it is: All of the f—ing way,” said Jack Black, who co-hosted the Movie Awards with Sarah Michelle Gellar in 2002. “That should be his mantra.” Need shorthand for that? Black added: “AOTFW.” While Seth Rogen seemed to be a little jealous of Sudeikis’ gig, he did have kind words for the host. “I don’t think he needs our advice,” Rogen said, with pal Danny McBride by his side. “I’ve been jockeying for that gig for 10 years, and he got it.” But what about some more advice from someone who’s been there before? Andy Samberg , who hosted the Movie Awards back in 2009, shared with MTV News some key steps to ensure a successful hosting gig. “What advice can you give to a guy that has it all? Be yourself, grab ’em by the scruff of the neck and don’t let go,” he advised. “Wear a nice suit. Hydrate. Crunches. Make sure ‘Twilight’ wins everything so the crowd is lively. Rig the results!” Another former host, 2010 emcee Aziz Ansari , had some different advice for the actor/comedian. “It’s so much work, so definitely have a lot of uppers on hand, like just drugs that’ll get you fired up,” he joked. “PCP is good to stay up all night, get all the work done. It’s a cool thing, though; it’s back in vogue. It’s like Twitter, PCP. It’s like trendy things: Twitter, PCP, Jonas Brothers.” The 20th annual MTV Movie Awards air live this Sunday, June 5, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Jeff Conaway to Be Taken Off Life Support

Grease star Jeff Conaway’s family members haave decided to turn off the actor’s life support system, marking a sad end to his battle with substance abuse. The family, who has kept a vigil at the L.A. hospital where Conaway is in a coma after being found unconscious at home, say his fight will end. “Doctors advised the family that Jeff has had no brain function since he was brought into the hospital,” a source close to the situation said. It looks unlikely that Jeff Conaway will emerge from his coma . “The feeding tube has already been removed. The ventilator which is breathing for Jeff, will be removed sometime this afternoon.” “Jeff is in no pain whatsoever.” It’s unknown how Conaway will cope when the machine is switched off, but there will be no further attempts to resuscitate the actor. “No measures will be made to try and revive him once the breathing tube is removed,” the source said. “Jeff has remained unconscious.” The former Taxi star, now 60 years old, was hospitalized back on May 11 for what was though to be a prescription drug overdose. Dr. Drew Pinsky, who treated Conaway on Celebrity Rehab, said the star was suffering from pneumonia and sepsis, a severe blood illness. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends. Jonathan Lipnicki: Amber Watson Tried to Annihilate Me!

Jonathan Lipnicki played the adorable little kid in Jerry Maguire. He’s all grown up now (20) with grown-up problems most of us never experience. Lipnicki recently obtained a restraining order against ex-girlfriend Amber Watson, who he claims broke into his home and attacked him in his bed. “When I tried to get up, she tried to pin me to my bed,” he says in court documents. “I had to move her off me physically… she threatened to annihilate me.” This is Ray from Jerry Maguire! Seriously! We have no idea how she planned to annihilate him exactly, but we’re glad it didn’t happen. No one deserves to be decimated, even after a bad breakup. Lipnicki says on May 14, his roommates let 20-year-old Amber, also an actress, into the house. Big mistake. It’s unclear why, but she was not pleased. Watson immediately ran to the former kid star’s bedroom, where, Lipnicki claims, she pulled off his sheets and threatened to finish him off … for good! She must now stay at least 100 yards away from the actor. And his dog.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Affair Fallout: Did He Get Caught? Why Did He Come Clean Now?

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s startling admission that he fathered a child out of wedlock over a decade ago begs a number of questions, chief among them: Who is the mystery female employee he impregnated? Having hidden it so well under heavy scrutiny, why admit it now? How could be run for office while hiding a secret of this magnitude? We don’t know the answer to question #1 right now, though we imagine we will in time. The second is equally unclear. The third? Only Arnold knows. His mistress, who worked in the family’s home and continued to do so until earlier this year , always maintained that her then-husband was the dad. This is a remarkable story for a number of reasons. Even if Schwarzenegger’s public persona was a macho rogue, adultery doesn’t play well with voters … nor does lying and pulling a John Edwards. When the former U.S. senator and presidential candidate knocked up Rielle Hunter , he denied it to everyone’s face until he was flat out busted. Arnold, according to reports today at least, came clean to wife Maria Shriver very recently, prompting her to leave the actor and ex-governor. Schwarzenegger and Shriver separated last week and have four children ages 13-21. The split came amid rumors of Arnold’s philandering and drifting apart from his wife, but no mention of his affair or illegitimate child was made. Until the Los Angeles Times broke the story yesterday and he confirmed it. The question is whether the Times would have found anything had the couple not split up, and if not, why Arnold didn’t just take this one to his grave. His behavior and history with women became an issue during his first campaign for California governor, in the 2003 election, but he weathered it. Shriver offered a timely and politically crucial defense of her husband, vouching for his personal integrity. He won in 2003, then again in 2006. So after all that, how did this come out now, right after he left the state house and returned to life as a private citizen? Perhaps because of that? Maybe his hand was forced in some way. Maybe he just couldn’t keep it from Maria anymore and the guilt ate away at him. Maybe time will tell. Earlier today, Maria Shriver released a statement, saying, “This is a painful and heartbreaking time. As a mother, my concern is for the children.”

James Durbin Doesn’t Think He ‘Failed’ On ‘American Idol’

‘I’m still clicking up the track,’ latest castoff says of his post-‘Idol’ career. By Gil Kaufman James Durbin is eliminated on Thursday’s “American Idol” Photo: FOX James Durbin had a weird feeling when he got to the “American Idol” studios on Thursday. “Something was off with the kinetic energy,” he said Friday (May 13) during a call with reporters. “I felt it in people’s body language. … There was a real somber feeling.” Asked if he was blindsided, then, by the news that he would be going home in fourth place on the show later that night, Durbin paused and said, “I’m not going to lie, I definitely was.” He said he “freaked out” a bit just before the show went on air and had a feeling that his ride might be over. With less than an hour of sleep since his surprise ouster, Durbin said the hours since his elimination had been a “whirlwind” of emotion. “I’ve been really thinking about why I came on this show and why I even auditioned in the first place,” he said. “It’s for my family and to try and give a voice to a genre of music that seems like it’s slowly fading away. I really accomplished a lot on the show, and I’m grateful for the opportunity.” While other fourth-place finishers, including rocker Chris Daughtry , have said not winning “Idol” was probably the best thing that ever happened to them, Durbin said he understood that sentiment, but “winning would have been just great too.” He said his first instinct when host Ryan Seacrest broke the news was to think about how badly he’d wanted to win and fight back the feeling that somehow he’d failed. But after some time to reflect, Durbin said he’d come around on that thought. “I haven’t failed at all,” he said, adding a refrain often heard from “Idol” finalists. “This is just the beginning.” The singer, who provided one of the most emotionally engaging moments of the season with his tearful farewell, compared the journey on “Idol” to a roller coaster, saying it has loops and corkscrews and that while some people think of elimination as the first step toward the crazy ride down the other side of the fame hill, he sees it differently. “I’m still clicking up the track,” he said of his wild ride yet to come. “I’m really, really stoked.” While some of his castmates have hooked up with movie starlets , Durbin said one of the biggest celebrity perks he enjoyed on “Idol” was becoming close to professional wrestler and “Dancing With the Stars” contestant Chris Jericho , whose show is filmed at the same studio as “Idol.” For the lifelong wrestling fan, who always idolized Jericho, it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. And given that Jericho fronts his own metal band, the boys bonded over body slams, life on the road and all things hard rock. Given the Hollywood-ready arc of his story — from his Asperger’s and Tourette’s syndrome to the death of his musician father from a drug overdose when James was 9 years old — someone asked who the singer might like to see portray him in a movie. At first, he was speechless and then said he might want to do the honors himself. But then he suggested Matt Damon, since some people have said he resembles the actor, and maybe Steven Seagal for his older incarnation, since he used to rock a Seagal-like ponytail back in the day. Durbin has lots of plans for his debut album. He’d like to work with Dream Theater’s Mike Portnoy, reunite with guitar legend Zakk Wylde and bring out his “secret weapon,” his best friend from home who is a shredding guitar player. As he’s said before, James wants to bring back the classic metal sound, starting with an iconic singer/guitarist pairing along the lines of Wylde and Ozzy Osbourne or Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry. And given the chance, he’d like to re-create the sound of his favorite record, the 1983 debut from late Black Sabbath metal screamer and solo star Ronnie James Dio, Holy Diver. He wouldn’t give any details, but Durbin said he heard the song that might be his first single Thursday. “I really dig it,” he said of the unnamed tune. “It’s something I can really work.” He described it as having a heavy edge, but also being radio-friendly enough to get airplay. With no regrets, Durbin did point out his one potential misstep on the show when asked why his number might have been called Thursday. Referring again to his friendship with wrestler Jericho, he noted that the last song Jericho danced to on “Stars” was, yes, Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin’.” ” ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ eliminated James Durbin, Chris Jericho and Tony Soprano,” he said with a laugh.
